Forty years ago this past week, Americans watched in horror as the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded on live television just 73 seconds after liftoff, killing all seven crew members. An investigation later found that during the coldest-ever shuttle launch, a failure in the O-ring seals—caused in part by the weather—led to the disaster. Hours after the tragedy, President Reagan addressed the nation, calling the crew heroes and vowing that the disaster would not end America's space program. Earlier this week, retired NASA astronauts Bonnie Dunbar and Clayton Anderson joined FOX News Rundown host Dave Anthony to reflect on the lives of the seven heroes lost, the evolution of safety protocols following the investigation, and the unwavering spirit of discovery required to reach for the Moon and Mars. We often must cut interviews short during the week, but we thought you might like to hear the full conversation. Today on The FOX News Rundown Extra, we share our entire interview with retired NASA astronauts Bonnie Dunbar and Clayton Anderson. Learn more about your ad choices. In this landmark 100th episode of Mind Yo' Life, recorded inside Morgenstern's Bookstore Podcast Studio, Andrew celebrates the close of Season 8 with a guest who embodies the Midwestern hustle, heart, and humor that define the show—Clayton Anderson, a Bedford, Indiana native turned rising star in country music. Clayton shares the story of his climb—from playing local events and pouring sweat into bar gigs, to eventually making it to Nashville, where he caught a career-changing break by winning Kenny Chesney's "Next Big Star" competition in Cincinnati. That victory landed him the opportunity to open for Chesney, and set him on a path toward national recognition. In this episode, Clayton talks candidly about the music business, brushes with superstardom (including almost being signed by Justin Timberlake and meeting Garth Brooks), and the relentless grind it takes to build a name. Things get lighthearted too, with a laugh-out-loud discussion about the viral internet theory that Garth Brooks is secretly a serial killer—a wild idea born from comedian Tom Segura's ongoing bit that has taken on a life of its own. We also explores Clayton's newest venture: opening his own country music bar in Indianapolis, creating a space where live music, local culture, and cold drinks come together. Packed with laughs, life lessons, and the spirit of someone who's never stopped chasing the next stage, this episode is the perfect way to close out a season—and a reminder that big dreams really do start in small towns. It can be scary to wake up every day not knowing whether or not the hard work you're putting in will ever pay off… it's a story Clayton Anderson knows all too well after chasing his dream in Nashville for over a decade. In this conversation, Clayton shares insight into the ups and downs of his artist career (including physically watching a decision-maker pull his demo CD out of the trash), the fun and innovative way he was still able to pivot and perform during the early pandemic, what he wishes he would have known when moving to town about how the songwriter circuit in Nashville works, the exciting tipping point that is finally making it start to feel like it's all been worth it… and so much more! Clayton Anderson grew up on the lakes of Southern Indiana and set off on a music career, building a grassroots following playing the frat circuit at Indiana University (go Hoosiers!). In 2008, he won Kenny Chesney's Next Big Star battle of the bands. He has performed alongside the Zac Brown Band at the Indy 500 and has opened for Eric Church, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Jimmy Buffett, Thomas Rhett, Lee Brice, and Carly Pearce. During the COVID lockdown, he performed on the Bud Light Dive Bar Tour: Home Edition alongside Jake Owen, Dierks Bentley, OneRepublic, and more before teaming with sponsors for socially-distanced Lake Tour concerts. In 2022, Anderson has released and landed high-profile placements for a string of singles including “Nothin' But Net” (as heard on ESPN for Men's College Basketball Season), “Get After It” (Ford's Spring Truck Month Campaign and ESPN Men's Baseball Season), and “Show Me Your Fish” (Major League Fishing's REDCREST 2022); hit the road for another summer tour; and in September released Made In The USA, his most introspective album yet.CONNECT FURTHER WITH GUEST:WEBSITE: https://www.claytonandersonofficial.com NEW ALBUM (Made In The USA): https://claytonanderson.ffm.to/mitusaa.OWE IG: https://www.instagram.com/claytonanderson TIKTOK: https://www.tiktok.com/@claytonandersonmusic SPOTIFY: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3jYolGVCwXgJYEr3GL8FCb SONG MENTIONED (“Is It Too Late”): https://open.spotify.com/track/5jY80YMgAXAGkeYWtcUcHx?si=d5c82d8404c045e6 CONNECT FURTHER WITH ANGIE:Podcast: https://www.yougetwhatimsaying.com Listen Early and Dynamic Ad-Free on Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/44Y6rbYSocial Media: https://beacons.ai/theactualangie/socialmedia Contact: yougetwhatimsaying.podcast@gmail.com Monetize Your Podcast: https://beacons.ai/theactualangie/monetizeSupport the Show: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/yougetit/membershipADVERTISE ON THE SHOW: To inquire about host-read ads or to become the show's next Presenting Sponsor, please send an email to yougetwhatimsaying.podcast@gmail.com.EPISODE CREDITS:Podcast Logo: Abby MurdockPodcast Cover Photography: April Bowers CreativeBE ADVISED:Formerly titled Podfluencer Society (for before that, 4 Things For Your Podcast), episodes 1-114 share insights and strategies specifically for podcasters.
