In the second part of our Liam Neeson spectacular, the guys shift their attention to Taken 3 (or Tak3n if you were a part of the stupid marketing team). It's a movie that asks the question... what if we just didn't take anyone? You can blame Liam Neeson for that and his weird-ass contract. But in regards to the movie, they also wonder what is up with Forest Whitaker's hands business? How stupid is Bryan Mills in his everyday life? Should you ever tamper with bagel evidence? Plus: a deep dive into a very specific emphasis-based type of criminal. Next week: It's a real doozy of a small-screen shameful. This one will dance all over your brain! In a first-ever for the boys in Thinking Town, Canada... this is the first of a Taken twofer. That's right - starting off this week with Taken 2, a film that asks the question: do you want to see it again but not as good? This film has everything from Bryan's daugher Kim using grenades like sonar devices, Bryan's sewing circle of friends who dish way too much, some of the worst fight choreography you'll see in an action film and much more. Having frittered away this weeks budget on extravagances like cheese and pickled chillies, the Dads were forced to choose a movie available to them at no extra costs. Step forward TRANSPORTER 3 starring the very excellent Jason Statham. A strange choice by Sidey, as he hadn't seen either Le Transporteur 1 or 2!Mr Statham plays Frank Martin, a man whose name confused your hosts a lot more than it should have. Frank is the Transporter in question. A courier of dubious goods, who has a code, but will abandon that code a the drop of a hat. Dan and Pete really enjoyed this one. Sidey was less of a fan but still found a few moments to enjoy. So make up your own mind I guess.

This week we're talking about Olivier Megaton's 'Colombiana'. The film is a loose spiritual sequel to 'Leon: The Professional' but is NOTHING like that film. Find out in this episode if that works in this movie's favor.
Olivier Megaton directed this 2020 Netflix film based on the 2009 graphic novel of the same name by Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini that stands out with an incredible 0% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 2.5 hour runtime. Édgar Ramírez, Anna Brewster, Michael Pitt, and Sharlto Copley star in a film about an American dystopia in which a nationwide signal will inhibit all citizens from committing illegal acts. We discuss government control in post-9/11 America and the increased militarization of police, and we also poke several holes in the film's worldbuilding. This week the I Know That Face crew are rejoined by writer, comedian and friend of the podcast Sean Moriarty to talk about the crazy career of South African madman Sharlto Copley. Exploding onto the scene in Neill Blomkamp's 2009 sci-fi apartheid allegory District 9, Copley hasn't slowed down since. Along with his three collaborations with Blomkamp - Elysium and Chappie followed - Copley cemented his Howling Mad reputation in Joe Carnahan's A-Team remake. He varied his choices as the last decade went on in the likes of Spike Lee's Oldboy remake, the POV action film Hardcore Henry, mystery horror Open Grave and as Ron Hollar in John Krasinski's Sundance flop The Hollars. Copley returned to what he does best in Ben Wheatley's Free Fire and was recently seen in Olivier Megaton's The Last Days of American Crime. This week The Movie Breakdown is coming at you with four reviews of very different movies. Speaking of different, we look at a Martin Scorsese movie that some may say goes against his reputation with the film adaptation of the Edith Wharton novel about upper class life in 1870s New York, The Age of Innocence. I also argue in the review that it actually is very much a Scorsese movie while also showing his wide range of talents and skill by tackling different subject material as well. Another director with a reputation is Olivier Megaton and we review his latest action picture, The Last Days of American Crime. We also have a slice of life 1950s period piece sci-if thriller -- yes, you read that right and no, I can't think of another movie from this specific newly created genre but here is The Vast of the Night. I need to mention that this is the first movie where a character has my son's name, Everett. If you want drastically different, then we end the movie reviews with one of the movies that launched the Asylum B-movie empire, Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus. After all that, we look at some of the Academy's recent announcements for moves and initiatives they are going to launch that will create more diversity and inclusiveness in the Academy Awards and hopefully, the movie industry. As always, we had a great time recording the show and we really hope you love it as well. If you do, then please help us out by spreading the word on social media. We also want to thank David Wierzbicki for the amazing illustration this week, which is a depiction of the Academy trying peel away their image and reputation for something brighter and more inclusive. If you want to see more great artwork then please check out his Facebook and Instagram pages.Reminder that you can subscribe either to The Movie Breakdown feed (a subscription link is at the top right hand of this site), or subscribe on sites like Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, CastBox and iTunes. The Movies' Rating Out of Four StarsThe Last Days of American Crime ½* (CS) & 0 stars (SM)The Vast of the Night ***½ (CS & SM)The Age of Innocence ***½ (CS & SM)Mega Shark versus Giant Octopus * (CS) & **½ (SM)

Here’s the thing about “The Last Days of American Crime” — you don’t have time for this shit. None of us do. And that’s not just because Olivier Megaton’s agonizingly dull Netflix feature is 149 minutes long (a crime unto itself). While there’s never really a good moment to introduce a bad movie into the world, this hollow and artless dystopian heist dreck is also a victim of its own relevance. We’re all for escapism where you can get it — this critic has streamed an ungodly amount of post-curfew “Terrace House” — but watching such a deeply stupid fantasy about the future of American fascism almost feels like a dereliction of duty when the country is on the verge of becoming a police state in real life. ‘The Last Days of American Crime’ Review: Olivier Megaton’s Netflix Heist Movie Is So Bad It Should Be Illegal https://www.indiewire.com/2020/06/the-last-days-of-american-crime-review-netflix-1202235575/ Support KOP by: Sending a PayPal donation by going to https://www.paypal.me/kingofpodcasts Visiting KOP’s special Amazon page at http://www.kingofamazon.com Contact KOP for professional podcast production, imaging, and web design services at http://www.kingofpodcasts.com Follow KOP on Twitter or Facebook @kingofpodcasts Subscribe to KOP’s other programs: Wrestling is Real Podcast http://www.wrestlingisreal.com and the Broadcasters Podcast http://www.broadcasterspodcast.com --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/king-of-podcasts/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/king-of-podcasts/support

In 2008 Jason Statham came back for one last ride in Transporter 3. This time Frank has to drive the daughter of a Ukranian politician to Odessa, avoiding danger and romantic entanglements along the way. The film ended Statham's run as the Transporter, but launched the American career of aptly-named director Olivier Megaton. Did the trilogy end on a high note? Listen to find out!
"It ends here" er taglinen til Taken 3 men det er 100% misvisende al den stund at denne sequel tager et ordentligt hop væk fra den oprindelige historie om de albanske gangstere der kidnapper unge piger. Taken 3 handler i stedet om Liam Neeson der bliver framet for et mord, han ikke har begået, nægter at samarbejde med politiet, jagter gangstere på egen hånd og udsætter uskyldige amerikanske statsborgere for det som nogle vil betegne som terrorangreb. But who cares!?
