Thanks for listening and we pray this podcast encourages you and helps grow your walk in the Lord! God bless!Ch. 12-14 Notes:Ch. 12 reviews human history. The 'woman' represents the nation of Israel, and the 'child' she is carrying is the Messiah. The 'great red beast' (v9) trying to kill him is Satan. The 'serpent' in Genesis 3 has now grown into the 'great red dragon' in Revelation! Ch. 13 reviews the 7 years. The Antichrist reigns during this time. The 'False Prophet' assists him. Christians, at all costs, must not take the 'mark' of the beast at the end of ch. 13. This is probably the reason most of them are 'martyred' in 6:9-11, the 5th seal. Did not cover it in the podcast, but I believe the 'mark' in some way includes the bar code. Every one begins and ends with '6' and has a '6' in the middle! Also, without the 'mark' no one can buy or sell. (13:17)"Ch. 14 is about the two 'harvests'. The first reviews the Rapture of 11:15. Thanks for listening and we pray this podcast encourages you and helps grow your walk in the Lord! God bless! Chapter 8-11 Notes: Chapters 8-9 are the Trumpets. The 'locusts' may be military helicopters or drones. Most saints will be gone by this time, martyred in Seal #5 back in 6:9-11. Ch. 10 may be a veiled reference to America. The 'angel' sounds like a description of our Statue of Liberty. Ch. 11's 'two witnesses' are referred to as lampstands and trees in v4. These may be two individuals who lead groups. 'Lampstands' represent churches in ch 1-3 of Revelation. `Trees` represent nations throughout the OT. The individuals may be Enoch and Elijah (neither 'died' in the OT). Churches may be Messianic Jews and Christians. Nations may be Israel and the US. This is pure speculation. Also, I believe that the 144,000 'sealed' Jews from ch 7 are one of the witnesses who are 'killed' in 11:7 after finishing their testimony. 11:15 - Then the Rapture, the climax of all of scripture, happens in 11:15 when "the kingdom of the world has become the Kingdom of our Lord!" All dead saints are resurrected and taken to heaven. It is no 'secret'! v12 says that 'their enemies beheld them'. God always allows evil to believe it has won first. This happened when Christ died on the cross before He rose from the dead 3 days later. (A preview of the latest episode of Justin Podur's World War Civ series on his very excellent Anti-Empire Project podcast) General Allenby, Sharif Hussein and his son Feisal, and their handler TE Lawrence array the forces of the British Empire and the Arab Revolt against the Turco-German forces in Palestine. The battle starts in Gaza and ends with Allenby walking into the Jaffa Gate of Jerusalem. The story of the fateful campaign that brought British imperialism to Palestine (and Lebanon, and Syria…). We note that the British found Gaza to be a “fortress” from which it was impossible to dislodge the Turkish forces; Justin felt TE Lawrence was overrated, just another imperialist; and we compare admiration of the stoicism with which Allenby took news of his son's death, with an analogous situation today. https://podur.org/2024/05/13/world-war-civ-40-how-britain-took-palestine-in-1917/

Dimitri and Khalid explore the tragic denouement of World War One in Ottoman Palestine, including: the origins of the notorious Balfour Declaration and the surprising ambivalence of Anglo-Jewish elites towards it, managing the Arab reaction to Balfour (gaslighting Hussein), James Renton's “The Zionist Masquerade” and the origins of a vast British psyop against American Jews, how the racist weltanschauung of the British Establishment shaped their Balfour policy, targeting various ethnic groups as stereotypical monolithic “nations”, the impact of the Bolshevik Revolution on British anxieties about winning the support of “the Jews”, “their consciousness is NOT our consciousness”, Winston Churchill's 1920 ravings about using Zionism to combat International Judeo-Bolshevism, largely unsuccessful British efforts to psyop Polish-Americans and Irish-Americans into supporting the Allies, the perfidious anti-British machinations of the Irish-American “boss”, Vladimir Jabotinsky's thwarted desire for a Zionist “Maccabee Brigade” to join the war, flooding Jewish-American media with pro-Zionist content after Balfour, the sinister dramaturgy of General Allenby's entrance into Jerusalem, and more. It never stops does it? The Holy Land is in the news now as it was in 1917. We take a look at the fall of Jerusalem and the entry of General Allenby into the city marking the start of just over 30 years of British rule. Oliver Hogue, a 10th Light Horse trooper and a local bystander tell the story of the attacks leading up to the surrender of Jerusalem and how Allenby entered the old city on foot.
This one covers fan-boy Oliver's description of the work done by General Allenby, the widely attributed last cavalry charge of history by the Australian Light Horse on Beersheba and later battles around Gaza and Khulweilfe. We also cover the death of a great Aussie cricketer, Albert 'Tibby' Cotter and the unsubstantiated claim that his mates killed the Turks that killed him... It does happen but there is no proof it happened this time.
On September 6, 1918, twelve individuals met at the residence of the military governor of Jerusalem.1 The room was filled with tension as the governor was trying to win the confidence of those who were still skeptical and suspicious of British rule. A few months earlier, in December 1917, General Allenby had led the British troops into Jerusalem, ending Ottoman rule in the city and paving the way for greater British success in the region. As Jerusalem was now under British rule, General Allenby appointed Colonel Ronald Storrs as governor of the city. This appointment proved crucial for the development of the city in the interwar period. In the early days of British rule, Storrs was immediately involved with the delivery of supplies for the city and, in a fashion that would characterize his governorship, he placed the distribution of food and medicine in the hands of the municipality, under the supervision of the representatives of all religiouscommunities. In this episode I discuss the establishment of the Pro-Jerusalem Society in 1918, its composition, and its aims. In presenting the society's activities, I will focus on a particular decision first proposed by the society and later adopted by the Town Planning Commission: the adoption of Jerusalem – white – stone as the only visible building material allowed. This decision changed the way the city would look and develop.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/jerusalemunplugged. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Led by General Allenby, British troops entered Jerusalem in December 1917, ending Ottoman rule and opening a new and crucial era in the history of Jerusalem and Palestine. The history of Jerusalem has traditionally been depicted as the quintessential history of conflict and strife, of ethnic and communal tensions and of incompatible national narratives and visions. The transition from Ottoman to British rule marked a dramatic and radical change in the history of the city, often described as the beginning of a period of great transformation. Looking at the riots that took place in the city in April 1920, this episode will explore the emergence of structured urban violence in Jerusalem and the ways itsuperseded communal violence. The context is provided by the political framework set by the British with the Balfour Declaration, the largescale arrival of Zionists in Palestine and the reshaping of the urban fabric of Jerusalem.BibliographyMazza, Roberto (2013). Per the 1962 film, when in Damascus and a large fire broke out, one of General Allenby's subordinates asked him, “What should be done?” to which Allenby replied, “Nothing, it's usually best.” So, when a problem arises and you're faced with a myriad of options, often your best choice is to do nothing, i.e., the Allenby Rule.

We continue to look closely at the prophetic Psalms in this lesson. Here, we investigate the Psalms which seem to foretell a major inflection point in God's end-times plan to prepare the land of Israel for the return of her people, and the people for the return to their land. It strongly seems that the key event of the holocaust of the mid-20th century was foretold by God in the Psalms. We know that nothing can happen to God's chosen unless it is actually done by God or allowed through His permissive will. We also know that, although we may not understand why, God allows certain events that are negative or downright evil in His peoples' lives to accomplish His good will in them. We do know for sure that these events always are for the good of His people and for His glory. Always. No doubt, the mid-20th century arrival of Hitler and the holocaust was allowed as part of God's end-time plan that started manifesting in the mid-1800's through out the mid-20th century to get the land of Israel ready for the return of His people, AND to make the people ready for the return to their land as the reconstituted nation of Israel. It culminated in 1948 as they became a nation again, and in 1967 when they regained Jerusalem as their own and the Mount Moriah (the Temple Mount) as well. The main thrust of this preparation of Israel commenced just after WWI with the General Allenby gaining Jerusalem back for the Ottoman Turks for the British Crown. Then came the Balfour Declaration and the British Mandate to beginning the process of bringing Israel back into her land. .Just as God did for Israel with the peoples of Egypt at the Exodus, people from around the world in the 20th century were finding it in their heart to have compassion on the dispersed Jewish people, to give them their own nation so that they may stop wandering and “finally” have a “new” place to call their own country. History is facinating and really does inform our understanding of God's plan and His Word that details it all! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/biblestudyweekly/message
30 January 2018 Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Luke 2:41-52 + Homily 15 Minutes 11Seconds Link to the Readings (New American Bible, Revised Edition) http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/123018.cfm (from the parish bulletin) Christians in the Indian state of Kerala are about 20% of the population. An amateur film recorded there shows some workers struggling with a power shovel to rescue a baby elephant from a ditch. I do not know if they were Christians, Hindus, Muslims or a mix, but they succeeded. The happy juvenile dashed back to its herd, and as the adult elephants formed a line to depart, they raised their trunks in salute to the rescuers. That was one example of their enigmatic sensibility. That they have long memories is no myth: they can remember watering holes from years back; they can communicate by subsonic rumbles along the ground faster than sound can travel through air; they have rituals for mourning their dead; and they peacefully spend sixteen hours a day eating, which is more than the average New Yorker. Every creature has gifts that science is gradually discovering, such as the almost mathematically improbable migratory habits of penguins and the telescopic vision of hawks. These are prodigies of God’s extravagant love. The Christ Child arranged to be born in a makeshift menagerie rather than in a hotel where pets might not have been allowed. This Child “. . . is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature . . . And he is before all things, and by him all things consist” (Colossians 1:15, 17). Animals at least could provide some body warmth, which in that fragile first moment of the Child’s exposed human nature was more important than any rhetoric, and more practical than the lofty song of angels. It may not be too fanciful to think that, as a donkey can live up to forty years, God’s providence might have arranged for a donkey in that stable to be the one that the Child grown into manhood rode into Jerusalem. At least it was some donkey, that with its hellish bray and flapping ears looked like the “devil’s walking parody” as Chesterton said, but equipped for that final triumph with “a shout about my ears, / And palms before my feet.” In 1898 Kaiser Wilhelm II entered Jerusalem on a white horse. In 1917 General Allenby pointedly entered on foot. A scraggly donkey was the most royal beast, for the rarest jewel of rulers is humility. “See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9). Perhaps at Christ’s coming, with their sensory gifts we cannot yet fully understand, the animals in the stable knew more about the Holy Child than humans realize. In that first Christmas moment, they were able to do what only saints in heaven can do, for they gazed upon the face of God. “The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them” (Isaiah 11:6).
In Hollywood movies diplomats always get a bad rap. I’m picturing Claude Rains as “Mr. Dryden” in Lawrence of Arabia looking, as Clyde Rains always does, somewhat reptilian as he hunches over a map of the Middle East with General Allenby, smirking secretively. Hollywood diplomats are slippery. Untrustworthy. More often than not, they turn out to be double agents. On screen, definitive action plays better than careful talk or compromise. This is true of America in general and of our politics in particular—we’re just not comfortable with ambiguity. Leave that to the French. Americans are about gettin’ things done. But the geopolitical world is complex, and allegedly getting more so every day. Meanwhile, over the last several presidencies, America has quietly been shifting its foreign policy approach from diplomacy to military muscle. With the current president, the gutting of the State Department in favor of the Pentagon is starting to look like Friday the 13th part whatever. My guest today is investigative journalist and former State Department official Ronan Farrow. He won the Pulitzer Prize for his his work in the New Yorker on the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse scandal. His new book is War on Peace, The End of Diplomacy and The Decline of American Influence — and the title is pretty much self-explanatory. For me this story began in Jerusalem on December 11, 1917, but I didn't know it then. On that day, my grandmother Esther, who I'm named for, was one of the flower girls who welcomed General Allenby to the city of Jerusalem, which the British had just won from the Turks. My grandmother was born in Rishon L'Tzion - a little town whose name literally means First to Zion. It was established by Jews from Lithuania who came to what was then Turkish Palestine. A few years later she was one of the flower girls welcoming Allenby. And not long after that, she was on a ship to New York with her younger brother and sister. In New York, Esther met her husband who had also been born in Turkish Palestine and as a teenager wanted to join the British army but was only allowed to be a drummer boy. Eventually he made his way to New York - even after being denied entry the first time. They had two kids and took them on the long voyage back to Palestine to meet the relatives - grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Years later a third child was born, my father, who missed this trip. And many, many years after that, I became the first person in my immediate family to go to Israel when I spent my junior year of college living in Jerusalem. Wow did I love Jerusalem. I mean, really love Jerusalem - and all of Israel. And I miss it every day. Which is why, when I got the opportunity to read the new memoir Jerusalem, Drawn and Quartered, I really identified with the first line of the book: "This is a love story." The author, Sarah Tuttle Singer, and I talked about the complexities and the layers of Jerusalem, and about her experience living in four quarters of the Old City last year. I highly recommend getting a copy of her book, which is available in stores and on Amazon at http://bit.ly/JerusalemDrawnQuartered If you're not yet subscribed to the Out-of-the-Box Judaism podcast, I encourage you to do so now so you don't miss an episode. Upon General Edmund Henry Allenby's entrance into Jerusalem on December 11, 1917, after the British conquest of the city, he announced, “Now the Crusades have ended.” Forty years later(14,710 days or 40 years, 3 months, 10 days), in a speech on March 20, 1958, Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser repeated the story, saying, “It was no accident at all that General Allenby, commander of the British forces, said on arriving in Jerusalem: ‘Today the wars of the Crusaders are completed.'"
