Born in 1980, BNJMN already tape-recorded global music in the 90’s. By developing a special short-cut recording style with a simple tuner connected to a satellite dish and a manually controlled technics tape recorder, his first goals were mix-tapes filled with his favorite sounds creating patchworks or collages with advanced time-warping cutting methods. In 1999 at the age of nineteen a further quantum leap led to a professional mixing console which forced his mix-creations onto a new level. Leaving random music choices behind, the probability of controlling sounds infused by different styles surfaced right ahead. Practicing elegantly cross-fading pre listened sources enhanced playful new mix types. Transitions of multiple styles and a variety of sounds opened up a completely new universe. Soon electronically based music was focused. Since 2005 this project is called „at1st“. All mixes have been live recorded (real time production) with VirtualDJ. Franz Bush is a DJ and producer born in Italy and currently based in Milan. At first, he started out as a guitar player in rock bands while developing a prolific career as an event manager. His passion for techno and darkwave quickly turned into a big inspiration for his solo electronic productions, which combine strong dancefloor vibes with ethereal and nocturnal influences. Putting together his rock roots with his constantly evolving passion for everything electronic and analog, he played as resident DJ at Rocket in Milan and then at Dude Club, now he’s running his own label called DIE SEKTE, making label showcases, touring Italy and Europe and has just released his first Vinyl Ep with a Bnjmn Remix. He played with artists like Giorgio Gigli, Etapp Kyle, SHDW & Obscure Shape, Keith Carnal, James Ruskin, Jonas Kopp, Radio Slave, stranger, Reeko, Bnjmn, Kwartz, Svreca, Psyk. The UK-born but Berlin-based producer BNJMN (@bnjmnnn) releases his first album since seven years. Released under the famous Dutch label @DelsinRecords, the Hypnagogia LP is a ten-tracker that takes BNJMN towards more hypnotic and soothing soundscapes. Monument premieres the second part of the name track Hypnagogia from the album, that will be out on November 19th.

This week we're thrilled to bring you an incredible guest mix by Empasym, who brings an interesting new sound to The Goose Collective Podcast. Empasym approached the mix with a strict mandate of bringing a unique new experience to listeners by tailoring tracks from minor artists like Kaf and BNJMN and from side projects from better known artists. Despite being just four months old, the label has already achieved so much, including securing their latest release, The Pink Polo EP, a collaboration between sax-machine Masego and heavy hitting producer Medasin, for a premiere via Billboard. With a talented roster of almost twenty acts, each with their own following before the label existed, it's no wonder that bringing them all together under one house has resulted in a surge of popularity and recognition for both the artists and the label itself. I recently spoke with BNJMN (@kingbnjmn), MadBliss / Dan (@escents) and Medasin / Grant (@officialmedasin) about the label's origins along with their personal musical backgrounds, achievements and more. INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > inverted-audio.com/mix/bnjmn It's been five years since we last spoke to Ben Thomas about his music. In 2009 we featured an interview and mix from his Singing Statues alias, an altogether more experimental guitar based project. Since then Ben has released two albums and a string of EP's on the much-feted Dutch house imprint Rush Hour, certainly a fitting home for BNJMN music, the theme here being analogue-sounding, unabashedly synth-driven dancefloor warmth. In the interview on Inverted Audio Ben discusses forthcoming EP's plus a collaboration album under the BNJMN name coming out later this year. We also asked Ben to create an all out experimental mix for us. His mix features music from Paul McCartney, Lukid, Legowelt, Kassem Mosse and many more.
