They are requesting that people inspect their real Christmas trees for these invasive insects. The lantern fly can cause significant damage to plants and trees, so it's crucial to inspect your tree before bringing it indoors.   BEER SPA BierBath is set to open in Sykesville, Maryland on December 9th. The spa features hot baths infused with hops and barley that are said to provide detoxifying benefits. After relaxing, guests can continue on to enjoy a taproom featuring 30 different beers. UGLY CHRISTMAS TREE TREND The Ugly Christmas Sweater has taken on a whole new look. Ugly Christmas Trees are trending in 2023. According to CBC News, people are adorning their trees with pom poms and feathers while others are opting for a Christmas Cactus or buying an ugly Christmas tree from sites like Amazon that resembles the one in the Charlie Brown cartoon. A 15 inch Redneck Christmas Tree is selling on Amazon for $15. It's nothing more than a toilet plunger with several Evergreen branches and on red ornament. The description reads: “Toilet plunger base with wooden handle makes a great holiday gag. Can be decorated with ornaments or left bare. Decoration only - plunger not designed for actual use. HOW TO TALK HUNTING WITH NON-HUNTERS From time to time we are all challenged with how to go about visiting with people that are not hunters. At times, with both sides of the fence passionate about their feelings, a heated discussion can result. But it does not have to. When sharing why you hunt with a non-hunter it is important to have patience and respect. Tigger & BEC often use the discussion as a reason to talk about wildlife conservation. How there is importance to find balance in nature. Cities are growing meaning that areas for wildlife to roam are smaller and smaller. If populations of wildlife are not managed then circumstances of disease can result. Having a calm conversation and allowing both sides to share their feelings without judgment goes a long way. Make the discussion a safe place to share, and then use it as a moment to educate. Practice patience and respect will go a long way and are more likely to have a positive conversation.   HOLIDAY LOCATION & GIFT TURNED INTO A TRIP Dollars are tight this time of year for everyone plus there is the stress too of hosting or arranging travel to have everyone home in time. Instead of gifts, book a Christmas getaway that is not as far away for everyone! Consider looking at the map and picking a central location for all to travel to that might be easier than everyone coming “Home”. For example, say Mom & Dad live in North Dakota but members of your family now live in places like Nebraska. Meet in the middle, and turn the holiday into a memorable trip! A location for that might be the Black Hills in South Dakota.     Search an area on the map that is between everyone, then search that area for a vacation home rental. There are places like AirBnB or VRBO as well as an assortment of other reputable vacation home rental places that will offer great alternatives. Eliminate the stress of cleaning and preparing your home, and treat everyone to an affordable getaway that is the gift. Episode 146 Details   Unsuccessful big game hunting lottery draws again for us, Tigger & BEC. As luck would have it for the second year in a row, neither of us will be Antelope hunting in 2023. Just scouting and hunting with the camera. Big Game Hunting is about to get underway. Depending on your state. For example, if in the eastern part of the country where whitetail may be more plentiful such as Missouri. Units, tags, there may be no reason to apply and just buy over the counter. However big game the further west you travel, often the more tricky it becomes. Every state regardless of its Big Game population varies on regulations and these change from year to year. A lottery just to simplify further is as it sounds. Say for example in a particular unit there are 100 resident bull elk tags offered and a thousand resident hunters apply. The success of drawing a tag is 10 percent.  Some states in an attempt to even up the lottery may offer “Bonus Points” or “Preference Points”. Now our explanation is just a general explanation. Again EVERY STATE IS DIFFERENT so this is just an attempt to simplify understanding the basics. If you were unsuccessful in winning a lottery tag then next year at application time you would get your name entered in with your current application and then again as many times as you've earned “Points” for past attempts at winning at tag. This can be done for a multitude of species and for both residents and non-residents. Again, all rules, laws, and regulations are dependent upon the state.      OUTDOORS & WESTERN LIFESTYLE NEWS HEADLINES MISSED: PHONES & BATHROOMS, WHY THEY DO NOT MIX According to Saama TV, doctors are warning people not to use their phones while sitting on the toilet. YouGov revealed in a recent study that 57% of people while sitting on the toilet, use their phone. How does the medical field feel about phone usage while on the toilet?  Doctors are not in favor of using your phone while on the toilet, and it's not totally for the reasons you make think… meaning unsanitary. The warning is that long periods of time on the phone while sitting on the toilet can lead to painful and enormous hemorrhoids due to the straining and pressure. Not a fun topic or picture to think of while we bring this up, but there ya have it. Keep those phones for calling/texting family and friends and snapping those memorable moments… and OUT of the bathroom! WATCH YOUR STEP   There have been recent headlines coming out of Kansas already warning of Tarantula Season is almost upon us in September. I had never heard of this or REALIZED that tarantula's where common in Kansas and Colorado. According to KAKE News, these tarantula spiders can be so thick along roadways and highways near Medicine Lodge in September on can actually hear their body crunching under tires!! They have become worse at bothering the dogs, especially flies chewing on the dogs' ears. Then also the horses seem to have no relief and now are covered with fly eggs. This spurred BEC into researching alternative uses for fly control. A popular one that we were familiar with, and already use, is garlic in our supplements for cattle. With that in mind, BEC learned about using 'garlic for horses'. That then led to the question, 'Can garlic be used for dogs?' Tigger took the reins and contacted veterinarian, Dr. Margo Kunz from Missouri Valley Vet for the answers. Happy we asked! We learned garlic is NOT for dogs, and to not worry about the yellow fly eggs on the horses either as those will fall off. Hear this GREAT interview! The crew did exercise in a pool. This really makes you face reality when you are in a swimsuit in front of a mirror. This just in: Coach Jim, complains that exercise is hard... (shocking) One theme that always comes out in the biggest loser is you end up doing more than they think they can. Terri fought hard for the red team during an endurance challenge, but it was Micah the mountain that won it for the blue team. In the "head" part of the show (MIND) they talk about soda and giving up soda (I had a one thousand calories a DAY mountain dew habit). Then Micah explains that he drinks every day. This makes him feel bad, which make him turn (again) to alcohol. If you find yourself in this pattern be careful. Nobody wakes up and says, "I'm going to become an alcoholic today." It creeps up over time. Getting Rid of soda Kim and Katrina have created quite a bond together (you'll remember Katrina's Mom took her to Jenny Craig when she was little so she doesn't have a great relationship with her Mom). During exercising Kim thought, "I was going to die" but Steve pointed out, "You didn't." Corey's boss saw the impact podcasting creates and talked Corey into starting a podcast for his job. Corey's podcast helps high school students with special needs transition into the workplace. It went over well. It lead to him starting Next Up (His own business) Here are some key points: They tried it to see if it would work. They got feedback from their audience, and listened to it, and acted on it. They updated their equipment after they proved the concept. Corey's goal is to help as many students as possible. His niche (students with special needs) is often overlooked, or has no budget. So he created the content that was needed. One night it was speaking with his brother in law (who is well versed in running a business) and they realized that he could reach more students and have a larger impact if he did this on his own, and start his own company. So Corey: Used his brother as a resource to launch the business Converted his current employer into his first customer Used his mother (an accountant) to help with taxes Growing His Business Corey found that educators are not used to being "pitched." The tried and true strategies of mass emails, cold calling, etc were not going to work. So he did what any good podcaster would do: He went to where his audience was. He started attending events where he could talk face to face about his products and services. I want to thank Ray Ortega for alerting me to a post from Seth Godin that sates, “There’s no such thing as a niche that’s too small if the people care enough. If you think you need a bigger market, you’re actually saying that the market you already have doesn’t need you/depend on you/talk about you enough.You might not need a bigger niche. You might only need to produce more value for those you already serve.” With people choosing the following podcasts over all others, one can assume they are delivering tons of value. My Favorite Podcast Is Nick Seuberling from "Inside the Jungle" who love the 606 Podcast. Its information he can't get in the US. Ben From Modern Self Protection loves the Survival Podcast podcast because its energy, and inspiring. Bill from the Media Fiasco  I would definitely pick the Mike O’Meara Show,  it always puts a smile on his face. Cain from the Adventure Frequency podcast Adam Carolla show consistent, funny. Daniel J. Lewis from the Audacity to Podcast and My Podcast Reviews likes the Business of Marriage because the topics fits Daniel like a glove. Dr. Dave from Shrink Wrap Radio Psychology Podcast loves Mac Break Weekly to get up to date tips and news from experts. Al from Whats Up On Earth loves the Podcast because its funny, and appealing and keeps him up on pop culture. Erik from Podcast Talent Coach loves the Solopreneur Hour for their unique interviews that aren't like everybody else. Fred from Skills in Screencasts and Podcast still loves the No Agenda show for its behind the scenes look at the Media James loves the PFW in Progress is where James gets in depth information about New England Patriots football. Jennifer from the Delightful Life podcast loves Live Your List Show because the hosts are entertaining, and its inspires you to be a better person. John from  Writers Authors on Fire from Loves Entrepreneur on Fire because it keeps him positive and motivated. Johnathon loves the Moment with Brian Koppelman. He loves in the in depth interviews that make him think. Ken Casler of the Thinking Outside The Box podcast loves the Spark podcast. It entertains him and keeps him up on technology and he loves the hosts voice. Kim from On the Table podcast loves Get it Done Guy (she also loves Starve the Doubts) for the entertaining stories. Matt McWilliams from the World Changers Show loves Ray Edwards because its unique slant on business, faith, productivity, and family. Randy Cantrell of Leaning Towards Wisdom loves Serial for the excellently produced masterful story telling. (recently parodied on Saturday Night Live) Remi from the Sci-fi Movie Podcast loves the hosts from Bald Move Network who talk about numerous topics, and he follows their shows. They are fun, honest, and objective. Rick from the Evolution Talk podcast loves Mysterious Universe podcast (he pays for their premium content) it allows him to escape and relax. Scott from Karate Tournament Tips and Tricks loves The Unexplained with Howard Hughes its really interesting without being over the top. Scott from Computer Tutor Podcast loves Dave Ramsey because he knows what he is going to get, and yet you never know what you're going to get. It's entertaining. Stargate from the Legends of Shield podcast loves the Star Wars Minute for the behind the scenes, entertaining stories, Terry from Discovering America loves the Jefferson Hour  Summary As I listened to theses clips, I listened and made notes. When I put it all together, here is how it broke down. These are the qualities that people mentioned most. These numbers indicate (according to the 50ish people who replied) how important the following topics are. If you combined funny and entertaining, that would be 47% (for me if I'm laughing I'm entertained). That would mean 49% Value (things I can use, easy to understand)47% Entertaining/Funny 32% Personality (objective, chemistry, authentic, objective)32% "Deep Dive" (in depth information)15% Behind the Scenes (info you can’t get anywhere else)11% Inspiring (encouraging, kept me positive)11% Stories (people love stories) 9% Voice ("I love their voice"). I have said (since 2005) your podcast is not about you, it’s about the audience. If you are a radio station, your call letters are WIFT (what’s in it for them). Find out what they want and deliver it in an entertaining and encouraging fashion, and you will connect with your audience. Noah's Ark,Noah,Noah The Movie,Minister Stevie Tee,Blasted,A Christian Movie Review,   Well we decided for you to see the video above first so you may hear and see how passionate the Minister, musician, producer, humanitarian is about his God's (The Great I Am) word. The minister of CitySide Ministries International has been preparing for his upcoming YouTube and Television show but decided to give the word early speaking on God's commandment from Exodus 20:4. Even though the show isn't fully in edited/animated display he comes through quite straight forward and on point. He told sources that him and his sons Stevie Tee Jr. & Curtis Michael from song :Wrapped in Red (which can be purchased on amazon.com) was going to the movies this past weekend to see Noah , The Lego Movie and The Muppets but after the holy spirit spoke he was led not to participate in the sin of it which he says "Cease That Madness" which also is his show's slogan. He speaks and says that hollywood is all about profits and that they are not about the church so they shouldn't pretty much be profiting off of God as he referenced the main actor might not even be in Christ yet. He also told sources that he has a collection of biblical movies but since the holy spirit showed him and remionded him of the truth, he's going to burn them. Well, if he's doing it then many should listen and follow because the word of God do state that we cannot have a graven image or anything in the likeness of it so movies, pictures are in the likeness which means ...........it's in sin, so Minister Stevie Tee you have a follower now who is (watching those movies) out not in, or say my name is bennit and I ain't in it but I am in the faith.
