Kliq This: The Kevin Nash Podcast

This week on Kliq This. Kevin Nash and Sean Oliver engage in a lively discussion, covering a diverse range of topics. They begin with an analysis of a controversial NFL game between the Lions and Dallas, where Kevin expresses his frustration over a particularly unfair call, underscoring that while bad officiating is part of the game, some instances stand out for their egregiousness. The conversation then shifts to wrestling, where Kevin lists his "Mount Rushmore of Managers," including Bobby Heenan, Jim Cornette, Paul Heyman, and Fred Blassie, highlighting their unique contributions to the sport. A surprising revelation comes when Kevin mentions he no longer possesses any of his iconic Diesel gear, having disposed of it over time due to deterioration or by giving it away. The podcast also features a segment called "Dear Sexy," where Kevin offers candid advice on dealing with a creepy neighbor and a publicly embarrassing husband. His straightforward responses reflect his no-nonsense attitude. The episode concludes with fan questions, touching on whether Bobby Heenan was ever considered for the NWO and Kevin's childhood memories of the Sheik's territory in Detroit. He nostalgically recalls watching big-time wrestling and remembers various wrestlers from that era. Throughout the episode, Kevin and Sean maintain a balance of humor, nostalgia, and insightful commentary on wrestling and beyond. Stop throwing your money on rent! Today kicks off part one of our next major profile legacy series, which focuses on Shohei Baba, known widely as Giant Baba. In this dense first episode, Fumi & Justin first talked about Baba's experience growing up in Niigata and and the onset of his acromegaly. Later on, they went over how he and Motoko Baba met; Motoko would become his wife from when she was in her late teens until he passed, but not before years of successful promoting whom he'd later co-promote AJPW with him.  After pitching for the Yomiuri Giants for five years, Baba then became one of Rikidozan's first disciples (alongside the younger Inoki) for JWA. Baba became Rikidozan's “Golden Ace,” and soon sent him over to the Great Togo to work all over the US and Canada regulalrly in the early 60s. We talked about Baba vs the likes of Buddy Rogers, Bruno Sammartino, Lou Thesz, Fred Blassie, etc., and Baba as the barefoot heel “Baba the Giant” who'd go on to work 16 consecutive MSG shows back in the day. We also talked about his important relationship with Fred Atkins in Toronto.  Questions or comments? Turnbuckle Turmoil is proud to salute America's military. We will be joined by wrestlers that represent each branch of our armed forces and talk about the link between wrestling and serving in the military. Wrestling has always had wrestlers that showed off the military uniforms on the way to the ring such as Sgt. Slaughter, Cpl. Kirschner, Fred Blassie, and Ranger Ross. We've also had countless wrestlers that came to the sport out of the military such as Verne Gagne, Lou Thesz, Jesse Ventura, and Randy Orton. Today we'll have wrestlers that have proudly served us in the military in addition to entertaining us in the ring. We'll do our best to bestow our great appreciation to them.

The podcast with the biggest spaldings presents a review of the 1998 Royal Rumble - Part 1 - as we talk about the show that kicked off the Wrestlemania season that would eventually lead to WWF taking the lead in the Monday Night War - Its KAYFABULOUS! Maybe not the best show, but certainly an important historical show, and yes, MIKE TYSON is here to save the day! We'll talk about WWF's brilliant booking of Steve Austin as a babyface and a lesson on what top faces should be, as well as their strange booking of a few characters during the time. So join that young and hungry tiger Brandon Draven and me as we look back at the entire undercard including the LOD vs. NOA feud, Vader and Goldust, Midgets and Women consolidated into one segment that made Fred Blassie proud, The Rock starts to show boatloads of main event charisma and his feud with Ken Wayne Shamrock, and MORE! Welcome to the Wrestling Viewpoint Network; where we celebrate the Great American Art Form of Professional Wrestling, not bury it in dirt. WVN is not just one digital broadcast. This is a series of shows exploring, discussing, and celebrating wrestling from present day to well into the past. Our flagship show is California Classic Wrestling hosted by Dan Farren with Ken Napzok. Here you will get to explore the rich, yet often overlooked, history of professional wrestling in California. In this episode, Dan and Ken discuss what is considered the most important card in the history of Southern California wrestling: The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum show on August 27th, 1971 which featured Fred Blassie versus John Tolos in an explosive main event. Dan explains the build, the event, and the legacy of this supershow. Learn all about on the second edition of California Classic Wrestling presented by the Wrestling Viewpoint Network.
