During the podcast we will discuss all the releases that are part of our core DNA, as well as many lesser-known releases that deserve a second chance, or releases that we are discovering for the very first time (we actually don't know Mojack!). Furniture and decor trends can be tempting. But trends peak then inevitably decline; after just a few years, our choices re: side lamps, accent chairs and everything in between often become (gasp!) outdated. It's true: hopping on and off the trend bandwagon can leave us broke and wasteful. On today's show interior designer Betsy Helmuth first offers this spring's biggest decor trends, then together we make them eco-conscious.Here's a preview of the spring decor trends we're tweaking today:[4:30] Moody maximalist wall colors[9:00] Large-scale natural stone[14:00] Embellished window treatments[22:00] Doorknobs, pulls, and other metal finishes[30:00] Statement lamps Resources mentioned:Van Deusen Blue paint by Benjamin MooreRub and BuffCoolKnobsAndPulls.comEpisode #239: How To Find Your Home Decor StyleAnnie Sloan chalk paintJoin our (free!) Many of us struggle to make conversation with people because we don't know the difference between 'givers' and 'takers.' This is, in part, the reason that some conversations feel effortlessly fascinating while others feel dry and unpleasant. In this episode, I'll be sharing an interesting perspective that could help you to communicate more effectively with people and have better conversations.Support this podcast with a monthly subscription and get access to bonus podcast episodes, advanced PDF vocabulary guides, and our private conversation group on Discord!

Interview With: @louis.eager Louis Eager is a multi-disciplinary designer and maker working within the realms of furniture, products, and occasionally clothing. He tends to art-direct his projects with the use of photography and drawing to communicate ideas. Describing himself as an Adhocist and often making things using readymades or found objects. He uses these objects in new contexts to challenge the way people perceive the made world. Eager's designs are in the realm of ready-made and garner around the concept of making us humans question things and expand the way we tend to think. His works show the multiple ways we can take advantage of things that seem useless to a majority of people and bring out new mental passages of through within a physical object. He has recently finished his degree project called “Doorknobs, Bath Plugs and Flamingoes” which acts as manifesto for future work involving Adhocism and working with readymades. Topics we touch on: personifying inanimate objects, revaluing standard things, being cautious of “sustainable design”, the crossover between furniture and art --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/10p/message

On this episode of Mokey Don't we have our old friend Adam Gabel (@ajgabel). We talk to him about his problem with aging and losing his sight. Then we help out our audience with their problems with lack of sleep, wardrobe malfunctions, and coming out to your father.
Thank you very much for allowing me an additional week to work on the many projects I have going on right now, including today's story for the podcast. Never a dull moment here.I promised you a story about flowers, pathogens and bees, and that's exactly what I have to share with you today. I had the incredible good fortune of speaking with both Lynn Adler from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Laura Figueroa from Cornell University on the exact same day about the role flowers play in spreading disease among bees. It was like binge watching everything we currently know about this aspect of the bee-flower relationship. Lots of information. Very satisfying. And I will do my best to summarize it all in four key points.Lynn Adler• Disease where you dine: plant species and floral traits associated with pathogen transmission in bumble bees (2018) https://bit.ly/3h26nzt• Flowering plant composition shapes pathogen infection intensity and reproduction in bumble bee colonies (2020) https://bit.ly/2z7zUqq• Science Poetry @Science_PoetryLaura Figueroa• Landscape simplification shapes pathogen prevalence in plant-pollinator networks (2020) https://bit.ly/2XE3EVaWEEKLY UPDATE#BlackInNature #BlackInSTEM #DiversityInSTEM #BlackEcologists #BlackBirdersWeekBeing black while in nature: 'You're an endangered species' (The Guardian) https://bit.ly/3gVd7iGBlack Ecologists statement (Twitter @BEcologists) https://bit.ly/2BE2PDvWhy black lives matter to entomology (Entomological Society of America) https://bit.ly/377GwByWe speak their names: statement of solidarity for racial justice (Xerces Society) https://bit.ly/2A6LyCuJudge rejects Trump administration attempt to toss endangered species lawsuit (The Hill)https://bit.ly/3eYQfx5Trump administration makes major changes to protections for endangered species (NPR) https://n.pr/2UgF3Uy17 states sue feds over Endangered Species Act rules (AP) https://bit.ly/3dyJUYKBees grooming each other can boost colony immunity (EurekAlert/University College of London) https://bit.ly/30cbLdlOnce is enough for long-term memory formation in bees (The Scientist) https://bit.ly/2UihjiVA call to refocus away from bowl traps and towards more effective methods of bee monitoring (Annals of the Entomological Society of America) https://bit.ly/2XE2V6oSTAY CONNECTEDSubscribe to the Bee Report Podcast.
