There's a lot of people out in the mainstream spiritual space, the people who have laid the groundwork for spiritual conversation, and who have gone forward and provided all of their wisdom and knowledge, who have then gone and almost made it impossible for us to admit that we are human. Because we are human, shit happens. All the time. And life happens. We can sometimes get stuck in this space of having to be grateful, and raise our vibration, and all of those kinds of things. Fuck that. Sometimes, I just want to be angry. This week, Erin gets a wee bit soapbox-y about toxic positivity, spiritual gaslighting, and why admitting that you're not okay, is perfectly okay. Have you ever felt like spirituality makes it hard to admit you're not okay? Send us an email at info@awakeningthewisewoman.com - would love to hear about your experiences!!

Episode 26: Why working with a business coach isn't pushing your business forward

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 1, 2022 26:10

There's no point just following someone else's set of rules and their plan of what worked for them, because actually, all businesses are different, all people are different, and we have to be more willing to stand in our own power and do what feels right and aligned for us, rather than just doing what someone else tells us to. We have been working with a business coach for some time, and found that actually, stepping away from following the path she sets out for others, and finding the path that feels more aligned with who we are and what we want to be as a business has changed everything. Including our thoughts on whether a business coach is a necessary investment early on, especially when you are a personal brand. In this conversation we talk about our own experience with that, why we believe that hiring a business coach isn't necessarily the right move, and what we think might help you get further, faster. Have you hired a business coach and found that you ended up on a path that didn't quite feel right? If so, we would love to hear about it! With all of the debate raging in the US about the law surrounding abortion, and Roe vs. Wade, we felt called to discuss what we think underpins all of the conflict - body autonomy, and a woman's right to choose. While this is a hugely divisive conversation at times, and we are all fatigued by conflict and the massive challenges humanity has faced (and continues to face) over the past few years, we felt compelled to discuss this because it comes down to one thing for us: No one has the right to tell a woman what she can and can't do with her own body. Period. We are conscious that the content of this discussion might feel triggering or upsetting to some listeners, so please exercise discretion when listening, and if you wish to skip this episode, we get it, and we honour you for taking care of yourself - we look forward to having you back with us next week! Episode 24: How to make your mid-life crisis a mid-life course correction

Play Episode Listen Later May 18, 2022 39:35

There's always that sort of stereotypical middle aged male having a midlife crisis and he goes and buys a red sports car and dates a secretary for a while. For women, it's a little bit more complex, because I think we're only just realizing now and there's a rising consciousness around this, that acknowledging that we are feeling discomfort or acknowledging that we are not 100% happy, even if we have access to joy, is actually perfectly okay.Feeling like you are having some kind of mid-life crisis is not something most of us will admit to... but many of us will experience some kind of crumbling, awakening, shifting sense of who we are and what we are here for, somewhere in our late 30's to early 50's. Join us for a conversation about how crisis can become course correction and why we need to be acknowledging this more, for ourselves AND those around us. If you have been feeling like you are heading for a course correction, whether you're in the space of discomfort, or full blown crumbling... we would love to invite you to our Cycle of Self program. A self-directed online program, Cycle of Self is a combination of video content, meditations, and workbooks that will help you move from awareness that something is rising within you, to growing into the next level of who you are.

How in the world are we supposed become emotionally intelligent when we are faking, avoiding and hiding?? I'm also helping moms see how they unintentionally put their fears onto their kids which really hinders them in sport (and life). It's time to shift from fear to FIERCE!!" I am a high school Health, Anatomy and Bio teacher that is raising her children right now and so I have created Yarn's Tales. Life is hard, life is rough, I have been knocked around quite a bit and I have found the better I understand my emotions, how to express and regulate them, the better I feel while in the rough patch. Understanding Emotions IS KEY, so with that being said. I write children stories and tell my stories, while my son draws the cover art and my sweet baby girl runs in the back ground. I write my stories in hope to bring emotional awareness and connection to families (PARENTS) and children. My son has Muscular Dystrophy and his disability will take many things from him, but I KNOW, if my son understands and knows his emotions he will be able to process that loss in such a healthy and empowering way. Understanding his emotions will give my son so much ability, If my son can break emotions down, understand them and express them in his own unique way I believe he will gain an understanding of himself that is powerful, empathic, and unreal. It will ultimately change his life. My GOAL is to teach my littles to understand why we feel, what causes emotions, and how we feel and express them. Whether you have a similar dream rooted in wanderlust, or there is something else in your heart, this conversation will likely spark a sense of curiosity, possibility, and hope in you, as it did for us. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ About Tanya: Tanya Hackney graduated with a B.A. from Middlebury College in 1997, where she majored in English and double-minored in French and Education. She taught kindergarten in Atlanta, Georgia before transitioning to homeschooling her own five children aboard sailing vessel Take Two. She's lived aboard, traveled, and written for the Take Two Sailing blog (www.taketwosailing.com) for more than a decade. She has always had a bad case of wanderlust, having taken countless road trips as a child, spent a semester abroad during college, and honeymooned in Central America. Tanya recently published an award-winning memoir, Leaving the Safe Harbor: the Risks and Rewards of Raising a Family on a Boat (https://ingeniumbooks.com/LTSH). In her free time, she plays the ukulele, paints landscapes, and kayaks.

Welcome to our first ever guest episode! To start us off on the absolute best foot possible, we sat down with a phenomenal woman - a truth speaker, a wounded healer, and a courageous and bold modern wise woman - Candice Smiley, of Create the Ripple Podcast, to talk about living in authenticity, sharing your truth with courage and confidence, and being the change you wish to see in the world. For those of you ready to dive deeper into a healing journey that leads to truth and authenticity, this episode is for you!TRIGGER WARNING - We discuss sexual assault, mental health, and domestic violence in this episode, so if that content isn't for you, please exercise your discretion with this episode.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About Candice Smiley: Candice is a self proclaimed master manifestor and personal development junkie who loves to engage in interesting conversations with other influencers and entrepreneurs. Her favourite conversations are the ones that take courage to engage in. (Check out her podcast, Create the Ripple Podcast wherever you stream your podcasts for more of that!) She spends her time living - in a tiny home (250 sq ft), traveling with her daughter - speaking - on her podcast and on stages, and sharing candidly with other women how to find love after betrayal, to trust themselves, to speak up for themselves and set powerful boundaries. After a narcissistic and abusive romantic partner cheated on her with multiple women and left her (and the country) with significant unexpected bad debt and ruined credit, Candice was forced to rebuild her life, her credit and her trust in herself. Over the next few years Candice navigated the challenging world of foreclosure court, filing for financial proposals and divorce. During these times she adopted a minimalist lifestyle, leaned on her personal network and practiced radical personal forgiveness, acceptance and responsibility. The journey was not without its impact and Candice shares powerfully about dealing with anxiety, depression, shame and learning to let go. When grief rocked her world a little less than 2 years ago, Candice knew it was time to stop her life, hit the pause button and finally do the deep work to heal her heart, self and mindset. She spent 14 weeks in deep personal soul searching, meditation, quiet reflection; with a side of weekly therapy and support from various healing modalities to help her recenter, refocus and heal her deep feminine nature. Emerging from this place, Candice has begun to embrace her fierce and receptive feminine nature with her formally developed masculine side. The journey to be and embrace all the parts of herself has led her to the place to start her wildly successful Create the Ripple Podcast; Trust the Niggle and Tell the Truth - where she features other amazing guests who are not afraid to do the hard work of personal development, listen to their own minds/heart and then speak up and out for those things that matter; to themselves and to make a difference in the world. Candice loves her minimalist lifestyle for the beauty and freedom it offers her. She knows the power of a good thrift store shop and loves her wardrobe! She has learned the power of saying no, listening to your own heart and speaks openly about subtle abuse as it occurs in relationships. She's become a voice for listening to your own truth and speaking it powerfully. She knows how to save money, make money online and in creative ways to balance the books as a single mom and yet live your biggest and best life. Candice can never resist the urge to take off her boots to walk barefoot into a clear mountain lake or stream. When she is not connecting or writing, she can be found disappearing into the backcountry trails of Canada with her life-love Mark and losing herself exploring waterfalls and mountain trails. She is a quiet introvert who adores eating clean foods and reading a great book. Connect with Candice: https://linktr.ee/CandiceSmiley

"We have to live our life forwards, but you can only understand it backwards." - Ellie's Mum (Probably not originally Ellie's mum, but that's where it came from for us.) As we begin a new year, with a new moon, we discuss reflection and intention and how important these things are for creating the life we want to live. Reflecting without emotion, removing all of the "shoulds" and "didn'ts" and setting intentions based on how we want to feel and what we want more of is a key aspect of alignment for success, and as always, it's all about being in the right energy!Whether you've set intentions for the new year, or haven't done so yet, this episode will help you understand why the process serves us when we do it well, and how to make sure your intentions are built on a foundation of carrying forward what you have learned and need to know, and not the heavy emotions that come with being human and making mistakes.
