Notre Dame travels to Arkansas to face the Razorbacks in an ABC-televised game kicking off at 11 Central in Week 5 of the 2025 college football season. Jay Greeson and Chris Lee preview the game, with topics including: Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green is a one-man wrecking crew who can win games with outstanding performances. But the Razorbacks have to stop shooting themselves in the foot with turnovers and untimely penalties. Notre Dame was torched by Texas A&M's Marcel Reed in the passing game two weeks ago, providing some hopes for an Arkansas upset. The Razorbacks were also awful against the run vs. Memphis, and now face one of the country's top running backs in Jeremiyah Love. Statistically, Arkansas's defense is better than Notre Dame's in some categories, but the Fighting Irish's schedule has included Miami and Texas A&M. With coach Sam Pittman on the hot set, is a home game here the best or worst thing that could happen to Arkansas? And how much are the Razorbacks bought into playing for Pittman? Finally, the Irish have to win this one to stand any chance to make the Playoff. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Auburn travels to Texas A&M to face a hot Aggies team that's unbeaten coming off a bye week on the heels of an upset at Notre Dame. Southeastern 16's Jay Greeson and Chris Lee preview the game, with topics including: Auburn has some strengths (rushing offense, rushing defense) where the Aggies have not performed up to expectations in the run game. That makes controlling the tempo with running back Jeremiah Cobb a key for the Tigers to pull an upset. On the other hand, A&M quarterback Marcel Reed has been great at generating big plays, whereas Auburn's Jackson Arnold has struggled to take advantage of the team's elite receiving talent (Arnold was sacked nine times in a loss at Oklahoma). A&M also has big-time receiving play-makers in KC Concepcion and Mario Craver. Auburn's struggled in the kicking game, which could be key in what might be a one-score game. However, the Tigers have only turned the ball over once all year against an A&M defense that has forced only two. Week 3 delivered the kind of college football chaos we live for, and we're here to break it all down. We witnessed Texas A&M pull off a stunning road upset at Notre Dame in a 41-40 thriller that came down to the final seconds, with Marcel Reed and the Aggies finding a way to steal one in South Bend. The madness didn't stop there. We saw Georgia Tech shock Clemson on a walk-off 55-yard field goal, LSU's defense stifle Florida's DJ Lagway in a 20-10 win, and the next chapter in Vanderbilt's surprising start with a dominant road win at South Carolina. From the SEC's wild weekend to surprising performances across every conference, we're breaking down all the biggest storylines, unexpected heroes, and what it all might for the playoff picture. Richard and Alex preview the SEC for the 2025 season: * Texas has everything it needs to make a deep playoff run * Georgia has a few more questions, especially at QB, but (this will shock you) looks like a frontline contender once again * Alabama is back, per Richard * LSU has championship upside, but will the defense be good or great? * South Carolina has a huge star at QB and another at EDGE. The rest of the roster is more open to interpretation, but one of us is optimistic * Florida has DJ Lagway, and that counts for a lot * Ole Miss faces a QB transition, but there's reason to be optimistic. Will the defense keep chugging after a bunch of losses? * Texas A&M will run over you and play solid defense. How serious will Marcel Reed and the wide receivers be? * Tennessee's best side of the ball probably isn't offense * Oklahoma has some elite talent and some splashy portal additions, and Richard thinks this might work out * Auburn might have the best receivers in the conference and has a bunch of young players that flashed last year. What about the weird QB situation? * Mizzou is building its roster effectively but has some substantial losses to contend with, and it doesn't sound like a great QB room* Vanderbilt will probably move backward, but the ‘Dores have made progress* Arkansas faces another year of coaching carousel questions * Kentucky appears to be a bad situation * Mississippi State is a bit more interesting but faces a long slog After going through each team, the group awards preseason honors: The Split Zone Duo Dude of the Year, the Low-Key Cool Game of the Year, and the Coach Who's Not Gonna Be Here Next Year Award. The Solid Verbal: SEC Preview Part 3 - The Wild Cards We close out our three-part SEC preview by taking a closer look at Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Arkansas, South Carolina, Auburn, and Vanderbilt. In this college football preview episode, we ask burning questions about eight SEC teams that could swing wildly in either direction this season. Is Florida poised for a big jump with a (finally) healthy DJ Lagway navigating one of the most brutal schedules in the country? Will the addition of quarterback John Mateer and offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle lead Oklahoma back to prominence, or is their monster schedule too much to overcome? Is 2025 a stepback year for Josh Heupel and Tennessee after losing key offensive pieces, or can their elite defense carry them? We examine Texas A&M as a legitimate playoff contender behind Marcel Reed's dual-threat ability and a physical rushing attack that could punish teams late in games. We discuss whether Sam Pittman can do enough to keep his job at Arkansas with Taylen Green leading a completely revamped receiving corps and a defense that struggled mightily in pass coverage. We analyze if LaNorris "The Creator" Sellers and pass-rushing phenom Dylan Stewart have enough of a supporting cast around them to lift South Carolina after massive bigtime turnover. Plus, we debate how much we should believe in Jackson Arnold's fresh start at Auburn with an elite receiving corps but lingering questions about offensive line stability, and what to make of Vanderbilt, which brings back tons of production from their magical 2024 season but will no longer be able to fly under the radar. From Florida's injury concerns to A&M's playoff potential to Vandy's encore attempt, this is your guide to the SEC's X-factors that could completely change the conference landscape.
