In the middle of the financial crisis we're experiencing, people are acting out of desperation, and emotions are possibly leading the charge. Raoul Pal is back to help us understand what is the current state of crypto, why FTX has been using customer money and more importantly, why is this not as unusual as you may think. Raoul's insights as a macro investor, former hedge fund manager that retired at 36, and co-founder of Real Vision, a financial media company, takes us to a high level view to string together how world history and demographics have brought us to this point. The key takeaway here for you is that, “the game of money is a game of psychology.” Tom Bilyeu Once you understand that this is a game, we need to know the players, the rules. The ultimate indicator of how you play this game, as Raoul explains it, is the future version of yourself and what that version wants. It indicates your debts, your risk tolerance, and what your next financial move will be following this interview.Whatever you do, do so from a place of minimizing your emotional response and play the game well.Mentioned in this episode:Homo Deus by Yuval Noah Hariri: https://www.amazon.com/Homo-Deus-Brief-History-Tomorrow/dp/0062464310 SHOW NOTES:0:00 | What In The Crypto Is Going On?14:02 | The Emotional Cycle of Money23:46 | Inflation Vs. (00:00) Intro (02:14) T-Shirts. America's Post-election Chaos. The Republican Party's failure to acknowledge Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' historic popular and electoral college vote win--raises fear of a potential coup. But GOP delusion about their election loss seems to be only matched by their legal incompetence. None of the election challenges are going anywhere, many have already been thrown out of court. Biden's 306 electors are legally required to respect the will of the people, and even the republican legislatures in 4 marginal states have rejected the notion of replacing electors. Mike Pompeo's treason on the world stage has sullied the image of the United States. Trump's fund-raising corruption. (22:51) Africa News: Ivory Coast post-election violence. Ghana's former president Jerry Rawlings dies. Mali runs successful anti-terror operation and kills Al Qaeda leader. (31:16) Hong Kong: Beijing fires 4 pro-democracy legislators, 15 more resign. Hong Kong's democracy is effectively dead. (37:51) The Blinded by the Light Podcast: Christophe Difo and Sean Prophet will be guests of Bayard Lewis, guest episode to air Monday November 30, 2020. (40:04) What does it mean to be Radically Secular? This is our definitive explainer of our founding philosophy. Secularism vs. atheism. Secularism as a positive position vs. criticism of religion. Secularism as the strongest protection for religious freedom. Religious freedom vs. religious privilege, and the terrible legal doctrines regarding the first amendment--being promoted by Associate Justice Samuel Alito, and other theocratic Supreme Court Justices like Clarence Thomas and Amy Coney Barrett. Secularism as the opposite of theocracy, and an antidote for sectarianism. Secularism as the underpinning of the rule of law, and of justice, and equality. Secularism and religious tax exemption. Secularism in education. _____________________________ Show notes: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9ibGluZGVkcG9kY2FzdC5saWJzeW4uY29tL3Jzcw (The Blinded by The Light Podcast) https://www.pewforum.org/2020/11/10/in-2018-government-restrictions-on-religion-reach-highest-level-globally-in-more-than-a-decade/ (PEW Study on Religious Repression) https://www.amazon.com/Homo-Deus-Brief-History-Tomorrow/dp/0062464310 (Homo Deus, by Yuval Noah Harari) https://reason.com/volokh/2020/11/12/video-and-transcript-of-justice-alitos-keynote-address-to-the-federalist-society/ (Speech by Samuel Alito at the Federalist Society, November 12, 2020) _____________________________ Email: theradicalsecular@gmail.com Instagram: @radical_secular https://www.facebook.com/theradicalsecular (Facebook) Twitter: @RadicalSecular https://the-radical-secular.captivate.fm (Podcast) All standard podcast venues: Apple, Google, Spotify, Stitcher, Amazon, Gaana, Saavn

Nick White is the head of the AI department at Zeroth.ai. He helps startups in the accelerator to make the most of their potential with AI and grow their business. He also speaks and writes on AI and has a great medium blog, as well as practicing yoga and surfing in his spare time. Nick has some amazing life experiences we can learn from and has lots of great ideas and stories we can all enjoy. TIPS MASTERY TAKES TIME You can master anything with dedication and starting small. As part of the philosophy of the biggest journey still starts with a single step, if you have a passion project there is no reason to put it off and spending a small amount of time each day can quickly add up. Like the hare and the tortoise, if you can be dedicated and not bite off more than you can chew you will surely win. SACRIFICES ARE A PART OF LIFE It's great to be free and open to any opportunity. But if you want to master something and succeed you have to make sacrifices. Whether that is travelling less and having a home, or planning things in a calendar far in the future and sticking to it. I really love this attitude. Nick doesn't let the fact he is missing out on growing a successful banana ice cream biz with his mates get him down, instead he accepted that he made a logical choice to pursue AI and he couldn't do both successfully. DON’T LOSE TOUCH WITH WHO YOU ARE. It’s great to be shaped by your experiences and adapt to life in different situations, but don’t let yourself lose the values that make you great. Big cities can be cold places with little reason to be nice to those around you but wherever possible give the world a smile and make friendships with the people you come into contact even if only fleetingly. + it’ll make you happier =] BOOKS An avid reader. Would it be wise for humanity to clarify its ethics regarding the treatment of animals before artificial general intelligence (AGI) knocks humanity off the top of the pyramid?
