Brian had the pleasure of interviewing Vincent Salzillo, President of Double Exposure, Inc. His company organizes Gen Con events such as First Exposure Playtest Hall and the new First Encounter Designer Showcase (publisher speed dating) events. They also organize conventions such as DEXCON, DREAMATION, and METATOPIA. Plus they run the Envoy programs. It's a lot! Bill and I had a great time at the Dreamation RPG convention last week in Morristown. I was able to play or run seven games and all of them were a blast. This show is about a Dungeon World adventure I ran. Bill pointed out that he runs split parties differently than I do, and I think his method is better! Rather than run scenes sequentially, as I have been doing, he runs them simultaneously. This is our discussion about that. The episode runs at approximately 56 minutes. Enjoy the show!Mel
This was a very special week for us. Not only were we able to come together for the first time in nearly three months at Dreamation 2015 in Morristown, NJ, but we had the opportunity to play a number of fantastic new games, including our feature review for this week’s episode, Between Two Cities. This week we also discuss the ridiculous grabs we made at the convention auction and some of the other games we got to the table, including Roll for the Galaxy, Pandemic Survival, and Diamonds. We had a blast and are extremely excited for the next Double Exposure convention in April, Maelstrom.
This week Chris and Daniel get together to compare two dungeon crawling, friend stabbing good times in Boss Monster (with the Tools of Hero Kind expansion) vs. Munchkin Deluxe. They also discuss recent plays of Dungeons & Dragons tth Edition and Amun-Re, and discuss some of what they're excited to see in the weeks to come, including new D&D 5E accessories, the Boss Monster video game and more. 02:38 – Shout it from the Tabletop: D&D 5 Edition: Player Feedback & Dreamation 2015 8:48 – Acquisition Disorder Corner: D&D 5 Edition: Accessories: DM Screen & Spell Cards. Hi! This is the first episode here at the new site! I am excited to be publishing these podcasts again after a long hiatus. Thanks to all who have been waiting for Virtual Play to resume--as I've said before--both of you! In this episode, Bill and I talk about a few of the games we played at Dreamation 2014. The show includes excerpts from Dungeon Crawl Classics, Ashen Stars, and Trail of Cthulhu. The focus of the show is on the use of flashbacks and other time manipulation as a technique for adventure design. Our discussion also includes a few minutes on a Traveller adventure I ran, but we have no excerpt because I lost the SD card. Drat! The episode clocks in at 75 minute--a little longer than usualI think it's worth it. Enjoy the show! Mel

In this debut segment of "In the Lab", Fred runs a complete game of Escape or Die! at Dreamation 2008. You may recognize podcasters Remi Treuer (of the Durham Three) and Rob Bohl (of the Independent Insurgency) as two of the player voices. Escape or Die! is currently in playtest and has a few hurdles to cross before publication, but you should be able to get a pretty good idea of how it plays from listening to this. The idea is simple: you're in a highly lethal escape movie where the only options are, indeed, to escape or die. The catch with the game is that it's run on the clock, putting a lot of pressure on players to narrate circumstances and push their characters forward quickly before their doom catches up with them. In play, this makes the game almost a "real-time RPG", in that it lasts about as long as the movies it emulates. Like a big dork, I turned off the recorder before I got a bunch of feedback from the folks who played -- but I got a chance later in the weekend (unrecorded) to put a few of their suggestions into practice to good effect.
(40min 30sec) Fred returns to talk about the first two episodes of the TV show, hints at some upcoming news about White Night, fails to get Jim on the line due to a deadline, and touches on his experience at Dreamation 2007.
