The Post-Baccalaureate program is for those with non-education degrees, allowing them to earn a teaching certification online while working. The MAT Pedagogy degree is aimed at certified teachers with unrelated degrees, providing additional credentials and potential salary increases. Both programs are online and address regional and statewide needs for qualified educators. Tami Smith, director of teacher education, highlights the importance of these programs in helping individuals pursue teaching careers and enhance their professional development. STORY 2: Sequoyah's Tousignaut Headed to KSU    Sequoyah basketball star Brendan Tousignaut committed to Kennesaw State on July 22, following in the footsteps of former Etowah guard Chase Clemmons, who joined the Owls last year. Tousignaut, a 6-foot-6 rising senior, averaged 19 points, nine rebounds, and two steals per game, leading Sequoyah to the Class 6-A playoffs and earning a spot on the All-Cherokee County first team. His commitment comes as Kennesaw State's basketball program, which recently made the NCAA Tournament, aims to build on its success. Tousignaut's addition is expected to bolster the Owls' roster as they strive to improve from a recent 15-16 season. STORY 3: Cherokee Sheriff's Office: Fire Truck Hit in Multi-Vehicle Crash On Thursday morning, a Cherokee County fire truck responding to a crash on Interstate 575 in Canton was struck by two cars, resulting in minor injuries to two individuals. The incident occurred around 8:07 a.m., and all northbound lanes were closed for about an hour starting at 8:15 a.m. due to the accident. Rainy weather is suspected to have contributed to the multi-car crash. This initiative aims to support employees pursuing degrees related to behavioral health, such as psychology, social work, and business management. The program includes options for in-seat or online courses at GMC's campuses and Global Online Leadership College. Highland Rivers, a major public behavioral health provider in northwest Georgia, hopes this partnership will enhance career advancement and educational opportunities for its over 900 staff members. The Highland Rivers Foundation also offers scholarships to further support employees and individuals in recovery. STORY 5: Circle of Friends Opening Café in Hickory Flat. What We Know   Flourish Café, a new initiative by Circle of Friends, has begun its soft opening in Hickory Flat, with a grand opening scheduled for August 16-17. This is Circle of Friends' second coffee shop designed to employ adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The café, located at 2864 E. Cherokee Drive, Suite F near Canton, will offer coffee, treats, and host community events. The grand opening includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 16 at 10 a.m. Circle of Friends, a nonprofit established in 2019, also operates a coffee shop at Chattahoochee Technical College's Woodstock campus. Commercial: INGLES 4 STORY 6: Local Attorney Tapped for Cherokee County Juvenile Court Judge Post    Amanda G. Speights has been appointed to serve as a judge for the Juvenile Court of Cherokee County, beginning January 1, 2025. The appointment, made by the Cherokee County Superior Court judges, fills the vacancy left by Judge Jennifer Davis's promotion to Superior Court. Speights, a Cherokee County native and partner at Speights Law, has extensive experience in family and juvenile law, and has served as a defense attorney for the Juvenile Drug Treatment Court. STORY 7: $13M in State Funding Going to Cherokee Transportation Projects    Cherokee County has secured over $13 million in state funding for transportation upgrades, including the Ball Ground Bypass, Highway 140 widening, and improvements to the Cherokee County Regional Airport. This funding is part of a $1.5 billion state investment announced by the Georgia Department of Transportation, funded by surplus approved by Governor Brian Kemp and state lawmakers. The allocation includes $7.5 million for Highway 140 improvements, $4.4 million for the Ball Ground Bypass, and $1.2 million for the airport. Today's guest is a man by the name of Dario Nustrini, who's just published a book called Nothing Significant to Report: The Misadventures of a Kiwi Soldier. I thought it would be great to compare Army notes with him! Dario joined after high school, where he describes himself as a young man who had been on a steady diet of spliffs, Speights and the occasional sandwich, weighing about as much as an empty pillowcase. Mike and Bobby spoke to a WWL listener about the Alabama-LSU gambling controversy. Wilson Alexander, an LSU football reporter for The Advocate, joined Sports Talk to discuss the stability of the Tigers' quarterback room with the team's commitment from Garrett Nussmeier. Alexander talked about LSU's defensive line rotation. He shared his thoughts on Omar Speights, the transfer linebacker from Oregon State. Alexander broke down the Tigers' positional battles on special teams. The guys reported on Diamond Sports suing the Phoenix Suns. 

Codie Taylor is one of NZ rugbys great lads, a champion man on and off the field. He's also one of the best hookers in the modern era where his speed and skillset set him apart. Codie is someone who takes great care of his body, he has a rigorous training and recovery schedule which has certainly helped him avoid injuries throughout his 12 year career to date. However that doesn't mean its all smooth sailing, hearing him speak about how tough it can be under the spotlight when your form isn't where you'd like it to be was interesting. Codie has also launched his own recovery and performance drink called Eclipse, an unreal drink! That was cool to hear about how he got into running his own business and what he has learnt from that experience. I really enjoyed this one, Codie Taylor is one of the greats. Israel Dagg is one of the all time greats! At his peak the gifted fullback made rugby look easy, even in the All Black jersey in some of the biggest tests In his first ever podcast appearance, Izzy Dagg is incredibly open and honest about his journey through the good and the bad. He obviously had some amazing highs in the game such as winning Super Rugby with the Crusaders and the 2011 RWC at home. However like everyone he has had some real tough periods to get through too and the moment when he got caught going out before the RWC quarter final is certainly one.  With his life after footy being a huge success for him becoming a Radio host with SENZ and TV star, it was surprising to hear how much he struggled once he rugby career had finished. Elijah Taylor is a Rugby League legend here in NZ. He has played big roles for NRL sides including the Warriors, Panthers and Tigers, as well as playing internationally for the Kiwis. He is a man with the drive to succeed more than most and has put everything into his rugby league career, which is still going strong today. He is also a qualified pilot and a future rap star, a man of many talents! However, the bulk of this episode is about one of the craziest stories I've ever heard. During his career his manager stole over 400k from his bank account! I love how open and honest Elijah is in this episode, he's a seriously good lad who just wants no one else to be in the same position he got in to. The Speights What a Lad podcast season 4 is under way and what a guest to start! Michael Fatialofa was one of the toughest players on the field I ever played with and he proved he was even tougher off it after a life changing tackle. While playing for Worcester, Michael Fatialofa was hit awkwardly in a tackle that caused him to be Paraliyzed from the neck down and told he will never walk again. From that moment his life completely changed and hearing the battle he has gone through the last 3 years left me feeling inspired, sad and proud of what he has been able to achieve. This episode is an awesome reminder to be truely grateful for everything you have in your life, as like in Michaels case it can literally be taken away from you over night. I'm so grateful for Fat's coming on What a Lad and speaking so openly about his journey, it is one of the most powerful and inspiring episodes yet! If you enjoy this episode please give it a share! Looking back at LSU's transfer portal class, did the Tigers become a better or worse team? LSU lost key players, like WR Jack Bech, along with promising young prospects QB Walker Howard and LB Demario Tolan. But how did Brian Kelly and the Tigers staff replace those pieces? Kelly had several boxes to check and priorities when recruiting players, both in the transfer portal and coming out of high school: talent, remaining years of eligibility, ties to Louisiana, to name a few.
