After a long week at Summer League, it's the Oddball crew's last day in Vegas. But before we go, we have to talk about, you guessed it, more basketball. The Lakers hired Lindsey Harding as the assistant coach to head coach JJ Redick. Amin thinks it adds some needed experience to the Lakers staff. Mikal Bridges signed a team-friendly deal, but Amin and Charlotte still believe he and Bruson are being lowballed. The President of the Clippers says he is upset Kawhi is not playing for Team USA, but Amin thinks it's cap. Before leaving Summer League, Amin spoke with attendees like former NBA players Al Harrington and Ryan Hollins, sportswriter Frank Isola, and social media athlete Tristan Jass about this year's players, games, and atmosphere. We also have our weekly segment of Odd and Ends, where we talk about Alexsandre Sarr's abysmal outing on Tuesday and Jayson Tatum's story about Lebron James from childhood. Amin also shares his interviews from his time at the Call of Duty suite with Stephanie Snowden, Grant Williams, Isaiah Thomas, and Jalen Williams, where they watched Bronny James win the Summer League C.O.D Tournament. The Charlotte Bobcats existed for 10 seasons and racked up a grand total of zero playoff wins. The pinnacle of the franchise came in 2009/10, when the Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace-led Bobcats made the playoffs and ranked first in defense. Stephen Jackson arrived in Charlotte nine games into the 2009/10 season after being traded from Golden State. Stak was just two years removed from making history with the 2007 We Believe Warriors. That Warriors core - featuring Baron Davis, Matt Barnes, Jason Richardson and Al Harrington - dismantled quickly following their magical run. By 2009, Captain Jack was the lone sailor left, and he wasn't happy. He publicly requested a trade in the summer of 2009 and was shipped off to the Bobcats in December. Directly following the trade, reporters asked Bobcats head coach Larry Brown if he was worried about Jackson joining his locker room. Stak had a bad reputation following the Malice at the Palace, and more recently from a sideline blow-up with his old Warriors coach, Don Nelson. But Brown was not worried at all. Jackson, he said, shared certain qualities with his former student, Allen Iverson. "I can deal with (high-maintenance) kids. All you have to do is be straight with them,' Brown said. ‘After six years with Allen (Iverson in Philadelphia), I don't look at anybody as a challenge. (Jackson) wants to play and he's a competitor. Guys like that you can make work in your locker room." With Jackson, Wallace, Tyson Chandler and Boris Diaw, the Bobcats won a franchise-high 44 games and made the playoffs for the first time in their history. Despite getting swept in the first round, this 2010 season is a source of great pride for Jackson. Catch new episodes of Forgotten Seasons every Wednesday. Learn more about your ad choices. Il DISASTROSO fallimento del SUPERTEAM ||| INCUBO Lakers 2012-2013

Cronache di basket

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 20, 2023 17:03

One of Al Harrington's biggest takeaways from his sixteen-year run in the NBA? Never let a rookie take your spot. The former power forward constantly found ways to evolve the game to outsmart new competitors--and, in his words, "provide a new offering." In his post-game career, he's used that mindset to build the cannabis company Viola, which sells high-quality forms of marijuana. But Viola's mission isn't solely to sell product. Instead, Al wants to ensure that Viola gives Black and brown entrepreneurs significant opportunity in the legal, multi-billion dollar cannabis industry. Al recognizes how decades of the American War on Drugs have ravaged Black and brown communities with disproportionate mass incarceration rates for marijuana-related offenses. He wants to offset that lasting harm by finding seats for entrepreneurs of color at the table. Al sat down with Jay to discuss the stigmas he has overcome as a Black former NBA player building a cannabis company, the challenges he's facing bringing up Black entrepreneurs in the space, and why Viola is the LVMH of weed. Plus, he talks about his preferred strain of cannabis, and what to ask for in a dispensary.
