“Midlife is not the beginning of the end — it's the beginning of alignment.”Today, I'm in this milestone of 200th episodes of The BraveHearted Woman Podcast, and I'm reflecting on nearly five years, 200 conversations, and countless lessons I've learned while walking alongside brave, bold women navigating midlife. This episode is both a celebration and a heartfelt message to every woman who feels stuck, hesitant, or afraid to step into her next season.I share what 200 episodes have taught me about midlife transformation, reinvention, and confidence — starting with this truth: playing small always costs more than being brave. Midlife is not the beginning of the end; it's the beginning of alignment. It's a season where clarity increases, courage is required, and ignoring your calling becomes more painful than answering it.In this solo episode, I talk honestly about fear — how it whispers, sounds reasonable, and keeps so many women delaying their dreams. I address the lies that tell us it's too late, that our best years are behind us, or that someone else is more qualified. I've learned that fear, not age or lack of resources, is the real enemy of midlife growth and purpose.I also share what I've witnessed in hundreds of interviews with courageous women: women who have faced abuse, loss, incarceration, health challenges, menopause, career upheaval, and identity shifts — yet still chose bravery. I've learned that courage isn't a personality trait; it's something we cultivate through small, faithful decisions made one step at a time. This episode speaks directly to women over 40 and 50 who are longing for clarity, confidence, and purpose. Whether you're considering a midlife career change, starting over at 50, launching a business, or redefining success and joy in this season, I remind you that there is no perfect time — only the decision to move forward. As I reflect on 200 episodes, I talk about consistency, obedience, and showing up even when it felt uncomfortable or uncertain. I share why regret is far heavier than the risk of trying, why we don't outgrow our calling, but we do outgrow our containers, and why endings are often necessary for new beginnings in midlife. This episode is an invitation to stop waiting, stop shrinking, and stop negotiating with fear. You don't need to leap — you just need to decide. One brave step can change the entire trajectory of your life. After 200 episodes, my question to you is the same as it's always been: Is it time for you to find your brave and live your dreams?Timestamps:0:00 - Intro1:11 - This is my 200th episode!!1:52 - Why our brains resist change3:33 - How midlife is not the end, but a new beginning5:09 - Lesson #1: Playing small always costs more than being brave7:18 - Lesson #2: Many midlife women decide to play small9:36 - Lesson #3: Many women are afraid to be invisible in midlife transition12:20 - Lesson #4: Midlife women can do hard things14:29 - Lesson #5: There is no right time19:40 - Lesson #6: You don't outgrow your calling20:53 - Questions to ask yourself todayQuotations:“Procrastination has a price tag, and many women are paying for it with their calling.”“Courage is not a personality trait; it's something you cultivate.”“Regret is heavier than the risk of doing something afraid.”“Brave doesn't mean reckless — it means responsive to the calling you feel.”“One obedience step can change the...

Growing up on a North Carolina tobacco farm, Michael spent decades proving his worth while crippling anxiety shadowed his success. "Everything I ever wanted came true," he reveals. "And that's when everything broke down." Through his Vis-Ability Alignment Method, Michael now helps others dissolve unconscious patterns in days rather than decades. Stop managing triggers. Start releasing them. The difference? Freedom. Michael Carr—The Mind Alchemist—helps people discover and dissolve the unconscious patterns keeping them stuck, anxious, and disconnected. After nearly four decades managing teams of over 570 people in high-pressure environments, Michael appeared successful on the outside while battling crippling anxiety within. His breakthrough came from releasing—not managing—the hidden beliefs driving his resistance. Through his signature Vis-Ability Alignment Method, Michael guides clients to transform inner resistance into clarity and authentic connection in days rather than decades. He lives in California and offers transformational coaching at michaelcarrcoaching.com.About The Show: The Life in Transition, hosted by Art Blanchford focuses on making the most of the changes we're given every week. In this heartfelt Community Conversation, Angel Miraya joins Shelly to talk about the complicated, beautiful season of midlife where multiple roles collide—mom, grandmother, daughter, caregiver, and woman rediscovering her own purpose. Angel shares how running four half-marathons in 28 days became a spiritual reset, how she's supporting her daughter through single motherhood, and why perspective, community, and prayer are everything. Her story offers encouragement for every woman navigating transitions she didn't expect, holding joy and grief at the same time, and learning to trust God with the pieces of life that feel too heavy to carry alone.Key Takeaways:You can hold joy and grief together—midlife is full of bittersweet moments.Allowing yourself to feel your emotions helps you process change instead of pushing through it.Intentional prayer creates space for perspective, peace, and God's guidance.Surrender isn't passive—it's choosing to trust God with outcomes you can't control.Supporting adult children looks different in every season, and grace is required on both sides.Grandmotherhood brings unexpected gifts and healing for the parts of motherhood you didn't get to experience.Perspective determines whether you see your responsibilities as burdens or as opportunities to love and serve.Community—safe friends who pray with you and for you—makes all the difference in a demanding season.Small daily shifts in obedience, kindness, or encouragement create a legacy bigger than any milestone.God often answers prayers in ways we didn't expect, but His timing is always intentional and good. This is episode 1900, friends! Ten years of conversations about our money, our fears, our growth, and the power that comes when we take control of our financial lives. I can't think of a better guest to mark this milestone than my longtime friend and former colleague, Tracy Byrnes.Tracy and I go way back to our early days in broadcast journalism, when we reported from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and hustled to make our voices heard in a male-dominated industry. These days, Tracy is using her voice and expertise as a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) to help women, especially those in midlife, regain control of their finances and their futures after divorce. In this episode, we talk about:Why so many smart, capable women feel ashamed about not knowing enough about money — and how to change that. The biggest financial mistakes women make during and after divorce, from clinging to the family home to rushing big money decisions. How to rebuild your financial confidence post-divorce — and why sometimes the best move is to pause, breathe, and rent before you buy.And how women can safeguard themselves in marriage — even the happiest ones — by asking the right questions and making sure both partners know where the money is.To reach Tracy, you can connect with her on LinkedIn or email her tbyrnes@lebenthal.com Hosted on Acast. The invisible woman still leaves quite a gap when she disappears. You might not have seen her smoothing your path this morning, ensuring clean clothes, full bellies, and petrol in cars. She paid bills, kept WiFi flowing, Netflix streaming, remembered gym renewals and doctor's appointments—putting herself last on every list. Until she doesn't. When the invisible woman packs her bags and buggers right off, suddenly her space becomes blindingly clear. Meet Monique van Tulder—mum, wife, woman who forgot to live her life. She took a grown-up gap year, went to change lightbulbs, and didn't return for months. Her sons call it "the time mum got mad and took off." She calls it life-changing—saving her marriage by renegotiating it entirely. You can find Monique's book A Grown Up's Gap Year here and her podcast here. Shelly shares the real story behind her family's move from Dallas to Boise—how a quiet nudge became a series of brave, practical steps. This episode is a hand on your shoulder for midlife women who feel the tension between a “good life” and an aligned next chapter. You'll feel seen, supported, and walk away with a simple rhythm to make confident, faith-forward decisions (without blowing up your life overnight).Key Takeaways:You're not alone. Wanting “different” in midlife doesn't make you ungrateful—it makes you honest. The regret test helps: Picture porch-you at 80. What would you regret not trying?Four-word prayer to steady you: Direction • Clarity • Discernment • Courage.Start tiny (coffee date, not wedding): One low-risk step (email the realtor, DM a mentor, write 5 bullets) creates momentum and clarity.Collect breadcrumbs: Log confirmations and roadblocks—patterns will guide timing and reduce second-guessing.Expect wobbly nights: Hard seasons don't mean wrong decisions; look for “God-winks” and practical mercies along the way. There's always a paper to sign: When it's time, take the leap. Let your fear of staying stuck be smaller than your faith to move.Action beats overthinking: God often confirms in motion.Scripture anchor: Proverbs 3:5–6 — Trust before certainty; paths straighten as you walk.
