Are you searching for ways to stand out from your competition? Niching down is one way to do it, but that alone might not necessarily cut it when it comes to getting noticed. One school of thought drilling down even more in a technology or service vertical. And don't underestimate how far genuine honesty and asking the right questions will take you when it comes to earning authority and trust. Adam Pearce and Peter Gardner are the CVO and CEO of Blend Commerce, an e-commerce customer experience agency for Shopify businesses. Adam and Peter believe that Customer Experience (CX) is the cornerstone of both customer acquisition and long-term customer retention. They focus obsessively on improving clients' CX pre-, during-, and post-purchase. They've been through some rocky years as they grew their agency but the real change began once they learned to see each others' strengths and built a community of agency owners willing to help each other. In this interview, we'll discuss: Figuring out your agency's direction and niche. Developing strategic partners and allies instead of competing. 4 tips to build client trust and stand out from the competition. Tough Lessons About Working with an Agency Business Partner Neither Adam nor Peter were working in e-commerce when they first met through their wives. They both had the idea of starting their own businesses and found the right vehicle when they learned about something called Shopify. Adam was a bit skeptical at first, but he joined Peter and they started their agency journey with Peter in charge of development while Adam handled marketing. Seven years later, they have grown from a team of three to 20 people. They've seen some rocky times in their agency, of course. One thing they wish they would've learned sooner was understanding each other better. Failing to do so sooner was the root of most of their problems. They'd always been clear about what they wanted to achieve with the agency but they both had very different ideas about how to get there. Adam is a very structured thinker and planner while Peter is more of an idea man. They were pretty much opposites in that sense, which is why they clashed. The light bulb moment came once they realized rather than getting upset at each other for doing things differently, they could just work on different parts of the business while aiming for the same goal. Is Choosing a Niche Enough to Help You Stand Out? The answer is: not necessarily. Picking a niche is an important part of your digital agency growth. Many agencies start doing a little bit of everything and eventually specialize in something they're great at. Picking a vertical like WordPress or Shopify usually depends on getting an early start. For instance, just picking Shopify as a niche won't cut it nowadays because the market is saturated. When Adam and Peter first started they were one of maybe two agencies in that niche. Now there are many and as a result, they've had to niche down further. They niched down in the service offering by moving more into the retention side. Now they see themselves as a customer experience agency and focus more on the long-term value of a customer for their clients. They were smart in realizing the necessity to be laser focused, not just in the Shopify space but in picking a service vertical as well. They think they have missed out on work due to a lack of experience in a particular service vertical. However on the other hand, they also win a lot of projects because there are not many agencies that specialize in lifetime value before, during, and after the sale. Why Other Agencies Are Potential Allies Instead of Just Competitors If you feel you have to destroy your competition, you may be missing out on valuable strategic alliances. Adam and Peter have always treated other agencies like friends and partners. It's something we promote and encourage with our Digital Agency Elite Mastermind members as well. Early on and not knowing how to get more clients, they decided to approach bigger more established agencies. They presented themselves as a trustworthy referral partner and asked them to send any leads they didn't want their way. Before long, they actually did start receiving referrals from these bigger agencies. Of course, they also found agencies that were less than willing to engage with them. They even got some competitors trying to stop their progress. Luckily, they had already built good relationships with many agencies so these attempts not only didn't work, but backfired. It's a mentality they still practice now that they are a bigger agency as they try to help smaller start-up agencies. Ultimately, there is enough business for everyone and they don't see a need for a "destroy the competition" mentality. Furthermore, you can learn from other agency owners. If we were all more willing to have honest conversations with other agency owners, we would realize we've all had many of the problems and even offer useful tips to each other. 4 Tips To Build Trust and Makes You Stand Out From the Competition Be honest even when it's hard: Honesty set you apart from the competition. If the client has unreasonable goals or expectations, just be honest and tell them. Maybe they'll decide you're not the right agency for them, but maybe they'll hear you out and listen to your ideas. Don't try to sell everything at once: You probably want to sell a client X, Y, and Z but you know what they really need at the moment is just X. Sell them X, do a great job and build trust. Then, once they trust you, upsell Y and Z. Moreover, not everyone can afford everything at one time. Doing it progressively is the best way to consider the client while still increasing your sales. Ask the right questions: Many clients come in with an idea of what they need, like a redesign of their website store. However, once you start asking the right questions and get them to think about the problems they're experiencing you realize that's not the solution at all. Being willing to challenge them on the real problem will help you establish trust. Be willing to educate them. Saying “just trust me” doesn't cut it. Really explain where they're at and the plan on how to get where they want to be. Explain it almost to the point where they could just do it themselves. They won't, that's why they're looking for someone to do it for them. Plus if they really understand, then you successfully showed them they can trust you instead of just asking them to trust. In this episode we're going to talk about the importance of customer experience and how you can improve it before, during and after the sale. Customers are more savvy than ever before and they know what they want. If you don't give them what they want, they'll go somewhere else. Adam Pearce joins Matt to explore how to give our customers an amazing experience that will keep them coming back for more. ABOUT ADAM Adam is the co-founder and CEO of Blend Commerce, the eCommerce Customer Experience Agency. Adam and his team have worked with over 200 Shopify retailers to help them provide memorable customer experiences that drive growth in revenue and profit. Here's a summary of the great stuff that we cover in this show: Customer Experience is the overall experience that a customer has with your brand even before they click on your website till the point where you make your very final sale. So, it's not just their experience while making a purchase but before and after the purchase as well. A good Conversion Rate doesn't necessarily mean good Customer Experience. It gives a very narrow view whereas what's important is the Customer Lifetime Value. You can increase the lifetime value of a customer by avoiding gimmicks and increasing value additions by creating more touch points to understand the customer better and helping them understand you and your products better. Personalising your homepage, improving the navigations, and adding a great search feature are some effective ways to improve your customer experience. Being smart with your emails, conducting quizzes or surveys to help you understand your customer better and then offering services that's tailored to their specific needs or interests goes a long way in ensuring customer loyalty and lifetime value. Enjoying listening to our conversation about customer experience :-)For complete show notes, transcript and links to our guest, check out our website: https://my.captivate.fm/www.ecommerce-podcast.com (www.ecommerce-podcast.com).

Adam Pearce is the co-founder and CEO of Blend Commerce, the eCommerce Customer Experience Agency. Adam and his team have worked with over 200 Shopify retailers to help them provide memorable customer experiences that drive growth in revenue and profit. Here's what we covered on the episode: Adam's Start With Shopify I share how Adam and I met and that he's on the show to talk about designing sign-up experiences that sell and add value to customers and brands Adam shares what he thought life would be like after college and the different types of jobs he had While working for an education app company, Adam's brother-in-law approached him about a new Canadian app called Shopify that he was going to start developing on Because Adam had experience marketing for app companies, his brother-in-law thought maybe they could do something together Adam admits that he didn't think Shopify would work out but has never been happier to be wrong 5 years ago, Adam, his business partner, and his brother-in-law started an agency that started doing eCommerce sites for small companies The importance of customer experience has been amplified, and companies realize that it will drive profit for them Adam talks about moving from consulting to teaching and says after a few years of teaching; he realized how difficult it was Adam shares that running a company is easier than teaching was and what you should think about when deciding to switch careers or companies The beginning of their agency was crazy, and they realized they needed to niche down How Shopify was a completely different company from when they started to what it is now - as Shopify has changed, they've had to adapt When looking at eCommerce sites, Shopify is only 2nd to Amazon The initial challenge of the agency Adam shares was picking a niche that was going to be enjoyable and is something that the market and industry wanted A typical client profile for their agency would be someone who has been doing business for 2-3 years, 3 million dollars a year in revenue, and uses Shopify as their main channel for driving revenue. A few years ago, Shopify was about getting someone to make an initial purchase – now, it's more about the customer and thinking about how we can get them to come back Tracking Customer Lifetime Value + Creating a Unique Customer Experience For Adam, the concept of just having a website to sell is going away because so many different social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook offer eCommerce for customers to purchase on their app Business owners and companies need to know that consumers will want to interact and buy from you on multiple different channels, in multiple different ways – so only having one way for consumers to buy isn't ideal When clients come to Adam with a problem, he first looks at the data to identify if that is the true problem they are having or if it's actually something else Adam and his team focus on CLV (Customer Lifetime Value) and look at metrics like average revenue per customer, average order value, and doing calculations to determine the real CLV and the projected CLV Instead of just looking at conversion rates, you need to consider how profitable each customer for your company is based on what they're going to buy, how much it costs to provide what they're going to buy, and how much it costs to acquire them When it comes to a good conversion rate, Adam says it depends on the industry, product, and quality – he gives an example of two clients who sell similar products but have very different conversion rates because they have different price points and target demographics Some companies offer industry data and benchmark tracking reports like Klaviyo, which gives you a better idea of what your conversion rate should be so you can change things in your business if needed Adam feels most agencies do not do a great job with customer experience because everyone involved, the designer, copywriter, developer, etc., are working for themselves and not together for the user to create an excellent customer experience I love that Adam focuses on the customer experience because I feel another thing that has been lost is the onboarding and offboarding processes When you get a client committed to a contract or get paid at a physical store, Adam explains that as business owners, that's a winning point, but for the customer, that winning point hasn't started yet – your job is to make them feel great about their purchase Blend Commerce Offerings + New Ecommerce Trends/Apps Adam explains the 2 ways clients work with their agency 1) through their Customer Value Optimization Program and 2) on their email marketing through Klaviyo What's different about their agency Adam says, is that they understand at times, you will need to dip more into the design side or the marketing side than others Before a customer even comes across your brand until they make their last purchase – they look at all the interaction points that aren't great for your brand so far or don't exist so they can increase the customer lifetime value Adam shares that they have been partnered with Klaviyo for the last 4 ½ years – and when they work with clients in that capacity, they look at where money is being left on the table through their email marketing and help clients increase revenue The agency focuses on website design, development, and Klaviyo email marketing – Adam says when it comes to social media, paid, or SEO, they have a couple of partner agencies who they refer their clients to What has been working for eCommerce product and service brands is using onsite quizzes – Adam gives a client example where they have a button on their site that people can click if they aren't sure where to start, and it walks them through a couple of questions and asks them about their taste to better recommend products and create a personalized experience Adam says that quizzes have good conversion rates, but even if a person doesn't convert from your onsite quiz, you have now captured a lot of information about that person – all that data can be used in Klaviyo for your email marketing to personalize responses If you search for eCommerce quizzes, you will be flooded with information because it does work as a sign-up and conversion tool In Adam's opinion, pop-ups that still work are ones for products with low average pay for the brand, but because everyone uses pop-ups in the same places, it can be overwhelming to consumers if they are jumping from brand to brand When you're offering pop-ups for large discounts, you have to ask yourself if that is attracting customers that will keep coming back – Adam suggests being smarter with pop-ups by asking one simple question instead and gives an example of how this would benefit you as a brand Adam says when they ask questions in their pop-ups, they like to build anticipation and then ask for the consumer's email at the end to share their results If Adam could go back 5 years ago, he would tell himself not to judge a book by its cover and what he means by that is, as an agency, they used to judge the way a potential client approached them and their initial site – but you can never know how good or bad a business is without talking to the business owner Adam shares some apps that are unique and work well from a customer experience point of view – one is VideoEyes which crawls YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc. for videos that mention your products that you might not know about and bring them back to your Shopify store – it also allows you to grab any video you've made and create a call to action so people can buy and checkout from the video Another app Adam recommends is Penny Black which allows you to personalize your packaging based on data from a customer To learn more about Adam's agency, you can go to the Blend Commerce Money In The Bank 2022 è stato archiviato con la vittoria di Theory per il match maschile e Liv Morgan, con tanto di incasso vincente, per il match femminile.
By his own admission, Tommy Wilson shouldn't be wrestling today. Tommy shouldn't be wrestling and he probably shouldn't even be alive. “At the end of 2019, I was admitted to the ER with necrotizing pancreatitis, cirrhosis of my liver, and complete kidney failure. I would end up staying in the hospital for two months, was in a coma for 4 weeks, and I died three times. I needed dialysis daily. I went from weighing 270 pounds to 182 pounds in about a 3-month span.” This story isn't about a statistic. It is about redemption. Tommy Wilson began his career in professional wrestling some 15 years ago when he stepped into the Lion's Den. The official training academy of Ken Shamrock, who was coaching MMA and Professional Wrestling. After his initial training, Tommy would join the Ultimate University, the sister school of UPW. The promotion was responsible for bringing John Cena to the spotlight as well as developing many future WWE Talents. Under the guidance of Tom Howard Wilson would eventually get the opportunity to compete for ZERO-ONE in Japan. He and Tony Stradlin were billed as the UPW Light Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. After his time in UPW, Tommy would begin to compete for David Marquez's NWA Pro and the affiliate of NWA promotions, including the Inoki Dojo, AWS, Mach 1, and SoCal Pro. Tommy would have many reigns as the SoCal Pro Heavyweight Champion and would do battle with NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, Adam Pearce. On May 21st, 2022… Tommy Wilson returned to the ring. On this episode of the Sessions, Jay Cal we will speak to Tommy about life, death, and pro-wrestling.

Jay Stone started to referee in 2005. Jay would famously be the referee in charge for the sixth match in the Seven Levels of Hate series between Adam Pearce and Colt Cabana for the Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Jay started his training with EWF, but would hone his craft at the Team 3D Academy. With seemingly so much success and so many opportunities presented to him, Jay Stone would step away from the ring. Jay would call it right down the center for The Empire Wrestling Federation, Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, West Coast Wrestling Association, and more. But after ten years in the business, Jay surprisingly walked away. On this episode of the Sessions With Jay Cal, we'll discuss Jay's legacy in the world of wrestling, we'll spend time speaking to Jay about why he left the business, what challenges he faced in his career and more.
Here's how Ina Bakalova helps business owners monetize their content. Ina graduated with a first-class degree from a top university and got fired from her first and only job. She's always known that she's wanted her own business, but she didn't know exactly what. She started investing in property, mostly for the money. In doing so she discovered her true unique place in the world, which is helping other educational creators and online business owners monetize their content and launch a consulting business.Ina had a very small savings pot that she used to invest in the first round of making her product. She basically ran out of money and realized that if she wanted to have a business, a service-based business was probably a better idea. It's because she didn't want to invest vast amounts of capital.Ina wanted a way to monetize what she already knew, without having to spend a lot of money doing that. And that's kind of how she got into social media and her online consulting.KEY QUESTIONS:Virginia 05:03 So do you work just with the realtor niche now? Ryan McKinnell & Mark Henry have a packed edition of Busted Open Saturday. First up - Brock Lesnar gets suspended from Smackdown according to Adam Pearce - but will that keep him from returning? Brock and Roman Reigns are doing some of their best work and it's both entertaining and working for the fans as well. Meanwhile in AEW - both Mark and Ryan were ecstatic about how good Pac v Andrade was last night and Andrade's rise in the AEW. Finally, Preston "10" Vance looks to get his revenge on Jon Moxley as this feud has been continuing to build between them and the Dark Order and 10 looks to shine.
Tales of The Wrestling Tapes hosted by Eric! The Tribal Chief Epic reaches a seminal moment in Roman Reigns vs. Edge! STORY At WrestleMania 37 in April, Roman Reigns defeated Edge and Daniel Bryan in a triple threat match to retain the Universal Championship. On the June 25 episode of SmackDown, Reigns and his special counsel Paul Heyman had a Universal Championship address. Heyman stated that Reigns had defeated all of SmackDown's top contenders and that there was no one left to challenge Reigns. Edge then made a surprise return after a two-month hiatus and attacked Reigns and also took out Jimmy Uso, who had come to Reigns' aid. On Talking Smack the next day, it was revealed that Edge had confronted WWE officials Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville and demanded a one-on-one match against Reigns for the title at Money in the Bank, which he was originally supposed to have at WrestleMania before Bryan worked his way into the match. Pearce then granted him the match. Not only that but rumors of a certain WWE Megastar is on sight to fight Roman Reigns in the next big chapter in The Tribal Chief Epic at SummerSlam as Roman Reigns will make it to a near year-long reign as WWE Universal Champion. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Our talk today will be about the nonprofit LoveYourBrain. I wish everyone, and especially cyclists, knew about LoveYourBrain and its fantastic support of the traumatic brain injured…but they don't…at least not yet. While I had heard of LoveYourBrain through a friend of mine who was hit by a car while riding his bike in the mountains of Colorado, I didn't really understand how important it was until now. Resilience won’t make your problems go away … but resilience will help you see past your problems, find enjoyment in life and handle the stresses of life. About LoveYourBrain: LoveYourBrain (LYB) is a non-profit that improves the quality of life of people affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI) and raises awareness about the importance of brain health. LYB’s evidence-based programs and resources are designed to create community, foster resilience, and help people understand the importance of loving your brain. Guided by their family's experience, brothers Kevin and Adam Pearce established LYB following Kevin's severe TBI from a snowboarding accident prior to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Kevin's remarkable resilience was documented and transformed into the award winning HBO Documentary, “The Crash Reel,” which brought to light the experience of TBIs. Why this matters Isolation, unemployment, failed relationships, and suicidal ideation is reality for the brain injured. And since brain injury is often invisible, affected people are misunderstood and often poorly served by the standard medical system. LoveYourBrain website: https://www.loveyourbrain.com/ For today’s podcast, I am joined by 3 people who have had deep personal connection to brain injury as well as to LoveYourBrain. We're going to hear about their journeys, AND the story of LoveYourBrain, we will also find out how any of us can benefit from the resources provided by LoveYourBrain should we need it, and how we can help the LoveYourBrain team to continue doing their good works. My guests today are: Adam Pearce, who is the co-Founder and Executive Director of LoveYourBrain. David Adler, who is a business leader and an avid cyclists and skier. In 2013, he was hit by a car while riding his bike….leaving him with more than 20 broken bones, two collapsed lungs and a TBI. Brett Tivers who is a high school sports coordinator and teacher now in New Zealand, but was a professional cyclist, and winner of the 2011 Tour of Battenkill in NY. In 2012, while racing in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Brett crashed at 38 mph and was knocked unconscious, resulting in a brain injury which ended his professional cycling career. Both ecommerce shop owners and marketers can learn a whole lot from Daniel and Adam this episode, with great topics like: ✔️ The best Shopify apps ✔️ Expert design tips for ecommerce stores ✔️ Beautiful aesthetics vs. conversion rates ✔️ Latest Shopify design trends ✔️ When you should consult a design expert The Tools Experts Trust Every great marketer has their trusted apps, and Adam is no exception. He mentions Klaviyo taking the crown from Mailchimp a few years back to become one of the very best apps you can use. It does much more than set up email campaigns, essentially giving business owners complete control over their valuable data! Recharge is another prominent app, great for recurring purchases and subscriptions. Octane AI is an exciting quiz app for ecommerce shops to personalize the experience and pitch specific products to shoppers. At the same time, Reviews.io is the perfect way to get user-generated video reviews, which can boost your sales! Three Crucial Design Tips What Adam and Blend Commerce can be pretty complicated at times, but he gave us a few simple tips for all businesses to utilize. While getting started, he recommends having a large budget for product photos and videos, as quality videos and 360-degree photos can up your conversion rate by 70%! Being consistent with color, shapes, fonts, and photos goes a long way to build trust with prospective customers. Having your “Call to Action” prominently displayed at the top of the landing page is more effective than a large, flashy hero image or text. Be sure to put social proof, mentions of free shipping, and other vital information close to the CTA to make a choice even easier. Beauty Does Not Equal Sales If it were just about making beautiful ecommerce landing pages, it would be a piece of cake for Adam and his agency. But he says knowing your audience is the most critical part of owning an ecommerce brand. Some of the top-performing pages are quite ugly, while some of the sleekest, futuristic designs yield hardly any sales! Both Daniel and Adam mention websites catered towards older crowds needing to be less flashy, more informational, and less distracting. In contrast, sites catered towards younger demographics can go with more aesthetic designs. “Make it beautiful for the type of people you want to attract!” Ecommerce Trends of 2020 Ecommerce is exploding right now, with 54% of traffic attributed to new shoppers since COVID-19 started. Although the traffic was once evenly distributed between desktop and mobile users, Adam says that around 80% of traffic comes from mobile these days. People are also prioritizing web speed more lately, with studies showing that improving your loading speed by just 1 second can net you 7% higher conversion rates! There has even been an increase in Shopify stores with digital products as well. Do it Yourself or Ask an Expert? Lots of the stuff Blended Commerce does for their clients, you can also do for yourself. Adam says, don't worry about hiring someone when you have less than 1000 visitors per month because there simply isn't enough data to sift through and come to a conclusion. You can use design templates, Google Analytics, Hotjar (a helpful heatmap to analyze your site), and more before consulting an expert. It is a lot more useful to tell them precisely what you want rather than saying, “make my shop beautiful, please.” Follow Daniel Budai: Daniel's LinkedIn Daniel's Facebook Follow Adam: Adam's LinkedIn Adam's website Adam's podcast
