In this episode I'm joined by The Blind Sea writer, director and editor Daniel Fenech, and the film's main man, Matt Formston. The Blind Sea follows Matt on his quest for sporting greatness to new heights, setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest wave surfed by a vision impaired male. Matt is a four time para surfing World Champion, former Paralympic Cyclist and World Champion. At the age of five, Matt was diagnosed with Macular Dystrophy, a rare eye condition that left him two life-changing things: 3% vision, and a desire ever since to do what everyone else says can't be done. Daniel Fenech is an award-winning director with over 15 years production experience in commercials, music videos and documentary style content. Daniel's most recent film prior to this was Christmess which he co-produced with the film's writer and director, Heath Davis. The Blind Sea is one of the most compassionate, moving and visually breathtaking documentaries I've seen in years. Matt's journey is nothing short of awe-inspiring and he's also very personable which makes The Blind Sea an even more enjoyable film to watch. Before we jump into it, I need to let you know I did have some recording issues at the very beginning of this episode and I missed out on the introduction, so if it feels like we jump strait into it, that's when the recording began. Bank stocks and regional bank stocks in particular have rallied over the last month and there is further room to run, according to Joe Fenech, Chief Investment Officer at Gen Opp Capital Management. In the episode, Fenech said that sentiment towards bank stocks is improving and that the long bear market in bank stocks ended in May 2023. The investor argued that the recapitalization of New York Community Bancorp earlier in 2024 could serve as the turning point of this investment cycle now that “smart money” has rescued one of the sector's biggest problems. He also sees net interest margin pressure easing and eventually becoming a tailwind for banks and argued that not all commercial real estate (CRE) loans should be seen as high risk and resulting in sizable losses. He also believes M&A activity will increase, driven by succession issues and the need for scale and technology investment.

TRIGGER WARNING: BOTH FILMS CONTAIN SCENES OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AND IT IS DISCUSSEDTHE STRANGE VICE OF MRS. WARDH, 1971, has all the hallmarks of classic Giallo of the era: straight razors, bizarre plots with a central mystery whose solving makes little sense, sex, masked killers, turtlenecks, along with extremely attractive men and women who all get a red herring scene where they might be the killer, or a scene where they are killed. Sometimes both! Also in keeping with Giallo films of the era, this one had about seventeen alternate titles depending where it was released or re-released.YOUR VICE IS A LOCKED ROOM AND ONLY I HAVE THE KEY (1972) is a title taken from a note delivered to Mrs. Wardh in the previous film but has nothing to do with the previous film - except the director Martino and genre superstar Edwige Fenech. This one is based on an Edgar Allen Poe story? Maybe? All we know is there is plenty of J&B product placements, sex, amorality, dirt bike racing, a cat meowing and so many reversals and reveals good luck keeping track. Kate Fenech is a 15 year old student who's found herself part of the extraordinary SS4C movement (the School Strikes for Climate), with growing passions for marine science and regenerative farming. I met her when we were both late conscripts to a premiere screening of Regenerating Australia in Busselton, WA, that ended up becoming a unique post-film dialogue. The film's director, Damon Gameau, was a late withdrawal, as was young activist and author, Bella Burgemeister. So Kate and I stepped into the breach, and that seemed to set up a vibe among the 75 or so people present of, ‘well I guess it's just us!' And to tell you the truth, for a while, I wondered if the whole thing was going to bomb. I've never hosted an event with an audience that was so pin-drop quiet.
