The invisible woman still leaves quite a gap when she disappears. You might not have seen her smoothing your path this morning, ensuring clean clothes, full bellies, and petrol in cars. She paid bills, kept WiFi flowing, Netflix streaming, remembered gym renewals and doctor's appointments—putting herself last on every list. Until she doesn't. When the invisible woman packs her bags and buggers right off, suddenly her space becomes blindingly clear. Meet Monique van Tulder—mum, wife, woman who forgot to live her life. She took a grown-up gap year, went to change lightbulbs, and didn't return for months. Her sons call it "the time mum got mad and took off." She calls it life-changing—saving her marriage by renegotiating it entirely. You can find Monique's book A Grown Up's Gap Year here and her podcast here. What if midlife wasn't a crisis but a calling? When entrepreneur Janet Lewis hit that inevitable midlife “what now” moment, she didn't retreat or play it safe. She reinvented herself. After decades in e-commerce and corporate consulting, she traded the hustle for human connection and built a thriving network that's redefining how women in business support each other. In this episode, Janet joins me to talk about what it really takes to pivot in midlife and build something meaningful. We dig into the messy middle between who you were and who you want to become and what it takes to make that leap without losing your mind, your money, or your confidence. Together we explore: • How to recognize when it's time for a change and what to do about it • The truth about midlife fear, reinvention, and finding purpose after forty • Why women need to stop discounting their worth and start charging like grown-ass professionals • How to build a network that is based on collaboration, not competition • The importance of boundaries, community, and showing up even when you don't feel ready Janet's story is proof that midlife isn't the end of opportunity. It's the sweet spot where wisdom, experience, and courage finally meet. Her pivot from running an online business to creating a thriving women's community shows that when you lead with purpose and connection, everything else follows. So if you've ever looked around your life and thought, “Is this it?” consider this your sign. Reinvention doesn't require starting over. It just asks that you finally start showing up as yourself. Have a listen to Janet Lewis - Founder, Business Owner, Connectiavist and Eternal Optimist

Shelly shares the real story behind her family's move from Dallas to Boise—how a quiet nudge became a series of brave, practical steps. This episode is a hand on your shoulder for midlife women who feel the tension between a “good life” and an aligned next chapter. You'll feel seen, supported, and walk away with a simple rhythm to make confident, faith-forward decisions (without blowing up your life overnight).Key Takeaways:You're not alone. Wanting “different” in midlife doesn't make you ungrateful—it makes you honest. The regret test helps: Picture porch-you at 80. What would you regret not trying?Four-word prayer to steady you: Direction • Clarity • Discernment • Courage.Start tiny (coffee date, not wedding): One low-risk step (email the realtor, DM a mentor, write 5 bullets) creates momentum and clarity.Collect breadcrumbs: Log confirmations and roadblocks—patterns will guide timing and reduce second-guessing.Expect wobbly nights: Hard seasons don't mean wrong decisions; look for “God-winks” and practical mercies along the way. There's always a paper to sign: When it's time, take the leap. Let your fear of staying stuck be smaller than your faith to move.Action beats overthinking: God often confirms in motion.Scripture anchor: Proverbs 3:5–6 — Trust before certainty; paths straighten as you walk. If you've been craving a more soulful connection to your body, your intuition, and the way you lead your life—this episode is a breath of fresh air. It's not just about horses. It's about coming home to you. I'm so delighted to bring you today's deeply moving conversation with transformational coach and equine guide, Sue Willoughby, founder of Willoughby Coaching and host of the Midlife Strategies for Badass Women podcast. This episode explores something I've been fascinated by for years: the intuitive, spiritual, and healing power of horses—and how they reflect back to us the truth of who we are. My closest friends are horse women. I love the whole intuitive aspect of horses and how they teach us the importance of being grounded, authentic, and transparent. From my early mentor Kendall Summerhawk's teachings in her book Brilliance Unbridled, to Sue's equine-assisted coaching practice, I've witnessed again and again how horses become sacred mirrors of our inner lives. They teach us about leadership, presence, boundaries, and the wisdom of being in a "herd"—a community where everyone matters and connection is everything. Sue brings her lived wisdom, humor, resilience, and story to this episode in a way that's both grounding and inspiring. She shares candidly about her path: ·      Growing up in hardship and learning to self-soothe through her bond with horses ·      Coming out gay as a young woman and navigating her identity through decades of growth and reinvention ·      Saying yes to risk, creativity, and change—leaving behind a 6-figure job to follow her calling ·      How skydiving became the metaphor (and literal leap!) into her next career And at the heart of her message is this powerful truth: Horses are intuitive, present, and emotionally honest. When we partner with them, they help us become the same. You'll also learn: What equine-assisted coaching actually looks like in practice Why Sue believes working with horses is not just healing—but life-changing for many women in midlife How horses sense and reflect back our incongruence, helping us re-align with our intuition The power of somatic awareness in decision-making Her involvement in the documentary film Rescued Hearts and what it revealed to her about communal healing Sue's work guides women from feeling burned out and boxed in to becoming resilient, radiant, and unshakable. Sue's secondary focus and passion is real estate and podcasting. She teaches real estate investors and realtors how to build a podcast platform for their brand. We're bombarded with headlines about the “downside” of midlife - wrinkles, weight gain, and waning energy. But here's the truth: this season isn't just about loss, it's about renovation. In this episode, we sit down with Louise Neil, Women's Career Empowerment Strategist and founder of Menomentum, a movement reshaping how menopause is understood and supported in the workplace. Louise knows firsthand what it's like to hit pause, pivot, and rebuild a life that actually fits. From stepping away from a successful career to launching a movement, Louise shares how she learned to stop staying too long in places that didn't fit, and how menopause became the unexpected catalyst for self-discovery. We dig into: Why menopause isn't just a personal milestone - it's a workplace, cultural, and economic issue. How to tell the difference between burnout, stress, and hormonal shifts. Why symptom tracking can change everything. How to rewrite your midlife story - with confidence and clarity. Because let's face it - women in midlife are in their prime, not their decline. And the more we talk about what's really going on, the more power we take back — at work, at home, and in our own heads. If you've ever felt the itch to “renovate your life,” this one's for you.

In this deeply personal episode, I share a journal entry I wrote just weeks before dropping my boys off at college, closing my business, grieving friendship shifts, and walking through the final days of my mother-in-law's Alzheimer's journey. This isn't a strategy session. It's an honest reflection on what it feels like to let go of everything familiar—and face the silence that follows. I call it The Void—and if you've ever been there too, I hope this episode helps you feel seen, supported, and a little less alone.Whether you're grieving a role, a relationship, or just sitting in a season of waiting, this conversation is for you.Key Takeaways:You're not the only one feeling lost after the kids leave or the business endsLetting go isn't failure—it's often the first step of obedienceSometimes the hardest part isn't what we lose—it's the quiet space left behindYou can't out-strategize surrender or hustle through heartbreakGod is still working—even when life feels foggy, slow, or silentThe daily things (walks, dishes, dinner) are sacredIt's okay to just be here, to breathe, and to trust His timing Resources:Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/shellyniehaus/Simple Shifts Newsletter: https://resources.shellyniehaus.com/midlifeWomen Entrepreneurs In Prayer Call - https://resources.shellyniehaus.com/prayercall

That's basically been me for years every time my friend Callie King casually mentions her life.So in this episode, I finally scratch that itch and go full nosy bitch mode. Because Callie is one of those people who lives so boldly and so intentionally that you kinda want to hate her, except she's also really chill and generous and has zero ego about it. Like, this woman has lived in a Chevy Tracker with her dog, owns multiple income properties, built an adobe house in Mexico by hand, and manifested a partner straight off her dream board. And she makes it all look effortless. But here's the thing. None of this happened because she was born rich or “just lucky.” It's mindset. It's values. It's choosing freedom over fear, again and again and again. We talk about how to make bold, “unreasonable” choices even when your bank account says nope, how to check yourself when you're operating from hustle-and-grind scarcity mode, and what it actually means to create a life that feels like yours. This episode is a wake-up call, but like, the loving kind. Jennie Garth is best known to Gen-Xers for her iconic role playing Kelly Taylor on the megahit television series Beverly Hills 90210.  Fans of the show may remember Kelly's pivotal “I Choose Me” episode (airing thirty years ago this past May) when she stood between dreamboats Brandon and Dylan and declared that she was choosing herself.  Jennie shaped an entire era of pop culture, and now, at fifty-two, she is embracing an incredible new chapter of life—one filled with bold conversations about aging, empowerment, self-love, and the beautiful messiness of midlife. Through her thought-provoking “I Choose Me” podcast and a forthcoming memoir of the same name, Jennie is using her platform to champion other women over fifty by challenging outdated narratives around aging and sparking empowering conversations. Today, Jennie, Jen and Amy talk about what choosing yourself looks like on a normal day, and what it means to be graduate beyond our growing family years into a more independent space where a new age of self-discovery is possible because, as Jennie reminds us, choosing “you” isn't selfish—it's the most powerful act of self-respect. Thought-provoking Quotes: “It was through my conversations with fans, whether it was on social media. or at autograph events that I kept hearing, ‘I didn't know I could choose me until Kelly Taylor told me it was an option.'” – Jennie Garth “If I had gone to college and lived a normal life, then I would have learned things that I didn't actually end up learning until I was in my forties and fifties. So now I'm just searching like, ‘What did I miss and how can I be better? How can I learn more about myself?'” – Jennie Garth “You look around on social media and you see other people's lives and think, ‘My God, they have it all figured out.' And I just never felt like that personally.” – Jennie Garth “Loving yourself is a journey and it's imperative to your wellbeing.” – Jennie Garth “I don't want to please people by being what they want me to be or fitting into this character's shoes. I love acting and I'll never not love acting. But I had to take the bull by the horns and take control of my life.” – Jennie Garth “Competition amongst women was real. It was just part of the  world I grew up in. I had to be better than the next girl. What a waste of so much precious time and energy. I used to be intimidated by other women's success or knowledge or position. I kick myself for all the years of lost opportunity of that kind of camaraderie and connection with other women. This week's guest ultrarunner Megan Eastwood is a portrait of perseverance. She's lived through trauma, battled eating disorders, and been flattened by perimenopause. Through it all, she's learned, grown, evolved, and ultimately thrived. Now 55 and postmenopausal, Megan is out in nature every week, running, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, basically anything she can do outdoors. She's completed numerous multi-day running events, where she generally posts top five in her age group, and currently has her sights set on 70.3 Ironman triathlon events. We talk all about her journey and learnings and what she wants other women like her to know.Megan Eastwood never considered herself athletic. She was the girl no-one wanted on their sports team at school. Now 50+ she's finding the confidence to see what her body is capable of.She found ultra trail running in the UK in her early 20s, but an eating disorder ended any sports activity by the age of 30. Through career, marriage, and raising a family, she hit 39, overweight and not even able to run around the block. She knew she couldn't enter her 40s like this and started running again. Living in Vancouver, Canada she quickly found the ultra-marathon scene.Perimenopause hit hard. Like many women she couldn't understand why everything was going wrong. She dug into research and resources and turned her situation around. Her message to anyone struggling to stay fit through menopause is keep going (and strength train), you will come through the other side eventually.Subscribe to the Feisty 40+ newsletter: https://feistymedia.ac-page.com/feisty-40-sign-up-page Follow Us on Instagram:Feisty Menopause: @feistymenopause Hit Play Not Pause Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/807943973376099 Support our Partners:Midi Health: You Deserve to Feel Great.
