Every fortnight Morgan, Hayden, Declan & Mitch - Canberra's foremost film experts - watch, recap and review a film from Wikipedia's 'List of films with a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes'
This is a controversial one because this episode's subject FREELANCE (2023) is not currently on our bible: the official 0% list. It was, briefly, but a couple late reviews came in which pumped it to 7%. We cover those in the episode. This potato stars wrestler John Cena and Alison Brie (best known as Annie on Community) and was directed by frenchman Pierre Morel, best known as the director of the Liam Neeson movie Taken. Only a few movies left on the official bible of 0%ers!!! As always, we're on facebook and Instagram and YouTube and you can email us at trulyrottentomatoes@gmail.com
This episode we discuss the death of Matthew Perry from Friends, read a bit of Calvin and Hobbs and most importantly... Terry Crews, former footballer and current actor, stars as the titular character in 2020's John Henry. John Henry is a strong man who lives in South Central Los Angeles and no longer is in gangs with his cousin Hell, played by Ludcaris. The story is a reimagining of the John Henry folktale, a part of American folklore since the 1800s. Only a few movies left on the official bible of 0%ers!!! As always, we're on facebook and Instagram and YouTube and you can email us at trulyrottentomatoes@gmail.com

In this episode, we covered 2017's Stratton, starring Dominic Cooper, Gemma Chan and Tom Felton (AKA Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter movies) Directed by Englishman Simon West (Tomb Raider [2001] and Con Air) Logline: A British Special Boat Service commando tracks down an international terrorist cell. Unfortunately, although it features a group called SBS and a character called Stratton, it is NOT about David Stratton. The boys (sans Hayden) are BACK! Interested in the relationship of Amber Heard, Johnny Depp and a bit of Cara Delevigne as a messy drug addict? Based on the hit book, London Fields (2018) is the movie for you. It's one of those ones where the director and producers all sued each other and the director hates the cut they went with. It took 3 years before it was released and still got a 0%. And now we've watched it, and we (spoilers) loved it. Amber Heard plays a character basically called Nikki Sixx! As always, we're on facebook and Instagram and YouTube and you can email us at trulyrottentomatoes@gmail.com
Bruce Willis stars (for 13 minutes) in Precious Cargo, an action thriller directed by Max Adams and also starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar. As IMDB says, the plot is simply: A crime boss tries to make off with loot that belongs to another thief. Mitch, Hayden and Declan analyse the film with special guest: Australian Bruce Willis. As always, we're on facebook and Instagram and YouTube and you can email us at trulyrottentomatoes@gmail.com

In this superhero origin story and adaptation of Mattel's 15 year running cartoon, the world was treated to a live action Max Steel. With Hayden on suspension, Morgan, Mitch and Declan tackle everything about Andy Garcia's villainous Pacino-esque performance, and Ben Winchell's leading everyboy role. Directed by Stewart Hendler, this potato feels a bit like Transformers but struggles to properly target its tone and audience. As always, we're on facebook and Instagram and YouTube and you can email us at trulyrottentomatoes@gmail.com
Back on the scriptures, the four boys are reunited to talk through the DJ Caruso movie The Disappointments Room. Starring Kate Beckinsale and Mel Raido, this supernatural thriller/horror tomato treads the ground of paranoid and traumatised women not taking her meds and thinking she's seeing creepy ghosts. And she is! Weirdly, this movie is also co-written by actor Wentworth Miller, best known for being one of the leads in Prison Break. As always, we're on facebook and Instagram and YouTube and you can email us at trulyrottentomatoes@gmail.com
The boys take some time to deviate from their Bible of 0% films and take a look at 2021's late release: The Matrix Resurrections, directed by Lana Wachoswki co-writer and co-director from the original trilogy, and starring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss. Resurrections is the fourth feature film in the Matrix franchise and serves as an amalgamation of reboot, remake and sequel. It got a 63% on Rotten Tomatoes. Morgan was absent this episode due to suspension. As always, we're on facebook and Instagram and YouTube and you can email us at trulyrottentomatoes@gmail.com
Absent band leader Morgan Quinn, the boys try to pick up the pieces of their lives to continue through the remainder of the 0% bible through 2022. They do some Seinfeld trivia, try to guess Rolling Stone's best action movie and talk through what lies ahead in Australia's toughest podcast.
Months ago we recorded this "bonus" episode of absolute trash for a Patreon we don't have. We held onto it until a time when we didn't have any new episodes ready. Now it is time to release it. Send all complaints to trulyrottentomatoes@gmail.com
Comedian and TV personality Concetta Caristo joins the gang talk about the 2016 remake of Eli Roth's independent horror hit Cabin Fever. Released 14 years after the 2002 original, it found itself on the 0% list. At its core, its a gory violent horror film about 5 friends going to a cabin in the woods and succumbing to a flesh-eating virus. They virtually used Roth's original script and our recommendation is go watch the original, which is offensive and outdated, but still better. As always, we're on facebook and Instagram and YouTube and you can email us at trulyrottentomatoes@gmail.com And listen to Concetta's podcast Big Natural Talents.
Joining the gang on this episode, from a Brisbane balcony surrounded by birds during hotel quarantine, is Reuben Styles from platinum selling Peking Duk and his latest outfit Y.O.G.A (You're Only Great Always). In this episode, we covered 2009's Stolen, starring Mad Men's Jon Hamm with a goofy haircut, Josh Lucas and Dawson's Creek's James Van Der Beek with appearances from Rhona Mitra, Jessica Chastain and Morena Baccarin. It is not to be confused with the 2012 Stolen also starring Josh Lucas and Nic Cage. Logline: A detective deals with the loss of his own son while trying to uncover the identity of a boy whose mummified remains are found in a box buried for fifty years. As always, we're on facebook and Instagram and YouTube and you can email us at trulyrottentomatoes@gmail.com
In completion of her redemption arc, Putri McMurray joins us to talk through the latest 0% from our trusty bible: A Thousand Words (2012) starring Eddie Murphy, written by Steve Koren ('Click' and 'Jack & Jill')and directed by Brian Robbins (who also made Eddie Murphy movies Norbit and Meet Dave). This movie takes Eddie Murphy's skill in saying funny things and asks the question, what if every word he said brought him closer to death? It was also filmed in 2008, around the time of The Love Guru and also involves a holistic healer character, but not played by Mike Myers. We recorded this shortly after the 20th anniversary of 9/11, so that was weighing heavily on our minds. As always, we're on facebook and Instagram and YouTube and you can email us at trulyrottentomatoes@gmail.com
In a special double-movie episode, the OG crew reunite to talk through 2010's 0% CGI, rat-Nazi extravaganza 'The Nutcracker: The Untold Story (in 3D)' as well as the new Space Jam movie starring LeBron James. What do you need to know? The Nutcracker movie stars a young Elle Fanning and also Nathan Lane as Albert Einstein, and it's based on a Russian ballet. It's kind of like Alice in Wonderland and the Narnia Chronicles, like The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. And Space Jam 2 is the Looney Tunes and LeBron, with cameos from every Warner Bros property they own. We also do an update on how far through the list we are. One of these movies gets ONE recommend from our four movie-buff genius hosts. You'll never guess which one! As always, we're on facebook and Instagram and YouTube and you can email us at trulyrottentomatoes@gmail.com
In this special bonus lockdown episode, Declan and Hayden catch up without the knowledge or permission of the rest of the gang.
On this episode of Australia's toughest podcast, the gang tackle 2009's Transylmania (AKA College Vampires) a college-based teen sex comedy, with a buttload of vampire stuff. Directed by David and Scott Hillebrand and starring a lot of 30 year olds playing college kids, this movie features an animated opening credits sequence and a song by The Darkness. Morgan was away on special COVID duties, so we brought in comedian, television personality and podcaster Bec Charlwood - host of the Ladies Guide to Dude Cinema podcast. It turns out, contrary to what you've all heard, Bec is really nice and cool, so follow her on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter. 2007 brought the subprime mortgage crisis and the subsequent financial crash and global financial crisis. In a directly connected way, it also brought this Fast and the Furious knock-off: Redline. ARIA award winning rapper Seth Sentry joins us to talk everything Redline - the cars, the excess, Daniel Sadek the producer and who is credited as writing the story - and happened to be a subprime mortgage lending multi-millionaire who owned a lot of the cars in this film. There's acting from the producers soap opera actress girlfriend Nadia Bjorlin, Aussie actor Nathan Phillips (Wolf Creek, Snakes on a Plane), and American comedian Eddie Griffin - who Seth Rogen recently noted in his book 'Yearbook' is an anti-Semite. It also features Robert The Bruce himself, Angus McFadden. Seth Sentry just dropped a new album - Super Cool Tree House and announced a new tour. In 2008, there was a US remake of a popular Takashi Miike Japanese horror film about people getting a phone call from themselves 3 days in the future that foreshadows their own sudden death. This is that film: One Missed Call (2008) It's kinda like Final Destination meets The Ring. A young Ariel Winter (pre-Modern Family) has a role. As well as Margaret Cho, Ed Burns and Megan Good. As always, we're on facebook and Instagram and YouTube and you can email us at trulyrottentomatoes@gmail.com
The gang was reunited to nearly watch the wrong movie and then eventually watch the right movie: Scar 3D (2007) This is a low-budget grungy horror film, in a similar vein to Saw. The only actors we recognised were Christopher Titus and Angela Bettis (from the 2002 Carrie TV movie) and Devon Graye (who played Teenage Dexter in Dexter) It was in old-school red and blue 3D. An early review said someone in a test screening vomited and another person was unconscious with paramedics being called. It boasts that it was edited in HD (720) and its wiki page says it's the "first feature length narrative 3D movie to be completed in a completely digital workflow." The production workflow was designed by NHK and DitlevFilms. Using a 3D camera rig engineered by NTS in Japan (built around two digital high definition Sony cameras). Mike Myers writes and stars in the 2008 movie that derailed his career as a force of character comedy. Hot off the heels of Austin Powers - but without his director Jay Roach who wanted to move more into political films - this would become the only director credit for Marco Schnabel who now works on NCIS. Also starring Jessica Alba, Justin Timberlake and Verne Troyer. P.S Mitch has been fired. In this episode, Canberra's smartest film reviewers tackle 2004's Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 directed by Bob Clark and the sequel to 1999's Baby Genuises. Here's the plot: A group of smart-talking toddlers find themselves at the center of a media mogul's experiment to crack the code to baby talk. The toddlers must race against time for the sake of babies everywhere. This movie has Jon Voight and Scott Baio, so it's probably now the most popular film among US right wingers.
