In this episode of The VIP Voice, I sit down with the incredibly talented Oscar Torre—an actor and director whose career spans major productions like The Hangover Part III, The Haves and the Have Nots, Gaslit, and his directorial works Just a Man and a Woman and his latest creation, A Summer Night Movie. From Accidental Actor to Acclaimed TalentOscar's journey into acting wasn't planned—it was a twist of fate. What started as a last-minute elective course turned into a lifelong passion. He candidly shares how, in the beginning, he was nervous and, by his own admission, “pretty awful.” But through dedication and a deep commitment to authenticity, he transformed into a powerhouse performer. The Art of Fully Becoming the CharacterFor Oscar, acting is about total immersion. When the director calls “action,” he believes in immediate transformation—embracing the role with unwavering commitment. He also shares a key piece of wisdom: No matter your role, always act like the lead. He reflects on his experience in The Hangover Part III, where despite working alongside A-list stars like Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis, he remained focused on owning his presence on screen rather than getting caught up in starstruck moments.Stepping into Directing & Owning the VisionUnlike most first-time directors who start with short films, Oscar dove straight into a feature. Initially searching for a director, he eventually realized that no one understood the script's vision better than him—so he took the helm. This decision not only shaped the success of his films but also gave him a newfound respect for directing, teaching him how a director's leadership sets the tone for a production—either fostering peace or creating chaos.Building Strong Relationships in FilmOscar emphasizes the critical importance of relationships on set, particularly between the director and director of photography—a dynamic that can make or break a production. He shares how overcoming challenges, including nearly losing his mother during filming, shaped his perspective on resilience in the industry. The Surprising Connection Between COVID & OnlyFansOne of the most unexpected turns in our conversation? How the pandemic sparked a surge in OnlyFans content—giving people a new way to connect and financially sustain themselves. This trend became the foundation for his latest project, A Summer Night Movie, which was conceptualized during the production of Just a Man and a Woman. Golden Advice for Aspiring FilmmakersOscar leaves us with a powerful takeaway: You don't need to have it all figured out—just take action. Surround yourself with people who understand the craft, continuously refine your skills, and never wait for opportunities to be handed to you. True professionals stand out by their ability to repeat excellence—even after 15 takes. This episode is a must-listen for actors, directors, and creatives looking to break barriers in the entertainment industry!Tune in now to hear Oscar Torre's unfiltered journey into Hollywood's spotlight!#Podcast #OscarTorre #ActingTips #Hollywood #Filmmaking #MovieDirector #TheVIPVoice #BehindTheScenes #ActingJourney #FilmIndustry #CreativeMindset #IndependentFilm #HollywoodInsider #ActorLife #DirectingBuzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREEDisclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. Building Strong Relationships with Carrier RepsIn the latest episode of the "Insurance Business Babes" podcast, hosts Kathe Kline and Joanna Wyckoff stress the significance of cultivating strong relationships with carrier reps in the insurance industry. Through anecdotes and practical advice, they highlight the advantages of such alliances. The Importance of Carrier ConnectivityKathe opens with a reminder that while frustrations with carriers are common, maintaining a good rapport with them is invaluable. She shares a recent experience where her patience and initiative in engaging with her carrier rep, Fred, turned a potentially frustrating situation into a successful outcome. The situation emphasized how essential it is to have reps who are willing to advocate on your behalf. The Power of a Good Broker ManagerJoanna supports Kathe's claims by sharing her own positive interaction with a broker manager, underscoring the benefits of building a solid network with them. These relationships can prove crucial, not just for troubleshooting issues but also for gaining access to opportunities that might otherwise remain out of reach. Broker managers can be a powerful resource for aligning agents with client needs, managing fieldwork, and even distributing marketing resources effectively. Why Avoiding Carrier Bashing is CrucialBoth hosts stress the importance of maintaining professionalism, particularly in open forums or social media groups. Kathe and Joanna caution against publicly “bashing” carrier reps. Negative comments can impact your relationships, especially since the insurance world is surprisingly small; a poor reputation can follow agents across different carriers and roles.Making Connections Beyond Immediate BenefitsJoanna reminds us that the value of these relationships extends beyond immediate sales. Carrier reps often shift roles and companies, so today's interactions could open doors to future business opportunities. Both Kathe and Joanna advocate for investing time in relationship-building, as these connections can lead to unexpected benefits, including promotions, client introductions, and collaborative events. In conclusion, fostering positive relationships with carrier reps and broker managers isn't just professional etiquette; it's a strategic move to ensure long-term career success in the insurance industry. This episode is sponsored by CertifiedMedicareAgents.com

LaTonya, a chemist by training, discusses the critical role of strong partnerships, both internal and external, in her work to develop better oral care solutions. She emphasises that effective partnerships begin with understanding each party's motivations, curiosity, and what they can gain from collaboration. LaTonya describes how her team often partners with external academics for data analysis or with companies that need help navigating oral care regulations and metrics. She also highlights internal partnerships with product development and IT teams to bring ideas to fruition. She explains that the decision to build a competency or partner depends on project needs and whether the partnership is a long-term investment for the company. A major challenge lies in bridging the communication gap between different departments (e.g., scientists vs. IT) and ensuring all contributors, especially implementers, feel appreciated and recognised for their role. LaTonya maintains that transparency and authentic communication are also crucial to maintaining trust. She discusses how the most successful partnerships are with those who understand the value of the relationship. Finally, Andy and LaTonya talk about her passion to engage children in science, emphasising her role as a scientist and mentor. Her goal is to help them by making science fun and approachable early on, inspiring children to see science in their everyday lives, using simple experiments. Key Takeaways: Understanding Motivations: Successful partnerships begin with truly understanding what motivates each party, what their goals are, and how they can benefit from thecollaboration. Build vs. Partner: Decisions on whether to build internal expertise or partner externally should be made on a project-by-project basis, considering long-term value and needed expertise. Language and Communication: Bridging communication gaps between different departments or organisations is crucial. It is essential to adapt language, really listen, and find common ground. Appreciation is Key: Recognising and appreciating all contributors, including those in supporting roles, is vital for building and maintaining trust and morale. Research is Essential: Those seeking partnerships must demonstrate they understand the needs and value of the potential partner by doing their research and presenting it in the right perspective. How To Build Strong Relationships with Landowners for Hunting Access Building a strong relationship with landowners is key to accessing private land for hunting. Many hunters face challenges finding new hunting spots, but with the right approach, securing access can be made easier. Establishing trust, showing respect, and maintaining open communication with landowners are vital steps in building long-term relationships. We (Tigger & BEC, Jeff Erhardt & Rebecca Wanner) are both landowners, hunters, and outdoorsmen that believe strongly in wildlife conservation can blend well with agriculture. Starting off on the "right foot" to build that positive relationship is the key!   Key Tips for Success To Gain Hunting Access Research and Approach Landowners with Respect Before approaching a landowner, do your research. Understand their land and its boundaries. When meeting, be polite and respectful—first impressions are crucial. Avoid being overly pushy, as you're more likely to gain access if you approach them as a neighbor and fellow steward of the land. Show Appreciation for Their Property Demonstrating respect for the land is one of the most effective ways to gain and keep hunting access. Offer to help with property maintenance, such as repairing fences or inquiring how you might help. Small gestures go a long way in establishing trust and showing that you value the landowner's property.   Offer to Share the Harvest  When you do gain access, offering to share part of your game with the landowner is a great way to show appreciation. Whether it's a portion of your deer, elk, or pheasant, this thoughtful gesture can turn a one-time hunt into an ongoing opportunity. Maintain Open Communication Throughout the Season Set Clear Boundaries and Expectations Once you've gained permission, be clear about when and where you'll be hunting. Check in regularly with the landowner to ensure you are following their rules and respecting any changes they may have made. This builds trust and ensures both parties feel comfortable with the arrangement. Express Gratitude and Keep in Touch After the hunting season, send a thank-you note or a small token of appreciation to the landowner. Keeping in touch year-round, not just during hunting season, shows that you value the relationship beyond the hunting benefits. Why Strong Relationships with Landowners Matter Securing private land access provides unique hunting opportunities that aren't available on public lands. Private lands often have more diverse wildlife and fewer hunters, making for a more rewarding experience. Building strong relationships with landowners not only benefits hunters but also helps landowners maintain and protect their property. Additional Benefits of Developing Good Landowner Relations Long-term Hunting Opportunities: Establishing a good relationship can lead to repeated hunting access for years to come. Exclusive Hunting Rights: Some landowners may offer exclusive access to hunters they trust, giving you a prime hunting spot with less competition. Frequently Asked Questions About Hunting Access on Private Land Do Landowners Require a Fee for Hunting Access? Some landowners may request a small fee or require you to sign a liability waiver. Always discuss these terms upfront to avoid any confusion. What Should I Avoid When Approaching a Landowner? Avoid approaching landowners during busy times, such as harvest season. Be patient and polite, and avoid making demands or rushing the conversation. Conclusion: Build Positive Relationships for Future Hunting Success Building strong, positive relationships with landowners is essential for gaining and maintaining access to private hunting land. By showing respect, offering help, and expressing gratitude, you can develop lasting partnerships that benefit both you and the landowner. Taking these steps not only helps you find new hunting opportunities but also strengthens local land conservation efforts. In this powerful and insightful episode of the Father and Joe podcast, Joe Rockey and Father Boniface Hicks delve into the profound topic of vulnerability, particularly in the context of our modern, digitally connected world. With the rise of social media and the pressures it brings, many of us—and our children—are navigating a landscape where personal worth is often judged by likes and comments. But is this really the vulnerability that leads to growth and meaningful relationships? As Father Boniface Hicks eloquently shares, true vulnerability is not about seeking validation from strangers online, but rather about taking the courageous step to be open in our real-world relationships, even when it comes with the risk of getting hurt. "Wisdom needs you. Wisdom is experienced, it's lived knowledge, it's embodied insight," he explains. The conversation challenges the misconception that vulnerability is merely about being exposed to judgment, instead framing it as an essential element of wisdom, growth, and authentic human connection.Throughout the episode, Father Boniface highlights the importance of community and the danger of isolation, particularly in moments of pain. "Trauma is not about the pain. Trauma is about being alone in the pain," he stresses. By sharing personal stories and practical advice, Joe and Father Boniface offer guidance on how we, as parents and individuals, can foster healthy, supportive communities that help us navigate life's challenges—whether it's a child's first steps, a young adult's foray into social media, or the deep wounds that life inevitably brings. The discussion also touches on the delicate balance parents must strike in today's world: How do we allow our children to explore and grow, knowing they may get hurt? How do we teach them to navigate a world that is not always safe, without sheltering them from its realities? Joe reflects on this as a father himself, questioning whether encouraging his son to climb a tree, knowing he might fall, is an act of harm or an important life lesson. In a world that often promotes a false sense of safety, this episode reminds us that true resilience is built not by avoiding risk, but by learning to face it with the support of those who love us. As Father Boniface wisely notes, "Stay in relationship, make everything possible. Don't shut down your children. Don't invalidate their pain. Don't dismiss them and neglect them. Love them. Listen to them. Be with them in their pain."This episode is a must-listen for anyone seeking to understand the deeper meaning of vulnerability, the importance of community, and the role of wisdom in navigating the complexities of modern life. Whether you're a parent, a young adult, or simply someone looking to deepen your relationships, the insights shared here will resonate deeply and offer practical steps for living a more connected and meaningful life.Remember to like, share, and subscribe to our channel, and leave us a comment or review to help others find this valuable content.
