Tired of ADHD strategies that don't work? Start with my free training: Stop Trying to “Fix” Your ADHD. You're Not Broken: https://programs.tracyotsuka.com/signup_____You have heard of art therapy and talk therapy. Charlotte Hastings does therapy in the kitchen, and it opens people up in a way the usual chair never quite does.Charlotte Hastings is a psychodynamic therapist, founder of Kitchen Therapy, and author of Kitchen Therapy: How to Become a Conscious Cook. Trained first as an anthropologist, she taught drama to neurodivergent teenagers before building an entire therapeutic approach around the kitchen.Charlotte recognized her own ADHD in her forties, after years of self-medicating and a chaotic childhood with an undiagnosed, alcoholic father. School had convinced her she was not smart. Anthropology, Jung, and eventually a wooden spoon proved otherwise. Now she uses cooking the way other therapists use art or drama: a side-by-side, low-pressure space where the real stuff surfaces. In this episode, Tracy and Charlotte talk about why cooking can work like art or drama therapy, why food and love are so entwined, how recipes can both support and shut down ADHD brains, and why the way you hold a wooden spoon might reveal the way you hold life. If cooking has ever felt loaded, boring, chaotic, or impossible, this conversation offers a gentler reframe: the meal is not just the result. The journey is the meal.ResourcesWebsite: https://therapykitchen.co.ukInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/therapy.kitchenSend a Message: Your Name | Email | MessageADHD isn't a productivity problem. And still, by the end of the day, your brain was already moving on to everything you missed, forgot, or still needed to do.Today, I want to talk about why success does not always feel like success for ADHD women. Our brains are often scanning for what is unfinished, unresolved, or potentially threatening. So even when we complete ten things, we can still end the day focused on the one thing we did not get done. But today, I want you to practice noticing what is going right. Noticing your progress. Noticing the effort it took. Noticing the evidence that you are capable, that you do follow through, and that you can do difficult things.Because success does not create confidence when we ignore it. What happens when the person everyone relies on suddenly realizes they're running on empty? In this solo episode of Harder Than Life, Kelly shares a deeply personal story about experiencing two panic attacks in two weeks while simultaneously managing business pressure, relationship challenges, and some of the deepest healing work of his life. Instead of pushing harder, Kelly made a different choice. He slowed down, paid attention to what his body was trying to tell him, and developed a practical framework for calming an overloaded nervous system. This episode introduces the five protocols that helped him navigate one of the most stressful periods of his life and offers a roadmap for anyone feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in survival mode. If you've ever felt like you're carrying too much for too long, this conversation may be exactly what you need. Key Takeaways

Tired of ADHD strategies that don't work? Here's what actually does. FREE training here: https://programs.tracyotsuka.com/signup_____You bought the planner. You loved the planner. You were absolutely, positively sure this planner was going to change your life. And then, by March, you forgot it existed. When we moved out of our family home of 25 years, I found boxes. Boxes and boxes of barely used planners I'd been saving for who knows why. For a long time I thought that meant something about me. That I wasn't disciplined enough. That everyone else got some secret instruction manual for adulthood that I'd missed. But the women I work with aren't lazy or unfocused. They're brilliant, driven, running companies and raising families. And they can't stick with a planner either. That's when it clicked. This was never a planning problem. It's a time problem, a decision problem, and an emotional regulation problem. Planning is just where those show up.In this episode I talk about why ADHD brains experience time differently, why importance alone won't get you started, why most planners quietly set you up for an impossible day, and why one meaningful goal beats ten random ones.If you've got a planner graveyard sitting in a drawer somewhere, this one is for you. The question was never what's wrong with you. The question is what kind of system actually works for your brain.Resources:Get the planner: https://tracyotsuka.com/planner Use code PODCASTPLANNER for $10 offWebsite: tracyotsuka.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/tracyotsuka YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@tracyotsuka4796FREE 3-days to Fall in Love With Your ADHD Brain training on Jan 6th:  https://tracyotsuka.com/ilovemybrain Tired of ADHD strategies that don't work? 76 Why You Feel Stuck: You're Not Broken, You're Boxed In You're not stuck. I know it feels like you are — but I want to offer you a different word for it today. You're not stuck. You're boxed in. What if the reason change feels so hard isn't a flaw in you — not a lack of willpower, not some broken part you need to fix — but the room you've been standing in for far too long? In this episode I talk about how your environment quietly decides what feels normal, what feels possible, and what feels out of reach. And this isn't only about health — you can use this lens on your dreams, your work, your body, the version of yourself you keep almost becoming. Having lived in six countries, I've watched the same person feel completely stuck in one room and completely free in another. Each environment gives you a different set of permissions — and the longer you stay inside one box, the more its limits start to feel like the truth about you. Here's what we get into: Why "stuck" is usually the wrong diagnosis — and what's actually happening instead How your environment normalises exhaustion, overdrinking, overeating, and settling until they feel like "just adult life" Why your nervous system treats a big dream as risky when you've never seen anyone around you living it Why we all need cross-pollination: artists need bankers, mothers need women without children How to "leave the room" — not forever, not dramatically — long enough to remember other ways of living exist The problem isn't belonging somewhere. The problem is belonging only here. If your life feels small, repetitive, or uninspiring — the problem may not be your mindset. It might be the environment that only ever reflects the old version of you back to you. Forward this to someone who's stuck in the same patterns and quietly wanting more. So here's your one job this week: notice the box. Then go stand somewhere else, even briefly, and see what suddenly looks possible. That's the whole work.

You are avoiding that prediction. The email isn't an email anymore. It's criticism. The budget isn't a budget. It's shame. Once the task stops being the task, no amount of yelling at yourself is going to move you.In this episode I talk about why the same woman who can't answer an email can build a company, why your brain reaches for Instagram over the thing that actually matters, and the practical ways to break the spell: changing your visual field, moving your body, getting curious, and becoming a detective about what your brain thinks the task really means. If you have ever called yourself lazy for avoiding something you genuinely wanted to do, this one is for you. What really drives lending cycles, and why do they always seem to end the same way? Lance Roberts and RealFin Capital founder, David Zugheri, break down how credit is created, why risk builds beneath the surface, and what happens when underwriting standards begin to loosen. From the origins of the RTC to today's lending environment, we explore the structural forces that shape booms, busts, and the transfer of wealth across the economy. We also dig into the evolution of housing, the growing risks in multi-family real estate, and the unintended consequences of regulation on credit availability. Through the RealFin story and real-world experience in esoteric lending, we highlight what separates success from failure in volatile cycles, how liquidity disappears when it's needed most, and why being battle-tested matters. If you want to understand why there's rarely a "soft landing" in lending—and what that means for investors and business owners—this episode connects the dots. 0:00 - INTRO 2:11 - Building a Business During Business Cycles 5:35 - How We Got the RTC 7:16 - Risk is like Stretching 9:22 - The Beginning of the End 12:15 - The Two-trick Pony: Lower Rates or Loosen Underwriting 13:39 - There's no such thing as a soft landing in lending 14:06 - We loan money into existence 15:13 - Lending, Borrowing, & Redistribution of Wealth 19:54 - Capitalism is Not Broken 21:31 - Dodd Frank Killed the American Spirit 24:13 - The Different Flavors of Lending (Ass National Bank) 26:08 - It has Always Been Expensive to Buy a House 29:00 - When Asset Prices Get Out of Control 30:52 - The Evolution of the Housing Market, Problems in Multi-family Real Estate 32:09 - The RealFin Story - Esoteric Lending 34:33 - Regulation-induced Lending Restrictions 36:51 - The Difference Between Success & Failure in a Business 39:56 - When You Get Yourself in Trouble... 40:58 - The RealFin REIT - We eat our own dog food 44:43 - Being Battle-tested 46:01 - The Liquidity Issue 50:17 - Getting in Touch w RealFin 52:48 - The Most Powerful Force in the World 57:54 - Mistakes We've Made Hosted by RIA Advisors Chief Investment Strategist, Lance Roberts, CIO, w Produced by Brent Clanton, Executive Producer ------- Do you enjoy our content? FREE training here: https://programs.tracyotsuka.com/signup_____A lot of ADHD women are not using executive function to get things done. They are using anxiety. If panic, pressure, or shame is what finally gets you moving, this episode explains why.Dr. Tamara Rosier is an ADHD coach, founder of the ADHD Center of West Michigan, and author of Your Brain's Not Broken. Through her work with adults, families, and students, she helps people understand the emotional side of ADHD in a way that feels practical, concrete, and deeply human.Tamara realized that many ADHD brains are not relying on calm systems to transition, prioritize, or follow through. Instead, they are using emotional intensity to create enough urgency to act. Fear to remember. Shame to stay motivated. Anxiety to get started. That shift changed how she approached ADHD support. Instead of focusing only on productivity strategies, she began helping people understand the emotional patterns underneath the behavior first. Because when the nervous system is overloaded, no planner or system will stick for long.In this episode, we talk about the “angry neighbor” versus the “butler” brain, why transitions feel so hard, and how divergent thinking can turn one small problem into twenty imagined outcomes. We also get into emotional overwhelm, perfectionism, humor as regulation, and why so many ADHD women feel emotionally exhausted even when they look high-functioning on the outside. If you have ever wondered why you can only seem to function under pressure, this episode will help you understand what your brain has been relying on all along.Resources: Website: https://www.tamararosier.com  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dr.tamararosier  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tamara-rosier-phdSend a Message: Your Name | Email | Message If this podcast helps you understand your ADHD brain, Shift helps you train it. Most nonprofits live inside a glossy annual report — one that looks perfect, tells a tidy story, and tells the funder exactly what they want to hear. The problem, according to Stephen Minix, is that this kind of reporting is not learning. It is validation. And validation, he argues, is quietly doing harm. Stephen is Vice President of Community at UpMetrics, a former PE teacher, athletic director, and basketball coach at Locke High School in Watts, and one of the clearest thinkers I have encountered on why the nonprofit-funder relationship keeps failing — and what a genuinely regenerative alternative looks like. In this conversation, he names the extractive dynamics that most people in the impact space accept as normal, introduces the concept of results-based accountability, and shares what it actually takes to move philanthropy from transactional to relational. We go deep on why data collected from communities should serve those communities rather than flow upward to validate a funder's investment decisions, why the real barrier between funders and nonprofits is trust rather than information, and why community voices need to be in the room — not on the stage at a gala as a sad story that makes people reach for their wallets. Stephen also explains what a family office is for anyone who has wondered but never asked, shares how UpMetrics works in cohort settings to help nonprofits build their own data infrastructure, and offers his most memorable anecdote: asking a room full of funders what data they collected before signing their kids up for after-school programs. The answer — silence — says everything about the gap between how philanthropy evaluates communities and how it trusts its own instincts. Col. Dave Grossman What if the very thing you've been told is breaking you… is actually making you stronger? In this conversation, Conrad sits down with Dave Grossman to unpack what really happens inside the mind and body under stress. From the physiological effects of high-pressure situations to the misunderstood nature of PTSD, this episode challenges one of the most common narratives in first responder culture. Grossman introduces the concept of post-traumatic growth—the idea that adversity, when processed correctly, doesn't weaken us… it strengthens us. He explains why elevated heart rate, anxiety, and mental replay aren't necessarily signs of damage, but signals that the body is adapting and preparing. You'll walk away with practical tools to manage stress in real time—simple, actionable techniques like controlled breathing and even something as basic as drinking water to regulate the nervous system. More importantly, this episode reframes how leaders should guide their teams through trauma—not by dismissing it, but by helping them understand it. This is not just about surviving stress. It's about learning how to grow through it. Key Topics Covered The difference between PTSD and post-traumatic growth What's actually happening in your body under stress Why perception determines performance Tools to regulate the nervous system in real time How leaders should guide others through high-stress experiences EMDR and separating memory from emotion Why most people are more resilient than they think Key Takeaways Stress responses are not always signs of damage—they can be signs of adaptation Leaders play a critical role in how trauma is processed Calm is trained, not automatic The body can be brought under control with simple, repeatable techniques Growth is possible—even after intense experiences Notable Quotes “This is not PTSD… this is what it feels like to level up.” “Two people can feel the same thing—one thinks they're broken, the other wants to do it forever.” “Breathing is a leash on the nervous system.” “The worse it gets, the calmer the leader needs to become.” Resources Mentioned EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Grossman's books and training materials Call to Action If this episode resonated with you, share it with someone on your team. Scale Stalled? You're Not Broken. In this episode of The Dancing Housewife Podcast, I break down why fat loss after 40 — especially post-menopause — requires a smarter strategy, not more hustle. If you're lifting, walking, eating high protein/low carb, and the scale still won't budge, your metabolism didn't “break.” Early low-carb drops are mostly water from depleted glycogen. Real fat loss is slower — and strength training inflammation, hormone shifts, and water retention can easily mask progress. We talk about what actually changes after menopause: lower estrogen, altered insulin sensitivity, higher stress sensitivity, and why cortisol, recovery, and sleep matter more than ever. Working harder can backfire when your body feels stressed. You'll learn my menopause-smart reset and what not to do.If you're interested in being part of my newly forming Smart Weight Loss for Women group, leave a comment and be sure to include your email address or email me directly at thedancinghousewife@gmail.com. He discusses the organic way in which the songwriting and production processes unfolded for him, the joy of getting lots of talented musicians in one room, and how his influences continue to shape his unique sound. Ben sees genre as irrelevant; the true question, he says, is the honesty of the music. He advocates for steeping yourself in the best music, then allowing those influences to inform you as you continue to diligently pursue your sound. He even gives us a glimpse at the song he wrote for his wife, "I Will."To learn more about Ben, or to follow his musical journey, visit his official website.  You can even read all of the lyrics from his new album! For behind-the-scenes information and more about Journey of an Artist, visit the Journey of Series official webpage, or follow Emmeline on social media at @EmmelineMusic.

The history of cultures is not a course of aeons in which one runner after another has to traverse gaily and unsuspectingly the same death-track. A nameless way runs through their rise and fall: not a way of progress and development but a spiral descent through a spiritual underworld, which can also be called an ascent to the innermost, finest, most complicated whirlpool, where there is no advance and no retreat, but only utterly new reversal - the break through. Shall we have to go this way to the end, to trial of final darkness? Where there is danger, the rescuing force grows too.”“Where there is danger, the rescuing force grows too.” This is who we are. Resilience After Abuse: What It Really Means and How to Rebuild Key Takeaways Have you ever felt so broken by your past that the idea of “resilience” feels impossible or even offensive? You're not alone. In this honest and hope-filled conversation, Leslie sits down with licensed therapist and trauma expert Tabitha Westbrook to unpack what true resilience looks like after abuse, trauma, or coercive control. They explore how healing is not about forgetting the past or slapping on a spiritual Band-Aid, but about gently—and courageously—cleaning off your front porch, one step at a time. If you're feeling numb, overwhelmed, or wondering why you're not "over it yet," this episode will ground you in truth, compassion, and practical steps to begin rebuilding—body, mind, and spirit. Key Takeaways from Today's Episode: Resilience Isn't Pretending It Didn't Happen True resilience doesn't mean denying the trauma or "getting over it." It means facing what's been dumped on your porch—the trash, the rats, the grief—and slowly beginning to clean it up. You may not have caused the mess, but you are worthy of healing and peace. “You're not responsible for the trash that was thrown on your porch—but you are responsible for whether or not you leave it there.” – Tabitha Westbrook Healing Happens One Bag at a Time You don't have to sweep the entire porch in one day. Progress might look like removing one trash bag, asking a friend for help, or simply opening the front door. Healing is a slow, strengthening process. Each step builds capacity and courage. “Even if all you do today is open the door and breathe, that's progress.” Boundaries Are Part of Resilience Setting healthy boundaries with people who have harmed you—or who continue to—is not unloving. It's wise. And sometimes, healing means evaluating whether certain relationships need to shift or even end. But estrangement isn't always the only option. “Resilience includes discernment—who gets to come to the gate, who stays on the sidewalk, and who doesn't get to be in your yard at all.” Your Body Is Not the Enemy—It's a Messenger Many women have been taught to ignore their feelings or bodily cues, especially in the church. But trauma is stored in the body, and your body can alert you to danger or truth—even when your mind can't make sense of it. Learning to listen to your body is a sacred act of healing. “Your shoulders don't have lips—but they speak through tension, pain, and nausea. Listen to what your body is trying to tell you.” Triggers Are Opportunities, Not Failures If you're still getting triggered, it doesn't mean you're failing. It means your body is showing you something that still needs tending. Healing is not linear—and it never ends this side of heaven. But each trigger is an invitation to deeper understanding and growth. “When you're triggered, it's not time to shame yourself. It's time to ask: What is this showing me? Where do I still need care and kindness?” Feeling Stuck? You're Not Alone—And You're Not Broken. If you're in a season where even opening your front door feels impossible, please know this: You don't have to do it alone. Asking for help is a holy, courageous first step. Whether it's a friend, a support group, or a therapist, reaching out can be the beginning of your transformation. Final Encouragement Sweet friend, healing doesn't mean you'll never feel pain again—it means the pain won't own you. You were made for more than just surviving. With God's help and your brave yes, you can rebuild your life, reclaim your voice, and rediscover your worth. You are not too far gone. You are not too broken. And you are not alone. Do you need to be fully healed before you can have a healthy relationship? In episode 3 of 4 in the Clarity Series, Sabrina dismantles one of the biggest myths in dating and personal growth: that you must be perfect, secure, or “done healing” before you're worthy of love. Drawing from attachment theory, nervous system regulation, and real-life dating dynamics, she explains why so many people feel fine when they're single but get triggered the moment they start dating and why that doesn't mean you've failed your healing journey . This episode explores the difference between awareness and real change, healing alone versus healing in relationships, and how avoidance can masquerade as self-work. You'll learn what “being ready to date” actually looks like, how to stop hiding behind healing, and how to build self-trust by responding differently when you're triggered. If you struggle with anxious attachment, dating anxiety, relationship patterns, or feeling stuck despite therapy and self-work, this conversation will reframe how you approach dating, growth, and emotional safety moving forward. Why do so many high achievers secretly struggle with anxiety, burnout, and overwhelm? Dr. Elizabeth Stanley, Army veteran, Georgetown professor, and author of Widen the Window, joins Michael Hyatt to explain the hidden science behind stress and resilience. Drawing on her personal story of trauma, her background in the military, and her training in somatic therapy, Elizabeth reveals why talk therapy alone often falls short—and how body-based practices can change everything. This conversation is honest, practical, and deeply hopeful for anyone who feels stuck in patterns of stress.Memorable Quotes“We're all in it together and we're all experiencing the particular lawful ways that this human mind and body works in this particular poly-crisis world. Of course, people are struggling. It's kind of why it's my passion to help people understand ‘You're not alone in this.'”“We are wired organically to be able to mobilize the energy to manage a crisis or a stressful situation, and then recover. Our ancestors that shared the same wiring that we have did not have 24/7 constant activation and constant demands the way that we do in modern life today.”“The science term there is allostatic load, and the more our stress load grows, the less capacity we have in our mind and body to meet the next challenge, so that it becomes a bit of a vicious cycle, and we know that we're on the edge of our window or outside of our window of tolerance.”“We are built so that we learn the downregulation through the soothing we receive from our parents and other early caregivers. And that presumes that our early caregivers and parents were regulated enough to do that for us.”“If we're redirecting it somewhere that the survival brain perceives as safe, that actually starts conditioning. A process that makes the system move back in the way that we're organically built, which is to go through stress and recover naturally.”“When we don't perceive agency, when we feel powerless or helpless, that actually leads to higher levels of arousal and it really resolidifies the prior conditioning. So being able to access that choice point is really critical in beginning to shift it.”“If our parents had narrowed windows, if they were coping with a lot of stress and trauma, or if they were absent, if they had mental illness or they were incarcerated, they aren't able to help us wire those things. It's one of the ways that narrowed windows get transmitted intergenerationally and why trauma can become intergenerational.”Key TakeawaysYou're Not Broken. Chronic anxiety and overwhelm are signs of dysregulation, not defects. They're the evidence of what you've walked through—but don't determine what's ahead.Your Body Knows the Way. Healing starts by listening to the signals of your nervous system. The key is not to minimize our reactions, but to listen and practice strategies that help us return to baseline.Talk Therapy Isn't Enough. True healing requires engaging the body and nervous system. Send us a textYou're Not Broken. You're Just in a Broken System. After four years of coaching women physicians, I've noticed patterns; patterns that show up again and again in brilliant, capable doctors who feel like they're barely holding it together. If you've ever felt like a hot mess inside while everyone thinks you have it all figured out, this episode is for you. What You'll Discover in This Episode:1. We all feel like hot messes inside You think it's just you who's struggling to thrive in healthcare. It's not. Every woman physician I've coached feels this way. The problem isn't you; it's the system. But this belief keeps us isolated, thinking we're the only ones falling apart.2. We're all carrying trauma (even if we don't see it) Migraines. Panic attacks. That third glass of wine. Emotional numbness. These aren't character flaws; they're trauma responses. Our bodies weren't designed to hold this much stress for this long.3. We think we "should" know how to take care of ourselves. Here's the truth bomb: You were never taught self-care. You were taught self-sacrifice. Stop that sentence in your head that says "I'm a doctor, I should know better." Knowing medical facts doesn't mean you know how to care for yourself.4. The system doesn't value your unique gifts You have patients who say "I never want to see anyone else." You make a real difference. But the system treats you like a widget. When you don't fit in their box, you internalize the message that you're not valuable. That thought is killing us.5. We get in our own way "Who I am isn't enough. What I want doesn't matter. I need to be better before I deserve what I want." Sound familiar? This belief is the biggest stumbling block keeping you stuck.6. We won't set boundaries until we believe in our own value You think you have to prove your worth first, then you'll deserve boundaries. But that day never comes. The system profits from your lack of boundaries. You have to believe in your value NOW to set them.7. We think there's ONE right way to do everything Medical training taught us to look for the algorithm, the evidence, the one best answer. So we keep searching for the perfect planner, the ideal system, the magic app. Meanwhile, we take no action at all. The best system is the one that works for YOU.8. Change is uncomfortable—and we hate that You can rewire yourself. You can set boundaries. You can take better care of yourself. But it requires time you don't think you have and attention you don't think you have. Growth feels awkward. That's how you know it's working.9. The answer isn't out there. It's in here. I know you want a hack, an app, a planner that will fix everything. But no external system will replace doing your own internal work. You need tools and support, yes—but you have to do the work yourself.10. The doctors crushing it aren't doing it alone They hire help. They delegate. They're in communities. They have support systems you can't see. You only see what they're doing—not all the things they're NOT doing and not the he Support the showTo learn more about my coaching practice and group offerings, head over to www.healthierforgood.com.
