In this episode of Boku No Stop! we discuss the Lupin the III OVA, Jigen's Gravestone. Content warnings: on-camera gun violence aplenty (and some gnarly wounds from the aforementioned), sexual menace, uncomfortably detailed eye-touching, and mechanical drill-appendages Surprise! There's more this season, as we cover the trio of OVAs that followed Fujiko Mine. Matt was unable to attend this week's recording but we do have a quote from him here: "What the fuck?!" It seems he, too, was a little put off by the Big Daddy glass coffin scene. The thrills are higher and the lows are lower starting this week, but do come along for a jaunt on the wild side!

Since the dawn of time, man has asked: "if it's completely CG, does that still make it anime?" Many wars have been fought and so much blood has been shed seeking for the final answer to this cursed question. You cannot convince me that The War of the Roses wasn't about anything else. Anyways, Lupin the Third pops his head out and says "I'm gonna refuel the fires of war once again" and now here we are watching a CG anime(?) all about the latest exploits of the master thief and SWEET LITTLE BABY JESUS WITH HIS BABY EINSTEIN EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS AND GERBER'S BABY FOOD MADE WITH REAL ORGANIC FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. This movie is absolutely gorgeous. But is it good? Looks can only get you so far because you have to have a personality too if you actually want to make anything of yourself. Unfortunately I don't have either but does Lupin the Third: The First have what it takes to be a modern masterpiece or is it just all thrill with no kill? We talk all about this and a lot more including Fujiko Mine's ara~ and what series we think could have another solid CG adaptation. Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine is a fantastic character study Lupin's Irene Adler, and it gets pretty damn dark in places. We've sectioned this episode into spoilers so you can stop it and watch the show at any point. It starts getting darkest about halfway through, so if you want to stop at that point, it's a good plan. CW: child abuse, suicide.

Fujiko Mine, Mine Fujiko. Teacher, resistance fighter, consort, betrothed, spy, thief. Is she all of these things? Or none of them? Just who is the Woman Named Fujiko Mine? A slippery question, but Warui Deshou never turns down a challenge. Helmed creatively by Sayo Yamamoto (whom you might know from a popular recent anime about some ice skaters or something), Lupin III: The Woman Named Fujiko Mine was created to celebrate the franchise’s 40th anniversary while also taking it in a direction it was not particularly known for: more noir and supremely sexy and confident in itself, not to mention it did not focus on Lupin himself, but rather a character who had been ill defined previously. With special guest Alexander Smit, join Warui Deshou as we discuss topics raised within the show such as sexuality and gender identity, and also the anime itself. Oh, and we also go off topic into things such as bat nipples and cold ones in the shower. As you do. With special thanks to Alex for coming on the show and providing his insights, Grant The Thief for his assistance in the “Shady Dealings – The BLT” outro, and to BBB/Jahvin Baxter of Yakage Force Studios for his incredible Sheryl Nome by way of Pulp Fiction album art. Taking a slight detour on our Lupin retrospective, i want to talk about the Fujiko Mine series before i get to Jigen's Gravestone as that movie is a spinoff from this series universe and i just wanted to take this moment to explain my thoughts on the overall franchise at this particular point in the history of Lupin's production
Tom, Violence Jill, and I examine the passionate thievery of two excellent entries in the long-running Lupin the Third series created by comic author Monkey Punch.
As Jumper Cables recovers from the disaster that was the previous episode, Joe and Mike watch Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine. What's the deal with all the boobs? Who exactly is Goemon Ishikawa? Why is Jumper Cables so bummed out? One of these questions will be answered... hopefully. Also: Lupin month is over. Bye-bye now. Opening: Synthetic Highway by Sub Morphine @sub-morphine Closing: Anime Roku by Squarion facebook.com/Squarion facebook.com/ProjectStick Visit our website for more podcasting goodness! bit.ly/1lISxVl
