In this episode of the Shift AI Podcast, Alex Waddell, Chief Information Officer at Adobe Population Health, joins host Boaz Ashkenazy live from Dreamforce in San Francisco for a deep dive into AI adoption in one of the most highly regulated—and most impactful—industries: healthcare.Alex shares his unconventional journey from Salesforce administrator to CIO, and how Adobe Population Health built a custom electronic medical record (EMR) on the Salesforce platform to support population health case management long before it became an industry buzzword. The conversation explores why traditional EMRs often get in the way of care—and how AI can help remove friction so clinicians can focus on patients, not paperwork.Together, Boaz and Alex unpack how AI is being applied today to reduce clinician burnout, automate documentation, improve quality assurance, and deliver the right data at the right time. Alex also explains why “augmented intelligence,” not full automation, is the future of healthcare—and why humans will always remain at the center of care delivery. The episode closes with a thoughtful discussion on AI adoption, clinician trust, and why involving end users directly in building AI workflows is essential for success. This episode is a must-listen for healthcare leaders, technologists, and operators who want to understand how AI can drive real-world outcomes—not just efficiency metrics.Key Themes & TakeawaysWhy population health required building a custom EMR from scratchThe hidden cost of documentation and clinician burnoutHow AI can get “the system out of the way” of patient careUsing AI for chart summarization, note generation, and QA auditsOvercoming fear and resistance to AI in regulated environmentsWhy adoption—not technology—is the real challengeThe future of healthcare as augmented intelligenceChapters[00:00] Welcome & Live from Dreamforce[01:30] Alex Waddell's Journey: From Admin to CIO[03:39] Building a Custom EMR for Population Health[05:45] Data, Interoperability, and MuleSoft[06:45] Reducing Clinician Burnout with AI[08:24] Voice, Automation, and the Future of Admin Work[09:30] Using AI for Quality Assurance at Scale[10:49] AI's Real Impact on Patient Outcomes[12:20] “Augmented Intelligence” and the Future of Work[14:00] Adoption, Trust, and Bringing Clinicians Along[16:00] Learning More & Closing ThoughtsEpisode Quote“An EMR doesn't change lives. We're revisiting one of our most-requested conversations — a practical, myth-busting look at estate planning with Melissa Joy, CFP®, and Ashley Waddell-Tingstad, founder of Treetown Law.Trusts often sound complicated or “for someone else,” but Ashley breaks them down into simple, everyday tools that protect families, minimize stress, and provide clarity during life's biggest transitions. What You'll Learn: • The essentials: Why powers of attorney and healthcare directives are the cornerstone of any estate plan. • Trusts vs. probate: What probate really involves — and why many families prefer to avoid it. • Beneficiary designations: How small updates can prevent major complications. • Revocable living trusts: The privacy, flexibility, and ease they provide (no, you don't need to be wealthy). • State-specific guidance: Why your plan should be created with local laws in mind. • Post-death protection: How trusts help shield assets from legal and financial vulnerabilities.Whether you're planning for the future or simply want to understand your options, this replay delivers clarity and confidence. The previous presentation by PEARL PLANNING was intended for general information purposes only. November 23, 2025 - Sunday AM Bible Class In this episode the teacher delivers what he calls his final class in the book of John and clarifies last week's discussion on worship and encouragement. The session reviews why worship must be centered on God and how Christians should build one another up: encouraging performers young and old, supporting preachers and leaders, and showing grace in our speech. Practical pastoral counsel stresses the need to be present at worship even when we feel unprepared, drawing on Hebrews 4:15–16 and other scriptures to reassure listeners that coming to the assembly provides mercy and help in time of need. The main biblical focus is on Jesus as the true temple. Using John and Old Testament references the speaker traces the theme of God dwelling with his people — from the tabernacle to Jesus (John 1:14) — and explains how Jesus is the connection between heaven and earth (John 1:51, Jacob's ladder imagery). Jesus' cleansing of the temple (John 2:13–17) is presented both as a display of his authority and as a call to purity: God's house should be a house of prayer, not a den of profiteering. The talk also examines Jesus' provocative claim about destroying the temple and raising it in three days, showing how that points to his death and resurrection and the replacement of the old temple system. Key scriptural moments covered include Jesus teaching openly in the temple (John 7), the leaders' fear that Rome would remove their place (John 11), and how repeated New Testament passages emphasize access to the Father through Christ (John 14:6; Hebrews 10; 1 Timothy 2:5). The speaker ties these passages to practical lessons: do not cling to earthly buildings or possessions as security, stay rooted in scripture, look back on life experiences to understand Jesus' words, and build your life on Christ rather than on shifting earthly foundations. Pastoral application throughout the lesson includes encouraging one another daily (Philippians 2; Ephesians 4; 1 Thessalonians 5:11), pursuing holiness and inward purity (James, Psalms, Proverbs), and rejoicing in the spiritual fruits and joy that come from abiding in Christ (John 6–8; Galatians 5:22). The episode closes with a reminder that Jesus is the final sacrifice and mediator who grants forgiveness and access to God, and the speaker urges listeners to know, obey, and abide in Christ as the true temple. Barrett is mentioned as taking the next class to summarize previous lessons; class participants contribute reflections during the discussion. Duration 39:48

November 16, 2025 - Sunday AM Bible Class In this episode a church class dives into John 4:21–24 to unpack what it means to "worship the Father in spirit and in truth." The host leads a practical, Scripture-based conversation that revisits Jesus' exchange with the Samaritan woman and challenges listeners to evaluate the sincerity, direction, and authority of their worship. Key biblical passages referenced include John 4, Matthew 15, Acts 17, Colossians 2:23, Psalm 122:1, Proverbs 14:12, and Isaiah 42:8. The episode features contributions and anecdotes from congregation members—Barrett (on the "I AM" statements), Clint Harbison (on singing to God, not the crowd), Phil and others—making the discussion interactive and grounded in real worship experiences. Questions from attendees shape the conversation about practical church life and personal devotion. Major themes include distinguishing true worship from three kinds of false worship (vain/empty worship, ignorant worship, and will-worship/self-made religion), the scriptural requirement that worship be directed toward God alone, and why God does not have to accept worship offered outside His revealed will. The message emphasizes that worship is not a matter of personal preference but of obedience to God's Word. The host and guests also address concrete, everyday issues: the importance of preparing your heart before coming to assembly, maintaining the right attitude and spirit during singing, prayer, and the Lord's Supper, avoiding distractions that hinder others, and resisting the urge to use worship to impress people or elevate leaders. Practical tips include being mentally prepared, focusing on the meaning of the Lord's Supper, and balancing encouragement with humility. The episode stresses a cultural shift from consumer-minded attendance to a giver's posture—asking "What can I do for God?" rather than "What will I get?" Listeners are encouraged to point praise to God when affirming others, so encouragement builds faith rather than ego. In closing, the class reminds listeners that worship is the most important activity of the week and a rehearsal for eternity: learn to worship rightly now so you can join in heaven's unending praise. Expect candid reflection, scripture teaching, practical application, and timely encouragement to prepare your heart and actions for authentic worship. Duration 40:53

This week on the Hemp Show, we're talking to Jake Waddell from the Hemp Building Institute about the future of hemp construction, building codes and embodied carbon. Hemp-lime construction has come a long way — from early experiments in a garage to an officially recognized building material in the International Residential Code. Environmental Product Declarations, or EPDs, are changing how sustainability is measured in construction and what that means for hemp-based materials. And even when government funding for climate-forward projects gets cut, the people driving this industry keep finding ways to move forward. "Now we have codes. We've had a lot of progress and movement into making hemp-lime construction more of a realistic prospect rather than just a really good idea," Waddell said. We also discussed why EPDs are critical if hemp is going to be recognized for what it does best. Waddell explains that when hemp-based materials lock carbon into a building, that carbon stays out of the atmosphere for decades — a measurable climate benefit that current systems often overlook. "Trapping carbon in a building keeps it out of the atmosphere — and that's a real benefit," he said. All that and more. November 02, 2025 - Sunday AM Bible Class In this episode Jeremy continues a quarter-long study in the Gospel of John and takes a focused look at John 3:16–21, building on Phil's earlier verse-by-verse treatment. Through scripture references across the New Testament (John, Matthew, Colossians, Romans, Hebrews, Titus, Ephesians and more) the message explores who Jesus is — God's only Son, Lord and God, the Light, our Hope, the Source of Life, Friend, Judge, the Author and Finisher of our faith, and our Savior. The episode mixes theological exposition with practical application: it distinguishes hope in Jesus from mere wishful thinking, explains why Jesus is not a rubber-stamp for our choices, and emphasizes obedience and daily practice as evidence that “Jesus is our life.” The speaker uses relatable examples and stories (including a testimony about prayer and work, a showing-cows analogy, and a race/pacer metaphor) to illustrate assurance, judgment, and Christian living. Listeners will hear brief contributions from others in the room — references to the earlier presenter, the speaker's daughters who describe what Jesus means to them, and input from congregants — which highlight how different ages and backgrounds describe Jesus while underscoring that He is the same for all. Key takeaways: recognize Jesus as both Lord and God rather than a figure who merely approves our choices; place confident assurance (not wishful thinking) in the hope Jesus provides; live out faith by practicing what you preach; cherish Jesus as a personal friend who laid down His life; remember that He will be the judge who knows us; and center your life on Christ, the author and finisher of faith. The episode concludes with a call to fill in the blank — who is Jesus to you — and to let that answer shape how you live. Duration 42:19
Nick Kypreos, Justin Bourne and Sam McKee start with a look back on the Leafs' 4-3 win over the Calgary Flames. They get into Max Domi's two-goal night, the Leafs' team structure still working up to speed, how they can improve the struggling power play, and Anthony Stolarz showing slight signs of regression. Later, Blue Jackets GM and President of Hockey Ops. Don Waddell joins the show (31:18) ahead of his team's matchup against the Leafs to discuss Columbus's start to the year, the trade landscape in a raised-cap world, Yegor Chinakhov's trade request, and much more. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
October 19, 2025 - Sunday AM Bible Class In this episode the instructor opens class with hymn 260 and launches into an in-depth study of John 15:1–11, focusing on the theme of abiding in Christ. The speaker frames chapter 15 around three relationships — disciples with the Father and Son, disciples with one another, and disciples with the world — and centers today's lesson on the first relationship: what it means to abide in Christ and how that shapes our life with God and the church. Topics covered include Jesus as the true vine and the Father as the vine-dresser, the imagery of branches bearing fruit, the conditional and provable nature of abiding (bearing fruit as evidence), and the pruning process — why God removes what hinders growth. The episode emphasizes humility and dependence in prayer, the reciprocal love between Jesus and his followers, and the blessings and warnings tied to faithfulness (answered prayer, increased fruitfulness, glory to the Father versus being cut off and burned). Practical application is highlighted throughout: using and developing spiritual gifts, serving the congregation, helping others discover their talents, and concrete spiritual practices to remain in Christ — prayer, praise, study and meditation on Scripture, service, repentance, and consistent growth. Anecdotes (including a farm example) and references to supporting passages (Romans, Ephesians, Hebrews, and Old Testament vine imagery) help connect doctrine to daily Christian living. Guests/participants are the class instructor and attending members who contribute reflections and questions. Key takeaways: abiding is continuous and measurable by fruit, Jesus has already modeled what he asks, spiritual fruitfulness requires humility and practice, and God both prunes and rewards those who remain in the vine. This week on the podcast, Patrick and Tracy welcome Mark Waddell, author of Colin Gets Promoted and Dooms the World. About Colin Gets Promoted and Dooms the World: Colin is a low-level employee at Dark Enterprises, a Hell-like multinational corporation solving the world's most difficult problems in deeply questionable ways. My guest this week is writer Mark Waddell. His novel, Colin Gets Promoted and Dooms the World, comes out next week on October 7 — a queer story about an office worker whose career advancement involves world-ending consequences. There's an autobiographical edge to the story, since in his real life Mark had a dream job going back to childhood… and it was only after he achieved it that he realized just how harmful his dreams were, and decided to leave it all behind to become a writer. We'll have that conversation in just a minute. First, a few announcements: As I'm sure you know, I make YouTube videos about iconic movies and TV shows, and I have a brand new video out now about the movie Kiss of the Spider Woman — and how it was made in defiance of the film industry, in defiance of Ronald Reagan, and in defiance of multiple fascist dictators. That's available now at youtube.com/mattbaume.The topic of next month's video is the iconic 1931 Frankenstein film and its maker, James Whale — and in his honor, for the entire month of October I'm hosting livestreams of films by and about James Whale. Join me every Saturday and Sunday on Twitch for movies like The Old Dark House, The Invisible Man, Gods and Monsters starring Ian McKellen and Brendan Fraser, and of course Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein. These films helped define a century of scary movies, and they are incredibly queer. It all starts this Saturday October 4 at noon pacific at Twitch.tv/mattbaume.
George Edward "Rube" Waddell (October 13, 1876 – April 1, 1914) was an American pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB). A left-hander, he played for 13 years, with the Louisville Colonels, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Chicago Orphans in the National League, as well as the Philadelphia Athletics and St. Louis Browns in the American League. Born in Bradford, Pennsylvania, and raised in Prospect, Pennsylvania, Waddell was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1946. Waddell is best remembered for his highly eccentric behavior, and for being a remarkably dominant strikeout pitcher in an era when batters were expert at making contact. He had an excellent fastball, a sharp-breaking curveball, a screwball, and superb control; his strikeout-to-walk ratio was almost 3-to-1, and he led the major leagues in strikeouts for six consecutive years.

Over 1,300 athletes from 12 countries gathered at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco for the first-ever Gay Games, on 28th August, 1982. Intended as the “Gay Olympics,” the event had to change its name at the last minute after the US Olympic Committee sued. But the opening ceremony was electric, with none other than Tina Turner performing at a pivotal moment in her career - a bold and unprecedented move for a superstar at a gay event in the early ‘80s. The brainchild of Olympic decathlete Tom Waddell, the Games were intended to show that you could be openly gay and still achieve greatness - even in a city and community plagued by HIV. Waddell prioritized inclusion over nationalism, having athletes march by city instead of country, and selected a Black gay man and cancer survivor, Richard Hunter, to light the cauldron - symbolizing unity and resilience. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly marvel at the diversity of the opening parade; reveal the child that was conceived as a direct result of the event; and consider why the Games have never been televised… Further Reading: • ‘Tom Waddell, the amazing man behind Gay Games' (ESPN, 2014): https://www.espn.com/story/_/id/11305954/tom-waddell-amazing-man-gay-games • ‘The Gay Games are still relevant. US equity-index futures and shares of Nvidia retreated after the chipmaker's sales outlook missed lofty expectations, weighing on sentiment around the world's most valuable listed company. Nvidia said Wednesday that sales will be roughly $54 billion in the fiscal third quarter, which runs through October. Though that was in line with the average Wall Street estimate, some analysts had projected more than $60 billion. The outlook adds to concern that the pace of investment in AI systems is unsustainable. Difficulties in China also have clouded Nvidia's business. Though the Trump administration recently eased curbs on exports of some AI chips to that country, the reprieve hasn't yet translated into a rebound in revenue. We get reaction from David Waddell, CEO and Chief Investment Strategist at Waddell & Associates.Meantime, Bloomberg Opinion's Shuli Ren says a new China-buys-China narrative is taking shape as Beijing steps up its tech rivalry with the US. In her latest column, she writes that the world's second-largest economy not only wants to build generative AI models, but power them with its own hardware, redrawing a supply chain dominated by Nvidia. Shuli joins Bloomberg's Shery Ahn and Avril Hong on The Asia Trade.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Send us a textStephen Waddell takes us on a powerful journey of self-discovery as he shares how he uncovered his autism in adulthood after building a successful modeling career. Despite being naturally introverted and struggling with social interactions, Stephen found himself thrust into a profession that demanded social fluency – forcing him to systematically develop scripts and strategies that masked his autistic traits.A near-fatal accident on the New York subway at age 21 became Stephen's turning point. After surviving contact with the third rail, he emerged with a renewed determination to engage with life, methodically teaching himself social skills and transforming physically – losing nearly 200 pounds before unexpectedly entering the modeling world. This brutal forcing of social interaction became both his challenge and eventual strength. What makes Stephen's perspective particularly valuable is his insight into the exhausting nature of social masking. "It's been 15 years of doing the same kind of thing over and over again," he explains, describing how his carefully constructed public persona differs dramatically from his private self. He demonstrates how simple tools like his collection of stimming rocks provide essential sensory regulation when overwhelm hits. Now focused on nonprofit accounting, Stephen offers a fascinating perspective on how artificial intelligence can level the playing field for neurodivergent individuals. By automating social communications that would typically require significant emotional energy, AI helps him bypass the need for masking in many situations. His vision for technology as an equalizer offers hope for creating more accessible professional environments. For young autistic people struggling with that "social confusion fog," Stephen's message is clear: "Take your time, it does get better." His journey from confusion to clarity demonstrates how understanding your neurodivergent mind can transform perceived limitations into unique strengths and open unexpected paths forward.https://tonymantor.comhttps://Facebook.com/tonymantorhttps://instagram.com/tonymantorhttps://twitter.com/tonymantorhttps://youtube.com/tonymantormusicintro/outro music bed written by T.
