Easter isn't just a celebration of a moment in history—it's an invitation to life change. This Easter message at 12Stone walks through the powerful truth that no matter how lost, broken, or stuck we feel, we are not a lost cause. Through the story of Jesus on the cross—flanked by two criminals—we're reminded that grace is never out of reach. One rejected Jesus, the other surrendered. Which one are you? You'll also hear a moving real-life story of Michael, whose journey through addiction and prison felt hopeless… until Jesus. Now, he knows the truth: he has a seat at God's table—and so do you.
In our third week of the Unshakeable series, we dive into the story of Jericho—one of the most well-defended cities in the Promised Land. On the surface, Jericho seemed unshakable, while the Israelites appeared shaky at best. But God had a plan that defied human logic, proving that true strength doesn't come from walls, wealth, or worldly security, but from faith in Him. This message explores how the first battle is always for our worship—what we give our first and best to reveals what we truly trust in. Through obedience and faith, the Israelites watched God bring down Jericho's walls, showing us that when we trust in Him, He provides the victory. Join us as we unpack what this means for our lives today. Are we building on temporary security, or are we trusting in the unshakable foundation of God?
In our second week of the Unshakeable series, we're stepping into the story of Joshua and the Israelites as they faced a defining moment—crossing the Jordan River into the Promised Land. Just like them, we all have “Jordan River moments” in life where we must choose between fear and faith, comfort and calling, security and surrender. God invites us to trust Him deeply, step out boldly, and sacrifice what is temporary to take hold of what is eternal. An Unshakeable life isn't built on what's easy—it's built on faith, obedience, and a willingness to follow where God leads, even when it feels risky. So what is God asking you to step into? What is He calling you to sacrifice? Follow along with the Unshakeable Guide and take this journey with us: Unshakeable.12stone.com At 12Stone Church, learn how to Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose and Make a Difference. We all face moments of uncertainty, where fear tries to hold us back from stepping into what God has prepared for us. In Joshua 1, God calls Joshua to lead His people into the Promised Land, reminding him to be strong and courageous—not because of his own strength, but because of God's unchanging faithfulness. The same is true for us today. When we trust in God's vision and move forward in faith, we can overcome fear and walk confidently into His purpose for our lives. At 12Stone, we're here to help you grow in faith and take your next step. Visit our website at 12Stone.com to learn more or connect with us https://12stone.com/connect/
Most of us unknowingly believe religious lies about how we relate to God as followers of Jesus. These false beliefs distort our understanding of God, ourselves, and the church—leading to burdensome religion, fear-based faith, and an incomplete experience of God's love. In this video, we'll confront these harmful lies and replace them with the truth of God's Word. Because when we hold onto deception, we miss out on the fullness of life with God. Worship isn't just about singing songs—it's a way of life! In this message, we unpack God's design for worship and how it extends far beyond Sunday mornings. Worship is about recognizing who God is, letting that stir your love for Him, and living in a way that pleases Him. Discover how worship can transform your everyday life—from classrooms to boardrooms to family dinners—and how a heart surrendered to God changes everything.
This week, we kicked off 2025 by exploring God's design for truth and how it shapes a full, meaningful life. We learned that the Bible isn't just a book—it's the foundation for how we make decisions, set priorities, and align our lives with God's best. Through practical examples, we saw how God's Word is like a recipe: when followed, it delivers the life we long for. But ignoring it can lead to regret, emptiness, and brokenness. As we head into this new year, let's commit to building our lives on God's truth. Whether through the S.O.A.P. method or diving into a weekly devotional, the rhythms we set now will shape the rest of 2025. Let's start strong by letting God's Word light our path! The Christmas season often stirs a desire to find satisfaction and joy for ourselves and our loved ones, leading us to seek fulfillment in temporary, worldly things. As Christians, we may still face moments of doubt and lose sight of where true joy is found—only in the hope and confidence of Christ. Every decision we make is like placing a “bet,” and to place our bets wisely, we must examine our daily choices to see if they draw us closer to God or deeper into materialism. When we feel the urge to fill a void with quick fixes, we should pause, bring our desires and doubts to the Lord, and trust in His goodness to guide us toward lasting joy. In the Kingdom of God, Jesus is our unwavering anchor, offering hope and unity amidst life's storms. Our hope is firmly rooted in our identity in Christ, while the unity of the Church is strengthened under His name. Each of us is invited to the table of the Lord, encouraged to align with the mind and spirit of Christ. This means examining areas where worldly influences may have distorted our identity in Him, surrendering these at the cross, and embracing the truth of who we are in Christ. If forgiveness or unity feels challenging, reach out for prayer or support. This week, look for one way to display Christ's unbroken unity within your community. The inspirational rise and fall (and rise again) story of how Whitestone Motion Pictures came from the brink of throwing in the towel, to shooting a project for The History Channel. If you've been listening to this podcast since the beginning, you know that there is only one person who's been featured on the show more times than show regulars JD and Yolanda. That person is Atlanta filmmaker Brandon McCormick of Whitestone Motion Pictures. After posting last week's bonus episode about Brandon's incredible database of feature film screenshots, it occurred to me that out of all the episodes in which he's appeared, I've never really given any kind of in-depth story about the history of Whitestone and his journey as a filmmaker. So today, that's what I have. This week's episode is a tad longer than normal, but I promise you'll savor every inspirational minute. We cover such topics as:How and why they do the kind of work they doHis affection for nostalgic and period piecesHis thoughts on artists vs. artisans and the significance of the differenceThe trials and tribulations of almost making their first feature film and the lessons he learnedHow the History Channel project came aboutAnd of course, it wouldn't be a Brandon McCormick episode without some profoundly poignant ending that makes you wanna go out and conquer the world!Music in this EpisodeIn order of appearance, the music in this episode:Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairyby Kevin MacLeod (CC BY)The rest of the songs are from the soundtrack of "That's Magic," music and lyrics by Nicholas Kirk, courtesy of Whitestone Motion Pictures. This week's episode features Dr. Chris Bounds from Indiana Wesleyan University. I met Dr. Bounds through the biblical studies program that my church 12Stone offers, which partners with Indiana Wesleyan, where he taught the theology course. I learned more from that class than I had my entire christian life prior. He is very knowledgeable, and has some great stories and insights! We recorded this over Skype, and there's a couple of spots where his voice sounds a little bit robotic, but it was just a bad connection and the message is well worth that little bit of distraction. In this episode we talk a little bit about the class where I met Dr. Bounds, we talk about being the bride of Christ, the Holy Spirit, gifts of the Spirit, sanctification, misapplied or misunderstood theological concepts, and more!
