It has become so much easier to cover up in our current world where technology has never been easier to access. People will show us what they want us to see and tell us what they want us to hear. It's difficult to know what is real and what is not. In this episode, you will hear me talk about what I'm doing in overcoming adversities. Every one of us has experienced adversity. Every person you meet is going through, have gone through or will soon be going through some form of adversity. It is one of the certainties of life. It just cannot be escaped.
One of the hallmarks of a successful transition to a new career is having adequate cash flow. You could say cash flow is king. It's very difficult to remain active in business when cash flow is tight. I've found this to be true. When there aren't enough cash flow, anxiety and desperation sets in. It affects your outlook on life. One of the most impactful things that come as a result of limited cash flow is the resurgence of a scarcity mindset. In this episode, our guest Benjamin Tyler talks about making fast cash for your business and/or career transition.

To Create The Right Story For A Successful Career Change can be challenging. The question that precedes this idea is why do we need to create a right story when considering or pursuing a career change. Most times we need others to help us move things along when we are in the midst of any kind of change much less a career change. We simply need help. I know I do. It's difficult trying to do it by yourself. Hence the need to make sure your career change story consists of these 3 ingredients. 1. Relatability 2. Portability 3. Repeatability Discover how they are applicable to you.

The phrase beat the competition is applicable when it comes to you going after your dream career. Knowing that you are not the only one vying for a similar spot, requires that you do things differently. You cannot sit on your butt and expect to achieve your dream career goal. You have to go after it with all that's within you. Because of this competitive nature, having a strategy will give you an advantage. Another term for it is the competitive edge. You will discover that his story could be your story. He challenges us to be openly honest with ourselves if we are going to become successful in our journey. Here are some highlights of what I gleaned from the interview: He got into business consulting because of an unmet need that surfaced from repeated questions. Sometimes it takes a while to see a return on your investment of time, finances and other resources It's easy to develop a scarcity mindset during times of financial difficulties Start small by doing it on the side Business is an asset to make us money. Once it no longer does so, you’ve gotta "kill it." The chatter of what others might think keeps us doing what no longer works. We’d rather look good while we are dying within. Sometimes you only realize after the fact what you wish you had known way before. Hindsight is truly 20/20. Now, it’s learning that needs to take place. Most people who are in business do not know how to run a business. They operate as a technician in a business rather than a business owner. Whenever the conversation of using content marketing takes place, it generally occurs within the context of online marketing. It is rarely used within the career change space. One of the reasons for this is the understanding and usage of the definition of content marketing. Content marketing is generally associated with the digital world. However, when content marketing is looked at as any content posted in a public setting whether as an image, audio, video and/or text files, it changes the conversation. One has to now care about what they post because it could be used against or for them.
The path from failure to success is sometimes over-reported. The missing part is the story of how failure can be seen as Success Wrapped In Overalls.change their careers so often. When I envision someone in overalls, I'm seeing a blue-collar worker working in a factory environment. What is Content Marketing? Have you ever participated in a 21 Day Challenge? What was that like? Do you recall why you chose to be a part of that particular challenge? Even though I haven't participated in more than one 21 Day Challenge, I recall what that was like for me. A few years back, I did a challenge. I was somewhat skeptical at first. I didn't see myself as a writer. I'm more of a speaker. However, I took on the challenge along with most of the group members. Everyday, I would get up at a certain time and the first thing I would do is wash my face then make my way to my computer where I would start the clock and write. The arrangement was to write for 30 minutes. If you didn't know what to write, just type those words, "I'm sitting here not knowing what to write." It's amazing what would happen [read more...]

Sometimes when someone dies in their prime years or even before, you may hear these words: he/she had such a bright future ahead of them. What is being shared is the sadness, the grief, of such a loss. This is especially true if the person had some skills or talents that stood out from the general population. One such person that comes to mind is Michael Jackson. He had such incredible musical talent. When he died, most people mourned his death because of his age and the incredible impact he had upon the world both within the music industry as well as outside. He was a musical genius in my opinion. Having a bright future can also be manufactured or created. You can create that for yourself. In this episode you'll discover how transitioning smoothly into your dream career - having a smooth career change - can lead to experience six areas of your life that you can enjoy the benefits of a bright future.
One of the experiences of life that I can say I will never have, is that of saying I was or am, a military man. I say that because of my age. The Entrepreneurial mindset is so important if you are going to make a smooth career change. There is something about this mindset that allows you to pursue your dream career at a more rapid, confident and courageous manner. Whenever the word Entrepreneur is used to describe what we do, if you don't see yourself as Entrepreneurial, you may immediately discount what comes after. Tuning out the information simply because you don't see yourself in that light - the light of an Entrepreneur, could easily rob you of vitally important experiences. What is an Entrepreneur? I came across this definition in the Lexicon Financial Times that I thought was so fitting. Here is what it says: Entrepreneurial mindset refers to a specific state of mind which orientates human conduct towards entrepreneurial activities and outcomes. Individuals with entrepreneurial mindsets are often drawn to opportunities, innovation and new value creation. I especially like the last part of the definition given: "... entrepreneurial mindsets are often drawn to opportunities, innovation and new value creation." Isn't this what you'll need when considering changing your career?

Would you say that you're there? Why? Take a few minutes and respond to this conversation. Join the Facebook group - www.facebook.com/groups/smoothcareerchange. let's converse there.
