In this episode of the Maximum Lawyer Podcast, Tyson interviews Adam Williams, a lawyer and entrepreneur passionate about personal branding and social media growth. The discussion covers practical strategies, the importance of authenticity, and the challenges lawyers face in building an online presence. Tyson and Adam chat about how lawyers can create engaging videos for their business. One thing to keep in mind about creating engaging videos is that audiences love the human connection. Videos that are perfect and edited using every tool don't get the most views. For Adam, his successful videos are the ones where he is using selfie mode and walking down the street, within imperfect sound in the background and stumbling over his words. This is because these videos are more real and authentic. It is something to keep in mind when creating videos.Adam provides some insights on starting from ground zero when it comes to creating a presence online. It is best to find a few accounts that you enjoy and take from them. Look at what they do and how well it works. From there, you can “rip off and deploy”. Use those concepts as ideas for how you create your videos because there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Work On Your Game: Discipline, Confidence & Mental Toughness For Sports, Business & Life | Mental Health & Mindset

This one is for leaders and high performers who keep lowering themselves just to feel relatable. In this episode, I explain how trying to relate to everyone can quietly weaken your authority and pull you away from your real standard. When I stay at my level and focus on clarity instead of approval, the right people rise to meet me. Relatability may feel safe, but leadership is built on direction, not shared weakness. The people who truly matter don't need me to blend in, they need me to lead. Show Notes: [07:14]#1 Relatability is a strategy for avoiding rejection.  [11:23]#2 People trust consistency more than they trust similarity. In this episode of The Growth Minded Accountant, host Lee Reams II is joined by Rebekah Barton, Chief Visibility Officer, for a timely conversation on what actually drives firm growth in 2026—and why positioning alone is no longer enough. Most tax and accounting firms understand positioning. They've defined their services, clarified who they serve, and invested in looking professional. But in a market crowded with competent options and shaped by AI-driven discovery, clarity alone doesn't convert.Once a prospect knows a firm might be for them, the real decision begins: Do I trust these people? Do I like how they think? Would I confidently refer them? This episode explores why relatability has become the missing layer—the factor that turns relevance into selection and good clients into consistent referrals.Lee and Rebekah break down how buying decisions now happen long before a first conversation, why safe and neutral messaging often leads to being forgettable, and how firms that feel human, easy to describe, and aligned with their clients' mindset stand out in a crowded market. They also clarify a common misconception: relatability isn't oversharing or personal branding fluff. It's a deliberate system—built into messaging, content, reviews, and client experience—that helps the right people feel confident choosing and recommending your firm. This conversation is especially relevant for small and mid-sized tax and accounting firms that rely on referrals, want better-fit clients, and are navigating how marketing, trust, and AI intersect in today's buying environment. As the profession becomes more automated, this episode makes one thing clear: being unmistakably human isn't a risk—it's an advantage.

This week, we're framing the executive job search through a sales lens. I sat down with my friend and sales trainer Carlos M. Garcia to unpack why most executives stall. It's not because of the market, but because they refuse to see the job search as a sales process. Sales isn't persuasion. It's decision friction removal. The same skill that closes deals is the skill that earns trust, momentum, and offers in a career transition. Executives who avoid this reality stay stuck. Key Takeaways (Read These First) • The job search mirrors a sales pipeline. Hope is not a strategy. • Sales fails when friction is high. Job searches fail for the same reason. • Corporate language kills clarity and trust. • Relatability beats credentials in high-stakes conversations. • Rejection is feedback, not identity damage. Some podcasts become part of your routine not because they teach you something new every time, but because they make you feel connected. Jonathan Howard leads the charge, with commentary and real world examples from me and the rest of the team, as we take a close look at what makes a podcast truly obsession worthy. We break down the storytelling framework behind Normal Gossip and talk about why relatability matters more than celebrity, how listener participation turns an audience into a community, and why tone and emotional safety matter just as much as structure and format. This episode explores how stories build trust, how familiar rituals keep people coming back, and why creating space for shared experience often matters more than chasing metrics. If you have been thinking about how to deepen listener connection and build something people want to return to again and again, there is a lot here to reflect on.Episode highlights:[2:00] – Celebrating nearly four years of Podcasting Morning Chat[3:30] – Marc shares his upcoming Podfest talk on community-first growth[7:45] – What makes a podcast “obsession worthy”[9:01] – Breaking down the Normal Gossip concept and format[10:31] – Why audience-submitted stories create ownership and loyalty[14:46] – Gossip as storytelling, social data, and human connection[18:30] – Relatability as a trust-building strategy[21:31] – Asking better questions to deepen audience connection[23:24] – Sharing mistakes as a way to build credibility[26:04] – Why relatability beats celebrity every time[30:41] – The role of character development in bingeable storytelling[37:37] – Why rituals and structure make podcasts comforting and familiar[38:58] – Creating fandom, shared language, and community identity[41:49] – Ending with reflection, meaning, and emotional safety[44:23] – Storytelling as the antidote to AI-generated samenessLinks & Resources:Join The Empowered Podcasting Facebook Group:www.facebook.com/groups/empoweredpodcastingNormal Gossip:https://pod.link/1597761181Empowered Podcasting Conference Video Recordings:https://ironickmedia.com/courses/epc2025/Podcasting Morning Chat:https://www.podcastingmorningchat.comRemember to rate, follow, share, and review our podcast. In this December bonus teaser, I'm kicking things off with some housekeeping — including when Queen Things returns for Season 4. Then we dive straight into one of the most interesting conversations I've seen in pop culture lately: Charlie XCX's Substack essay on the “realities” of being a pop star, and Swiftologist's take on why pop doesn't make icons anymore. From authenticity to escapism, parasocial closeness to moral responsibility, I'm breaking down what we actually expect from the artists we love, and what happens when relatability becomes the whole brand. It's messy, it's nuanced, and yes, I have thoughts. If you want the full episode — including my take on the Taylor/Trump discourse, Jaclyn Hill, DEI backlash, and this week's Black News — become a Queen Things subscriber on Apple Podcasts, Patreon, or Substack. In this episode of Selective Ignorance, host Mandii B sits down with comedian Jay Jurden for a dynamic and humorous deep dive into today’s most pressing cultural and political conversations. The episode opens with Mandii welcoming listeners and sharing updates from her week [00:00 Introduction and Book Promotion], setting a lighthearted yet inquisitive tone. She then introduces Jay, kicking off a conversation that’s equal parts sharp-witted and socially aware [00:54 Local Politics and the New Face of Leadership], as they unpack how new political voices are reshaping local communities and bringing authenticity back to leadership. The discussion shifts as Jay reflects on his latest comedy special and how personal experience informs his work [02:05 Guest Introduction and Comedy Special Discussion], blending humor with honesty about identity, politics, and social responsibility. Mandii and Jay dive into the power of using comedy as both a coping mechanism and a form of activism [04:34 Comedy and Personal Experiences], offering listeners a behind-the-scenes look at how laughter can bridge uncomfortable conversations. The energy picks up as the two tackle the realities of gentrification and community integration [09:19 Gentrification and Community Integration], particularly how cultural shifts transform neighborhoods and the tension between revitalization and displacement. From there, the duo unpacks the blurred line between flirting and harassment in politics [13:19 Politics and Flirting vs. Harassment], using recent stories from New York’s local political scene [16:27 New York Politics and Relatability] as examples of how power and perception influence public trust. The conversation takes a more analytical turn as Mandii and Jay discuss the government shutdown and its ripple effects on working-class Americans [21:47 Government Shutdown and Its Impact], linking it to the larger issue of SNAP benefits and political responsibility [24:53 SNAP Benefits and Political Responsibility]. They emphasize how political decisions directly affect everyday lives, challenging listeners to think beyond party lines. Transitioning to the digital age, the hosts dive into digital racism and AI representation [30:32 Digital Racism and AI Representation], dissecting how algorithms perpetuate bias and how emerging technologies, like AI-generated music, are reshaping creative industries. Jay shares his insights on navigating identity in a digital world where authenticity is often at odds with virality. The tone lightens as they celebrate the vibrancy of The Bronx’s culture and community [37:33 Exploring The Bronx: Culture and Community], before taking a curious detour into “cruising” culture [38:21 Understanding Cruising: A Cultural Phenomenon], exploring its historical and social significance with humor and openness. The two then reflect on how comedy intersects with politics [40:57 Comedy and Politics: Navigating Sensitive Topics], particularly how comedians balance freedom of speech with accountability in an increasingly polarized society. As the discussion unfolds, Mandii and Jay examine AI’s growing influence in music through the emergence of artists like Zaniyah [47:03 AI in Music: The Rise of Zaniyah], questioning what creativity means when technology starts to mimic human emotion. The dialogue seamlessly transitions into celebrity controversies [54:03 Celebrity Controversies: The Case of Nicki Minaj], where they analyze how fame, social media, and public opinion collide in shaping narratives around high-profile figures. Finally, the episode winds down on a reflective and empowering note as Mandii shares her appreciation for dining alone [01:03:16 Dining Alone: Celebrating Solitude], turning the simple act into a metaphor for self-care, confidence, and independence. The conversation closes with heartfelt reflections on community and support [01:10:40 Closing Thoughts: Community and Support], reminding listeners that balance, boundaries, and self-awareness are key to thriving in both personal and social spaces. “No Holes Barred: A Dual Manifesto Of Sexual Exploration And Power” w/ Tempest X!Sale Link Follow the host on Social MediaMandii B Instagram/X @fullcourtpumps Follow the guest on Social Media @jayjurden Follow the show on Social MediaInstagram @selectiveignorancepodTiktok @selective.ignoranceX/Twitter @selectiveig_podSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Click here now to access the tool > ‍ How to Use Storytelling to Build Trust and Connect with Your Dream Clients Have you ever wanted to use more storytelling in your business and marketing, but weren't sure where to start.  ‍ Or perhaps you struggled to strike the right balance between compelling stories and oversharing? ‍ For many business owners, storytelling feels like a mystery. You know it can help you connect more deeply with your audience, but how do you do it well? And how do you find the right stories? ‍ The truth is, stories don't just explain what you do. They show people why you do it — and that's what builds trust, relatability, and resonance. ‍ So this week in The Brilliant Business Book Festival, I was delighted to speak with Susan Payton, author of The Business of Stories. ‍ Her approach is refreshingly simple: storytelling doesn't mean baring your soul or making yourself the hero. It means finding the gift in your experiences and sharing it in a way that helps others. ‍ Susan shows us that stories aren't about performance. They're about connection — letting your audience see your motivation, your values, and the heart behind your work. And she shared exactly how to get started. ‍ ‍ Prefer to WATCH instead of read? https://www.youtube.com/@melittacampbell ‍ ‍ ‍ “One story, one message, one call to action — that's what people connect with.” – Susan Payton, The Business of Stories ‍ Why Stories Build Trust When you share a story, people don't just learn what you do, they understand why you do it. That sense of motivation builds trust in a way that polished marketing copy never can. Susan has seen this first-hand: when she shared her story with a group of 1,500 women, she gained more paying clients in six weeks than in the entire year before. The difference? She let people see the passion behind her work. ‍ ‍ Keeping Stories Simple and Relatable Susan warns that many people try to tell too much at once. The secret is to keep it simple: one story, one message, one call to action. ‍ Relatability doesn't come from endless details. It comes from clarity around how you were thinking and feeling in the moment. That's what your audience connects with, as they can relate that to their own experiences.  ‍ ‍ “Stories don't need to be dramatic to make an impact. Instead of asking: ‘Do I have a story?', the better question is: ‘Which story will serve my audience today?'” – Susan Payton, The Business of Stories ‍ ‍ ‍ Finding Stories Everywhere One of Susan's favourite reminders is that stories are all around us. And they don't need to be dramatic to make an impact. In fact, often it's the simple tales of our everyday life that are the most relatable. ‍ You could share a story that relates to: A moment from your childhood A client's journey Something you saw on TV Or even a lesson from everyday family life The question is not “do I have a story?” but “which story will serve my audience today?” ‍ A Favourite Story: The Gift Box Stall Susan shared the story of a small craft stall she came across in Salisbury. Their sign read: “It only takes a moment to create a moment.” ‍ The couple explained how small acts of kindness: cups of tea, hugs and kind words, had carried them through tough times. And how that prompted them to create their gift box business, making it easy for more people to share a moment of kindness.  ‍ Their story touched Susan, and she still remembers it - and shares it with others - to this day. Her example highlights how we don't remember polished pitches. We remember stories that move us and we pass them on for years. ‍ ‍ Rewriting the Stories in Your Head The biggest barrier to storytelling often isn't finding stories or deciding which ones to share and when. It's the unhelpful stories we tell ourselves: “What if people judge me?” “What if they think I'm attention-seeking?” “What if I say the wrong thing?” Susan shared how she overcame a crippling fear of public speaking by reframing it: it wasn't about her. It was about the people who might need her message. ‍ Tweet: “Your story isn't about you. It's for the people you're here to help.” – Susan Payton, The Business of Stories Making Your Story Work for Your Audience Susan also reminds us that stories have to be purposeful. Whether you're writing an “About Me” page, crafting a keynote talk or simply posting on LinkedIn, your story needs to point back to the audience. ‍ It's not about being the hero. It's about positioning yourself as the guide, the right person to help your dream client take the next step. ‍ Final Thought to Reflect On You don't need a dramatic backstory to make an impact. Often, it's the everyday stories — the small lessons, the simple shifts — that resonate the most. ‍ So, what ordinary story could you share today that might spark connection, trust or action in your audience? ‍ Want to explore what this could look like for you? ‍Learn more about the ways you can work with Melitta Campbell to uncover your Value Sweet Spot to market, sell and grow your business confidently, and always on your terms. Working with Melitta >  ‍ ‍ About Susan When Susan told her ‘ordinary' story to 1,500 business owners, back in 2015, the response ‍ from people who resonated with it and felt connected to her as a result of hearing it, blew her away! ‍ In fact, that moment completely changed her business - and her life. ‍ Susan has since worked with entrepreneurs all over the world, written the international bestselling book, The Business of Stories, hosts the podcast of the same name, and become a leading authority on how to use storytelling to stand out in your industry. ‍ Thousands have used her simple framework to share their message with impact, attract ideal clients and grow their business. ‍ Susan has also spoken on stages from Brighton to Barcelona, guested on panels and podcasts and run numerous masterclasses, guest expert sessions and workshops, both online and in person. ‍ In a world where it's getting harder and harder to be heard above the noise, Susan is passionate about showing business owners how to clearly articulate their value and speak to the right people, at the right time, with a simple message and a great story. ‍ Read Susan's Book: The Business of Stories ‍ Connect with Susan Website    LinkedIn ‍ About Your Host, Melitta Campbell Melitta Campbell is an award-winning business coach, TEDx speaker, author of A Shy Girl's Guide to Networking and founder of the Dream Clients Club. ‍ Through her Value WhisperingTM Blueprint, she helps introverted female entrepreneurs build quietly impactful businesses that grow through clarity, trust, and alignment. ‍ Learn more about working with Melitta here ‍ ‍ Loved this episode? There, Elizabeth is leading content, thought leadership, comms & customer marketing. She has overhauled their SEO program, resulting in top 10 ranking for high-difficulty, high-volume keywords. She also led the creation of an annual benchmark report, reaching 3 million+ impressions. She leverages internal thought leaders for social media, videos, webinars, speaking opps and written content. She previously served as Director of Communications & Content at Ekos and Marketing Communications Manager at Passport. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Alix Earle:Consistency builds credibility. Viral moments come and go, but Alix Earle's staying power lies in her relentless consistency. No shortcuts, just commitment. It's a reminder that content success isn't just about innovation; it's about endurance. Elizabeth says, “Alix, not only did she get rewarded from doing that, she was on TikTok for a long time before she really got big. But even since making it, she's still posting multiple times a day. She is just there doing it, grinding. All the time.” In B2B, the same rule applies: keep posting, keep showing up.Honor your origin story. Growth doesn't mean forgetting who got you there. Alix still makes the content that first drew her audience in, while smartly layering in new formats. In B2B, you must evolve, but stay grounded. Elizabeth reminds us, “You gotta remember who got you here. You gotta remember your core customer base. You gotta remember the people who you know are…the ones that pay the bills.” Make sure to have a balance, especially as you scale.Find the fun and show it. Audiences can feel when you're enjoying what you're creating. It's what makes content magnetic. Alix's success didn't just come from consistency, it came from joy. She leaned into the formats that were fun for her, and her audience leaned in too. Elizabeth puts it plainly: “When someone is excited about the things they're making, it automatically makes them more interesting. And we just have to lean on that.” In B2B, it's easy to default to polished, sanitized messaging. But the real key is letting your content creators tap into what actually excites them. If your team thinks it's boring, your audience will too.Quotes“ We think, B2B, it needs to be polished, it needs to be sanitized. But the story is the interesting part. That's where someone can relate to it. That's where somebody can get hooked in. That's why you care. And I think a lot of times we forget about that.”“We want B2B content to be polished. Sanitized. But the story — that's the interesting part. That's what people actually relate to. We forget that too often. The story is why people care.”“ I think it's good to be a consumer. As a marketer, you're putting content out in the world, you need to consume it. But…you don't need to be going to a B2B workshop. You can watch TikTok. You can watch people like Alix Earle and other folks and get inspiration from what their doing. You can look at what YouTubers are doing. Everything people are doing is a marketing decisions and there's things you can take away from that.”“Influencers start off because they thought, ‘Oh, it'd be kind of fun to make a video.' That's the initial nugget.  And as marketers who, for a living, have chosen to create content and do marketing. We also need to think, ‘Hey, it'd be a little fun to make a video.' That's where the start of it has to come from.”Time Stamps[00:55] Meet Elizabeth Strickert, Director of Content Marketing at A-LIGN[01:03] Why Alix Earle?[01:56] The Role of Director of Content Marketing at A-LIGN[02:29] The Rise of Alix Earl[13:41] Relatability and Authenticity in Influencer Marketing[21:07] The Power of Parasocial Influence[29:02] B2B Marketing Takeaways From Alix Earle[45:59] A-LIGN's Content Strategy[47:32] Final Thoughts and TakeawaysLinksConnect with Elizabeth on LinkedInLearn more about A-LIGNAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company.
