There is no way this could be anything less than a masterpiece… This week, Kyle subjected us to 2000's head-scratchingly-titled BRUISER, in which a meek magazine editor gets a chance to knock off everyone who has ever inconvenienced him thanks to his crappy boss's wife and her low-level mask-making skills. While the movie itself isn't great, it took us on a real journey discussing the underlying social issues it tried to comment on. Was it successful? Steve Layman visits with Delta Dental of Tennessee Senior Vice President, Brand Experience Missy Acosta to celebrate the longstanding partnership between Belmont Athletics and Delta Dental of Tennessee. Layman and Acosta discuss the importance of wearing mouthguards during sport competition as Delta Dental is a leading advocate for Youth Sports Safety Month during April. Acosta praised Belmont coaches, such as Casey Alexander and Bart Brooks, as being generous partners to amplify the Delta Dental message, and the synergy between the Belmont University and Delta Dental missions. Layman and Acosta also discussed Delta Dental's far-reaching presence on the Belmont campus, including the lobby of the Crockett Center for Athletic Excellence, and basketball gameday in the Curb Event Center. For instance, Delta Dental mascot Marshall Molar is friends with Belmont mascot, Bruiser, and that has led to wonderful memories for children and families. It was a game full of drama, but one which Arsenal controlled, and they were worthy winners both on the night and over the two legs. Then in Part Two, we head to San Siro, where a full-blooded, full-throttle affair between Inter and Bayern Munich ended in a 2-2 draw, sending Inter through to the final four with a 4-3 aggregate win. We explore why Inter are so good at getting back up when they've been punched, and how their experience in the dugout helped them see out this tie with another very impressive performance both defensively and offensively. It's Ranks! Stuffing a big engine into a small car has been a formula for success throughout the history of the automobile. Oldsmobile stuffed its new overhead-valve V8 into its 88. Later, Pontiac stuffed 389 cubic inches worth of V8 into a Tempest. While this trend never really went away, it did change – turbocharged, smaller displacement engines squeeze more oomph out of smaller displacements. That said, Lexus looked at its parts catalog, saw the 5.0-liter V8 was available, and stuffed it into the small IS sedan. Of course, there was more to the mating of this 5.0-liter V8 and this small sedan, but it does follow the same formula as some of the most beloved muscle machines of yore. This '24 Lexus IS 500 sends 472 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission. From there, power shuffles to the IS 500's rear axle, only.  On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren hops behind the wheel of the 2024 Lexus IS 500 and puts it through its paces. Wren takes you on a guided tour of the '24 IS 500 and highlights some of his favorite features. Later in the show, Wren takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Wren chats with Autoweek's Patrick Carone about the Lexus IS, this V8-powered version, and how it compares to the competitive set. Closing the show, the pair breaks down what makes this 2024 Lexus Is 500 special.

Ann Hodges was taking a nap on her sofa when she did something that other people just sing about: She caught a falling star. Or to be more accurate, a falling star caught her. It left a big bruise on her hip and turned her into a media celebrity – 70 years ago today. The “falling star” was an eight-and-a-half-pound meteorite – a cosmic rock that had been orbiting the Sun. It was part of a larger rock that plunged into the atmosphere on November 30th, 1954, creating a streak of light that was visible across three states. The rock exploded while it was still high in the air. One fragment took aim at a house near the Comet Drive-In Theater in Sylacauga, Alabama. It blasted through the roof, bounced off the floor and a radio, and smacked into Hodges. The story made national headlines, and Life magazine published a picture of Hodges and her bruise. Reports of meteorites hitting buildings or cars aren’t that rare. Neither are stories of meteorites landing near people. But it is rare for a meteorite to actually hit a person. There are accounts of meteorites killing people in some old records in China and elsewhere, but scientists haven’t confirmed those reports. The Alabama impact was easy to document because scientists could see the bruise, the meteorite, and the hole in the roof. This week on the Pennsylvania Woodsman we are back with part 2 of our conversation with Cole Seitzinger in what we are calling a "Dream Season". If you missed last week, Cole shares his 2023 PA P&Y buck kill and the obstacles experienced along the way. It was 8 days later Cole was able to lay hands on his target 150 class buck in the Prairie State. However, the theme of overcoming obstacles remains in place! Despite initial setbacks and doubts, Cole's wife encouraged him to go on his Illinois hunt after a 12-year hiatus, arriving a day late due to family obligations. Cole bounced around the farm until landing in a tree that proved to be successful. Initially, the wind kept him from hunting his primary target location. The tree he picked was a good distance away but allowed him to observe from a distance. The power of November had his target buck on his feet, which just happened to cruise by his tree in bow range mid-morning. Lots of lessons learned from stand selection and shot placement, to tracking, trusting your instincts, and sharing memories made in the field. Danny Brown started his career in 2007 by handing out mixtapes in Detroit, where he's from. In 2011, he put out his acclaimed second album, XXX. Since then, he's collaborated with rappers like Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky and JPEGMafia, but he's also worked with electronic bands like Purity Ring and The Avalanches, and he did a verse on a remix for Korn. When I first heard him, around when XXX came out, I was really drawn to his voice. And I also appreciated that, given how young so many artists are now when they get really famous, Danny Brown's career really started taking off in his 30s. He put out his sixth album, Quaranta, in 2023. And for this episode, I talked to him about one of the songs from that album, called “Y.B.P.," which features guest vocals from Bruiser Wolf.
