Ursula Costa is the Head of Clinical Affairs at Hocoma AG, an established neural rehabilitation company based in Zurich, Switzerland. She is a licensed physical therapist who has recovered herself from a spinal cord injury as a young girl and then nurtured her passion for neurorehabilitation. She holds a PhD from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona in Physical Therapy and has held a professorship at the same university. Takeaway: Rehabilitation technology is a tool to help the patient gain maximum potential not a tool to do the motion passively. Technology coupled with rehabilitation aids in the achievement of neuroplasticity and physical recovery. [0:00] Jen French of Neurotech Reports introduces Ursula Costa from Hocoma at RehabWeek 2019. [0:37] Hocoma AG was the initiator of the RehabWeek concept. Costa explains what the event means to them and connecting with clinicians. [2:37] The line of Hocoma products focus on neural rehabilitation. They have introduced robotics into the field as well. Costa walks us through some of the technology and the challenge of clinical adoption. [3:45] Costa discusses the principle of neuroplasticity and intensity in rehabilitation and how technology can help assist in the rehabilitation process. [4:51] Costa talks about the excitement for the future of rehabilitation and the mindset change about efficiencies of technology and personalization of rehabilitation.

Hoe schrijf je een bestseller? Die vraag stel ik aan Esther Verhoef. Miljoenen mensen lezen haar boeken. Ze is een van de best verkopende auteurs van Nederland. De thriller queen mogen we wel zeggen. Esther is bescheiden, maar tegelijkertijd een zeer gepassioneerd schrijfster. Haar persoonlijke verhaal vertelt ze in deze podcast. Hoe ze begon met het schrijven van boeken over huisdieren, waar wereldwijd 9 miljoen exemplaren van werden verkocht. Toen ze bekendmaakte dat ze thrillers wilde gaan schrijven, werd ze niet door iedereen aangemoedigd. Maar ze liet zich niet tegenhouden. Gesteund door haar jeugdliefde Berry, werd ze een million seller met haar spannende verhalen. Did you know it's okay to laugh about your struggles and being drunk? Turns out it's a solution to your reaching your maximum potential.In today's light hearted, value packed, podcast episode #209, there is a lot of laughing, so don't miss it. I interview my amazing client, Monica to share her triumph to accessing maximum potential. Monica shares about how growing up in Spain and traveling the world as a dancer, alcohol was never even questioned as something you wouldn't do. It was everywhere, all the time. As she shifted carriers to land in Germany with her husband and open her own Pilates studio, alcohol become more of a necessity that she felt controlled by. Most days were filled with low energy and anxiety about the beautiful life she had created. She knew her attempts to do it alone hadn't worked and she needed support because she was exhausted from the daily cycle she was stuck in.The moment Monica joined my private program, she felt instant relief: The day has finally come, was her thought. Some of the topics Monica shares from her experience today:Opening your perspective and taking responsibility. It's just your thoughts and your choice. The first month of feeling good. Stress created by alcohol. The importance of having a belief goal.The value of a coach's support. Knowing who your drinking companions are. The first holiday she had alcohol-free. You can change your beliefs by changing your thoughts. The benefit of failure.Plus so much more. Come to be inspired, stay to create change. Monica, thank you for being such an graceful example of what's possible!Enjoy the show!MaryQuitting drinking doesn't take more time, it takes new thinking. You are focused on the wrong perspective: trying to change so alcohol can stick around, rather than changing so alcohol doesn't matter.The faster you can get alcohol out of your MIND, the faster you can enjoy the beautiful life you have and the next goals you want to reach. J.P. Tuthill is a career Special Forces Soldier with a passion for helping others. He is a graduate of Grand Canyon University, a family man, a sports coach, and a father of four happy, healthy, and successful kids. After a 20 year career in the U.S. Army, J.P. and his family decided it was time to turn the page and begin their next chapter. As a Special Forces engineer and Team Sergeant, he had a wealth of knowledge, skills, and experience that was not necessarily transferable to the civilian job market, and really had no idea what he wanted to do in his next chapter in life. However, this is common for most career military veterans. In April 2020, COVID shut down the island of Oahu where they lived just two days after they sold their house. They had no idea how fast the entire world would be turned upside down. In spite of the uncertainty in May 2020, he and his family decided to stay the course and leave Hawaii to move to back Scottsdale, AZ as they had planned. His wife would begin her new job, his step-daughter would begin her freshman year at Arizona State University, and their youngest had no idea how challenging her new life in AZ during COVID would be. With only three months remaining on active duty, J.P. committed all of his time and energy to find his next job, unfortunately, during COVID, it was an incredibly difficult task. He followed all of the guidance he'd received, used all of the tools and resources he had, exploited his network for opportunities only to end up with no job offers. In October 2020, during the height of his stress, anxiety, and uncertainty he found an opportunity to become an independent licensed health insurance advisor. Blinded by the thought that high income and working for yourself was the key to happiness, he began the journey to become a licensed health insurance agent. After six difficult months, J.P. realized he was working seven days a week in the wrong industry, for the wrong reasons. The job was unfulfilling and it was creating more stress on his family than before. In April 2021, J.P. began to explore new opportunities and came across an ideal role with a veteran non-profit, The Honor Foundation (THF). He learned that THF was laser-focused on helping Special Operations veterans succeed in finding purpose and fulfillment in their careers after the military, something he knew he was missing. After interviewing and winning the job he began his work at THF in June 2021 as the Director of Impact, Central. He quickly realized after attending phase one of THF's program what he was missing… His why. His purpose. It was then he realized that it was his mission to raise awareness and secure resources to ensure America's elite men and women have the tools, education, and network necessary to help them successfully transition to a career filled with purpose and passion after leaving the military. As a servant leader, J.P. has found his calling working with incredible donors, businesses, and foundations who have a passion for supporting America's elite veterans to ensure they have the best opportunity at being successful after years of honorable service to our Nation. https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeffrey-p-tuthill-jp/;

“Life is my passion and that means a lot of things” ~ Dolphin Kasper Dolphin and I talk about living in a world with so many choices and how it hasn't translated into health and more well-being for us. Through distraction, we have been moved away from the very center of health. Dolphin shares how it is hard for many of us to realize we already have what we need inside us. Due to our self-belief of not feeling enough or worthy we forget that we have the ability. When we have that negative belief, it becomes embedded into the core of everything we do. For example, even if we start a fitness routine and change our diet the underlining belief structure is still there. We then tend to structure our lives from that underlying place. Dolphin reminds us to remember that “You are enough, that you have what you need to move forward and you are already whole in the way that matters most.” We discuss when we become more courageous and intentional how it will take us well beyond where we have been before. Dolphin shares the importance of understanding that when we are at a crossroads we need to determine if we are ready to make something happen and if we aren't that is okay. We need to come to terms with the reality of transition being potentially difficult and hard work. Dolphin says “Every day we are going to have parts of us that are differing in desire, in sense of what's right and wrong and what's next” We also dig into the topic of fear and what that looks like for many of us and how to use it as an asset. A question Dolphin likes to ask is “are you benefiting from the payoff of fear?” He reminds us that “fear has a role to play…it is an intelligent response to a dangerous world.” This episode is filled with many wellness nuggets we have shared some with you here. Wellness Nuggets; · Start with the foundation when determining your new pathway. · Search the inventory of our lives and find the people places and things that already nourish us. – Make time for those things! · Don't avoid the things we know that will pull us forward, for fear of leaving our old life behind. · Ask yourself this powerful question; o When I find myself at the end of my days will I be happy with the path I chose for my life? · Remember fear has a role to play, and clear the path of judgment We invite you to ignite the Wellness Warrior in YOU! About the Guest: Dolphin Kasper is a Canadian born author, transformational communicator and human potential enthusiast. He has been speaking and facilitating at workshops relating to empowerment, peak performance and communication strategies nationally and internationally for over 20 years.
