Often disguised; but masquerade as truths. They live in the unconscious. Not easily touchable. They work away in the hidden place doing their worst. They are uninvited guests. They have over stayed their invitation; live rent free and are doing damage, which adversely impacts quality of living life. They need to be gone after and expelled.Since you cannot change that which you cannot see - because they live in the unconscious - you have to go hunting for them. Get your hunting gear on. We are going hunting.Remember 'C' first, then 'B' follows in CBT. Your (C)ognitive will always lead to your eventual (B)ehaviour. Don't try to first change the 'B'. Begin with the 'C'. Negative Core Beliefs are a part of the 'C'.You need to find them, recognise them, acknowledge them, highlight them, then get ready to turf them out - as you progress through the Change Process. What are these 'Negative Core Beliefs'? They are an individuals most central ideas and Beliefs about themselves (and can also be about others and the world). They act as a lens through which the person takes their vantage point - through which they view self, life and experiences. They can be all encompassing. Very global. Very rigid Beliefs.Negative Core Beliefs are Harmful Core Beliefs. They lead to Negative Thoughts, Feelings and Behaviours. Examples are: 'I am a failure', 'I am weak', 'I am unloveable', 'No one likes me', 'I don't deserve....', 'People can't be trusted'.They are hard to own and accept that they have been bought into; yet, they have been in residency for years, rent free (would you believe it!)Time to see them out; on their way; good riddance; hasta la vista.Understand that over time, keeping them going is arduous, labour intensive (without knowing it) and leads to an increased desire to self-soothe by 'Acting out'. That is why Negative Core Beliefs are a big deal in the Recovery Process.Get some help from The Kairos Centre. See what you cannot see. Self-Work and Overcoming Resistance: Embracing the Change Process   In this episode of The Human Intimacy Podcast, Dr. Kevin Skinner and MaryAnn Michaelis discuss the concept of self-work, emphasizing its importance in personal growth and relationship improvement. They explore the challenges of resistance to change, offering practical strategies for self-reflection and breaking down the change process into manageable steps. The conversation underscores that self-work is an ongoing journey requiring courage, introspection, and accountability. Key Points   1. Definition of Self-Work     - Self-work involves identifying areas for personal improvement and taking intentional steps to address them.      - It can focus on health, mental well-being, relationships, or professional growth. 2. Overcoming Resistance      - Resistance to change is natural due to habitual patterns.      - Recognizing and leaning into resistance is a critical step in the growth process. 3. Practical Exercise for Change      - Start with a five-minute self-reflection exercise to identify areas for improvement.      - Narrow the list to one priority and explore why it's important.      - Develop a "how" plan to implement change with specific, actionable steps. 4. The Power of Unlearning    - Self-work may involve unlearning patterns and beliefs inherited from family or culture.      - Addressing deep-seated habits can influence generational healing. 7. Daily and Lifelong Application      - Self-work can be applied daily to specific areas (e.g., relationships, work, health).      - Long-term, it fosters lasting transformation and improves overall quality of life. 8. The Human Intimacy Conference      - A reminder about the upcoming Human Intimacy Conference on March 14-15, 2025.      - The conference will provide tools and insights for couples and individuals navigating betrayal trauma, infidelity, and post-divorce challenges.

You've probably waited years for your partner to hear you and make the changes you've needed. So why does that change now make you feel pissed off? The answer: mistrust is part of the change process. Learning how to manage this mistrust is imperative for couples when they are changing their negative cycle. In today's episode join our hosts Laurie and George in a fantastic conversation on what happens to us when our partners start to make the changes we've been asking for, for years and why that can cause mistrust. You'll learn what's happening in your brain when there is a red light, yellow light or green light in connection and strategies to promote regulation and connection. Remember, our brains are wired to protect and they want to hold on to the negative information for safety. There are four key phases in a change process as it relates to projects. It is important to note that the phases do not correlate to time, which means you could move fast through these phases, or slowly depending on the pace of your change. Planning: The intention in this phase is clarity. There are some key questions to ask in this phase. In this phase you also identify key stakeholders. Assess and Design: In this phase it's all about the detail. Only through assessing your change in detail can you design the best change plan to engage, and lead impacted teams and individuals through the change. Implement and Reinforce: Consider the change readiness before you go live, making sure all impacted people are ready for the change. After you have gone live with the change, reinforcement is critical to embed the change. Review and Learn: This is where you can amplify the value of your change if you take the opportunity to reflect and capture the lessons learned so your company or organisation can benefit. Have you ever tried to grow stronger by lifting weights? I'm not much of a weight-lifter myself, but I know the drill. Start with a low weight and slowly increase it, making it a bit heavier each time. With each successive uplevel, you build more muscle. Or what about running a marathon? Most of us don't start out running an entire mile. We start with a block. Maybe we even just walk that block. And we slowly build the endurance we need to go longer, to go faster. The same thing happens with us personally. As we try to eat healthier or we try to grow in our cooking skills, the best way to grow is bit by bit. But it does take pushing yourself. Doing something uncomfortable. Maybe even a little scary. And that's what this episode is all about: how God has invited me to push myself a little bit to grow and reach more people. This has been happening in a lot of different ways, but we're going to focus on just one today: changing the name of the podcast. Kari   RELATED EPISODES: ·       Episode 44: Why is Change So Hard? Galen Hair talks with psychologist Dr. Robert Kegan about the process of 'immunity to change' and how limiting beliefs hinder meaningful transformation. Kegan uses the example of unsuccessful dieting to underline the importance of shifting mindsets, not just behaviors. He illustrates common leadership issues in initiating change, like arrogance or insecurity, and how these can lead to employee attrition. He advises that those who persist through uncomfortable personal growth phases will ultimately enjoy substantial personal and professional advancements. Who's the Guest? Dr. Robert Kegan is a professor at Harvard University and a world-renowned contributor to the field of development and transformation. He's a recipient of numerous honorary degrees and awards and has over forty years of research, teaching, writing, and professional practice that influenced leadership development, executive coaching, and culture-change management across the globe.   Highlights The turning point in Dr. Kegan's research was recognizing that change challenges related to individuals' underlying mindset, not just specific skills or behavior. Dr. Kegan identifies a dichotomy that exists: people who are overly kind or overly concerned about how others think of them, and people who are too hard on their teams. Younger generations like millennials, see learning as a lifelong process rather than a phase of life. There is a difference between presenting change to people who are open and prepared for it as opposed to those who aren't. Your destiny is to become a bigger and better version of yourself.  Episode Resources Connect with Galen M. In part 2 of our conversation with Matthew Reinbold, Digital Engagement Lead at Concentrix Catalyst API Practice group, we discuss how governance should drive change towards the desired behaviors, and why governance needs to have "power with" (not "power over") for sustainable change. It is a grave mistake to assume that all of digital transformation is programmatic: it is lines of communication that are now being rewired within the organization that are subsequently creating brand new interaction patterns. We agree on hoping the pendulum is moving back toward an idea that the sum is greater than the parts.

We converse about coherence versus consistence–through salt and pepper–, and what about that alignment?
