Every time I speak with Dr. Mike, I have a blast talking to him. His sense of humor is funny to me. I told Dr. Mike, he should try stand-up comedy, but he didn't agree. His stories are funny and amazing. I totally respect him and truly adore him. I met Dr. Mike, when I went to Baltimore, Maryland, to accept my award for the Inspirational Media Award. Thanks to "And We Thought" Ladies - Jade and Wilnona, I would not have met Dr. Mike, if it wasn't for them, by the way, the ladies were and still are amazing, and their event was perfect. I interviewed Dr. Michael Deeze on July 14, 2023, and like always, I enjoyed it. I was excited to hear that his new novel will be coming out in September 2023, and he wrote it with his beautiful daughter. Congratulations to them. MICHEAL DEEZE was a child in the notorious Maplewood Commons housing projects of inner-city Chicago, growing up hard and fast. Surrounded by crime and violence, his family struggled to just hold their own while trying to escape their own poverty. Michael Deeze gained street sense young, and it became the backdrop for a life of multiple indiscretions and occupations. Michael Deeze is a natural-born storyteller—in life and in print. A child of the sixties, he draws extensively from his own diverse experiences and subsequent education to introduce the hapless Emmett Casey. As U.S. Army veteran and retired as a physician after 35 years in private practice as a Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Mike now lives in Illinois after spending decades living near the forests of Northern Wisconsin. He's a devoted father to his three children, a magical daughter, two grown sons, and his dog. His first novels are the critically acclaimed Bless Me Father, and For I Have Sinned, The Heretic is the final novel in the series. Michael Deeze life experiences are numerous, and he held many occupations before pursuing a health care education and career. In his storied life, he has visited every state in the Union and worked on 5 of the 7 continents of the world. From shoveling manure to delivering babies, he has many life stories. Honing his skills as a public speaker while he served as a professor and administrator for a major university, he is an excellent storyteller an a very funny person with a beautiful heart. To know more about Dr. Mike, please go to www.michaeldeezebooks.com, or you follow him on all social media Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube as Michael Deeze. Additional Information. What is a Data Breach? A data breach is a security violation, in which sensitive, protected or confidential data is copied, transmitted, viewed, stolen, altered or used by an individual unauthorized to do so. What is Malware? Malware (a portmanteau for malicious software) is any software intentionally designed to cause disruption to a computer, server, client, or computer network, leak private information, gain unauthorized access to information or systems, deprive access to information, or which unknowingly interferes with the user's computer security and privacy. What is a Payload? In the context of a computer virus or worm, the payload is the portion of the malware which performs malicious action; deleting data, sending spam or encrypting data. In addition to the payload, such malware also typically has overhead code aimed at simply spreading itself, or avoiding detection. What is Phishing? Phishing is a form of social engineering where attackers deceive people into revealing sensitive information or installing malware such as ransomware. Phishing attacks have become increasingly sophisticated and often transparently mirror the site being targeted, allowing the attacker to observe everything while the victim is navigating the site, and transverse any additional security boundaries with the victim. What is Information Security (InfoSec)? Information security, sometimes shortened to InfoSec, is the practice of protecting information by mitigating information risks. It is part of information risk management. What is a Vulnerability (computing)? Vulnerabilities are flaws in a computer system that weaken the overall security of the device/system. Vulnerabilities can be weaknesses in either the hardware itself, or the software that runs on the hardware. What is an "Attack Surface"? The attack surface of a software environment is the sum of the different points (for "attack vectors") where an unauthorized user (the "attacker") can try to enter data to or extract data from an environment. Keeping the attack surface as small as possible is a basic security measure. What is an "Attack Vector"? In computer security, an attack vector is a specific path, method, or scenario that can be exploited to break into an IT system, thus compromising its security. The term was derived from the corresponding notion of vector in biology. An attack vector may be exploited manually, automatically, or through a combination of manual and automatic activity.

Jerad W. Alexander is a writer, who's work has appeared in Rolling Stone, Esquire and other notable print publications.  He is the author of the recently released book "Volunteers: Growing Up in the Forever War".   Mr. Alexander served as a U.S. Marine during the peak years of the Global War on Terror from 1998 to 2006.  His military service took him to Iraq, East Africa and the Mediterranean region.    Prior to his deployment to Iraq, Alexander was part of a chemical/biological threat response unit based in Washington DC.   In the aftermath of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon, this special unit was tasked with responding to several high profile incidents associated with Anthrax and Ricin. The DC sniper was also an active threat during Alexander's time in the U.S. capital region, causing additional levels of stress and uncertainty amongst the military community.    On this episode on FDB, our guest reflects on his time growing up on various military bases throughout the U.S. including Utah, California and Georgia.  We also discuss the heavy influence of 1980s motion pictures such as Platoon and Full Metal Jacket on GenX.   Alexander goes into detail about his new book and other current political events that continue to evolve.  With the GWOT ceremoniously finished, Volunteers allows readers a chance to look back at a complicated and violent time in human history, as told by a significant individual who lived it up close and personal.

People Do Judge A Book By Its Cover - How To Create A Cover That Sells with Nick Zelinger

Real Fast Results for Marketing, Business and Entrepreneurs

Welcome to this episode of the Real Fast Results podcast!  Nick Zelinger is today’s special guest.  He is a publishing and graphic design extraordinaire who has put together many covers for bestselling books and covers that have won awards.  He’s won awards for his designs as well.  It’s important, as an author, to know what to watch out for when it comes to having a cover designed, and that’s what Nick is here to help you understand.  Welcome to the show Nick… Promise: How to Create a Book Cover that Sells Thanks for having me.  First of all, if you are thinking of publishing a book, or if you have already published a book and you aren’t getting good sales or have gotten some bad reviews, you may want to consider hiring a professional book designer.  The tendency today in independent publishing, self-publishing, is to do it yourself, and that’s, for lack of a better term, a crap-shoot.  You are going to be in the wild wild west of not knowing what you want to do, not meeting the printer’s specifications, and just not having a very professional design. Download the Complete PDF Show Notes Free for this Episode I think that if you’re serious about publishing your book… This is a business.  Independent publishing, or self-publishing, is a business.  You’ve got to treat it that way.  To do that, you’ve got to hire professionals.  I would say, first and foremost, for authors who design their own books, or want to, take a hard look at your skills, and be honest, and step back a little bit because you really do need to be very objective about your goals.  It’s a profession, and you get what you pay for in this industry, so you really do need to hire a professional. Do people really judge a book by its cover? Absolutely, and in fact, it’s the gateway to your book. [bctt tweet="Research shows that we have less than 10 seconds before a potential buyer makes a decision on a book cover" via="no"]It’s a subjective thing, but it’s something that makes them want to go to a bookshelf, pick it up, and look at the back, or click on the thumbnail at Amazon to see what the “Look Inside” feature is.  So you’ve got a very, very short timespan to really capture someone’s attention, no matter what the genre.
