The Hardcore Self Help Podcast with Duff the Psych

In this quick episode, I share what has been going on with the podcast and why I haven't been uploading. The truth is, that I am taking a step back from the show. I explain why and what comes next. Part of the episode is me reading off a post that I wrote, which you can read below. ------ I think it's time to let go of my podcast. Episode 1 of the Hardcore Self Help Podcast aired on 3/16/2016. Nearly 450 episodes later, I think it might be time to let it go. When I began the show, podcasting wasn't cool. This was before Huberman Lab and Diary of a CEO. This is before every influencer had their own podcast. I certainly wasn't one of the first podcasts, but I was in the cohort of podcasters that were influenced by Pat Flynn, Cliff Ravenscraft, and Daniel J. Lewis. Podcasts were the up and coming way to generate an audience and scale your craft. For me, this was a way to bring mental health content to the masses. In 2014, I released my first book, Hardcore Self Help: F**k Anxiety. I wrote this during my pre-doctoral internship at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego. The book was written and published in a matter of a couple weeks, driven by my frustrations with the mental health field following my wife's hospitalization (more about that in my TedX talk). Since the market was not yet saturated with potty-mouth self-help books, it was a hit and quickly became my primary source of income. With the popularity of the book came emails and direct messages asking me questions. As someone who was working toward becoming licensed as a psychologist, it was important that I didn't give out direct advice to people in a private forum unless I had an established care relationship with the person. That's when I realized I could make my childhood dreams of having a newspaper advice column come true by starting a podcast. Truthfully, this was not my first foray into podcasting. I tried to start a podcast about the 90s with my friends called The Good Old Days, but that failed to launch. Then I had a podcast that ran for a good while called The Voices Among Us, in which I interviewed unhoused people on the street about their lives. Those experiences meant that I had the tools and knowledge necessary to launch the Hardcore Self Help Podcast. And man, has it been great. I have had the opportunity to answer questions about anxiety, relationships, sexuality, school, neuroscience, medications, abusive families, PTSD, depression, bipolar, autism, mushrooms, ketamine, queerness, blackness, multiculturalism, gender identity and so much more. I've been able have great conversations with Seth Godin, Dr. Andrea Letamendi, Kati Morton, Gary Bishop, Dr. Anna Yusim, Tiffany Jenkins, Jenn Harris, Dr. Patrick McGrath, Tony Weaver Jr., Dr. Judy Ho, Dr. David Burns, and many others. And yet, as the years of the podcast march on, the interest is waning. I will always have pride for being something of an O.G. in the mental health podcasting space, but as my wife said recently, it's important to make room for other voices and to not force something that isn't working. I wouldn't say the podcast isn't working, but it certainly isn't what it once was. At one point in time, I was getting enough listens to garner thousands per month in advertising revenue. These days, I'm lucky if an episode hits 5,000 listens in a month. To be clear, that is still a substantial amount, but for the hours that I put into the podcast, the decline in listenership over time becomes hard to justify at a certain point. Here's a graph from my podcast hosting platform so you can see what I mean:  I worry a bit about coming off as ungrateful or just chasing numbers. Hopefully it's clear that I am immensely proud of what I've been able to do with the podcast and so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have a platform like this. I have a folder in my email with feedback from people that I have answered questions for, and trust me when I say there is no better pick-me-up on a rainy day than reading through some of them. However, ultimately, I need to figure out the best path forward for myself, for my career, and for my family. Unfortunately, a lot of that comes down to income right now. I need to make more money. While I get many benefits from continuing the podcast, it is no longer lucrative, and it takes up a great deal of time and mental space to maintain. As someone who always has my hands in many pies, I need to take a step back every so often to re-evaluate my priorities. To weigh the pros and cons of each facet of my career and life and determine where I should be increasing or decreasing my focus. Between my clinical work as a neuropsychologist and therapist, podcasting, writing books, giving professional talks, and being a presence for my family and loved ones, there isn't an obvious answer. But there is one that I am begrudgingly starting to admit to myself. I haven't even made an actual change yet, and I am already starting the grieving process. This project has been so incredibly important to me and central to my life. It's like letting go of a child. In fact, as I'm writing this, my 10-year-old just came in and told me that he doesn't want me to quit. Sigh… these choices are never easy. I should know – once upon a time, I wasn't known as Duff The Psych, I was known as the ASMRtist, Justawhisperingguy. And just like there are some OGs out there who have stuck around since my first ASMR videos, there will be OGs who are still with me a decade from now that started following me from my first podcast episodes. So, all of this begs the question: What now? I don't think I am going to be cutting off the podcast cold turkey. For one, I don't have any interest in getting rid of the entire back catalogue, so I'm not going to suddenly stop paying for my podcast host. I also may occasionally come back to post something on the podcast feed if I record an interview or have the bug to make some content. My Youtube channel will continue to be the primary platform where I release longform content. But it's time to take a big step back. It's time to find another avenue to continue building and engaging with my audience. It's time to put some effort into marketing my next book. It's time to stop stressing out because the kids are taking a long time to go to sleep or are being too loud so I can't record. It's time to take a deep breath and step off into the next stage of my life and career. Whatever the hell that may turn out to be.   Love, Robert

I started my podcast journey back in 2006, yeah a long time ago and that makes me one of the OG podcasters, however, I didn't get serious about it until 2016 when I moved to Fredericksburg Virginia, and started going to a meetup held by Kyle Bondo who runs a few podcasts and a media host company called Once Told. While attending that meetup I wanted to get better at podcasting and make new friends as I am originally from the Chicagoland area. Kyle recommended a few podcasts about podcasting and one that caught my attention was The Audacity to Podcast. I loved the name and listened to a few episodes and was hooked.StatsWebsite https://theaudacitytopodcast.com/ Host: Daniel J Lewis# of episodes at time of recording: 408Avg length 40 minsFirst published: 18 June 2010Description: I believe podcasting is the BEST way for YOU to share a message to change the world! FIRST, GET NOTICED Before you can grow relationships with your audience and become an authority and influencer in your niche, you need to get discovered. Making your podcast discoverable is one of the first critical steps. So many podcasters struggle to grow their audience. However, they are doing very little to be visible and become discoverable. You cannot expect people to just show up to your podcast. It takes diligent, deliberate action on your part to get in front of those listeners. As you build the relationships, many will become fans for life. CHICAGO GETS NOTICED I just saw the band Chicago perform Wednesday night. It was a full house even though only 2 of the 10 guys on stage were original members of the band. Jimmy Pankow on trombone and Lee Loughnane on trumpet were the only two original members on stage. Robert Lamm is still listed as a member, but for some reason he wasn't there. Even the lead singer is the third replacement after Peter Cetera left the band in 1985. Chicago has been touring for over 55 years. Over those years, they have been building relationships. They have toured relentlessly for years gaining more and more fans at each show. In 1971, Chicago performed a week of sold out shows at Carnegie Hall in New York City. They were the first rock band to do it and turned the shows into a 4-disc box set as their fourth album. Six years later in 1977, Chicago became one of the first acts to receive the Gold Ticket Award from Madison Square Garden in New York City. It was a new award given to performers who sold over 100,000 tickets to performances at the venue. Chicago drew over 180,000 people to the venue in nine sold-out appearances there over the years. On Wednesday night, a full house at the 5,000-seat outdoor amphitheater sang, danced and partied with a band that was a shell of its former self. And the fans couldn't have cared less. It was legacy. The music holds a special place in the hearts of fans even though the original guys aren't there performing it. It's all about relationships. DISCOVERABLE THROUGH PODCASTS Relationships begin by getting discovered. There are many ways to get discoverable. Some work better than others. In studies that have been done, most people discover new podcasts through word of mouth. They hear somebody else mention the show. Therefore, my favorite way to get discoverable is to get interviewed on other podcasts. Podcast listeners listen to podcasts. Give them options. SUMMITS I find summits a good way to become discoverable. Though all summits are not created equal. I've been on summits that have 15 people at the session. However, I was on an AI summit a few weeks ago where 350 people were there. A summit is like a virtual conference. A group of experts give presentations centered around a the theme of the summit. Summits typically last anywhere from one to five days. The session are usually interviews or presentations. During the presentation, the presenter will usually offer a free lead magnet to get people on their email list. When I was on the summit with 350 people in the room, I was able to add 125 people to my email list. Just ensure your presentation and gift match the audience the summit is attracting. OTHER WAYS TO GET DISCOVERABLE There are a variety of other ways to get discoverable. You can get on stage at conferences in your niche. Find ways to get mentioned in articles. Do Facebook lives in groups with group owners. Just connect with the owner of the group and see if you can add some value to their group. I've have huge success speaking to masterminds. These are typically small groups, but they've invested to be there. You can also create your own virtual events that partners can promote. DANIEL J. LEWIS Today, I want to share an interview I did with Daniel J. Lewis. He is a master at getting your podcast discoverable. As a multiple-award-winning podcaster, Daniel J. One Thing About Ratings and Reviews In Apple Podcasts (they don't help you in the algorithm). Per Apple: What the Apple charts measure: Apple Podcasts Charts reflect the most popular shows and episodes available in a given market and are designed to help people discover what to listen to next. They do not reflect all-time listening records and are not a measure of the largest podcasts by listenership. While the exact algorithm cannot be shared to protect their integrity, the charts measure a mix of the following: Listening: When listeners are engaging with episodes, it's an indicator of content popularity. Follows: When listeners follow a show to receive new episodes, it's an indicator of their intent to listen. Completion Rate: When listeners complete episodes, it's an indicator of content quality. Ratings, reviews, and shares Although ratings, reviews, and shares also help indicate a podcast's newness, popularity, and quality, they are not factored into the algorithm that determines the rankings for Top Shows and Top Episodes. In other words, they may not help people find a podcast on their own, but they influence whether people will listen or follow, and those factors influence the charts. Your podcast and content provide amazing opportunities for you and your business. Just think of the things you've been able to do, because you have a podcast. We will have conversations around all the questions you've been asking. Register for the Podcast Profits Summit for free to get these questions and more answered. It doesn't matter how many podcasts are out there. Your podcast has the ability to outshine the rest. Plus when you upgrade to VIP, you'll receive VIP gifts from the top experts who are joining me, a recording of the entire summit, and two resources from me. To register for Podcast Profits Summit, visit http://www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/summit. I can't wait to see you there. Let's dive into the 9 things your podcast makes possible. These are 9 of the 24 summit session you'll enjoy at the Podcast Profits Summit. SHARE YOUR MESSAGE First, you podcast allows you to share your message and leave your impact on the world. Your listeners get to hear your voice, experience your passion, and get impacted by your expertise. You have a message to share. People need what you know. Your podcast makes that possible. Janelle Anderson will join us on the Podcast Profits Summit with "How to Ensure Your Message Isn't Just Heard, But Felt". This is how you make your impact on the world by sharing your message. Known as the Speaking Confidence Coach for coaches, Janelle is a Certified Professional Coach, author, and renowned speaker. Janelle is on a mission to empower coaches to launch on a strong foundation of clear messaging aimed at the audience most aligned with their passions and strengths, then grow their business through masterful speaking and storytelling. YOUR PASSION Next, your podcast allows you to build a business around something you love. As the old saying goes, "Do what you love and you'll never work another day in your life." Your podcast gives you the opportunity to build your business around that one thing you love. Jeanette Shorey taught music in schools for over 2 decades. She now hosts Stories That Sing. Her community is called the Happy Music Teacher. It is full of resources and community for elementary music teachers all promoted by her podcast. During the Podcast Profits Summit, Jeanette will talk about building a business around your passion. DISCOVERY Third, your podcast helps you get discovered. So many coaches come to me struggling to build their audience. How do I get more listeners, more downloads, more clients? When you build it right, your podcast can be a powerful tool to get you discovered. Search engine optimization is often mysterious to many people. It doesn't need to be that way. With a few of the right tools and strategies, you can show up in searches and get discovered using your podcast. On the Podcast Profit Summit, Daniel J. Lewis will join us with "Make Your Podcast Discoverable with Search Engine Optimization (SEO)". Daniel is the host of "The Audacity to Podcast". You'll definitely want to catch this session. Remember, going VIP on the summit will get you the recordings of every session of the summit along with other amazing resources. THE TOP OF YOUR FUNNEL Next, your podcast can sit at the top of your funnel. To grow your business, your client needs a path to follow. We call it the funnel. You offer free content to give people a taste of what you do. Get people to take action by allowing them to download a free resource in exchange for their name and email address. We call this the lead magnet. After nurturing the relationship through your email list, you make an offer to your audience and turn them into clients. Your podcast is the top of that funnel. This is where you give listeners that free content. Your podcast makes your funnel possible. Trent True will join us on the Podcast Profits Summit to discuss how to demystify your podcast funnel. ATTRACT IDEAL CLIENTS The fifth thing your podcast makes possible is attracting ideal clients. We talk about this a ton on Podcast Talent Coach. Your podcast makes powerful conversations possible every week. There are few things more powerful than being in the ear of a person having a one-on-one conversation sharing your stories. This is how people get to know, like and trust you. If you want to get more clients for your business, your podcast will make that possible. I am giving you that during the Podcast Profits Summit. It is called "5 Ways to Attract Your Ideal Clients with Your Podcast". BUILD RAPPORT TO MAKE SALES Next, your podcast makes more sales possible. There are many ways to make sales. Being authentic, building rapport, and getting others to help are three important pieces to that process. Collaboration is an amazing way to get in front of more potential clients and make sales. Jim Padilla is my coach and will bring "Leveraging the Power of Collaboration to Make Sales" to the Podcast Profits Summit. Jim is the founder and CEO of Gain the Edge and host of the "Opportunity Makers" podcast. This is definitely a conversation you'll want to revisit again and again. You can do that when you go VIP for the Podcast Profits Summit. All VIPs get recordings of all the sessions. You also get VIP gifts from the speakers, my guide to attracting clients, and my course "How To Crush Your Next Podcast Interview Like A Radio Pro". Get registered and go VIP at http://www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/summit. STAGES Things your podcast makes possible number 7 is speaking opportunities. Your podcast is like a demo reel. Not only can you attract stage owners, you can also show them what you do and how you do it. Being on stage is a great way to get in front of potential clients. There are a variety of stages. Get on stages and turn those audiences into clients. Kimberly Crowe is the host of Speakers Playhouse and Podapalooza. She brings us "How Coaches and Entrepreneurs Can Instantly Profit By Speaking on Four Types of Stages" during the Podcast Profits Summit. JV OPPORTUNITIES Next, your podcast makes joint venture opportunities possible. You now have a stage to share with other experts. The can interview you on their stages in return. You can also promote joint venture partners and make affiliate commissions. Marc Mawhinney runs the Coaching Jungle. It is a group of over 25,000 on Facebook. Marc also does joint venture in a unique way. He also hosts the podcast "Natural Born Coaches". He will share his process with us during "Creating Unique and Powerful Joint Ventures" on the Podcast Profits Summit. MULTIPLE STREAMS OF INCOME Finally, your podcast makes possible multiple streams of income. Your podcast sits at the center of your business. The podcast can feed multiple other revenue streams. It could be speaking, writing, coaching, courses, and a variety of other streams. You simply need to build it properly. Dan Miller is author of 48 Days to the Work You Love. He hosts the podcast of the same name and runs the 48 Days Eagles Community. Dan's podcast sits at the center of his revenue universe. He will show us how he does it during "Creating Multiple Streams of Income With Your Podcast". It's all part of the Podcast Profits Summit. SO MUCH IS POSSIBLE These are just 9 of the 24 amazing sessions you'll experience during the Podcast Profits Summit. You can register for free at http://www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/summit. Imagine getting all your questions answered in one place over three days. How great would it be getting the step-by-step help you need to position your podcast to stand out and rise above the rest? Imagine what that could mean for the future of your podcast and your business. This event is going to be a ton of fun. I'm bringing together 24 amazing experts to help you make that a reality. This isn't your typical talking head type of summit. I'll be having powerful conversations with each of these experts asking the same questions you would ask if you were sitting in front of them yourself. Register for the Podcast Profits Summit for free to get these questions and more answered. Get registered at http://www.

Ler a notícia completa SOBRE LANÇAMENTOS 10 – A City University of London lançou o primeiro mestrado dedicado ao podcasting. Todd and Mike review how the predictions panned out for this last year. Also, Mike had a little fun with the RoadCaster Pro's cart buttons :) Todd paid the $1 bet.  It was fun and a little rough around the edges. Happy New Year!  See ya in 2023! Thanks for joining us on this episode of Podcast Insider. Looking to be a guest on the show? Let us know. Emails are listed at the bottom of show notes. Carolyn Berry from Adventures with Grammy, says her show will double its listeners in 2022.  ( good plug! )  Don't know.  Carolyn?  Did it double?  Maxwell Ivey Jr. from What's Your Excuse network and The Blind Blogger says: I predict even more people, companies, and organizations will launch podcasts. I predict Spotify and others will continue to try to win the podcasting world like it's a game of monopoly. I predict that more people will be hosting with Blubrry. Dave Keeshan from The Future is Not Set, I predict the option to open a payment stream to podcasts will increase. So far Patreon and buymeacoffee.com are sorta fits. The start of tipping, or lightning/crypto payments, or anything that can be done from a handheld device will become more common. This will hopefully happen as a result of people's frustration with the increase of ads into their podcast experience. Hopefully, this will also lead to a more dynamic podcast, where they can be delivered with and without ads. There will be more live streaming like events/productions. Clubhouse, Fireside, Wisdom, are all chasing "something". The thing, live, interactive audio, which can be recorded and released later as a podcast, maybe as different as radio shows are to podcasts (which are also released after the fact as podcasts) The CHECK YOUR HEAD Podcast's prediction for 2022 @checkheadpod is that it will be the biggest year for podcast growth as more people turn to #podcasts for safe, enjoyable & free entertainment during #pandemiclife.  Josh - Tips of the Slung I wouldn't be surprised if some of the shows under the banners of bigger companies (in particular shows that were independent and successful prior to signing) try to break their contracts and go indie again. Daniel J. Lewis from Audacity to Podcast -  I expect we'll see another huge platform support podcasts—maybe Microsoft, Twitter, or LinkedIn. Also much bigger adoption of Podcasting 2.0. Jim Malliard from The Malliard Report:  I predict Spotify will close the free version of anchor and try to recruit shows to only be on Spotify, only with free music accounts. Articles: HotPod / The Verge's predictions (toward the bottom of this article) Pacific Content's Annual Prediction article Kids' Podcast Predictions for 2022 From the Team: Toby Goodman from Blubrry Pro Production:  There will be at least one best selling book about podcasting coming in late Feb! (hint: Toby is writing a book)  :) Ultimately I say this... The industry will be split into even more subsections from a revenue-generating standpoint. I don't think paid subscriptions will grow wildly unless podcasters are prepared to give more than just... more audio away. ie: More in-person events, memberships… Barry Kantz -  I think the blockchain will have an impact on podcasting over the next couple of years. Todd's Predictions:  Facebook will be #2 by end of 2022  (BONK!) More consolidation of conglomerates buying podcast companies (Some) More advertising opportunities for independent podcasters (Yes) The growth of the podcast space will go back to pre-pandemic levels (Maybe?) More companies will exercise private podcasting in their organizations (Some) Anchor will add another million dead show (Yes) Apple will open up API submission to Apple Podcasts (soon) Mike's Predictions:  Facebook WILL NOT be the #2 listening platform by the end of 2022. (Yes!) Soundcloud will still exist (even though I've been predicting its death for years). (yes)

As always, Blubrry is here to break down the finer technical details of podcasting, this time specifically on what is podcasting 2.0, coming from the Podcast Index team. Be sure to stick around to the end where we get into the differences on how publishing works and then served to directories, similar to the discussion with podcasting 2.0. Blubrry Pro Tip Gaining Trust Question of the Week Question: How long does it take for my episode to be shown on xxx app after I publish? Answer: It can vary wildly depending on the app or directory. Remember, podcasting is a PULL and not a PUSH. The different apps and directories pull your feed a few times a day at most. The rule of thumb is as follows:  Apple: 4-24 hours. Spotify: Normally less than 12 hours. Google: Once you are in there, nearly instantly if you are using Websub (PowerPress has it) otherwise, 4-24 hours. Overcast and a lot of other independent apps: As soon as your listener opens the app and refreshes. Others: Don't worry unless it's been more than 24 hours. Most update much quicker than that. Another tip… If you are having trouble with just one app or directory, first check with that app or directory's support to see if something is going on. It's been revealed by https://podcastindustryinsights.com/apple-podcasts-statistics/ (Podcast Industry Insights courtesy of Daniel J. Lewis) that we've now tipped over the 2 million mark for the number of podcasts available in Apple Podcasts. Now, I'll be honest 2 million podcasts doesn't really sound all that impressive compared with YouTube's 37 million channels. BUT this time last year I was getting excited because we'd just reached a million. Yes. The number of podcasts has doubled in a year. And not just any year a year of lockdowns, toilet roll shortages and Zoom everything. Where do you fit in to all this? If you've not got a podcast you might be wondering if you've left it too late to start. Numbers are doubling year on year, bigger and bigger players are entering the field and so many more podcast production companies are springing up left right and centre. It's the cool thing to be audio - just look at Clubhouse! Or rather, just listen to Clubhouse. Some of these thoughts may well be going through your head The world and it's wife has a podcast so what's the point in you having one... Podcasting is for the likes of the big boys and girls, the big studios, the professionals so how will I make a difference? How will I even get heard in such a fast moving market? Heck even if you've got a podcast and it's active I bet some of those thoughts have crossed your mind. And hearing that podcasts are growing and attracting so many people is either exciting you or leaving you feeling a bit scared about you and your podcast. So let's look at those thoughts one by one. Breaking Down Podcast Statistics And What They Mean, With Guest Daniel J. Lewis

Podcast statistics can help determine what you're doing right and what you're doing wrong, as well as offer a myriad of other helpful insights. But it can be difficult to find them and even harder to find ones that are accurate. That's where our guest, Daniel J. Lewis of Podcast Industry Insights, comes in.  Daniel has been compiling and analyzing Apple Podcasts to determine things like how many podcasts currently exist, how many are new, what categories are the favorites, and how many podcasts are inactive. With his insight, both in the industry itself and through his podcast statistics, Daniel is able to offer a better and more factual look at the industry as a whole.    Show highlights:  Introduction  Why did Daniel start breaking down podcast statistics? (3:00)  Daniel explains how and why he started to collect podcast statistics and how he believes he has the most accurate numbers in the business.  How the podcast business ended 2020 (5:33)  Whether it's from the pandemic or just an industry boom, podcasting exploded in 2020. Daniel predicts Apple Podcasts will pass the 2 million podcasts mark early in 2021.  The addition and removal of podcasts from Apple Podcasts (9:17)  Daniel discusses what he's noticed about Apple Podcasts adding and removing podcasts. From what Apple Podcasts does on the weekends to why shows typically get removed from the service. Daniel also talks about what he's noticed about Apple's holiday schedules and any delays in getting shows and podcasts added into the store.  90-day activity vs. 90-day inactivity and podflashing (18:37)  Instead of just breaking down feeds into active and inactive, Daniel is shaping his metrics around any type of activity over 90 days to better understand the podcasts that are actually still active and those that have podfaded or outright ended.  Overcoming the clutter of ended podcasts (24:52)  A significant number of podcasts have just one episode as people launch a new show but never continue. Jay asks Daniel about how the industry might be able to police that in the future.  The biggest milestone for podcasters (29:06)  Daniel's podcast statistics show that getting to 10 episodes and releasing episodes within seven days of each other is a massive milestone. It's the point where 90-day inactivity drops dramatically as podcasters are clearly more invested in their shows. Daniel also talks about some of the things he believes happens once someone gets to 10 episodes.  Top podcast category in 2020 (35:31)  Daniel dives into his podcast statistics to point out the hottest categories over 2020 for new podcasts, including some categories that might surprise you.  Predicting where podcasting is headed in 2021 (38:57)  Daniel uses his experience and insight to predict what he believes will happen in the podcasting industry in 2021.  What other services Daniel is looking to offer (41:30)  Daniel breaks down some of the other things he wants to do on his website, including tracking other podcasts applications like Spotify, Google Podcasts, and others.    Links:  https://www.qd-up.com/ (Q'd Up)  https://twitter.com/TheRealPodVader (Pod Vader - Twitter)  Pod Vader - Email  https://www.linkedin.com/in/podvader (Pod Vader - Linked In)  John - Email  https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-luckenbaugh (John - Linked In)  https://podcastindustryinsights.com/ (Podcast Industry Insights)  https://theaudacitytopodcast.com/ (Daniel J. My tip this week - now, more than ever, force yourself to do the hard things. For me, it's working on my business.  The only way I'm going to do it, is to block some time, sit down, and do it.  What does that mean for you?Riverside.FM has officially launched, as a remote video recording platform.  Plans go from $20 to $50 a month, depending on if you want video and how much.  I haven't tried it yet - but it's getting good reviews, including from Hillary Clinton.https://techcrunch.com/2020/11/09/rverside-fm/?utm_source=podnews.net&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=podnews.net:2020-11-12Spotify has its biggest acquisition yet - buying podcast host Megaphone for $235 million.  Spotify has already bought The Ringer, Anchor, Gimlet and more.  Reaction to the deal is mixed.  It really seems Spotify is, to paraphrase Pinky and the Brain, trying to take over the world. Also this week, Spotify seemed to float the idea of a subscription model - surveying its listeners to see if they'd pay anywhere from $3 to $8 monthly. https://gizmodo.com/looks-like-spotify-is-considering-a-subscription-servic-1845613780Anchor is now IAB certified - meaning your downloads are real, not just from bots.  I still don't trust them, but here's their press release. https://blog.anchor.fm/updates/iab?utm_source=podnews.net&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=podnews.net:2020-11-06Daniel J. Lewis of MyPodcast Reviews says Apple added another 100,000 podcasts in October, bringing its total to over 1.6 million shows. https://mypodcastreviews.com/podcast-industry-statistics/But don't be intimidated - as Libsyn's Rob Walch reminded us at Podcast Movement Virtual, 8 of 9 new shows don't even make it to a tenth episode.  If you can commit to good quality content for the long haul, you've got much less competition than you thought. As always, if you want help launching, editing, consulting or anything else with your podcast, you can find me online at www.jagindetroit.com - send an email to jag@jagindetroit.com, or find me on social @JAGinDetroit.

According to the My Podcast Reviews service, by Daniel J. Lewis, there are as of this writing 1,429,590 valid podcasts in Apple Podcasts. Evo Terra had podcast #40. The 40th podcast ever produced belonged to Evo Terra. And Evo has been battling insomnia for something like fifteen years, often with help from a certain herbal remedy that has been discussed by other guests on the show, particularly the episode with Dr. Ryan Vandrey and the one with Dr. Richard Allen, both from Johns Hopkins University. We talk about the impact said remedy has had on his insomnia, and whether he thinks he's taking a performance hit from his usual four or five hours of sleep per night. In the second part of the show: Ever have a night where it seems like you literally blinked, but you look at the clock and hours have gone by? Or you woke up feeling like you slept pretty well, but your partner's mad at you because you actually were tossing and turning all night long and you have no memory of it? That's something called sleep state misperception - among other things. We'll get into that and a bunch of other insomnia-related topics with Dr. Spencer Dawson from Better Sleep Bloomington. Spencer is a clinical psychologist in private practice specializing in Behavioral Sleep Medicine. He's focused on sleep discrepancy, insomnia comorbid with sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and idiopathic hypersomnia. He's also focused on the puppy who kept him from getting a good night's sleep last night. Neil also has a special invitation for the hundreds of talented researchers and presenters at this year's SLEEP2020 virtual conference. And Hazleburg left a review of The Snooze Button from somewhere in America, and a five-star rating, too. Neil shares that and offers a way for you to leave your own feedback.

In Episode 3 of Brand on Broadcasting with Ross Brand, I talk about audio interfaces, what they do and why they are important to the quality of your audio when recording in a computer or streaming to the internet. I also discuss Sound Devices' MixPre-3, an audio interface, mixer and recorder. What makes it unique vs competing products is not only the outstanding quality of its Kashmir preamps, but its ability to serve as both a recorder and audio interface at the same time. We wish a very happy 20th anniversary to the team at Sound Devices, a company with a great reputation for making high-quality audio products. I look forward to checking out more gear from Sound Devices at Podcast Movement in Philadelphia later this month. This review of the MixPre-6 by Daniel J. Lewis is very thorough. Many podcasters want to make money to at least pay for the expense of podcasting. I thought you could get some great help if we reviewed the tools I use with my podcasting and in my business. This includes the tools I use to create my podcast, website and newsletter. We will also review the resources I use to learn, create products and generate revenue. This list includes affiliate links. Please understand I would never recommend anything I didn't already use and love. I have been using most of these resources for years. That is why I feel confident recommending them to you. You can find affiliate links to and discounts for most of these in the resource section online at PodcastTalentCoach.com. I want to give you a quick overview of my gear. Then, we will get into making money with your show. If you would like some great, FREE tools to get your revenue started, I have an amazing, FREE online training course for you online at PodcastTalentCoach.com. Plus, you get two of my best two of my best resource guides, "16 ways to make money with a free podcast" and "75 ways to drive engagement with your podcast". Get them now online here: FREE REVENUE GENERATING TOOLS   COACHING RESOURCE This overall list doesn't include much technical information, such as mixers, processors and software. I leave that to Dave Jackson at the School of Podcasting. He is the tech expert that helps me. If you are looking for help setting up the studio, Dave is your guy. He leads off my resources.   TECHNICAL TOOLS A few technical tools from my studio include my mic, my mac and a few web tools. My studio mic is an ElectroVoice RE20. This runs about $450. It is a high quality mic. This mic is probably much more than a beginning podcaster needs. However, if you are serious about podcasting, this is a great mic. My backup mic is an Audio-Technica ATR-2100. It s a great USB mic for about $60. For editing, I use Adobe Audition in the studio. I will occasionally use Garage Band for quick projects or when I'm traveling. Dave Jackson recently turned me on to Hindenburg Journalist. I am considering that option. Audacity is also a great tool. Daniel J. Lewis is very knowledgeable with this platform if you are looking for input. I use a Mac Book Pro 13" for the flexibility. It cost me $1,200. My mp3s are tagged with ID3 Editor from PA Software. The price tag was $15. I host my audio with Libsyn. It runs $20/month. My URLs were purchased through GoDaddy. The price really depends on the URL. You can usually find a deal. After the initial deal, I pay about $45/year. I have a website on Homestead and one on Host Gator with Wordpress. Homestead is a stand alone site builder. Host Gator just hosts my Wordpress site. Homestead is $20/month. HostGator is $135/year, just over $11/month. They each have various plans. Wordpress is free. On my website, I use Paypal for my transactions. Most of my providers accept it. Plus, they have a card option for my customers. I like this because most of my customers are familiar with it. Aweber is my newsletter provider. The subscription is $19/month at the time of this writing. I looked at Mail Chimp. Both are very similar services if you have a list under 5,000. Canva.com is a decent resource for creating graphics. I use it primarily as an editing tool. They have a decent photo library. Most photos are about $1/photo. However, most of my photos come from 123RF.com. I find those photos to be a little better than the Canva photos. My workbook was self-published through Create Space, an Amazon company. You simply upload a .pdf. It is fairly simple to use. Not very expensive. They also sell the workbook through Amazon and converted it to Kindle. That made things super easy for me. I am in the process of creating a membership portal through WishList Member. It was $297 when I purchased it. They have solid training videos. I am not yet complete with this one.   LEARNING TOOLS Dan Miller and 48Days.com is where it all started. He has great tools to help you find your passion and the work you love. Internet Business Mastery is a great podcast and course that has helped me refine my business focus. Jeremy & Jason have been there and done it. Audible.com has turned my car into a mobile classroom. I am usually listening to a couple books a month on top of the podcasts. You can get a free book when you use my affiliate link on the resources page. I cannot say enough about Dave Jackson and the School of Podcasting. If you want to learn the technical nuts and bolts, check out his course, membership and training tools.   SHOW ME THE MONEY Now that you have your gear set, let's talk about making money with your show. Don't forget to get the free training online at PodcastTalentCoach.com. To make money with your podcast, you need something to sell. When I'm coaching clients, we review goals. Many will say, "I'd like to make money with my podcast." When I ask, "What do you have to sell?", they say, "Nothing." Nothing to sell equals no revenue. A few ads in your show will not generate enough revenue to make a difference. You need to create a product. Then, let your podcast promote that product while helping and entertaining your audience. The best thing about a digital product is that you do the work once and then sell it over and over again. When I was struggling to launch a product, I had no idea what my audience wanted. So many gurus say, "Figure out what your audience wants and then make it for them." That sounds so easy. But, how do you figure that out? A Seed Launch is the perfect place to start. The Seed Launch is part of Jeff Walker's Product Launch Formula. The Seed Launch is one of my favorite parts of the PLF course. I've watched that module multiple times and learn something new each time. I love the Seed Launch and want to share it with you. If you embrace this, you will find the product creation and launch process so much easier to understand. Jeff teaches you exactly how to figure out what your audience wants. With the Seed Launch, your listeners tell you what they need as you create the product. It is brilliant. Let's walk through it. One of the fastest and easiest ways to make money is with the Seed Launch. You start with no list or product and you get paid to create your product. Tell me that doesn't sound great. If you are just starting out or want to test a new idea, a Seed Launch works very well. When you are building your online revenue stream you need to take small, incremental steps. Those small steps add up to huge results. You start building your list with your opt in. Promote that opt-in on your podcast and through your e-mail. You let that opt-in teach people about your product. Finally, you execute your product launch. These are the baby steps to revenue. With the Seed Launch, you don't need a huge list or a product. This is an interactive process. The Seed Launch helps build relationships. It helps get feedback and case studies that you can use with even bigger launches. Each launch builds on the last. Most of us are not trained teachers or trainers. We don't instinctively know how to teach correctly or appropriately. The Seed Launch will help you refine those skills as well. When creating your product and teaching, be careful of the Curse of Knowledge. You forgot what you didn't know when you were staring out. You forgot what it was like to not know the basics. You're likely an expert in the subject matter of your product. As an expert, it is very hard to remember what it was like as a beginner. Now, you do it without thinking. Like riding a bike. If you have ever taught a child to ride a bike, you know what it is like to try to remember the basics. The Seed Launch helps you avoid the Curse of Knowledge. It is interactive with webinars or teleseminars. That's what makes the Seed Launch a fantastic way to create and launch a product. Your fans tell you exactly what they don't know and need to learn.   HOW DOES IT WORK? So, how does the Seed Launch work? With the Seed Launch, you create an outline for your course. You then get a group of people to join you as you conduct a series of webinars. Through the surveys you perform before and after each call, you'll find out what they really want to know, where the gaps are, and what you need to revisit or teach better. They tell you exactly what you need to teach, which helps you build a product your audience wants and needs. As you conduct the webinar series, you record all of the calls. By the end, you have a product that your audience has helped you create. It is exactly what they want, because they told you during the process. You have answered all of their questions, because they asked. The Seed Launch helps you determine the market need while avoiding the curse of knowledge. Keep in mind, the Seed Launch is not just for beginners. If you have a business but want to launch a new product, this is a fantastic way to get started. It prevents procrastination, because you get paid and are forced to create the product. The Seed Launch brings in money, creates a great product, and leads to new learning.   GET PEOPLE INTERESTED "But I don't have a list." How do you get people in the webinars when you don't have a big e-mail list? We all started at zero. You are not alone. The best things about the Seed Launch is that you don't need a big list. You only need a small group to help you with the creation of your product. You need enough that you can create some community and receive valuable input. Where can we find those people? Think about your circle of influence within your expertise. Do you have a group of people you know who might be interested in your knowledge? How about your e-mail contacts. Look at your Facebook friends and your Twitter followers. Your podcast audience is a great pool of people. These are all solid ways to get people interested in your webinar series. If you can get 20 people on your webinar each paying your $100 to be there, you are earning $2,000 to create your product. How great is that? When you are done with the webinar series, you have a great product to sell over and over again using the other forms of launches that Jeff teaches. You can use the Internal Launch, JV Launch and Quick Launch. Jeff Walker teaches all of these in Product Launch Formula. He is getting ready to release PLF and kick off the training. Do you want to learn more? Do you want to see how this can propel your revenue? The free video series Jeff releases to promote PLF is training Jeff calls the "Second Best Training" on the internet just after the PLF course itself. I own PLF and have watched his free video series three times AFTER I made the purchase. It is a great business resource. If you want access to course, sign up at PodcastTalentCoach.com. From Zero To A Podcast A Week – Episode 172   When you are trying to ramp up your podcast from nothing to consistently publishing a podcast a week, you need to develop a plan. That plan should contain a few critical steps.   To be successful, develop an overview of the show. Build a structural foundation that you can use for each episode. Review your show to get the best content. Finally, create a schedule to create your content every week.   In this episode, I will help you build that plan.   PODCASTERS' SOCIETY If you would like to surround yourself with podcasters and experts to help you along the path, Daniel J. Lewis' Podcasters' Society is open again at a discount for a short time. This is a fantastic community and resource that will help you take your podcast from average to amazing. You will find tools to improve your content, presentation, production, promotion, and profit.   Save on your registration by using my affiliate link. https://podcasterssociety.com/erik/   It is much easier to succeed when you surround yourself with people who support you. Then, be consistent as you publish.   I am in a mastermind with 3 other guys. We support and help each other along our business journey. We also keep each other accountable.   Facebook groups and memberships are another great way to learn and be held accountable. I am an affiliate of Daniel J. Lewis' Podcasters' Society. It is a great membership site to help you develop your podcast and solve problems you encounter.   Podcasters' Society has an amazing community of podcasters and experts to help you along. I am one of the experts participating in the group quite often.   In this episode, I am going to walk you through planning your entire podcasts from show development to review. This will help you create that consistency.   Then, I will tell you all about Podcasters' Society and how that can help you as well. Just know, right now you can get a special rate using my discount code to save a ton.   Podcasters' Society is typically $49/month, which would be $588/year if you paid monthly. Let me help you knock $159 off of that.   Daniel has already discounted the annual rate to $479/year. That is a savings of $109 over paying monthly. I have convinced him to give my listeners an additional discount of $50. That saves you $159 off the first year for a rate of $429 for the first year. On top of that, you get to keep the $479/year rate after your first year. This discount is only available until the end of August.   To get the $429 annual rate for your first year subscription, visit https://podcasterssociety.com/erik/.   If you choose the monthly option to try it out, you can save $15 off your first month. Instead of $49 for the first month, you will only pay $34. However, that rate returns to $49 in the second month. You will save much more using the annual savings.   Either way, find the savings here: https://podcasterssociety.com/erik/.   DEVELOPING YOUR PLAN So, let's develop your show and take you from zero to a podcast a week. You must have a plan.   Your podcast won't happen unless you schedule your work. Nothing gets done until it is scheduled.   We will develop an overview of the show. We will lay a structural foundation for each episode. I will teach you how to review your show to get the best content. Then, we will lay out a schedule to create your content every week.   Each of these steps comes straight out of my Podcast Talent Coach Worksheet library. Your Favorite Podcast Events – Episode 162   This week, I wanted to review your favorite podcast events. I put out the call for suggestions. Most replies that I received said, "Erik, I haven't attended any podcast events."   That's a shame. There are quite a few great gatherings that can really help you grow.   BENEFITTING FROM EVENTS There were a few suggestions. I also received an e-mail from Cynthia, who was really dejected after attending a conference.   Dear Erik,   I actually attended the National Religious Broadcasters Convention twice hoping to find a way to boost my show and possibly find a radio station that would want to pick it up.   Sadly, I spent a lot of money, but didn't feel I was able to justify the expense. I was looking for people who were interested in helping me, but all I met were people looking for people who could enrich themselves.   It wasn't a total waste because some of the sessions were informative and educational. However, I didn't have one contact that materialized into anything lasting. I may have found some guests, but they were just "one time guests".   I appreciate your ideas of how to have a real conversation with others for a lasting impact. Podcasting can feel very lonely. I don't have a team working with me.   There will always be people who want to have us buy their services, but there's not much to buy until we have a funding stream.   Sincerely, Cynthia Home Front www.CynthiaDavis.net   GIVE FIRST When you attend an event, I think you need to approach it differently. Seek to give. Seek to help. What you send out will return to you.   Cynthia, it is time for some tough love.   You say you were "looking for people who were interested in helping me, but all I met were people looking for people who could enrich themselves." You mention that you "didn't have one contact that materialized into anything lasting. I may have found some guests, but they were just 'one time guests'".   Rarely do people go to events wondering, "Hmm. Who can I help today." That means you can stand out and be unique by asking that very question.   You can have a real conversation with others for lasting impact by seeking to help them. Talk about them. Discover their struggles. Where you can you help them succeed.   The theory of reciprocity will naturally take effect. People will be more open to helping you if you first help them.   However, don't expect reciprocity. Let it happen organically, and don't be upset if it doesn't. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.   MY UNIQUE RELATIONSHIP Being in radio for nearly 30 years, I have attended many, many conferences. I have attended conferences for radio, podcasting, coaching hockey and others. The opportunity to learn and grow excites me.   My first conference came when I was in college. As the Music Director of the college radio station (and a member of a rap group), I attended the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City put on by the College Music Journal.   It was the summer of 1989. October 26th at the Vista Hotel in New York City at the foot of the World Trade Center.   George Clinton and Ice-T were the keynote speakers. I had a great chat with Ice-T in the lobby of the hotel.   One of my most bizarre relationships began at the CMJ Music Marathon that year.   Each night during the conference, there would be music showcases all around town. Most were free with your conference pass.   Doc and I grabbed a cab and went to NYU to see a hip-hop show. Doc was the other half of my rap duo. Yep. True story.   On the bill that night were quite a few artists. Third Bass, Black Sheep, Young Black Teenagers and others performed. Heavy D. was in the audience checking out the show. The Geto Boys even tried to get up on stage at the end of the show before the sound guy cut their mics.   Third Bass was made up of MC Serch, Prime Minister Pete Nice and DJ Richie Rich. Third Bass was also notable as one of the first, successful, interracial hip-hop groups.   "Pop Goes The Weasel" was the biggest single of Third Bass' career. They also had a minor hit with "The Gas Face" from "The Cactus Album". It was their first album, which the group had just released a month after this concert.   On my show on the college station, I had been playing Third Bass for a few months by this time. Their first single was a tune called "Steppin' To The A.M." It sampled Pink Floyd's "Time". I played the tune a lot on the radio at a time when rap and hip-hop were not part of the mainstream. This was 1989. My airplay helped the song climbed to #5 on the U.S. Rap Chart in some small way.   Jump ahead 17 years to 2006. By this time I was the Program Director of a Top 40 radio station. Third Bass had broken up for a second time 6 years earlier. MC Serch had left his job as a morning radio host to work full-time at Serchlite Music, a promotion company he ran.   Serch was calling radio stations to talk to Program Directors and trying to convince them to play particular singles. I happen to be one of his weekly calls.   During our first call, Serch tells me my name sounds familiar. Johnson isn't the most unique name, so I figure he is just trying to be friendly. He asks where I have worked in the past, that maybe our paths had crossed before.   Unlike many in the business, my radio career had not taken me all over the country. I had worked in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska at this point in my career. That is what I told Serch.   We got to talking about my start at the college station in Lincoln. I told him I started one of the first shows dedicated to rap and hip-hop in the state.   ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That is when it happened.   Serch said, "That's it! You were a huge supporter for us back then!"   I said, "Oh, yeah. I played the crud out of 'Steppin' To The A.M.' I loved that record."   That's when Serch said, "Yeah, you did. We thanked you in the credits of that album for all of your support."   What!?! I'm in the liner notes? How did I not know this?   I said, "Are you kidding me? I didn't know that."   "You bet," he told me. "You were a big part of getting us off the ground."   That night, I went home and got out my "Cactus Album" CD. Sure enough, there I was in the liner notes.   I had made a connection and difference at that conference 17 years earlier and hadn't even realized it.   And that's my point. When you are at a conference, you never know what might happen or who you might meet. The meeting may not mean anyting at the time. It may not make a difference in the next decade. However, it may just change somebody's life in ways you never intended.   When you are at a gathering, seek to give and help first. It will all come back around.   Cynthia did say, "It wasn't a total waste because some of the sessions were informative and educational." So, where can you find podcast events to make meaningful connections?   SOME OF THE TOP PODCAST EVENTS Many people who responded to my ask haven't attended podcasting events. This is a list I have gathered from a few of the best podcasting minds in the industry. I have attended a few of these. I also received recommendations from Dave Jackson at School of Podcasting and Daniel J. Lewis at The Audacity To Podcast and Podcasters' Society.   Ticket prices and info are as accurate as I could find as of this date. 6 People Who Can Help You With Your Podcast – Episode 152   Surround yourself with the best people and success can be had.   Over my years in radio, I learned time and again that I could accomplish so much more by getting help and mentoring from the right people. As I ventured into podcasting, I quickly found the people that could mentor me and help me move forward toward my goals.   Today, I want to share with you a few people I think might be able to help you on your podcasting journey. Some I know personally and work with closely. Some have mentored me from afar through their work and resources.   Whichever method you choose to use, find the people that can help you get to your goals quicker and achieve more than you ever thought possible.     School of Podcasting – Dave Jackson   The first person I want to introduce you to is Dave Jackson at School of Podcasting. If you have listened to my podcast for any length of time, you have heard me mention Dave. He has been my mentor, helping me learn the technical side of podcasting.   Dave's coaching and tutorials have helped me more than anyone I have encountered.   My podcast actually started out as a blog. Back in early 2012, I was writing about the art of podcasting while learning the technical side and preparing to launch my show. Less than four months into it, my writings were being published on the New Media Expo site.   Shortly after I began writing for New Media Expo, Dave saw my stuff and reached out. Dave was already on my radar, because I had discovered his website when I was doing my original research. I simply hadn't considered reaching out to a guy who had been doing it for about 7 years at that point. He was there near the beginning.   Dave's gesture reaching out to me was a fantastic surprise. We had a great conversation that lasted about an hour. Here was a guy that had been podcasting since 2005 that just wanted to get to know more about what I was doing and how we might help each other. That is what I absolutely love about podcasters.   The conversation eventually led to a bit of a partnership. Dave and I kept in touch working on various ideas together. We met up at New Media Expo a few times. Finally, we teamed up when I joined Dave's “Podcast Review Show” podcast. We review podcasters and help them improve.   [You can appear on the Podcast Review Show and get reviewed HERE.]   Prior to that partnership, Dave help me multiple times with my website, podcast, and technical aspects of my show. He has truly been there and done that. Dave knows his stuff.   If you have questions about your feed, website or other technical aspects of your podcast, I highly recommend you use Dave's knowledge and tools. He does some one-on-one coaching. He has resources on his website. You can also get deal on gear through Dave.   [Find information on Dave Jackson and the School of Podcasting HERE.]     Audacity to Podcast – Daniel J. Lewis   Daniel J. Lewis is another podcaster that helps people launch and improve their own podcast. He shares his knowledge of the audio software Audacity and web platform Wordpress. You'll learn all about equipment, software and skills necessary to podcast. His show was named the #1 technology podcast in 2012.   Daniel and I met through Dave Jackson. After following his show for quite some time, Daniel and I finally met at New Media Expo and have since developed a bit of a relationship.   The thing I love most about Daniel and Dave is their honesty and flexibility. They won't push you toward their favorite microphone. They will give you honest reviews and options that fit your needs. For instance, do you want or need a $60 microphone or $360 microphones? They teach you the differences and why.   Daniel has a great lead magnet called “20 Things You Should Do Before Every Podcast Episode.” You learn how to get the room quiet, how to prepare, what tools to gather and more. He calls it his preflight checklist. This will make your recording session so much more efficient.   If you are serious about podcasting, check out Daniel's Podcasters' Society. This is a group of great podcasters together in a learning and sharing environment that can really help you improve your show. Daniel and I are discussing making some of my material available within Podcasters' Society each month. Give it a look.   [Find information on Daniel J. Lewis' material HERE.]       The next few guys are just a few of the guys I have used as a long-distance mentors. The books and material written by these guys have done more for my business and career than anyone I can name.     48 Days to the Work You Love – Dan Miller   Dan Miller and his book 48 Days To The Work You Love is where my journey began. Dan inspired me to pursue the work that I love. I originally discovered Dan and his work by listening to the Dave Ramsey Show.   If you are looking for your purpose, check out Dan's material. He is a true entrepreneur.   The thing I love about Dan is his simplicity. Dan isn't knee-deep in technology, like a lot of online business people. Though he has embraced the digital landscape more recently with the launch of his membership site, he is more about creating simple money-making opportunities that are right in front of us.   Whether is it reselling cars, selling digital content or running a gym, he has done it all. Dan can see a business opportunity anywhere. He has great tools to help you find your passion and the work you love.   Dan's most popular resource is "48 Low or No Cost Business Ideas". These are great. When you read this e-book, you'll say to yourself, "Why didn't I think of that?" Dan has great ideas. The inspiration is a huge bonus.   [Find information on Dan Miller's material HERE.]     Internet Business Mastery – Jeremy Frandsen & Jason Van Orden   Jason Van Orden and Jeremy Frandsen at Internet Business Mastery have great information to help turn your knowledge into a business. I first discovered them during a session at New Media Expo. That presentation turned me onto their podcast.   Internet Business Mastery is not only a great podcast, but a course that has helped me refine my business focus. Both Jeremy & Jason have launched various other businesses. They have been there and done it.   In the Internet Business Mastery Academy, you learn how to develop your ideal freedom lifestyle. That leads into your freedom business blueprint. You learn how to design your single motivating purpose, create your money magnets, develop your list and more.   This has been one of the best investments I have made. The course has really refined my business plan and philosophy. If you are building an online business, this material can help you move you forward.   [Find information on Jeremy, Jason and Internet Business Mastery HERE.]     Platform University – Michael Hyatt   Michael Hyatt and Platform University have helped me organize my message and build my platform.   I like organization. Checklists are my friend. Step-by-step processes that allow me to add some creativity on top of it are tools I enjoy.   Michael Hyatt has a great membership site with Platform University. It is based on his book Platform, which is a must read as you develop your podcast. There is great learning inside the community. He only opens membership a couple times a year for enrollment. I got in early on this one and haven't looked back since.   Inside Platform University, you will find Master Classes where Michael interviews other experts to dive deep into various subjects each month. In the Backstage Pass area, Michael shows you how he operates his platform. There are live member calls each month, member makeovers and so much more.   There is so much information inside Platform University, I don't have enough time to get through all of it each month. I use the great material I find most useful and dip into the other stuff when I find time. When I have questions about specific topics, I can usually find the answer inside Platform University.   [Find information on Michael Hyatt HERE.]         There you have six people who can help you move your podcast and business forward.   Dave Jackson can help you with the technical aspects of your show.   Daniel J.
