In this episode, we welcome Ben Stuart back to the show. He is a pastor and author. He serves as the lead pastor of Passion City Church, Washington D.C. Prior to joining Passion City Church, Ben served as the executive director of Breakaway Ministries on the campus of Texas A&M. Ben earned a master's degree in historical theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. In this interview, we discuss the challenges in leading a church in Washington D.C., what he learned about young men once he moved to D.C., how to spread the Gospel in a city obsessed with power and control, how he makes sure his church is “man-friendly”, how he personally avoids the temptations that come with being a well-known pastor, why the rumors of “the death of marriage” have been greatly exaggerated, why we should put God first in all of our relationships, what advice he has for people that are dating (since the Bible does not explicitly address it), what he would say to people that feel “hurt” by so-called “Purity Culture”, what we get wrong about sex, and much more. Let's get into it… Episode notes and links HERE. Donate to support our mission of equipping men to push back darkness. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We've heard it on the news and seen it in the research: American Christianity is declining. Younger generations aren't interested in organized religion. Young families aren't raising their children with a Biblical foundation. That's what we're told, but what is really happening? Today's guest has an on-the-ground perspective of how hungry the next generation is for meaningful connection and deeper roots to something powerful.Brian McCormack is the Executive Director of Breakaway Ministries, a non-denominational Bible study that reaches tens of thousands of students at Texas A&M University. Brian has served in ministry with his wife Emilie for 17 years. He has worked in student ministry, planted a church in Seattle, and served as a lead pastor, and along the way found time to earn a doctorate from Duke Divinity School and raise 5 kids with Emilie. Vision & Engagement. Two words that are discussed in board rooms across the country. Driving any organization requires both, and are the key catalysts Gregg Matte uses to lead one of the largest and fastest-growing church organizations in the country. He challenges those who choose to follow to look at their role at work and home through the eyes of being a Difference Maker, which is the title of his must-read book. As the senior pastor of Houston's First Baptist Church, under his leadership, this historic church founded in 1841 has moved to the cutting edge of ministry and experienced tremendous growth. Before coming to Houston in 2004, Gregg founded Breakaway Ministries at Texas A&M University starting with 12 participants in his apartment, and grew to a weekly gathering of more than 4,000 students each Tuesday night under his leadership. Along with Difference Makers (2019), Gregg is the author of Finding God's Will (2010), I AM Changes Who i Am (2012), Unstoppable Gospel (2015).

“Christian hypocrisy is maximized when the resurrection of Jesus is minimized.” — What if the greatest barrier to Christianity is Christians? Kicking off our new series, “Trust Issues,” our friend Timothy Ateek from Breakaway Ministries joins us this week to talk about what happens when Christians become calloused to the beautiful reality of the resurrection of Jesus. Timothy Ateek reminds us that the resurrection gives us freedom from the past, power in the present, and hope for the future!
Our guest today, Ben Stuart, brings us some rich wisdom on the topic of discernment and we NEEDED IT! We are always looking for new amazing books to read on dating and someone earlier this year recommended the book Single.Dating.Engaged.Married. Kait read it and loved it so much that she knew she had to find a way to get Ben on the podcast. Ben Stuart is not only an author but also the pastor of Passion City Church, in Washington D.C. He has a LOT to say about dating and this entire process and trust us when we say, it is SO good! Prior to joining Passion City Church, Ben served for 11 years as the executive director of Breakaway Ministries, a weekly Bible study attended by thousands of college students at Texas A&M. Him and and his wife, Donna, live to inspire and equip people to walk with God for a lifetime… and they also have one heck of an incredible dating story. Overall themes: -What is the evaluation process of dating? -How do you KNOW that you KNOW if this person is for you or not? -What if you fight a lot, how do you discern what is okay? -What if you are really not sure, what should you do to work through that? Kait and Ben talk about it ALL. This episode is essential so get your mind ready to hear and take in the wisdom of Ben’s advice. Also! Friends! make sure to keep up with us and join our family on Instagram by following us at @heartofdating. We’d love to have you share this episode with your friends so we can continue spreading the dating wealth! So thankful for you all.
Struggle! Why do we struggle? What should we do when we struggle? Using Hebrews 12, Ben Stuart of Breakaway Ministries challenges the mindset of men to reconsider the why and the what of struggle.
