Today's topic the hip drop tackle.  To be honest, I had no clue what it was until I saw it on YouTube.  A hip-drop tackle is when a defender wraps up an offensive player on the side or from behind, becoming dead-weight while often landing on the player's legs. The technique has become popular as players get faster and stronger, giving smaller defenders a chance in a league.  I do understand the rationale behind the competition committee banning this move.  By banning this tackle the belief is there will be a reduction in injuries.  League executives began saying last year, inflicted injury at 25 times the rate of the average tackle. And this wasn't just any injury, the league's health and safety committee said. Gregg Abbott about federalizing the National Guard.  Where most states say that I will follow the orders of the President of the United States, Texas doesn't, however, each state National Guard has a state budget for state missions and Federal budget that covers training, pay and maintaining equipment. The assumptions, stereotypes, and unintentional actions (positive or negative) we make towards others based on identity labels like race, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, or ability. Because our implicit associations are stored in our subconscious, we may act on our biases without even realizing it. Often, our implicit biases contradict our values. I want to thank Dr. Rashad Richey for putting me on game. I recently viewed an episode of indisputable where Ryan Coogler was detained for an assumed bank robbery attempt. Of course, in my implicit biased I assumed that the caller was a white lady. When in fact it was a black woman. Honestly, either Ryan is the dumbest bank robber ever, who gives their bank card and personal information during a bank robbery or the teller is so detailed just the oddness made her short hairs stand up. Now Dr Richey said it was implicit bias on the Bank teller who happen to be black, I would say no that chick was just dumb. But I am also going to point out something Dr. Richey may have missed later in this podcast. As the Teller is breaking down what she perceived was going on to the 911 dispatcher. Who at the end of the conversation said he may just want the transaction to be discreet, but per protocol called the police? Here's where my spin on the whole situation takes a dramatic turn. Whereas I do feel the outcome may have been different if it was a white customer. I don't feel this implicit bias was based on the power structure implied by white supremacy. Anyway, have you ever gone to the pet store and saw a puppy and said aww, he is so cute. You go up to the owner and ask was the puppy available. The Owner says yes, you buy the dog and take it home. A few days go by and dammit this dog is still eating it's own poop. As intolerable as it may be, you keep the now stupid dog because your kid has built and attachment. But as the dog grows he increasingly does ridiculous things such as stopping in the middle of the road and taking a dump. The day comes when you are sitting down at your home watching tv. You see good ole max walk up and turns around as if he wants attention but because you don't pet him he just leaves, not really staying long. But then you start smelling a fowl odder, you look down, an in reality this dog just came up and took a dump right where you were sitting as if to say F U. My question to you is this, how many times are you going to let that bed relationship crap on you before you just git rid of it. A lot of us stay in bad relationships for the sake of not wanting to quit. Some stay in these relationships because you are in love and believe things will get better. Following the Civil War and emancipation of enslaved African Americans, Congress passed three Constitutional Amendments in the 1860s, known as the Reconstruction Amendments, that abolished slavery and involuntary servitude (13th), provided citizenship to those born or naturalized in the U.S. regardless of race (14th), and guaranteed the right of all citizens to vote (15th). The following decade, known as the Reconstruction era (1863 - 1877), was the attempt by the U.S. Government to address the inequities and the protect the rights of newly enfranchised African Americans. However, the 1880s marked the resurgence of white supremacy in the south and the rollback of these advancements; Jim Crow laws, voter suppression, and quasi-renslavement through convict leasing eliminated the gains made by freed people. One of the most infamous Supreme Court rulings that codified state-sanctioned segregation and provided the foundation for institutionalized inequality was Plessy v. Ferguson (1896). The majority opinion effectively declared “separate but equal” public facilities, such as schools and public transportation, as constitutional and not in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. While these Black-only schools may have been denoted as “equal”, in reality they did not receive nearly the same amount of funds as white-only schools and lacked adequate resources and facilities for Black children. Teachers at Black schools were paid substantially less and resources at Black schools were often discarded by nearby white schools. In South Carolina, the government spent 3x as much on white schools than Black schools and 100x more on the transportation of white children than Black children to schools. the Stanford Open Policing Project examined almost 100 million traffic stops conducted from 2011 to 2017 across 21 state patrol agencies, including California, Illinois, New York and Texas, and 29 municipal police departments, including New Orleans, Philadelphia, San Francisco and St. Paul, Minnesota. A known incident in 1988 featured Chinese students rioting against African students studying in Nanjing. In 2007, police anti-drug crackdowns in Beijing's Sanlitun district were reported to target people from Africa as suspected criminals, though police officials denied targeting any specific racial or ethnic group. According to Foreign Policy, African students have reportedly been subjected to more frequent drug testing than students from other regions. These dates are of August 13th 2021. As of Saturday, The Texas Department of State Health Services is reporting 21986 new confirmed cases of Covid-19. This includes 1009 new probably cases in Bexar County. DHS noted the Bexar County numbers had not been updated since August 7th. The department also reported 117 new fatalities. In Bexar County there are 1299 people hospitalized, and a rolling seven-day average of 1391 new cases. New coronavirus cases, hospitalizations and deaths are rising in San Antonio as the delta variant surges in the community. The city reported a 7-day average of 1,391 on Friday, an increase of 69 cases in 1 day. There have been 259,636 cases in the community in total. Officials said this week that 88% of new cases are a result of the delta variant. About 13% of cases are pediatric. The positivity rate in the area has reached 21.4%.
