For the first time since 2014, the USMNT is back in the World Cup. Yes, qualifying was hairy and weird. Yes, we're terrified of how this is going to go. But the US has one of the best groups of talent ever assembled. That should matter, right? RIGHT??? On this episode of the podcast, Jonathan "T-Bone" Smith and Brandon Beam are joined by giant soccer fan and host of "Mad About Hoops" (a college basketball podcast) Colin Barringer to break down what the US can do in this World Cup. Discussion ranged from figuring out who the best pieces are for the US, Gregg Berhalter's tactics, what chances the US has against Iran, Wales, and England, and much more. Listen and enjoy this final look at the USMNT before the whistle blows in Qatar! And make sure you subscribe to this podcast if you enjoy what you hear! Frances Tiafoe and Felix Auger-Aliassime picked up pivotal wins to secure the title for Team World for the first time in five attempts! The match everyone was anticipating was the Friday night doubles with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal taking on Tiafoe and Jack Sock. The Americans got the win for Team World and Tiafoe was subjected to racist abuse on social media afterwards which was completely out of line! On the Sunday, Auger-Aliassime dispatched the Novak Djokovic in straight sets to put Team World in a winning position and just one match victory away from winning the Laver Cup for the first time. Enter man of the moment, Big Foe who lost the first set to Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-1 but rallied back in now typical fashion, taking the second-set tiebreak and closed out the decider to secure the title and his second win over the Greek in a row (third overall). "Greek Yoghurt" controversy… people were losing it on social media and criticising Team World's behaviour during the Tiafoe-Tsitsipas match. Mic's picked up Tiafoe, surrounded by Americans on the bench, saying he wants “that Greek yoghurt”. Other bits… Davis Cup – Ymer brothers picked some good wins for Sweden – Mikael beat Italy's Jannik Sinner and Diego Schwartzman of Argentina. Elias picked up an impressive win over Argentine Sebastian Baez. FAA also beat Spain's Carlos Alcaraz and Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic to secure Canada's place in the Finals. Gabriel Diallo (confident his Dad is from Senegal or Guinea TBC), a 20-year-old Kentucky Wildcats senior, also made his debut for the Canadians. WTA – Naomi Osaka withdrew from her second round match in Tokyo due to illness. Not sure if she will play again this season. Don't forget to subscribe and share your comments.

In this episode I recap the Laver Cup, which was kind of a disappointing event this year due to the lopsided competition. All European players are in the top 10, and not one world player is in the top 10. I also touch on a MASSIVE topic that came to into the spotlight during the event, and move on to the ATP 250 in San Diego. With Team Europe making Team World Its... you know what... for the fourth time, is a format shake up in store for 2022? The guys discuss Mary Carillo's decision to step away from presenting at the Laver Cup for fear of being complicit in not giving voice to the assault allegations that continue to follow Sascha Zverev. The always dangerous Kontaveit takes out Sakkari for her 2nd title in 2021, while Hurkacz wins his third title of the year in Metz. Watch out for Kwon Soonwoo, the Korean player who secured his first title for a player from that country in 18 years... the guys pick him as one to watch.

Tonight, Steve and I recap Team Europe's domination of the 2021 Laver Cup. Even without Roger, Rafa and Novak, Team Europe's lineup was loaded with six of the top ten best players in the world. And Team Europe sure played up to its potential as they routed Team World in this year's competition. As we say in this episode, the Laver Cup served boring this year. Nevertheless, we're here to recap the important parts of some of the best ATP and WTA action last week, as well as a few key moments from the Team Europe vs. Team World showdown (blowout): Annett's title roll, Sakkari's top ten debut, Hubi grabbing two trophies in Moselle, Kwon making history for South Korea, and key reflections on Opelka's comment about Zverev and the Laver Cup ignoring the Zverev allegations. We also discuss Hot Headlines, including Federer's recovery and recent comments on social media and pressure put on players like Raducanu and Osaka, as well as recent coaching splits on the WTA tour. The Laver Cup may have been lamer this year, but that doesn't mean that the two of us don't make the best of our chat in this episode.
