Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso from the SDH Network, brought to you by Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse.Atlanta United scored first, but lost control of the match with Nashville afterwards. Following the goal, Nashville outshot Atlanta 10-2 and had 70% possession. They eventually found an equalizer and the match finished in an unfulfilling 1-1 draw. Atlanta is back in action next Saturday in Chicago against the Fire, who will be missing their goalkeeper Chris Brady following his red card in the first half of the Fire's 0-0 draw with Orlando.LA Galaxy lost last night in Kansas City 1-0 even though they didn't concede a shot, the goal was an own goal in the 13th minute. The Galaxy also lost both of their star wingers, Joseph Paintsil and Gabriel Pec, due to injury. Other MLS highlights of note include Vancouver going unbeaten in 10 games after a 2-1 win over RSL, Miami bouncing back from two home losses with a win over Red Bulls, and New England keeping their hot streak going since putting Carles Gil into a free role in their 3-5-2 shape.Parity is alive and well in the NWSL as the top 8 teams are separated by 4 points. Kansas City and Orlando are tied for the top spot with 15 points so far in the season.A verdict is expected tomorrow by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in the Club Leon case against FIFA over their spot in the Club World Cup. If FIFA's ruling is upheld, then we'll see the playoff game between LAFC and Club America go ahead. The winner of that would start the tournament here in Atlanta against Chelsea on June 16. Harry Kane has finally won a trophy after almost 700 games as a pro for club and country. Of course it wasn't straightforward... Bayern drew to RB Leipzig 3-3 on a late goal from the opposition and needed Leverkusen to slip up in their game later in the day, which ended 2-2 giving Bayern the title. Two big promotions, Pisa in Italy and Paris FC in France. Pisa hasn't been in Serie A since 1991 while Paris FC hasn't played in Ligue 1 for 46 years. Nothing beats Burnley's celebrations for getting back to the Premier League, they had Natasha Bedingfield on hand to sing the unofficial promotion anthem for them "Unwritten". She sang it for the fans at Turf Moor and the squad sang it with her in the locker room.Playoffs are set in Mexico and Argentina, they'll start next weekend. Champions League in Europe returns this week with Barcelona and Inter hopeful on injury returns while PSG and Arsenal try to shake off league losses over the weekend.More Espresso Tuesday on the SDH Network, presented by Oglethorpe University.

This week, Tay is back for another girl talk episode—this time with singer-songwriter Natasha Bedingfield! She opens up about growing up in a musical family, how she found her way into music, and the role her supportive parents played in helping her pursue her dreams. Natasha shares the excitement and challenges that came with sudden fame, and how she's learned to stay grounded while on the road. We talk about the often-overlooked reality that fame and fortune don't make you immune to mental health struggles, including her personal experience with prenatal depression and the tools that helped her through it. Natasha also reflects on how motherhood has reshaped her perspective, why she once felt like she “was too much of a parent” as a child, and how she's now learning to embrace more play in her life. We're celebrating our 10th anniversary all year by digging in the vaults to re-present classic episodes with fresh commentary. Today, we're revisiting our 2020 conversation with Linda Perry.   ABOUT LINDA PERRYSinger, songwriter, musician, producer, and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Linda Perry first made her mark as an artist, serving as lead vocalist and primary songwriter of the group 4 Non Blondes, which is best known for the Top 15 pop hit “What's Up?” Following a couple of solo albums, Linda emerged as a powerhouse songwriter and producer thanks to her work on P!nk's multiplatinum Misundaztood album. The debut single, “Get The Party Started,” which Linda wrote solo, was a global smash. She followed it up with another solo-written composition, “Beautiful,” which became a chart-topping ballad for Christina Aguilera that earned a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. Subsequent chart success came with Gwen Stefani's debut solo single “What You Waiting For,” Alicia Keys's “Superwoman,” Ariana Grande's debut single “Put Your Hearts Up,” Miley Cyrus's “Hands of Love,” and additional singles for Aguilera, including the Top 10 hits “Hurt” and “Keeps Gettin' Better.” Recently, Linda collaborated with Dolly Parton on the soundtrack of the film Dumplin', including the song “Girl in the Movies,” which was nominated for both a Golden Globe and a Grammy award. Linda is a four-time Grammy nominee, including a 2019 nomination for Producer of the Year, making her the only solo female producer to ever earn a nomination for their work producing other artists. The long list of artists Linda has produced, collaborated with, or had her songs covered by include Adele, Courtney Love, Cheap Trick, Faith Hill, Britney Spears, KT Tunstall, Weezer, Pat Benetar, Solange, L.P., Joan Jett, The Chicks, Vanessa Carlton, Celine Dion, Elvis Costello, and Lady Gaga. In addition to her prolific songwriting and production activities, Perry is a multi-faceted music industry entrepreneur, having worked as a music publisher, manager, or mentor with artists such as James Blunt, Dorothy, and Natasha Bedingfield.

We had a special birthday in the Super Awesome Mix Family recently.  Our own Sam Abousalbi turned 40.  He gave us a special mix for his 40th birthday so we're running it in this feed this week.  Celebrating 40: A Musical Journey of Reflection, Growth, and New BeginningsTurning 40 is more than just a number—it's a celebration of the journey so far and the promise of what's to come. As Sam embraces this milestone birthday, he shares with Matt and the listeners a specially curated music mix that captures the essence of this new chapter. He begins with Logic's "Hallelujah," which echoes the importance of keeping an open mind.  This episode is filled with reflective insights and a touch of laughter. You'll find yourself drawn into Sam's world as he navigates the complexities of aging with inspiration and humor.  What's the secret to living in the moment and letting go of past regrets? Sam explores this question through songs that remind us of the beauty of presence and self-forgiveness. With tracks like The All-American Rejects' "Move Along," Fountains of Wayne's "All Kinds of Time," and Pearl Jam's "Present Tense," you'll uncover powerful messages about savoring the present and embracing life's pace. These songs serve as an anthem for anyone who seeks to balance life's fleeting moments with thoughtful reflection.  As the episode unfolds, Sam delves into the duality of life, highlighting growth and the balance between light and dark. "Let Go" by Frou Frou and Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten" inspire us to view life as an open canvas, full of potential and new beginnings. The exploration continues with Moby's "Run On" and Pink Floyd's masterpieces "Brain Damage" and "Eclipse," celebrating the artistry that captures both the light and shadow of the human experience. I rarely get a chance to stretch my after-hours musical muscles. I've probably played about 10 GUAPO PV events in Puerto Vallarta over the past 5 years but haven't yet posted one of my sets from here in Mexico. This one, however, felt special. (full disclosure: last year's NYE set didn't record due to a technical glitch)… but this set is me at my best… I am very proud of it. I put a lot of thought into all of my sets, especially for the JUICY and DEEP parties I've played in PV the last two years and I'm so excited to share this 3 hr+ one with the world. It's mostly a tech house set and the energy I got from the crowd all night was unparalleled. I saw so many wonderful friends out there all night as I looked around. If there was a main theme for the night's journey, it was my trademark sound of going “a little bit old school”... l always love sharing classics with the younger generation. You'll hear tracks (some, the originals… others, updates) like David Bowie's “Let's Dance” and Danny Tenaglia's “Elements” (both in my Intro), Honey Dijon's update of Kevin Aviance's “Cunty,” Technotronic's “Pump Up The Jam,” Alesso's new update on “Owner Of A Lonely Heart” by Yes, Size 9's “I Am Ready,” my PV update that I've played the past few years of Sweet Pussy Pauline's “Work This Pussy,” Butch's “No Worries,” Submission's “Women Beat Their Men,” Basement Jaxx's “Fly Life,” two versions mixed together of Shakedown's “At Night,” Peter Rauhofer's classic “Miracle” Mix” of Mariah's “We Belong Together,” (a remix I only save for very special occasions) - samples of Aretha, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Alanis Morissette, Natasha Bedingfield, Vicki Sue Robinson, Kiss - and two songs from The Beatles (I'll let “which two” be a surprise as you listen). There are more classics sprinkled throughout, as well as 5 or 6 of my own remixes or private edits.Another theme on this journey was “loneliness” - a feeling I battled hard in 2024, as so many of us have - and that many DJ friends of mine struggle with. This set is a reminder that music can always be there to carry us through and that none of us is truly ever alone. As the sun was rising from 7:30-8am, I switched gears to deliver a little magic for everyone who stayed ‘til the end. I ended my set (well, the 2nd to last song) with a new little edit I whipped up over the past two weeks of “Defying Gravity.” (which I'm still tinkering around with)... and the crowd reaction truly was everything I'd hoped for in that morning moment. Thank you to the entire GUAPO PV team for having me back again. Thank you to DJ Autogyro for starting the night with an amazing opening set. I hope everyone has a chance to enjoy this set for years to come. Please share it on social or leave a Comment if you do. I took the second half of 2024 off from DJing, (due to other life commitments) But I'm coming back strong in 2025. I'm now working with Javier Simons at Koq Agency for bookings. https://koqagency.com/ … and here's where you can hear me in the coming months!Jan 17th/18th - Aspen Gay Ski Week (Limelight apres skis)Jan 19th - The Chapel at the Abbey, West HollywoodFeb 1st - The Cuff Complex, SeattleFeb 15th - Afterglow, X Bar, Denver March 13th - Elevation gay ski week, Mammoth

Her crossover success in Japan, India, China and across Southeast Asia was pretty much unheard of. Thanks in huge part to her fun signature banger and your new favourite bratty anthem: ‘Sexy, Naughty, Bitchy' (co-written by legendary pop songwriter Savan Kotecha, who has worked with Ariana Grande, Britney, One Direction, and Dannii Minogue).   Tata's catalogue of English tunes is top-tier, as she brings her Main Pop Girl Energy to songs that would be released in the West by Ashley Tisdale, The Cheetah Girls, Play and more. The writing credits on her three English albums read like a ‘who's who' of RBAY! royalty - Jamelia, Leona Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield, Samantha Jade etc.  If you're liking this ‘Discovering' concept - let Joel and David know in the comments who you'd like us to cover next!  Follow Right Back At Ya! https://www.instagram.com/rightbackpod/ https://twitter.com/rightbackpod https://www.facebook.com/rightbackpod Follow Joel https://www.instagram.com/dr_joelb/ https://twitter.com/DR_JoelB Follow David https://www.instagram.com/lovelimmy/ https://twitter.com/lovelimmy Email us rightbackpod@gmail.com

This week, an excellent 2005 interview with Roger Hodgson, as he reflects on the glory days of Supertramp, his post-breakup years and his relationship with his former bandmates.  Roger also tells the very entertaining stories behind two of Supertramp's biggest hits.            We also have Tom's chat with the wonderful Natasha Bedingfield from the early 2000s.  Natasha is a very good singer and songwriter – and we do a pretty deep dive in a very short time.  And at least once per show, we usually mention how likeable an artist is – and Natasha is this week's MLA – Most Likeable Artist.            Last season, we did a couple of in-depth episodes about Soul & R&B music – and they were a lot of fun.  Since then, we have discovered another half-dozen soul artists that had massive hits in the ‘70s – and so we've put a bit of a highlight reel together to put the spotlight on these artists that no longer get the attention they deserve.            And finally… what was it like to live in the shadow of a Beatle?  We have two fascinating interviews – one with Yoko Ono – talking specifically about the haunting song that she and John Lennon were working on the night of his death.  And we have Julian Lennon talking about the complicated relationship he had with his dad, and how he and Yoko finally managed to make peace.  These are short clips, but very revealing.   Famous Lost Words, hosted by Christopher Ward and Tom Jokic, is heard in more than 100 countries worldwide and on radio stations across Canada, including Newstalk 1010 Toronto, CJAD 800 Montreal, 580 CFRA Ottawa, AM 800 CKLW Windsor, 610 CKTB St Catharines, CFAX Victoria, AM1150 Kelowna and 91x in Belleville.  It is in the Top 20% of worldwide podcasts based on the number of listeners in the first week.

This week, we took over a high school homecoming, and let me tell you, after hearing about the DJ disaster they had last year, I knew I had to swoop in and save the day. Last year's guy played all the wrong songs, capped the night with Mamba—which, I mean, why? So, they canned him and called in the pro (yours truly). The kids? They had a blast. I'm talking, Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield brought the house down. You know you've hit the right note when an entire room of teenagers collectively loses their minds two seconds into a song. Then came Since U Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson, because obviously, you can't go wrong with early 2000s anthems at a 2024 homecoming. These kids? They get it. Who knew? But, let's get to the meat of this episode. We're in the final stretch, people—the 2024 election is less than 20 days away. And let's be real, nobody has any idea who they're voting for. We've got Zaddy Trumpets out here spinning his usual “policies” (read: nonsense). He's supposed to be answering questions at a town hall but ends up playing DJ with his summer playlist while people literally pass out from heat exhaustion. Instead of answering questions like a normal candidate, he's out here doing the YMCA for 40 minutes straight. I mean, what are we doing? But the highlight? Trump's diving into crypto now—yep, you heard me. He's promoting some sketchy token called “Liberty Financial.” Look, if you're feeling adventurous, go ahead and dump your entire savings into it, but I wouldn't recommend it (not financial advice, wink, wink). The best part? You can't even withdraw your money until the “scheme”—I mean, system—decides you can. Yeah, read the fine print, folks. Meanwhile, Elon Musk is jumping on the Trump train, donating millions and becoming Trump's new bestie after they were practically enemies a few weeks ago. Musk is now campaigning in Pennsylvania like he's the freaking Director of Government Efficiency, which is a real job title Trump invented just for him. Honestly, the whole thing is starting to feel like a crossover episode of The Apprentice and Shark Tank. And if all that wasn't enough, we've got Ice Cube dropping new music—yes, that Ice Cube. The man who hasn't rapped in forever decided now is the time. I don't think anyone's listening to it, but hey, props to him for trying. Exhibit's also crawling out of retirement with a new album on a record label run by… wait for it… Conor McGregor. Yes, because when I think “music mogul,” I totally think “MMA fighter.” What are we doing? Oh, and shoutout to Dasani. They're back with a new formula—now without salt. Yes, that's right. The selling point for water is that it finally doesn't have salt in it. What a groundbreaking concept. Welcome to 2024, people. That's it for this week. It's all a mess, and I'm just here trying to make sense of it. If you haven't subscribed to the YouTube channel yet, what are you even doing? See you next week for more chaos. Another shared link is that we are both currently on a new adventure with songs we brought out originally in our early 20s! How's that for a coincidence? We've each been on an unexpected and exciting journey with our old songs... both because of recent films. The film 'Anyone but You' featured Natasha's 'Unwritten' which originally charted nearly 20 years ago. And my adventure has been because of 'Murder on the Dancefloor' being used to great effect in 'Saltburn'. Natasha talked about her place in her own family's politics, where her brother Daniel was the first to get into the music industry. Natasha had to fight to pursue her music career; in her family's eyes, that 'place' had already been taken by her sibling! (Sidenote: Daniel's debut single 'Gotta Get Thru This' kept Murder off the top spot in the charts 22 years ago - not that I'm holding a grudge or anything, Daniel!)Natasha has a little boy who is now 6. When he was 2, he was taken seriously ill with a spontaneous brain abscess He had to have two surgeries and was in hospital for 5 weeks. Thankfully there was a cure and he is fully recovered, but the time he was in hospital was obviously an extremely difficult period for Natasha and her husband. Natasha remembers having to perform a gig while her son was still in hospital. She shared how terribly difficult that was, and how in a room full of small talk she would suddenly blurt out 'My son's in hospital!'.On a lighter note (pun intended) Natasha and I talked about how having a baby changed our singing range - for the better! And we agreed that we are both really enjoying the new ride with our old songs from the early 2000s.Spinning Plates is presented by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, produced by Claire Jones and post-production by Richard Jones Hosted on Acast. What do you want to say that you're not saying? After decades in the music industry Natasha Bedingfield has learnt from experience that being true to ourselves has to be more important than being liked. In this chat, Fearne and Natasha explore practical ways to speak up and assert yourself, with Natasha drawing inspiration from the way legends like Tina Turner physically take control of their voice in order to be seen and heard. Plus, not concerned by prescriptive parenting guidelines, they share their own unique techniques, proving every family should feel able to live by the rules that make most sense to all the individual characters in the mix.
