La Belgique veut se réarmer, mais comment et surtout avec quel argent alors que les caisses de l'Etat crient famine ? Quelles sont les options sur la table du gouvernement et qui va payer la facture ? L'Europe se réarme et la Belgique suit évidemment le mouvement. Objectif du gouvernement belge atteindre 2% du PIB pour la défense dès cet été. C'est un sacré bond quand on sait qu'en 2024, on en était encore à 1,31% du PIB. Alors concrètement, ça veut dire trouver 3,8 milliards cette année et 17 milliards sur la législature. Mais avec un déficit déjà en roue libre. La vraie question, c'est qui va payer la facture ? Alors jusqu'ici, la Belgique comptait sur l'OTAN et surtout sur la protection américaine pour assurer sa sécurité. Mais c'est fini la tranquillité, entre les menaces russes et l'incertitude sur la politique américaine, l'Europe n'a plus le choix, elle doit se défendre seule. Résultat, la Commission européenne sort le chéquier, comme d'ailleurs le reste du continent. Mais au-delà du montant, la véritable question c'est comment on va dépenser cet argent ? Acheter des chars et des avions de chasse, est-ce vraiment ce dont un petit pays comme la Belgique a besoin ? Ou serait il plus malin de miser sur la cybersécurité, sur le renseignement ou sur les infrastructures critiques ? Comment donc financer cet effort militaire alors ?
