In today's episode, I am so excited to welcome my very special guest Aviva Gordon to discuss the process of making changes in one's life and not settling for less. Aviva is a highly successful super lawyer who, among her many, many other achievements, has been included in the Distinguished Women of Nevada Book, is a member of the Nevada Women's Hall of Fame and the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, and has been the chairperson for the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. She is also the mother to three children, enjoys a full life outside of her work, and just happens to be a past client of mine. Throughout the episode, we will delve into the challenges and rewards of recognizing and addressing areas in which we may be settling in our lives. We also discuss the importance of slowing down and taking stock of our progress, as well as the steps we can take to make meaningful change. Together, Aviva and I draw upon our own personal experiences and the strategies we have learned to effectively deal with negative self-talk and toxic thoughts and share this valuable information with listeners here today. Aviva is also the perfect guest to have on the podcast as I share some news about the She Doesn't Settle Group program, which is currently open for enrollment, and a new program for past clients to continue their work with more accountability and support. The Finer Details of This Episode: Kelly's program for past clients Aviva's experience in the She Doesn't Settle Group program and the changes she has made in her life since participating Recognizing and addressing areas in which we may be settling in our lives Slowing down and taking stock of our progress Being aware of and managing one's inner dialogue What has helped develop skills for recognizing and responding to toxic self talk The purpose or function of negative inner dialogue Strategies for effectively dealing with negative self talk and toxic thoughts Quotes: "As you may know from listening to this podcast, the She Doesn't Settle Group program is open for enrollment and you can use the link in the show notes to take the assessment to identify what areas you may be settling in and what that is doing in terms of impacting other areas of your life and what you need to do to make change and how to start." "We are all a work in progress. That's why I want to offer something to past clients, so we can continue to do the work not at the level in terms of time that the She Doesn't Settle program offers, but definitely consistent support and opportunity for that." "Aviva speaks directly to this [making changes in your life and not settling]. She is an amazing person, very successful in her field of work, driven, ambitious. You'll relate to her." "And most importantly, what you taught me was you can talk back to it. What was great about what you had done with us was prepare us to talk back to it. When the voice says this, how are you going to respond to it?” "If there is nothing else that I can talk about from going through your program, it really is having the skills to recognize that toxic self talk and to confront it is still in my head. It's always going to go away. That's never going to go away." "There is a reason that we have that. But it doesn't mean that you have to believe it, and it doesn't mean you have to listen to it all the time." “Processing of what it was that some of the other women were sharing, and really the vulnerability that we all allowed ourselves to feel in that context, I suspect was something unique for all of us - to allow ourselves to be vulnerable and to really safely and collaboratively tease out whatever it was that was happening. “ “What I appreciate and what served the sort of logical part of my brain is that the information that you provide and the help that you provide is science based.” Links: She Doesn't Settle Podcast She Doesn't Settle - The Experience Instagram: www.instagram.com/shedoesntsettle/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/withkellytravis/ One-on-One Coaching & Group Sessions

What is the role of a chamber of commerce in the business community? It involves more than you might think. In this episode of Small Biz Power, our guest is Lisa Chao, the Vice President of Membership for the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. Lisa’s career spans 20-years in the realm of business development. She’s a Las Vegas native and known as a go-to “business connector” throughout Southern Nevada. Currently, in her role at the Henderson Chamber, Lisa directs the organization’s long-term member development goals, including sales strategies and effective programming. When she’s not working, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family attending sporting events, including those from her alma mater, UNLV. Lisa and I cover a lot of ground in this episode, including what the chamber is doing in the wake of the tragic mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip. Questions I ask Lisa Chao: What is the toughest part about convincing people to join the chamber? What are the most common problems small business owners face? What’s unique about doing business in Las Vegas? What’s on the horizon for businesses in Las Vegas with the addition of two major league sports teams? What You’ll Learn If You Listen: How you as a business owner can give back to the victims of the Las Vegas Strip shooting What you can gain from chamber membership and how many members they currently have The difference between the Henderson Chamber and the Las Vegas Metro Chamber and why you don’t need a Henderson address to be a member Why there’s more to the Henderson Chamber than just networking Links to Things We Talked About & Follow the Henderson Chamber on Social Media: Henderson Chamber Website Henderson Chamber Facebook Henderson Chamber Twitter Like what you hear?
