The realities of addiction by Author S.E. Tschritter

When I say that S.E. Tschritter has a heart of gold, trust me on that! Our chat was both warm and deeply meaningful. I felt truly honored to connect with someone so kind and empathetic. I thoroughly enjoyed my conversation with Samantha, I didn't want to stop speaking with her. One of the best conversations. Sam E. Tschritter (pronounced Shridder) is a celebrated author with multiple awards to her name. She focuses on expressing grief and loss, guiding those in pain towards hope and healing. Through her poetry, fiction, and non-fiction, Tschritter creates work that resonates powerfully with readers long after the final page is turned. With over 20 years of leadership experience and contributions to more than 40 books, she speaks her truths with candor, humor, and genuine love. Growing up in Chicagoland and having lived in Minnesota and Oregon, Tschritter has a rich tapestry of perspectives from across the nation. Nestled in Simpsonville, South Carolina, she shares her home with her husband, their three daughters navigating the teen and preteen years, two playful cats named Pitter and Patter, and a spirited Siberian husky, affectionately named Onomatopoeia (a name she lost the voting for!). For Tschritter, there's nothing quite like the rejuvenating magic of gardening. It's her go-to escape for tackling those pesky plot holes, getting through writer's block, shaping characters, and brainstorming book concepts. Gardening truly holds a special place in her heart and occupies a significant chunk of her time!Samantha Evans' book, "The Prodigal's Son: Crackhead to Jesus Freak," recounts a life-altering night that began at 1:30 a.m. with a phone call that no spouse ever wants to receive. “Mrs. Evans, a sergeant from the police department here. There's been an accident.” Just six hours later, another devastating call followed: “Mrs. Evans, a nurse from the hospital. We discovered something concerning in the CAT scan.” That Sunday, instead of delivering his sermon, Pastor Clint Evans found himself facing jail time, grappling with a BAC of .24, a cancer diagnosis, and a felony charge for fleeing from the police. "The Prodigal's Son: Crackhead to Jesus Freak" is an inspiring tale of a Christian's relentless struggle with demons, addictions, and feelings of unworthiness. This narrative showcases a God who shines brightly, bestowing grace upon a man often deemed "unredeemable." The Prodigal's Son bursts open the church doors wide, welcoming society's misfits and urging the devout to rethink how they measure their own spiritual worth against those struggling with addiction, homelessness, and despair. Journeying from gutter to pulpit, from grace to the grave, this powerful narrative reveals the depth of God's relentless love for those society often overlooks. It also tells the story of a pastor facing the consequences of drunk driving, shedding light on the devastating impact of alcoholism on families. Many suffer in silence: 'My wife hid her addiction from me' and 'My husband concealed his alcoholism.' The struggle with drug addiction touches millions. Chatting with Trevor was an absolute blast! We had such a great time talking about his incredible voice—he truly has that perfect radio/TV sound. Not only is Trevor refreshingly down-to-earth, but he's also hilariously funny. He's authored two poetry books and has exciting plans for his career ahead. For a bit of background, Trevor W. Harrison is a retired sociology professor from the University of Lethbridge, renowned for his insightful work in political sociology, political economy, and public policy. He has penned, co-authored, or co-edited twelve books, including a prior poetry collection, alongside countless journal articles, chapters, and reports. Plus, he frequently shares his expertise in the public media space, including both radio and television. Trevor's poetry collection, "Poetry Without Borders," showcases him as a prominent political sociologist and public intellectual. In this thought-provoking compilation, he delves into themes of memory, regret, nature, and loss through a series of previously unpublished poems crafted over several decades. With a blend of wry humor and playful insight, these pieces invite readers to contemplate their own life experiences. In addition, Trevor's other collection, "War And Other Inconveniences," features a mix of poems penned since 2020 alongside five older works. Notably, a prior version of “A Pretty Good Planet” was featured in Alberta Views in March 2022, while “Guernica, Then and Now” made its debut in Canadian Dimension on November 8, 2023. Together, these poems tackle the unsettling dystopian themes of our time, highlighting issues like war, looming threats, our collective indifference, and the poignant consequences that follow. But war also shares the stage with other threats—climate change, pestilence, oligarchic power, and right-wing authoritarianism. The poems bend towards the dark, but in the author's words, he would rather walk in the truthful dark than in a false light. My chat with Jeffery H. Haskell was an incredible experience! He's not only driven but also incredibly relatable. As a gifted author, he has achieved remarkable success in his career. Interviewing him was a true privilege! Jeffery is a USA Today bestselling author, a Dragon nominee, and an award-winning journalist who lives and breathes the art of storytelling. Writing has been his passion since childhood—he can't recall a time when he wasn't spinning tales. Now a full-time author, he follows his calling with the support of his wonderful family. The only thing he enjoys as much as writing and sharing his insights on the craft is helping fellow authors thrive. He's committed to writing for life, and who knows? He might just keep going even longer! I can't forget to mention that he is also a podcast host. Dive into Jeffrey's thrilling universe of "Against All Odds: Grimm's War Book One." Meet idealistic Navy Lieutenant Jacob Grimm, who aspires to honor his mother's legacy from the last great war. But when he's compelled to open fire and obliterate a fleet of ships in order to protect his own crew, he believes he's acting like a hero—until he learns that those ships were filled with children. Now disgraced and stripped of his chances for advancement, Jacob's career seems to have reached its end. That is, until the head of ONI calls on him for an unconventional mission. He'll be taking command of the battered destroyer, Interceptor, stationed on the fringe of a chaotic system in turmoil. The kicker? This ship hasn't had a commanding officer in months, and it's in disarray. To make matters worse, Jacob finds himself mired in a corrupt region teetering on the brink of civil war against the Alliance. Get ready for a gripping adventure that tests the limits of loyalty and moral choice! Nobody ever mentioned to Jacob that he was expendable. A groundbreaking revelation is on the verge of reshaping intergalactic politics forever. If Jacob can't find a way to triumph, it won't just spell doom for the Alliance—it could mean the loss of freedom for all of humanity. Former Newspaper Journalist & Columnist/Editor for News/Sports (NFL) Author - Patrick Sangimino

Wow! I just had an incredible conversation with Patrick Sangimino! We clicked instantly, and our chat was bursting with energy and laughter. I can't even begin to describe how fantastic Patrick is. I'm so eager for our second interview! Patrick took a timeout and pulled to the side of the road to have the best conversation with me, which was super awesome. For over forty years, Patrick was a distinguished journalist, making his mark at various newspapers in California and across the Midwest before retiring in 2024. He spent eight seasons covering the NFL, skillfully balancing his time between news and sports as both a columnist and editor. Hailing from San Francisco and raised in the blue-collar coastal town of Pacifica, where he grew up among 39,000 residents, Patrick honed his skills at San Jose State University. He worked his way through college by freelancing at high school sporting events for the San Mateo Times. His journey began as the sports editor of a one-man sports department at the Pacifica Tribune, his local weekly paper. Fast forward five years, and he found himself covering the NFL for the Olathe Daily News, nestled in a Kansas City suburb just across the state line. After an exciting eight-season run there, he joined KMBC, the top ABC station in Kansas City. As the senior editor for their website, he penned a nationally syndicated column that reached audiences through all 64 Hearst-Argyle properties across the country. In 2006, a career-changing opportunity arose when his wife landed a prestigious position at a Fortune 500 company, prompting their move to Wichita, Kansas. He became the managing editor of the Wichita Business Journal, a role he embraced for three years before diving back into sports journalism as the sports editor and columnist at the Hutchinson News, the state's third-largest newspaper at the time. In 2014, his wife's job relocated them once again, this time to Omaha, Nebraska, where he contributed to the Omaha World-Herald before securing a position with the Lincoln Journal Star in 2018.After holding onto his position until his retirement in 2024, he made the journey back to sunny California—specifically Sunnyvale, right at the heart of Silicon Valley. There, he aimed to help his siblings take away the car keys from their now 87-year-old mother. Patrick's book, “Dogs Chase Cars,” offers a compelling look at the decline of the newspaper industry, seen through the eyes of a seasoned Kansas City sports columnist. On a November Friday, he heads to work, fully aware that he might be yet another victim in an industry that has faced devastating losses over the years. The narrative unfolds over a single day but dives into pivotal moments from his career—like the time he covered a World Series game in 1989 that was interrupted by a 7.1 earthquake, and the unforgettable incident of breaking the news about a Hall of Fame quarterback's rumored trade while caught in a rather awkward situation at a urinal. It's a story reflecting on shifting times, evolving technology, and the ignorance and hubris of industry leaders who once believed that past profits were untouchable.More information about Patrick, please go to https://patricksangimino.com/ or follow on social media. When Hanna's lifeless body is pulled from the frigid waters of Nolin Creek, authorities deem it a tragic accident—yet the story holds much more. Essi understands the truth all too well. Her sister would never have taken the chance of crossing dangerous ice—not after their youngest sister Martta tragically drowned years ago. Battling her guilt and fueled by unwavering loyalty, Essi starts to uncover the secrets that Hanna kept buried. I want to emphasize that seeking help from a therapist is absolutely normal—it doesn't mean you're struggling with insanity; it simply shows you're taking steps to heal. Audrey, the president of OverCat Communications, is a highly regarded communications expert focused on luxury clients. Beyond her impressive professional life, she's a devoted wife, a passionate mother, and a big-hearted animal lover. Juggling a dynamic lifestyle, she dazzles in her collection of stunning designer outfits. With a PhD in compartmentalization, Audrey brilliantly crafts the illusion of a picture-perfect life. Don't miss the opportunity to join her and her daughter Lindsay as they explore a profound journey through decades of intergenerational trauma and the weight of grief impacting four generations of women in their family. Hyams Romoff's striking term, “ripple eclipse,” powerfully illustrates how trauma, especially an experience as harrowing as surviving Auschwitz, extends beyond the individual who lived it. Its effects extend like ripples in water, touching children, grandchildren, and even later generations. The anguish can overshadow feelings of joy and warmth, akin to the sun being obscured during a solar eclipse. With this evocative phrase, Romoff sheds light on a legacy that many carry but seldom recognize. In this beautifully written narrative of resilience, survival, and spectacle, *The Ripple Eclipse* enriches our understanding of inherited trauma. The Power of "Food For Thought" Using Technology for School/Co-Founders Melissa & Shandra MacMaster

I had a great conversation with Melissa MacMaster. Melissa MacMaster and her sister Shandra MacMaster, is leading this charge by harnessing the power of technology to make school lunch programs more efficient, equitable, and impactful. Their mission is that no child should go hungry. Developed in 2020 as a way for children to more easily access nutritious food during the COVID-19 pandemic. Food For Thought Software Solutions exists to help streamline Canada's food initiative programs. They offer a reliable, sustainable, and discrete way to keep vulnerable children fed — now and into the future. In Nova Scotia, Canada—As schools across the country grapple with the challenges of ensuring every child has access to nutritious meals, innovative solutions are redefining the way they approach food security. “Food For Thought Software Solutions,” a forward-thinking company. The inspiration for “Food For Thought” emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic when widespread school closures left many children without reliable access to meals. While participating in Nova Scotia's COVID-19 food initiative pilot project, the company's founders witnessed the significant challenges of food distribution on a provincial scale. Recognizing the urgent need for a solution, Melissa and Shandra developed “Food For Thought”, a platform designed to revolutionize school lunch programs. Since its launch, the platform has collaborated with provincial governments, school boards, and non-profits across Canada, quickly proving its impact. Within just six months of the company's launch, “Food For Thought” supported two major government programs—Nova Scotia's School Lunch Relief Program and Prince Edward Island's Healthy School Food Program. To date over 1 million meals have been ordered through their platform. This remarkable achievement highlights the power of ‘Food For Thought” and its ability to create a scalable, meaningful difference in addressing food insecurity. Food For Thought is an all-in-one online platform that enables parents to pre-order lunch from their child's school discreetly through its “pay-what-you-can” model. This approach eliminates stigma and ensures that every child—regardless of economic background—has access to healthy meals. “At Food For Thought, our mission is to eliminate food insecurity in schools and create a stigma-free environment where all children can thrive,” says Melissa MacMaster, Co-Founder and CEO. “We believe no child should go to school hungry or feel excluded because of what is packed in their lunchbox.” By fostering inclusion and a sense of belonging at the school lunch table, “Food For Thought” is paving the way for a future where no child is left behind. As governments and school boards continue to look for sustainable solutions to food insecurity, “Food For Thought Software Solutions” is proving that technology can bridge the gap between need and nourishment. By redefining what it means to merge innovation with social good, the company is setting a new standard for how we care for our most vulnerable community members—our children. On July 16, 2024, it was a very special moment for me and the podcast. I was excited to have Hallie Balogh and Auttie Grace on the podcast. These beautiful ladies that I adore had me overwhelmed with excitement on the podcast. The young female authors/entrepreneurs are making great decisions in their lives. They are reaching for the stars. They are self publishing authors and want to help others to make their dreams come true. Hallie Balogh and Auttie Grace first met in 5th grade and that is when everything started. They quickly became known for always being together. You never only saw one of them, you will see them both. That 5th grade school year didn't only spark their friendship, but it set the foundation for the Auttie and Hallie writing power-duo. From 5th grade and all through middle school, they spent their free time writing stories together. Once Covid-19 hit, they took it as an advantage to write their first novel, “Empire: To Earth and Back.” Honestly, it started as a joke, but by the end of high school, they had published their second novel, “Empire: At Esprit's Core,” and won the national Inspirational Women in Literature award. Hallie and Auttie admit it was hard through school to remain close but they both had the same passion, writing. They are besties/sisters forever. As young female authors, they want to inspire others that no dream is “too big” when you're passionate about something. They want to continue inspire people of all ages and I must say, they have inspired me, plus I have a soft spot for them. I am super excited for their future. When I first met them at the ages of 15 and 16 years old, I knew they will have a bright future. Now 18 and 19 years old, the world and myself can't wait to see what is next.. Being fresh out of college or starting an internship and feeling overwhelmed, it's normal. Mike inspiration for this book is deeply personal. From Mike's own journey in tech and countless conversations with friends who are fellow managers, a recurring theme has emerged: coaching his junior hires. While there's an abundance of resources guiding individuals on job hunting and acing technical interviews, there's a glaring gap when it comes to preparing new hires for what's expected of them from day one in their new roles. Regardless of career path, there are fundamental communication, collaboration, and soft skills that are a key part of being successful in any job. Yet these topics aren't taught in college. The pandemic and extended lockdowns have further exacerbated this challenge. The shift to remote & hybrid work has deprived the current generation of college grads of invaluable in-person interactions, hands-on experience, and the confidence to navigate interpersonal dynamics effectively. This is why Mike decided to write "Cubicle To Corner Office: The Ultimate Survival Guide To Your First Job," which you can find this book everywhere. The conversation that Richard and I had was remarkable. I am super excited for Richard and his career path. He is doing such a great job with everything he has done so far. Richard Chevolleau is a native of Kingston, Jamaica. The multi-talented artist has honed his career over the years by living and working in New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver Calgary, Ottawa, and Toronto, where he currently resides. Richard, a Canadian Gemini and Actra award winning actor, is going to camera summer 2024 on his latest short film, “Marvelous Marvin.” Chevolleau brings his director/writer/producer skills to the table for the project. “Marvelous Marvin” is produced by Three Finger Film Productions Inc. Chevolleau's production company, executive produced by Richard Fagon & Angie Reid. The film stars Knyght Darius Jack, (Accused, Blues Clues, Grayson's Encounter) Angie Reid (Coroner, Slip, Promise Me) Shanice Banton (Degrassi: The Next Generation, Murdoch Mysteries, Lifetme's Her Stolen Past) and actor Michael Brown (Four Brothers, Hudson & Rex, Diggstown). Chevolleau's sensitive and heartwarming film is a coming-of-age drama. “Marvelous Marvin” follows the journey of quiet ten-year-old Marvin Marvellus, who lives in a small rural town. Marvin has caught the wrath of the schoolyard bully, Tiny, and endures daily bullying from the boy. Marvin feels defeated and helpless until one day he discovers his father's vintage superhero comics. He finds inspiration in the comic book heroes, leading him to believe that he can become a real-life superhero. He wears a make-shift cape and calls himself Marvelous Marvin. But, even with the name change and cape, Marvin realizes that defeating his bully isn't that simple. He finally confronts his tormentor, and by standing up to him, Marvin discovers that courage comes from within if you believe in yourself. Being a passionate and character focused actor, it's no surprise that Chevolleau will educate and inspire us with “Marvelous Marvin.” Chevolleau pays attention to his craft and knows you can not stay quiet, and every day is a journey. By directing, writing, and producing projects, Chevolleau makes sure his work is heard on his terms in the stories and characters he creates. Gail Treasure, a retired teacher, writer & author who has something to say to the podcast..

The conversation with Gail Treasure was a good down to earth conversation. Gail is a remarkable writer, author, and retired teacher. We had a very interesting conversation about her career and journey in life. Gail Treasure is a retired school teacher who still teaches occasionally. Gail attended York University, where she majored in French and Italian. Gail has always loved to write, has taken countless writing courses, and attended numerous writing workshops. She is currently writing a novel for pre-teens, and she can not wait to release it. Gail is happily married and has two scientist daughters who Gail loves very much. Gail grew up in Toronto but now resides in the beautiful town of Uxbridge, Ontario. Gail wrote a novel called "Wife by the Hour" which was inspired by her many trips to France, her fascination with peeling back layers of the institution of marriage, and her desire to shed some light on the issue of the rights of sex workers in modern society in a fictional way. Gail is in a women group of kicka$$ writers. RE:BOOKS, a prominent independent publishing house in Toronto, was established by renowned 10x bestselling author, Rebecca Eckler. With a mission to champion the idea that "what's good is read and what's read is good," RE:BOOKS is dedicated to delivering captivating stories that even Eckler herself would love to devour. No book snobs allowed! RE:BOOKS helps women to get their books published—from the big idea to the bestsellers' list. No excuses. No sugarcoating. By curating the most exciting titles in Canadian publishing, they continue to inspire readers, offering a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction titles. Therefore, Gail's novel "Wife by the Hour" is about a woman named Julia - Meet Julia, a confident and empowered middle-aged single mother gracefully balancing her professional life as the sought-after escort, “Just Julia”, a nod to Pretty Woman. She enjoys the lucrative work; however, faced with the shifting sands of parenthood, she has decided to exit her “under the covers” business and turn to a full-time teaching career, stepping away from the escort business for good. On her final day, Julia finds herself more than enjoying the company of her last client—a handsome man named Alex, who she soon recognizes as the husband of a friend with whom she had spent a turbulent summer au pairing in the South of France 25 years earlier. Julia is bewildered as she realizes that she has undeniably strong feelings for a man for the first time in her life. As Julia falls deeper in love (and lust) with Alex, she can't help but dream that maybe—just maybe—he will reciprocate her feelings. When Alex asks (and pays) for Julia and her daughter to go to France, where he'll be vacationing with his family, including his wife, Julia can't say no, no matter how risky it is for everyone. Mostly, Julia wonders if and how it's possible she can get Alex to leave his marriage for her. Alternating between past and present day, Julia reflects on her escorting experiences and explores the seven reasons why many men are reluctant to leave their marriages and choose to pay for intimacy instead. He took inspiration to action and wrote his first novella. Roger sensed to his very soul that he was on his journey of a lifetime. After Roger moved to Texas with his family when he was a teenager, he set his sights on being a novelist. At the time, he didn't know if he would have the talent to achieve his dreams. But the passion that Roger felt to succeed ran deep enough to sustain him through years of disappointing rejections and fateful detours. Roger writing throughout his high school years was empowering. Convo w/Dr. Amara Pope-Canadian R&B Scholar/Marketing Manager/Keynote Speaker who loves her journey

Play Episode Listen Later May 27, 2024 16:47

I had a very awesome interview with Dr. Amara Pope. She is a fun person to speak with, especially when we talk about music and marketing. Amara is passionate about her career, and she strives to be the best of herself. Dr. Amara Pope is a second-generation Canadian-Trinidadian woman. Under thirty, Pope has completed her Ph.D., MA, and Joint Honors BA, all while working at several jobs to pay for her education. Nothing was given. The onus was on her to succeed. Pope brings laser focus and personal clarity to her PhD. dissertation, "Canadians Redefining R&B: The Online Marketing of Drake, Justin Bieber, and Jessie Reyez" The topic stems from the impact music had/ has (although not fully realized at the time) on this little girl growing up in a predominantly white place. Today, Dr. Amara Pope is a passionate and confident marketing manager, the first in a loving working-class family to graduate with a PhD. Music became an important part of her life growing up, the understanding of why and how significant came later in the journey, with Pope's insightful PhD dissertation. Pope's well researched work uncovers the missing history of Canadian R&B, which had been excluded from Canadian media in the past. Pope features stories with Crack of Dawn, Oscar Peterson, Jackie Shane, Eleanor Collins & others. The paper critiques the organization of music through racial and national divides with insights from interviews conducted with music professionals and marketing executives. Pope explores how Canadian music was exclusively represented by white rock and folk artists & R&B music was exclusively used to group Black U.S. artists. The extensive dissertation argues that R&B exemplifies a multicultural Canadian identity by investigating how Drake, Justin Bieber, and Jessie Reyez broke into the music industry to represent multiple yet equally Canadian R&B artists. Pope analyzes the growing popularity of contemporary Canadian R&B in the digital era by examining Drake's, Bieber's, and Reyez's performances during BLM and the COVID-19 pandemic when they all released new music. The researcher takes an in depth look at the rise of Canadian hip hop and R&B music, specifically through the struggles of many racialized and immigrant Canadian artists who work together in the periphery of Canadian society to break into mainstream media. Pope explores how these Canadian artists collaborated with many U.S. artists to establish what she calls "Canadian R&B music," a mixture of R&B, hip-hop, pop, soca, reggae, and many immigrant sounds, styles, and cultures. The dissertation looks at how Drake, Justin Bieber, and Jessie Reyez reinforce, complicate, and / or challenge dominant beliefs of "Canadian-ness" and "R&B-ness" At a young age, Pope relocated from Scarborough, On. with its diverse ethnicities to a small town in Elmira, On. where hers was the only “brown family.” They were known as the “brown” family in the corner house. Pope embraced her Trinidadian culture with strength, understanding, and a sense of empowerment. She realized after her dissertation that musical artists like Bieber, Drake, and Reyez resonated with her younger self and allowed her to embrace different parts of her identity in ways that her immediate environments did not permit. Pope uncovered a deep interest in exploring the ability of musical artists to create experiences that she can enjoy along with other listeners. Conversation with Emil Rem, an Accountant, Writer & Author who told his story....

On Keepin It Real w/Caramel Podcast, Caramel had an interesting and informative conversation with Emil Rem. Emil meets a lot of people, and he is not afraid to speak with strangers. Matter of fact, he makes great friends, so you never know who will meet until you speak them. Emil Rem, an eccentric accountant and he becomes a writer of eccentric characters, in exotic locales—each chapter, taking us on a trip into his fascinating twisted world. Born to a close-knit, middle-class Muslim East Indian family in Dar-es-Salam, Africa, in the 50's, he is then moved to Maidenhead England at the age of five. The next twenty years are spent shuttling between England and East Africa, wearing a St. Christopher's cross one minute and attending church, to wearing a green armband and attending Muslim religious classes in Africa the next. Moving to Canada, marrying a woman from the Philippines and having two boys only adds further texture to his stories. At the age of five, his mother, who possessed no education but held impossible ambitions, divorced his father and moved to England with Emil in tow. The only work she could get was as a trainee nurse but found she could not look after Emil. An English working class family volunteered to take him in until she found a permanent home for him. The initial two weeks turned into 12 years…His father continued to work for an airline which permitted Emil to travel free(ly) on standby and from the age of 12 he began to travel the world on his own… “Neither of his parents could afford to come with him. His mother gave Emil a pittance for his travels—it was all his mother could afford. Emil would arrive at London airport with a carry-on bag and a wad of tickets and take whichever airline had space available. He could have been in Moscow or Rio de Janeiro, Emil never knew. Nor did his family.” Today, Emil is a successful accountant, a respected member of my local community, and the author of three well-reviewed books with more in the works. Many of their chapters have appeared in literary magazines. His wife and Emil are happily married after 30 years, and they have raised two pain-in-the-neck boys who drive him crazy, but whom he loves dearly. Therefore, to understand Emil, his most fundamental conviction is this: It's not the chances you're given in life that matters. It's the choices you make. Your choice of action in the face of discouragement and adversity. Your choice of attitude: negative or positive, stuck or resilient, powerless or empowered. Your choice between despair and hope. Emil has chosen action, resilience, and hope—and he believes that we each have it within ourselves to do the same. Great conversation with Richard Parker, the Founder of Diomo/A Business Buying Expert & Author

Richard Parker and Caramel had a wonderful conversation on Keepin It Real w/Caramel Podcast. The conversation was so genuine and refreshing to know that Richard is truly in the world to help people. Richard Parker is the founder of Diomo Corporation – The Business Buyer Resource Center™ and author of the How To Buy A Good Business At A Great Price© series. Richard has purchased fourteen of his own businesses and has been an advisor and broker to small business buyers and sellers for over three decades. He has written and been featured in more than 300 articles on the subject of buying businesses in The New York Times, Entrepreneur Magazine, and The Street.com. He is also a weekly contributor to Forbes Magazine. Richard was recently nominated for Inc. Magazine's ‘Entrepreneur of the Year' award. Richard was born in Canada in 1961, and based in Florida since 1996, Richard Parker has been a business “junkie” since childhood, owning his first business at 12 and selling it profitably at 13 (this remains his favorite business story). His fascination with getting others involved in businesses started at this young age when he recruited seven neighborhood children as paper carriers and then successfully approached the local Sunday paper to grant him a master route with the idea of letting them solicit home delivery where there was none previously (sub-contracting the other kids and taking a percentage of their business of course) and so a career was born. The businesses have changed in the past 30 plus years, but the excitement remains. Richard feels “It has taken a lot of time, effort, and some painful experiences to develop the tried and true formulas that immediately identify a good business. More importantly is recognizing what particular business is ideal for the individual and which types are not. Good businesses run by the wrong people quickly turn sour, and that's why so much of his material is devoted to helping each client buy a business that's right for them. Richard can't even begin to tell you how much he enjoys what he does for a living. Richard knows he is very lucky. He can't wait to start each work day. That's the beauty of owning a good business; it overtakes Richard in a way that he feels it is so incredible it's nearly impossible to explain to someone who has never experienced it. That is exactly why Richard will help you achieve. You will soon understand his enthusiasm after you begin to follow his program and how you get to know each other. Richard is always available to help anyone. Richard promises he will do everything in his power to put you into the business of your dreams. If you are serious about being self-employed, then learn the right way to do it. In 1954, the case of Brown vs. Board of Education was a landmark in the Supreme Court ruling that declared the racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional. This was considered one of their most celebrated victories in a long time. To this day, it remains one of the most defining moments in US history. Brown vs. Board was a coordinated group of five lawsuits against school districts in Kansas, South Carolina, Delaware, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Some of those featured on the song are Brendon Elliott, a violinist and Julliard graduate who has earned distinction through his performances with the New York Philharmonic and as a guest soloist with the Virginia and Richmond Symphony Orchestras. -Bizzy gained recognition in the hip-hop community as he was featured on Tech N9ne's track “Erbody But Me” on the 2016 album. This was a pivotal moment for Bizzy and helped him become a figure in the midwest rap scene. - Stik Figa is a Topeka, KS based rapper who blends a southern style with a midwest influence. His notable accomplishments include collaborations with Mello Music Group and appearances on Shade 45. -Roger Ortega is a spotify-verified and Grammy Voting R&B/Pop Artist. Roger has had the opportunity to open for artists such as Jay Z, Color Me Badd, Aaron Carter, Otown and DJ Pauly D to name a few. His successes include his first album “RnBPoPWrtyr” reaching #62 on the itunes chart and his second album “The Lottery” reaching #8. - Lamont Jackson is a Topeka, KS police officer with a love for music. His singing and songwriting talents have given him the ability to showcase his talents through performances and karaoke nights. Most recently, his enthusiasm for music led to viral fame with a “police car karaoke video” that caught the attention of Kelly Clarkson, and he was invited as a guest on her show. This is just the start for SJ, in May 2024 he will be releasing his album “Syncronicty in Motion” as well as his Hip Hop Play “Rhythm of Insight: A Hip Hop Odyssey in Verse”, featuring 10 classic hip hop beats with his own lyrics as a 50 years of Hip Hip Salute which will have multiple volumes. It has been 2 years, and another great conversation with the Bestselling Author - JP McLean

It has been 2 years since I spoke with JP McLean. She was very excited to speak with me, and I felt the same way..so the feelings were mutual. When Keepin It Real w/Caramel spoke JP McLean, it was a pleasure speaking with JP. We had a ball catching up. She is full of life, and by way, the conversation was very fun. JP (Jo-Anne) McLean is a bestselling author of urban fantasy and supernatural thrillers. She is a Global Book Award winner, a CIBA finalist, and has received honours from the Eric Hoffer Book Awards, the Wishing Shelf Book Awards, the Whistler Independent Book Awards, and the Victoria Writers' Society. Raised in Toronto, Ontario, JP has lived in various parts of North America, from Mexico and Arizona to Alberta and Ontario. JP holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business, is a certified scuba diver, an avid gardener, and a voracious reader. She had a successful career inhuman resources before turning her attention to writing. JP lives with her husband on Denman Island, which is nestled between the coast of British Columbia and Vancouver Island. JP love of reading started early. She has memories of sitting in her father's lap with a picture book from the library and dragging her finger along the page under words that her Dad would help her sound out. Her love of writing started somewhat later but ignited when she began writing what she loved: supernatural thrillers. Some call it urban fantasy, paranormal, or magical realism. The definitions overlap somewhat, but the thing they have in common is a fantastical element that forces you to suspend reality and ask the question, What if that were possible? JP stays true to herself, and she writes what she feels and she loves when the reviewers love what they read. Her reviewers call her books addictive, smart, and fun. I knew JP is someone special, she keeps elevating and I can't wait until one day she writes her movie, to me it going to sell very well, plus I want to be in it, that's if she let me, we will see.
