Does baby sleep make you anxious? Does your anxiety keep you from sleeping? Either or both of these things can be true. The relationship between anxiety and sleep as a new parent is complex. Beacon visitor center reopens after lapse If you spend much time on Main Street in Beacon, you're probably familiar with Carmen Johnson. The city resident, a retired Social Security Administration claims representative turned crossing guard, helps pedestrians navigate the tricky west end of Main, near the Bank Square Coffeehouse, on weekday mornings and afternoons. Now, she's adding weekend hours. Johnson is among a handful of volunteers who will assist Dutchess Tourism as it reopens the Beacon Welcome Center, a small building at Polhill Park that will be more visible when construction is complete at the consolidated fire station next door. She will be there from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays doing what comes naturally - talking to people about Beacon. "I love telling people about the city - the age of it, the history of it," said Johnson, who volunteered and later managed the Welcome Center over a 14-year period while it was operated by the Beacon Chamber of Commerce. "It's an honor." She noted that the building is well-situated. "As people come up that hill" from the Metro-North station, it is "the first face of Beacon," she said. "There we are with our 'open' sign." The Welcome Center closed after the pandemic shutdown in 2020 and, with the Beacon Chamber in flux, struggled to reopen. Earlier this year, Dutchess Tourism, a nonprofit agency funded primarily by the county government, contacted city officials to discuss a relaunch. What Happened to the Beacon Chamber? The once-vibrant Beacon Chamber of Commerce has become a bit of a mystery. Patrick Moroney, a Cold Spring native who was elected president in February 2022, said last year that the organization would "re-engage in 2023" but that he would step away after he finished his two-year term. He said elections were scheduled for early 2024. Moroney said the group held monthly meetings, hosted free trainings and re-formed its board of directors. In August, the City Council gave the chamber a one-year, $10 lease for the Welcome Center, with options for four renewals. In 2022 and 2023, the chamber and real-estate agent Charlotte Guernsey organized the Hocus Pocus Halloween parade, which had been suspended during the pandemic. However, on Wednesday (May 22), Moroney said that the chamber has paused operations. He cited a lack of support and said it no longer made sense to keep the organization going. Ron Donofrio, a Beacon real estate agent who runs MainStreetBeacon.com, said he agreed last year to convert his website into the official chamber site, "but next thing I knew," Moroney and his partners had "disappeared." "I give him an A for effort," Donofrio said. "But you can't do a chamber with four people." Donofrio said he hopes to soon relaunch Main Street Beacon, which now states it is not affiliated with the chamber. Moroney said in an interview last year that he visited local merchants to introduce his vision but missteps from the past kept resurfacing. "People would say, 'Well, here's what happened a few years ago,' but I told them, 'Leave it there; it didn't involve me,'" he said. "This old baggage makes things challenging." One of Moroney's initiatives was to give Beacon business owners access to Locally, an app he developed. But in December, James Murphy III, one of his partners, sued Moroney in state court, alleging that Moroney "improperly and illegally utilized" more than $120,000 that Murphy had invested in the project. Moroney filed a response in January, denying the claims. He countered by saying that Murphy was guilty of "egregious acts of tortious interference, defamation, libel, intent to inflict emotional distress, fraudulent misrepresentation and breach of contract" and asked for a $137,000 judgment. The case is pending. With the chamber inactive at times over the last decade, the Beacon Arts Community Organization, or BeaconArts, has tried to fill the gap, stating on its website that after the introduction of the after-hours Second Saturday concept it b...

Today, The Two Mikes recorded an episode that seems, at long last, to explain how the 2020 and 2022 elections were stolen without any of the sophisticated electronic tools, computer systems, and other esoteric means that have been talked about on our show and many others since 2020. Our guest today, Michele Swinick, who has worked as an election-day official in Arizona elections in Maricopa County, explains in clear and commonsense terms how the Maricopa elections were stolen by cooperation among Democrats, Republicans, and civil servants by the simple means of (a) not obeying the election laws of the state, its counties, and other localities, and (b) the collusion of all players in both parties working toward the same illegal end. That's it, no whizbang methods, always-wrong experts, or space-age tools, just simple, easily provable, and well-documented illegalities. There also is no need or reason for circus-like, big-name shows criss-crossing the country to explain the "maze of cheating" that supposedly occurred during the elections -- for just the cost of admission, of course. The Two Mikes have done quite a few shows on the issue, but this show with Ms. Swinick and two previous show with Joe Freid -- makes the most sense and is backed up fully by the state's own election and post-election documents. Ms. Swinick's rattlingly good presentation and concise factual statements show that "none of us have a country so long as the uniparty is in control", a conclusion that seems all too accurate. She adds, moreover, that items from Arizona's menu of cheating methods are used by other states in order to arrange elections that keep the uniparty in power. @EverythingHomeT Our guest, Michele Swinick (@EverythingHomeT), and her colleague-in arms, the attorney Leon Donofrio (@lcdlaw1), used the fully legal method of time-consuming research in public documents, namely securing those documents by request from Arizona's version of the Freedom of information act. The state, at times made it hard for Ms. Swinick at times -- for example, by limiting her visits to one important document repository to one a month -- but through patience and hard work seems to have proved without doubt that both parties -- the uniparty -- cooperated at every step of the way and got the results they wanted.Ms Swinick and her colleague have worked long and hard and, using the state's own election government, have found and documented that many of the officers running the election disobeyed the law, lied, and failed to record information about the elections required by law; all easily found facts that should void the 2020 and 2024 elections. But none of the of the defeated candidates, from either party, in the two elections, have shown any interest in using the air-tight evidence of fraud put together by Ms. Swinick and her colleague that has been presented to them. Neither defeated senatorial candidate Abe Hamadeh nor gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, have been interested in considering the full story that tells of comprehensive cheating by those who ran the selections. Very Odd that defeated candidates -- one a flamboyant national figure -- have no interest in easily proving they were denied their victories by well-documented official fraud. Ms. Swinick and Mr. Donofrio are the leaders of the "Save My liberty Movement" and two of their most informative podcasts -- along with 300 other episodes and supporting documents -- are available for listeners and readers. - for free! If you made a mashup of Shat The Movies films, "The Blood of Heroes" might be the result. It has a dose of "Mad Max," a pinch of "Blade Runner," two tablespoons of "Robot Jox" and just a hint of "The Sandlot." Definitely an acquired taste. Rutger Hauer returns to a dark, wet dystopia in this 1989 sci-fi cult classic that spawned the real-life game of Jugger and reminded Dick Ebert of all the niche sports he discovered in the early days of the pandemic. "The Blood of Heroes" piqued the Shat Crew's curiosity in a way few movies have, leading to questions about post-apocalyptic aristocracy, water conservation, armor design, measuring time in stones, nerd dream girls and the logistic of carrying large furniture as luggage. What does feel-good food mean to you?! New York Times bestselling author and founder of the widely popular blog Love & Lemons, Jeanine Donofrio, believes that “feel good” can mean different things to different people, especially when it comes to food. To Jeanine, feel-good food is seasonal, centered around vegetables, satisfies a craving, and is fun to make! As one of the original food bloggers who has inspired millions, Jeanine has made it her mission to help people choose fresh, plant-forward meals that just make you feel good. Understanding that we all have different styles for preparing food, Jeanine distinguishes between two types of cooks: those who like to plan ahead and those who prefer simple recipes at the ready. In this episode, I focus on the reading habits of teenagers with high school English teacher, Beth Donofrio. Beth has her bachelor's degree in Secondary Education for English and her master's degree in Children and Adolescents at Risk from Harvard. She is a conference speaker, editor, and author of the book, Champions Way: Inspiring Stories from the Journeys of Hometown Champions. Beth conducted a survey in her high school and discusses the trends of teenage reading habits. She answers the question, "How does reading change during childhood and how can it be regained?" Studies show a consistent decline in daily reading as children grow older, with a sharp drop by age nine that does not typically recover throughout adolescence. Scholastic reported a 24% drop in daily reading and The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) reported a 34% drop in daily reading. Since 1984, the number of tweens and teens who read for pleasure at least once a week decreased 5% among 9-year-olds and 24% among 17-year-olds. Finally, more preteen and teenagers reported to rarely if ever read for pleasure since 1984: sixteen percent more of 9-year-olds, 18% more of 17-year-olds. So, what changed, and how can we get it back?Listen to Beth as she discusses what has changed in teen life as well as their choices, how it's impacted SAT and reading scores, what books can help your teen, and how adults of all ages can impact teen reading habits. "What class are you?" It's a question that Vermont Public reporter Erica Heilman has been asking people in Vermont. In this story, Montpelier attorney Mike Donofrio talks about what it means to be financially comfortable in a world of growing income inequality.
Heather Daly-Donofrio's role as the USGA Managing Director for Player Relations and Development has kept her quite busy over the last year. She has spearheaded the creation of the USGA's National Player Development. A program that many felt was a long time coming. After research and discussions with people around the world, Daly-Donofrio and her team rolled out their plan this winter. Daly-Donofrio is a perfect fit for this job, as she started playing the game at 15 and managed to find her way to college at Yale and then played on the LPGA Tour. She has an understanding of the challenges of finding a pathway as a junior golfer, especially having started the game a little on the late side for someone that did play professionally. Daly-Donofrio speaks about the process for rolling out this program, the challenges and the benefits. It's all very new and very fluid, and it's exciting to imagine how the program grows over the next 5-10 years as players make their way into and through the program. Hello listeners! Today have Nick Donorio on the show today.Nick Donorio is a second generation American. His grandparents were poor, Italian immigrants - and his family was hard working, focused on value creation. They were poor, but never thought of themselves as poor - they always had food to eat, and always sat down at the table for dinner at night. Nick spent 44 years of his life at IBM, as an electrical engineer and then as a technology leader. In 2008, he "graduated" from IBM, and now holds board seats for dozens of companies.Nick is the co-author of the book "If Nothing Changes, Nothing Changes". The book is a powerful testimony to our ability as human beings to drive transformation - not just within tech, but across generations. With heart and candor, Nick explains how he led IBM's global technical team to embrace market centric, focus redefining innovation and sparking worldwide collaboration.Get the book on Amazon, or learn more at nickdonofrio.com.SponsorsAirbyteDopplerHost.ioIPInfomablSupportZebraLinksWebsite: https://www.nickdonofriobook.com/Book: https://www.amazon.com/If-Nothing-Changes-Donofrio-Story/dp/1544531338/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicholas-donofrio-7588609/ Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/code-story/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Long-term storage chicken on sale. Get $50 off with promo code "JDR" - https://prepperorganics.comI took some heat last week when I said they were trying to steal Arizona. Some had pointed out that the votes had barely been counted at that point and that a landslide for Kari Lake and Abe Hamadeh as well as wins by Blake Masters and Mark Finchem were still likely. As I said then, the signs were in the air before the first vote was officially counted that the fix was in, the steal was happening, and a week or so after the election we would find out in disgust that our candidates allegedly lost.On today's episode of The JD Rucker Show, I am visiting with Leo Donofrio, an attorney from New Jersey who has done the research necessary to come up with a gameplan should the elections in Arizona get stolen. From what I've heard so far, it's a solid plan. Hopefully he'll be able to lay it out for us and give us a direction about how to move forward. Lawfare may be our only recourse and unfortunately Republicans are far behind Democrats in that arena. It's time to get better at it in a hurry. The plan, as I understand it now, is that since the Maricopa attorney admitted there was the potential for voter fraud with the broken machines and since voter sentiment is leaning toward lacking trust in the results, Arizona has a method through which a single voter (though preferably more) can challenge the results and get the election annulled. It does not require proving voter fraud nor does it require proving intent. The circumstances need to be demonstrated that enough voters do not trust the results for good reasons, and considering the election day debacle in Maricopa County, they should have ample reasons to be disenfranchised. As with any attempt to overturn fraudulent elections in the 21st century, it won't be easy. But the way Donofrio has explained it to me so far gives me reason to believe there's a reasonable chance of success. Please pay attention and share this video with everyone, especially those in Arizona. We need actions to start now, not next week, next month, or next year. We already got suckered into "moving on" after the last election. It cannot happen this time or there may not be a future election.
When it comes to the greatest Vietnam war movie of all time, two films come to mind: Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" and Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket." Longtime listener Hot Sauce Steve was kind enough to commission the latter. Everyone remembers the belly laughs and jaw-dropping surprises in "Full Metal Jacket," R. Lee Ermey's unforgettable performance, Vincent D'Onofrio's body transformation, and the wealth of dark humor. But we don't always take the time to celebrate the film's sets or dig deeper into Kubrick's themes of dehumanization, indoctrination, and whether man can withstand the unnatural conditions of war. In this episode, the Shat Crew hears Big D's Sapper School Tales, explores sex-worker inflation, outlines the economics of short-time versus long-time, debates slow-motion deaths, and plans Ash's Chaturbate career.
