Izstāde tapusi plašā starptautiskā sadarbībā — darbi un priekšmeti deponēti no muzejiem Nīderlandē, Ukrainā un Lietuvā. Viens no nozīmīgākajiem eksponātiem ir glezna no Jana Brēgela Vecākā darbnīcas, kurā attēlota bagātīga ziedu kompozīcija ar simtiem precīzi izgleznotu augu. Šādi darbi savulaik simbolizēja ne vien bagātību un izsmalcinātību, bet arī mākslinieka centienus atainot dabas daudzveidību un skaistumu. Lai izstādi padarītu saistošu dažādām paaudzēm, tajā iekļauti arī interaktīvi elementi. This season, she was a key contributor for the Bruins on vault, bars, and floor, posting career highs of 9.975 on vault, 9.925 on bars and 9.95 on floor. She was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week three times and was also a Big Ten Co-Event Specialist of the Week. Speaking from the foothills outside San Diego, Laura reflects on beginning her first book at sixty eight, transforming decades of journals and memories into a deeply personal memoir about closed adoption in the nineteen sixties. She describes teaching herself to write a book draft by draft, learning to trust editors, and slowly finding the courage to tell a story she had been told to bury.Laura shares how writing moved her from isolation to community. After a career in real estate and title insurance, she discovered that writers form a different kind of tribe, one built on shared obsession, vulnerability, and encouragement. She urges aspiring authors of any age to never give up, to seek out classes and critique groups, and to write even if publication is not the goal. For Laura, the act of putting words on the page became both a craft and a lifeline.At the heart of the episode is the story behind her memoir, You'll Forget This Ever Happened. As a seventeen year old in nineteen sixty seven, Laura was sent to an unwed mothers home in New Orleans, pressured into a closed adoption, and shamed into silence for decades. She recalls the lasting trauma of leaving her newborn son behind, the small act of defiance in pocketing his birth card, and the way that secret shaped her sense of self, her health, and her relationships. For fifty years, she carried that grief alone, hiding it from her children and most of the people closest to her.Everything changed when her firstborn son found her through DNA testing, just as she had retired and begun taking creative writing classes. The reunion, which she describes as both miraculous and exhausting, brought overwhelming joy, new grandchildren, and a longed for chance to be authentic about her past. In her freshman year, she competed on vault in all but one meet, notching a season-best 9.85 in her very first collegiate appearance. This week's guests are sisters Morgan Price and Frankie Price.Morgan Price spent the first three seasons of her college career at Fisk University, competing for the first HBCU gymnastics team. She won six WCGNIC national titles and became the first HBCU gymnast to score a 10.0, earning the mark on uneven bars during her junior season. Now a senior at the University of Arkansas, she recently made history again as the first Razorback gymnast to score a 10.0 on vault.She is closing out her career alongside her sister, Frankie, a mainstay in Arkansas' vault and floor lineups. Frankie owns career highs of 9.9 on vault and 9.975 on floor — the latter matching the program record. This week, we're excited to be joined by Theresa Kulikowski-Gillespie, a 1995 Team World bronze medalist and Olympic alternate for the gold-medal-winning 1996 U.S. women's gymnastics team. Theresa competed collegiately at the University of Utah, where she was a 14-time All-American and won three individual NCAA titles — including the all-around and balance beam as a freshman in 1999.Following her gymnastics career, Theresa served as a physician assistant in the U.S. Army from 2009 to 2012, including a deployment to Iraq from 2010 to 2011. Today, she runs My Mindful Medicine, where she helps people heal and become the best version of themselves through guided meditation, support groups, and one-on-one mindfulness sessions.In 2024, Theresa published Beyond the Chalk Box, a book that explores the challenges and triumphs of former elite gymnasts through their own stories and reflections. We loved reading it and are excited to have Theresa on the show to dive deeper into the book. We've got another new face on the show, and we're very excited about this one — Ashley Johnston, who is entering her fourth season as head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide.Ashley was an incredible athlete in her own right before becoming a coach. She was a 10-time All-American during her career at Alabama and helped lead the Tide to two SEC titles and two NCAA championships. As promised, we're back with another Coaches Corner interview as we kick off the road to the 2026 NCAA season.We're excited to welcome a new face to the show — Washington head coach Jessa Hansen Parker — as she joins us to preview what's ahead for the Huskies. Jessa enters her second year at the helm of Washington, which also marks the program's second season competing in the Big Ten.Last year gave Husky fans plenty to celebrate: the program recorded its second-highest attendance in history, four GymDawgs qualified to regionals as individuals, and Mary McDonough earned a spot at the NCAA Championships for the second straight season. We're so excited about this week's Coaches Corner interview with none other than Jordyn Wieber, now in her sixth season as head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks! Even with some key injuries last season, the Razorbacks still put together a strong run. Remember, they upset both LSU and Florida when those teams were ranked No. 2 in the nation! While the end of the season didn't go quite as planned — missing out on SEC Championships and not qualifying for NCAAs as a team — we think that's just going to light a fire under them heading into this year.Expect the Razorbacks to bring the heat in 2026. Today's guest is someone who has already made history for her team — and she's only a sophomore. We're talking about the one and only Chloe Cho! Chloe earned four Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors, the most in program history for Illinois. She also took home the Big Ten Freshman of the Year award at the end of the season, becoming only the third gymnast in program history to achieve that honor. With her sophomore season on the horizon, Chloe has only scratched the surface of what she's capable of accomplishing.
