(Espn) Queste sono soltanto due delle previsioni che la stampa specializzata aveva prodotto alla vigilia della stagione Nba 2012-13. Riguardavano entrambe la stessa squadra, i Los Angeles Lakers. Chi ricorda bene quell'annata sa già di cosa sto per parlare, chi invece ha la memoria corta, non seguiva l'Nba o aveva semplicemente meglio da fare, può allacciarsi le cinture, perché quello che sto per raccontarvi è uno dei fallimenti più fragorosi della storia della lega. Questo è il disastro dei Los Angeles Lakers 2012-2013. LE PREMESSE Campioni Nba nel 2010 agli ordini di Phil Jackson e semifinalisti di conference un anno più tardi sempre guidati da coach Zen, i Lakers avevano iniziato la loro trasformazione nella stagione 2011-12, con Mike Brown in panchina, il tutto dopo aver visto sfumare per volontà di David Stern la trade che avrebbe portato a Los Angeles, sponda gialloviola, Chris Paul. La semifinale di conference persa contro gli Oklahoma City Thunder, futuri finalisti, era parsa una buona base da cui ripartire, pur con alcuni tasselli da sistemare. Il secondo, invece, riguardava il centro titolare. Andrew Bynum era reduce dalla sua migliore stagione in carriera per punti e rimbalzi, ma a preoccupare i Lakers c'erano due motivi che poco avevano a che fare con il suo talento: la prospettiva di perderlo in caso di mancato rinnovo del contratto e alcune grosse preoccupazioni sulle condizioni delle sue ginocchia. L'11 luglio, i Los Angeles Lakers annunciano di aver chiuso una trade con i Phoenix Suns: Steve Nash arriva in gialloviola in cambio di due prime scelte e due seconde scelte. The guys welcome Jeff Morton from Denver Stiffs.com back on the show to help put a bow on the 2011-12 season. Morton also offers up his take on what the Nuggets will do in the off-season and answers Nate's specific questions on Arron Afflalo, Danilo Gallinari, Kenneth Faried, how much he'd pay JaVale McGee if he were Masai Ujiri, and if Ty Lawson is the future point guard of the the team.  Ross and Nate also discuss Chris Andersen and the things that have had him in the headlines recently.  Plus talk about new media and where the journalism world is going ... 

The guys sneak in a podcast towards the end of the week; things will be back to the normal Tuesday nights next week (Jan. 10th).  Steelers vs. Broncos talk dominates the beginning of the show and later in the show the guys put their money where their mouth is or uh, well, they make actual predictions on the score of the big game coming this Sunday (Jan. 8th). With the rash of Steelers injured, the guys think the Broncos have a chance to advance - homers? They are the Colorado Sports Guys for a reason. In second segment, the guys talk Nuggets. Ross is disappointed in Nene's performance to start, Nate points out Arron Afflalo's slow start, but they both agree the team is in a good place. Ross asks for Nate's surprise players and about the season schedule itself.  To wrap things up, the guys read a couple reader emails. One from Rich in Rifle, Colorado and the other from Mark in Parker. One deals with other team's fans and the other about the three sports films that won Best Picture. For the anniversary of the 20th show, the guys welcome on Broncos legend and Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist Karl Mecklenburg. The former 12 year NFL veteran played from 1983-1994 and amassed 79 career sacks for the Broncos. Ross and Nate get Mecklenburg's thoughts on the Hall of Fame honors, some stories from his playing days, what it would be like if players were still "policing" the game, his thoughts on the current Broncos team, and what he's up to now - his motivational speaking and thoughts on perhaps coaching in the NFL.  The guys also talk Nuggets as Arron Afflalo was recently re-signed, plus the start of the NBA season is just five days away - six days for Nuggets Nation. Nate and Ross answer a few questions from Denver Stiffs readers about the team and express their expectations for the upcoming season.  The Broncos vs. Patriots game is discussed: how Tim Tebow played, the costly fumbles, the chances of still winning the AFC West, and the risks the team should be taking in the last two games.  In honor of Mecklenburg, the guys discuss the Top 5 NFL Linebackers where Ross gravitates towards some local names and Nate sticks with some classics and one John Elway tormentor.   We still have plenty of Rockies, Colorado Buffs, and Colorado State Rams eye black patches from Eyeblack.com to give away. Can you believe the Broncos found a new way to make a comeback? Well, the guys can. This Broncos team is a resilient one and both callers this week are wanting to talk Broncos ... one all the way from New York!  Demaryius Thomas couldn't have found a better time to set career marks. The Minnesota Vikings were caught off guard at Tim Tebow's throwing abilities as the Broncos won and find themselves in a first place tie in the AFC West. The Miami Dolphins have done the Broncos two favors this season; once by losing to Tebow and Company and the other by defeating the Raiders last Sunday. Even without defensive sack master Von Miller, the Broncos found a way on defense to make a few key turnovers.  UFC 140 is approaching as Jon "Bones" Jones looks to defend his light heavyweight title for the second time, this time against Lyoto Machida. Nate thinks it's over for one-trick ponies in MMA as Jason "Mayhem" Miller was destroyed by Michael Bisping and these new era fighters will be dominating from here on out.  The Nuggets might have hope to re-sign both Arron Afflalo and Nene and will open the season in Dallas on December 26th to face the defending champion Mavericks. The Nuggets play one goofy back-to-back-to-back set to open February and the season will end in late-April, instead of mid-April as usual.  All that, plus the Top 5 Most Overrated Athletes. Enjoy!
