In episode 210, Cathy Smith welcomes Jackson Millian from Aureus Financial. Their discussion aims to delve deeper into the topic of future-proofing businesses, which began during the show's 200th episode. Jackson Millian shares his perspective on the evolving market conditions. He compares the current business environment to that of the late 1970s to early 1980s, mentioning that despite being born in 1989, he's acquainted with past trends, believing that if one fails to learn from history, they're bound to repeat it. Millian speaks on how the economic landscape has shifted. Over the past 15 years, since the global financial crisis, businesses have operated in relatively favourable conditions. However, the golden era is seemingly over. The current phase necessitates businesses to mature and evolve, emphasising the need to build a financial "moat" around them. Cathy and Jackson discuss the changing dynamics of the business world. They touch on how the internet made it much easier for individuals to start businesses, but also on the challenges that have arisen, especially in terms of finances and cyber issues. Millian introduces a framework he developed, the "profit pyramid." He believes that for a business to truly succeed, it requires three essential components: Millian introduces the "profit pyramid" framework, focusing on: Profitable positioning: Positioning businesses in a market to maximise perceived value. Pricing and packaging: Once a firm position is established, price becomes an outcome of effective value communication. Drawing from his experiences in Far North Queensland, Millian underscores the value of punctuality and clear communication in today's business world. Cathy agrees, noting that these fundamental principles elevate businesses in today's competitive landscape. In conclusion, businesses need to stay agile and prioritise their positioning and value proposition in the ever-evolving market. Daved Thomas lived a roller coaster life of drugs, partying, homelessness, street life, homosexuality and eventually prison. Following a suicide attempt in a prison cell, Daved heard the audible voice of God speak to him which began the work to change his life around. From that moment, Jesus began to restore what was lost and stolen from his life. Several setbacks and relapses later, he began to rebuild relationships, learn above true love, and begin preaching to the same communities that he was lost in. He has dedicated his life to serving in ministry, teaching, preaching and helping others get free from the life that shackled him. Daved chronicled his experiences in his book, "I Lived a Lie" and shares with us the writing process, the inspiration for the book, and the public reception. On this episode, you will hear an absolutely amazing story about overcoming the worst sins and the hardest situations, how to stop living the lie that the world tries to tell you, and how to become fully set free in Christ Jesus. Minister and teacher Jonathan Welton rose to prominence in the early 2010s, with the success of several books, TV appearances and from developing a popular ministry school, The Welton Academy. Despite explosive growth, lingering and unresolved emotional issues in the background and wounds from youth began bubbling up and cracks began to show. In a very public spectacle, Jonathan's personal life and ministry life reached a boiling point and ultimately led to an incredible crash! Jon joins us today to tell his side of the story about what transpired, how he conducted himself, and the fallout of his actions. We discuss the realization of, and recovery from, narcissistic tendencies and unresolved hurts and traumas. Jon explains the help provided by Pastor Danny Silk, men's improvement programs including The Bulletproof Husband, as well as personal faith strategies he uses to overcome the mess, and move forward. We discuss psychology of narcissism, spiritual bypassing, recovering from a crash in life, and how spiritual cleansing in our personal lives, the world and the church, are sometimes necessary to move forward into new things. Jon's story is a comeback story still in progress, and we hear where he is in this journey. BOOM GOES YESHUA! ★ Support this podcast ★

With Rethinking Comparison: Innovative Methods for Qualitative Political Inquiry (Cambridge University Press, 2021) Erica S. Simmons and Nicholas Rush Smith issue a call for qualitative political scientists to go beyond the controlled comparisons so dear to them, and rethink what it is that they compare and why. The call is both earnest and compelling. The book is persuasive not just in its efforts to show that the what and why of comparison ought not be limited to the “Millian paradigm”—even as its editors are at pains to express their appreciation for the paradigm's logics. Over twelve chapters, an impressive roll-call of contributors together explicate and demonstrate how the practice of comparison can be systematically broadened and creatively adapted to ensure qualitative political science's enduring relevance, even as its potential objects of inquiry proliferate and diversify. Chapters include one on two ways to compare by Frederic Schaffer, whose Elucidating Social Science Concepts featured on New Books in Interpretive Political and Social Science in 2020, and another by series host, Nick Cheesman. Other contributors include Jason Seawright, Joe Soss, and Thea Riofrancos, whose Resource Radicals received the Charles Taylor Book Award in 2021. The book closes via an epilogue with Lisa Wedeen, who spoke about her Authoritarian Apprehensions in an episode that year. Rethinking comparison is not without risk. But a political science without risk-takers would be an inert discipline. Fortunately, with the likes of Simmons and Smith exciting debate about what, why and how we compare, the discipline is sure to remain lively, and relevant. Nick Cheesman is associate professor in the Department of Political and Social Change, Australian National University. While we know that we have eternal life in Jesus, where does that leave us in this physical life? Are we meant to be subject to the rules and physics of a fallen, corrupted world, or do we have a special calling from Jesus to defeat death as He did? Michael C. King has released his new book, "The Gospel of Life and Immortality," where he takes the reader through a fairly logical progression explaining what the Gospel of Life and Immortality even is by looking at what Jesus taught on the subject, where we can find these truths in the Old Testament, Paul's teachings on the subject, and much more. We discuss the topics of healing, resurrection, translation, and immortal physical life, from an overhead view, and attempt to break down what it all means, if there is anything specific to it, and what it looks like to the everyday believer. We further unpack what this means for the current times we live in, how it affects the modern church, and what details and facts we may have overlooked all this time. Sharpen up the pitchforks, and join us for this often-taboo topic, that needs to be had in the body of Christ. Boom Goes Yeshua!!★ Support this podcast ★

The new Safemoon cryptocurrency is making tons of waves these days. Some info is good and some info is bad. What everyone seems to be overlooking is that fact, that human psychology plays a huge part in investing, and specifically the cryptocurrency market. FOMO and FUD rule the day unfortunately. On this episode, I provide to you my psychological analysis of the Safemoon community, the team and how you need to conduct yourself to be successful not only in this crypto space, but in life in general. Safemoon is risky, Crypto is risky, and in fact, this whole life is risky. Much like you, I am doing my best to check out of this Matrix, and be free from this madness in our world. Listen in to hear my take on the current projects, the best creators to follow, how to position yourself mentally, and what happens when and if Safemoon does indeed, reach the moon. Please direct conversation and messages to Telegram at MillianHQ and let's discuss. Thanks for checking this out, and enjoy the chat.
