We open this week’s bonus show by reflecting on this year’s Bobby Bonilla Day – and talk about some of the other players around MLB, including Max Scherzer and Chris Davis, who are also getting BROKE OFF for not playing for teams around the league. And we’re asked to give an opinion on the Kyle Filipowski story, which Rob thinks teams are using as an excuse for not drafting a player they didn’t think was very good. Noah Vonleh is also all over social media as the Shanghai Sharks booted him from his hotel room, as Rob reflects about the worst experience he had with an employer… and to everyone’s surprise it’s the Lakers. And after Cubs pitcher Justin Steele flipped out in the Chicago Cubs dugout, we ask Rob who gave one of his teams the loudest and angriest talk during or after a game. Plus after the Gladiator trailer dropped we talk about movies and shows that everyone else loves… and our Mount Rushmore of NBA greats that have never won a title.
Former Knick Noah Vonleh is playing in China and is really going after the team there for not paying him his bonus or his salary. They then canceled his hotel room and he's sleeping in the lobby updating us all on Instagram.
Hour 1 Happy 37th birthday to WFAN! The Mets dropped their series to the Astros and they have a bullpen problem right now with Edwin Diaz serving his suspension. Many teams have bullpen problems and there are only so many bullpen guys you can get at the trade deadline. We also talked about Pete Alonso. Gio doesn't think he will be traded at the deadline, but he doesn't think he will be a Met next year. Jerry is here for his first update of the day but first we talked about Akshay Bhatia choking yesterday while Gio was at his daughter's dance recital. Jerry started with the Yankees beating the Blue Jays yesterday. Judge hit his 31st HR of the season. Juan Soto hurt himself Friday night but wanted to be in the lineup on Sunday. Gerrit Cole pitched well. Wyatt Langford hit for the cycle for the Texas Rangers last night. In the final segment of the hour, there was a charity kickball game that Infinity Sports Network was involved in. Morning show producer EJ Stewart blew out his knee and had to go to the hospital. This is why Gio doesn't play sports. This is the best week of the Summer, and now EJ has a blown out knee for the rest of the Summer. Hour 2 OKC is all over Isaiah Hartenstein and will be the main competitor for the Knicks. Gio will not be mad at him for cashing in as this is probably the one time he'll be able to do so. The NBA is capping the amount of money the Knicks can pay with the early Bird rights. Boomer's son, Gunnar and his wife Darcy, had another baby, Mieke Elina Esiason. We then got back into the Hartenstein topic with the Knicks. Boomer somehow started talking about NHL free agency and Gio asked him which teams he would never want to play for. Gio wonders if Matt Martin would go to the Rangers or not. Jerry returns for an update but first we talked about Copa America and I have no idea what they're talking about. Jerry starts with the Yankees beating the Blue Jays as Aaron Judge hit #31. Boomer thinks Judge will break his own record of 62 home runs in a season. We have infighting with the Cowboys as Malik Hooked took a shot at Micah Parsons for spending too much time with the podcast and not on the Cowboys. In the final segment of the hour, Gio had to go to his daughter's dance recital. Gio's life has been invaded by women now. He's married with two daughters. Hour 3 Former Knick Noah Vonleh is playing in China and is really going after the team there for not paying him his bonus or his salary. They then canceled his hotel room and he's sleeping in the lobby updating us all on Instagram. Boomer wonders if he gets put in jail in China will the politicians in the U.S. care. Gio said they would. It's also Bobby Bonilla day. He gets paid $1.1 million every July 1 from the Mets. Nowadays there are tons of deferred contracts. We talked about Boomer's love of Precious Achiuwa. Jerry returns for an update but first we talked about Boomer's psychotic behavior of pouring the ketchup on his fries instead of dipping the fries in ketchup. Boomer also thinks everyone puts mayonnaise on bacon, egg and cheese. We took a bunch of calls from people who eat weird food combinations. That was Jerry's update. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry's here to do an actual update and he starts with Chris Russo having a hard time saying ‘Barack Obama'. Paul George signed with the Sixers for the max. Hour 4 We talked about NBA free agency and the NFL potentially expanding to 18 games. We also talked about the Mets and ‘OMG'. A caller wonders if Jerry will be including theTour de France in his sports updates. We also talked about Dua Lipa and Gio getting a shoutout on Peloton. Jerry returns for an update but first Boomer got a message from wrestler Mercedes Mone Varnado. Jerry has audio of Jalen Brunson at a WWE event at the Garden. Aaron Judge hit his 31st HR of the year as the Yankees beat the Blue Jays. Boomer wonders why Jerry covers the same topics in his updates. The Moment of The Day involves Eddie Scozzare's love of corn dogs. In the final segment of the show, Boomer & Gio will be golfing and filming with Barstool's Fore Play golf podcast.

The Hoosiers score a big one! Join Mike Goodpaster, Steve Risley and Brian Mohr as they discuss the Hoosiers' newest addition Mackenzie Mgbako! The Hoosiers look like a Top ten team now headed into the 2023-24 season!Mackenzie Mgbako from Roselle Catholic (New Jersey) signed his letter of intent with Indiana on Friday evening. Mgbako initially committed to Duke in October before opening up his recruitment in April and visiting St. John's, Kansas and Indiana before selecting Indiana as his destination. Mgbako considered Louisville but decided against visiting. According to 247 Composite, this 6-foot-8 forward is currently ranked as the No. 8 player in the 2023 class. He became the highest-ranked high school recruit to commit under Mike Woodson, now in his third season in Bloomington.According to RSCI rankings, Indiana has only attracted top-10 recruits since 1998: Eric Gordon, Romeo Langford, Noah Vonleh, Jared Jeffries and Cody Zeller are the only five. Mgbako joins Gabe Cupps and Jakai Newton as three high school players that will join Indiana for the 2023-24 season. Indiana also recently welcomed three transfers - Kel'el Ware from Oregon, Anthony Walker from Miami and Payton Sparks from Ball State - as part of its 2023-24 roster.Do the Hoosiers now have a roster that can bring Indiana back to national relevance? Only time will tell, but Cosck Woodson is doing a great job of stacking the Hoosiers roster with talented and athletic players.Indiana looks on paper at least as a top ten contender to win a National Championship in the upcoming season; the Hoosier's last National Championship was in 1987, and the teams last Final Four appearance was in 2002 so Coach Woodson has his work cut out for him. Still, Friday was a huge step in the right direction!Make sure to tune in to the Indiana Basketball Weekly show with Steve Risley all year long for the latest Hoosier content. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/michael-a-goodpaster/support
We start off our 2023 campaign with an in-depth discussion centered around ten-day contracts, which became legal to sign beginning on January 5th. Later, the team highlights the significance of January 10th, which is the day that a majority of the non-guaranteed contracts signed during free agency become guaranteed for the rest of the season. This ties into the reasons why Boston moved Noah Vonleh to the Spurs for little more than a highly protected 2nd round pick. Welcome to The 617! On this week's episode, we will start by addressing the injury of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who is still in critical condition at a Cincinnati hospital after going into cardiac arrest during a primetime game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Medical officials could restart Hamlin's heartbeat on the field before he was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further treatment and testing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Damar and his family during this difficult time.Next up, we will take a closer look at the Boston Celtics' 4-3 home stand, which followed a tough road trip that saw them go 4-2 but also suffer blowout losses to the NBA champion Golden State Warriors the LA Clippers. We will discuss the team's performance and the key contributors to these victories. In the NBA MVP race, we will examine whether Jayson Tatum or Luka Dončić has the edge and whether Nikola Jokić is back in the mix after his impressive performances over the past month. We will also discuss whether Tatum and Jaylen Brown are worthy of first-team all-NBA honors and if Rob Williams should be given a more significant role in the team's rotation. We will also delve into the news that the Celtics have decided to keep Joe Mazzulla as an interim coach and discuss whether this decision will impact the team's performance. Finally, we will analyze which players on the Celtics' roster may be tradeable and address the rumor that the team may waive Noah Vonleh and give DeMarcus Cousins a tryout. ------------TIMESTAMPS01:24 - Damar Hamlin injury update03:51 - What does it feel like to see a freak accident happen to a professional athlete?08:56 - Celtics Solid Homestead13:45 - Are the Celtics taking a risk relying on Rob Williams' health?18:29 - Will reinserting Rob Williams into the starting rotation ruin the Celtics' chemistry?22:09 - Grant Williams is the only tradable Celtic26:57 - Williams is not as important to the Celtics as Kendrick Perkins was30:35 - Does Grant Williams add anything offensively to the Celtics?33:02 - The best part about having an NBA League Pass: the halftime show35:42 - Will Joe Mazzulla ever become the official head coach of the Boston Celtics?39:15 - Tatum and Brown vs. the rest of the team44:14 - Projecting a regular season team to the postseason52:51 - Are the Celtics only as good as Jayson Tatum can take them?58:15 - Defensive intensity is a problem for the Celtics--------------Are you ready to make some money on the latest sports games and look good while you do it? This week I talk about the 2 preseasons game against the Hornets and the Raptors. I talk about the great things I am seeing from Malcom Brogdon and Derrick White & the not so great stuff from Marcus Smart. I breakdown Jayson Tatum's rebounding so far this preseason and why I think Noah Vonleh should make the roster.
Adam & Will dive into the 1 big vs. 2 big line-up question, how that impacts rotation players such as Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser, before ending with a discussion about Noah Vonleh and Justin Jackson. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
After an offseason hiatus the Celtics PRIDE team is back to discuss all of the offseason items that mean far less than they seem. After trying to avoid the Durant rumors as much as possible, Adam, Josh and Mike review the recent scuttlebut and give their thoughts on Durant, the risks involved in bringing him to any organization and the potential packages the Celtics could ship out. Then they switch gears from a player who puts himself first to a guy who had a “team ego.” Josh compiled some of the most impressive statistics about Bill Russell and plays a game to identify which one is most impressive. Is it his blocked shots, minutes per game, number of rings, his record in must win games or MVPs? The Podcast content turns to training camp contracts for Noah Vonleh and Bruno Caboclo and the Celtics' attempts to find a big man who can be a legitimate backup to Al Horford and Rob Williams. Coach Josh has some inside scouting knowledge on Vonleh going back to Vonleh's High School playing days and has more optimism on Caboclo than any reasonable human should at this point. The PRIDE guys then look at the Celtics' preseason schedule in October. Before ending, Mike and Josh tease a long rumored segment from Josh… a ranking on the NBA coaches most likely to win in a fight. That and more on this week's episode of Celtics PRIDE. In this episode, Naj dives into his thoughts on the COVID-19 protocols and talks about why keeping KD out for the past week might've been helpful for the Nets. Plus, Durant will return on Saturday to face his old team and the Nets Big 3 will be back in action for the first time in nearly two weeks. Alongside that, the Nets are about to embark on perhaps their toughest stretch of games this season, with matchups against the Kings, Suns, Clippers and Lakers all on the horizon.
