“I think we should be profoundly concerned about the woke message being given to our children through our schools.” “The only thing in the world we can control is ourselves. And we give way to bitterness, if we give way to cynicism or complacency or denial, then we've given away the one thing we can control. If you lose your temper, you didn't lose it, you gave it away.” Recent events have shown us there's a force in the process of trying to take away our freedom; our ability to control our children, our families, and our communities. Even our beliefs. But ultimately these events have only served as a wakeup call. This force is not winning. It's clear that the majority will not stand by to allow this to unfold. But the way forward is standing up for the principles that support our basic human nature and promote the virtue that strengthens every aspect of our selves and our society. Lt Colonel David Grossman is a decorated soldier, Westpoint psychology professor, husband and father, and a man of faith. He's seen the battle ground and he understands the strength of a man and a society that fights with virtue for truth and freedom. He knows that a man's freedom is ultimately maintained by his virtuous principles, not his government. He's written several books, including the Amazon best seller, On Killing (Marine Core Commandants required reading), On Combat, and the soon to be released, On Hunting. He's trained military and law enforcement around the world. Dave's advice for how to empower your masculinity: Get control of your life and promote healthy sleep for your self and your family. Identify the things you can do in a violent world. Learn how to handle a weapon and know how to use it virtuously. Don't live in fear. Get control of your children, their training and education. Get control of local politics, school boards. Invest in their education and future through faith based, private education. Live a virtuous life. Build a virtuous family. Some of Dave's other books are; On Combat, On Spiritual Combat, Sheepdog (kids book), and his latest book, soon to be published is, On Hunting. Lt Col Dave Grossman the founder of Grossman On Truth, a former US Army Infantry Officer and Ranger, West Point Psychology Professor, and the founder of killology. Killology is a relatively new field of scientific study focused on the psychology of having to take a life on the battlefield, which not only includes war zones abroad, but the one many of our law enforcement brothers and sisters face every day. He has written numerous books and publications on the topic like his well known books On Combat, and On Killing and is globally known as the subject matter expert on dealing with violence in a violent world. He has testified before congress, been an expert witness in high profile cases like the Timothy McVeigh trial and has trained countless mental health, law enforcement, and military professionals globally. He has advised presidents on topics revolving around violent video games and media and is also, and most importantly, a man of God. His book On Spiritual Combat provides insight into the spiritual war raging around us all the time, and how we can equip ourselves through the word to fight this battle as warriors in Christ.

Chauncey also highlights how the Jim Crow Republican Party's neofascist assault on multiracial democracy and freedom continues to escalate – this time by making it “legal” for their followers to use vehicles as weapons against Black Lives Matter, anti-fascists, and other pro-democracy forces.
Living in a time with great unrest, we all need to examine our ability to survive. Whether it be a natural disaster, a violent encounter, or a silent attack like sleep deprivation, post traumatic stress, or the guilt and shame of our past we all need to take inventory as to the skills and knowledge we have to press on during difficult times. My guest today, is (Ret.) Lt. Col. Dave Grossman who has spent his life preparing for the unknown. He served in the military for 24 years as an Army Ranger, and Paratrooper. Additionally, he was a professor of psychology at West Point. He has been retired for almost as long as he was in the military and still travels the majority of the year training military and law enforcement personnel. Lt. Col. Grossman studied the psychology of killing and combat and wanted to better understand the topic and educate warriors about what to expect when involved in violent encounters like war and protecting the communities of this Nation. He is the author of On Killing, On Combat, Assassination Generation, and the children's book, Sheepdogs: Meet our Nations Warriors. Lt. Col. Grossman is a man of faith, and two of his more recent books, On Spiritual Combat and Bulletproof Marriage address matters or faith and spirituality. The conversation covers a number of topics to include, increasing murder rates, the conditioning of violence in children, becoming a sheepdog, hope for those dealing with trauma, and the epidemic of sleep deprivation.Killology Website Lt. TWJ welcomes back Lt. Col. David Grossman (US Army, Ret.) for the second half of conversation that speaks to his experiences, and equips people to deal with a serious issue, which may surprise some: sleep deprivation. When studied carefully, this issue is actually revealed to be a deadly epidemic gripping our world – and specifically our military – today. Lt. Col. David Grossman (US Army, Ret.) is an author and law enforcement trainer who has specialized in the study of the psychology of killing on the human psyche. Since 1998, he has been on the road almost 300 days a year, as one of our nation's leading trainers for military, law enforcement, mental health providers, and school safety organizations. Following his retirement from the Army, Grossman founded the Killology Research Group to educate law enforcement officers and soldiers how to improve outcomes in lethal encounters. Grossman is best known for his police training program, based on the self-coined study of "killology", which aims to reduce officers' psychological inhibition to kill suspects. His widely acclaimed books, such as On Killing and On Combat, as well as his brand new book, On Spiritual Combat: 30 Missions for Victorious Warfare, are available now on Amazon. Joe Biden made the statement recently that Law Enforcement Officers should deescalate situations by shooting people in the leg. Do you agree? Should Police officers train to shoot people in the leg? It's a fair question. In this episode of the Livingston Parish Thread, I discuss some of my thoughts and I refer to Lt. Col. Dave Grossman and Loren W. Christensen's book “On Combat.” – The Psychology and Physiology of Deadly Conflict in War and Peace. Grossman is a former Army Ranger, Paratrooper, West Point Psychology Professor and author of the classic book, On Killing. Grossman is currently the Director of Killology Research Group and one of the world's foremost experts in the field of human aggression and the psychology of combat.

Lt Col Grossman I was so pumped to interview Lt Col Dave Grossman as I've been following his work for years. As a new officer and after a major incident, it was suggested to me to read his work On Combat. It was the first book I had ever read that talked about phenomenons such as PTSD, stress, combat breathing, auditory exclusion, and much more. Public Safety Professionals are killing themselves more than the people they encounter daily in their profession. As a Public Safety Professional this is devastating and unacceptable. The problem is Public Safety Professionals do not get a lot of training when it comes to dealing with social emotional issues. As a Police Officer, I learned to shoot, drive, fight, enforce laws and protect citizens but I never learned about the social emotional impact trauma has on my family and I over my career. When I discovered trauma informed care and applied it to my job and my personal life, I realized this training is needed across our industry.I found the right partnerships and created Going Beyond The Call Mental Health Fitness for Public Safety Professionals. I want to reduce Public Safety suicides dramatically over the next 5 years. Lt. Colonel David Grossman wrote the foreword for our book and had this to say: "One of the most important books (and programs) of our time. A hidden impact, a stigmatized secret that overshadows the men and women who sacrifice every day. With this training and these tactics for wellness, we can stop the tragic statistics to these professions. Going Beyond the Call is an action plan for the magnificent individuals who “go beyond the call” every day, and for our very civilization, to survive and thrive amid death and darkness. We must begin a process, a movement, a revolution, a culture shift in training in which every first responder is well equipped with the information in this vital book and training."By: Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, author, On Killing, On Combat, & Assassination Generation This program is designed to help Public Safety Organizations:*Bridge gaps in the communities they serve*Reduce liability and lower the bottom line *Create a higher quality of life mentally, physically, and physiologically professionally and personally. * Save First Responders Lives
Lt. Col. Dave Grossman is a retired military psychology teacher who wrote the books On Combat and On Killing. They were some of the first attempts to help people understand the psychological experience of killing from the perspective the armed forces and survival-oriented crowds, but because they were such early works some of the theories don't hold up long-term. We discuss these issues and how the tactical telephone game and caricature views of violence through things like Sheep, Wolves, and Sheepdogs can be problematic. Like what we’re doing? This is the first of two pods I've recorded with Lt. Col. Dave Grossman - a former US Army Ranger, paratrooper, and Psychology Professor. He is the author of On Combat: The Psychology and Physiology of Deadly Conflict in War and in Peace; a book that describes coping strategies for the physiological and psychological effects of violence for people forced to kill in their line of work. On Combat has become a popular book in the Emergency Medicine community. It turns out there are plenty of parallels between the sharp-end of healthcare and the battlefield. This podcast put On Combat on the EM map. This is my talk titled My Mental Toughness Manifesto which On Combat had a huge influence on. In this first episode we discuss the relationship between physiological arousal and performance, and the concept of stress inoculation. Enjoy! Robbie Ponder_Med

In this bonus episode of The Statist Quo, our friend Pat from Uncensored Tactical returns to talk with Matt about two books that contain a ton of value, especially for vets, but great for anyone interested in self-defense. They are On Killing and On Combat, both by Army Lt. Col. Dave Grossman (Ret.). ;)In these books, Grossman shares research he had conducted with law enforcement and military veterans who had been in deadly force encounters. On Killing is great for some of the rarely discussed dark sides of combat, but the belle of the ball here is On Combat, a great guide to the psychological and physiological processes that happen when human beings find themselves in life-or-death situations involving violence.Shockingly (or not), the VAST majority of content in this book is mentioned rarely, if at all, by the military, at least not in an official capacity. Which is why we both strongly recommend reading at least On Combat for those who are or have been in combat arms or law enforcement. Thanks for listening! Go check out Pat at www.uncensoredtactical.com!

Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and renown author Dave Grossman essentially created the field of killology. His books On Killing and On Combat have made an entire generation of military, law enforcement, and first responders more ready for the stressful, sometimes violent situations they face. Long after his active duty career, Dave has continued to teach the stress-response techniques outlined in his books, traveling to hundreds of bases, posts, and precincts over the years. In this episode, you discover what happens in the body during combat. Visual distortion, auditory exclusion, memory distortion, vasoconstriction, and loss of bladder control are all physiological effects that Soldiers and law enforcement personnel experience in extreme stress but rarely prepare for. Dave Grossman's books and instruction prepare combatants and protectors for the challenge of face-to-face violent stress and infuse confidence in those who have never experienced it before. If you have a team who might face violent stress one day, they need to hear this conversation. Personally, I can tell you that reading On Killing and On Combat made me more prepared for my own combat experience. I invite you to do the same. Read more about Dave Grossman's work at Killology Research Group and check out his books On Killing: The Psychological Cost of Learning to Kill in War and Society and On Combat, The Psychology and Physiology of Deadly Conflict in War and in Peace.
