The first training will be on August 4-7 in Dallas, Texas. Just use code INAUG25 to get your discount: https://neurocycleinstitute.com SHOW DESCRIPTION: In this podcastI talk about dreaming and mental health. This topic was inspired by an email I recently received: “Since dreams come from our busy minds, can we slowly over time change our dreams in some way? I do not always remember dreams obviously but when I am awakened by dreams (often) or remember the next day, I do have a recurring pattern of always hurrying or being super frustrated, anxious! I cannot help but think this is part of why I get so tired some days as I do not rest peacefully at night. I'm just thinking dreams must be all part of the mental mind and I would love to have my dreams peaceful, pleasant, restful, whether I remember the dream or not, I feel like not having all the anxiety and frustration in the dreams would be very helpful to my awake hours.” We need to remember that detoxing the mind and brain doesn't just take place when we are awake. We also detox our thoughts when we sleep. in fact, our dreams can help us sort out our thoughts and clean up our mental mess. They have a purpose—recurring dreams may even indicate an unresolved issue in our lives, so it is important that we try and pay attention to what we dream about. Let's talk about boards, baby! This week we are joined by Latrina Walden, MHA, MSN, FNP-C, FNP-BC and CEO & Owner of Latrina Walden Exam Solutions to talk all about medical board exams. She talks about what sparked her interest in the NP route, and specifically the FNP route. She discusses why she wanted to create Latrina Walden Exam Solutions for nurses, and she highlights the gap between our education and studying for the boards, as it's completely different from how you're tested in schools. She offers insight into when you should start studying, and differences between taking the boards and the NCLEX. She shares what people can expect from her course, and a few things people should consider before embarking on the journey of becoming an NP. Narcissistic Relationship Coach and Psychologist Dr. Jaime Zuckerman joins your hosts to talk all about navigating and exiting a relationship with a narcissist. Many healthcare workers identify as fixers and people pleasers, which can make them even more likely to fall victim to a narcissist. Dr. Z is here to teach us how to protect ourselves and spot abusive behavior. She talks about whether a narcissist can actually change, and if male and female narcissists present differently. Dr. Z explains what a narcissist is not, and how narcissism functions on a spectrum. She also highlights the need for a full-on exit strategy, and the post-breakup abuse that often occurs when someone leaves a narcissist. We hope that if anything from this conversation resonates with you, or you find yourself in a relationship with a narcissist, this offers that final push you need to ask for help. TW: COVID, Death, Suicide As we acknowledge the two-year anniversary of the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we welcome the incredible Christian Franz, who worked in an ICU in NYC, to discuss his experience on the frontlines. Christian talks about how he made it through each day alongside media and online misinformation, and the trauma and heartbreak he experienced as, at one point, he was saying goodbye to around 7-10 patients a night. He talks about how pre-existing flaws in the healthcare system became so much more apparent during this time, why he made the decision to start studying medicine, and how he wants to dedicate his life to fixing the system and uniting nurses and doctors. On top of all of that, he has an IG live series and podcast called Friends of Franz which aims to humanize healthcare workers and broaden access to medical information. This is an incredibly emotional episode highlighting the unresolved mental health consequences of this pandemic for our frontline workers.
