Dive back into 1980s children's biographies as podcasting siblings Bambi and Jamie Chambers explore The Value of Determination: The Story of Helen Keller. Bambi reads us the tale of an adorable baby named Helen who becomes a "nasty" little girl after being stricken blind and deaf by a fever. (Hey, it's their word not ours!) But with the help of a trio of imaginary leprechauns and a small assist from Anne Sullivan our heroine is able to overcome her disabilities and learn to communicate and somehow become a vaudeville performer. It's all about DETERMINATION in this kids' book that completely ignores Keller's political activism as a pacifist, feminist, and open socialist.Support the show and stay tuned with us on social media and discover more on our website: http://www.chainsawhistory.com

In this episode I talk with James Westland of Tobermory.

Born in a castle near Stirling, James, or Seamus as we know him, grew up around Alloa before going to Uni in St Andrews and then headed off shore and came back to land where he studied Gaelic at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, in Skye. It was at Sabhal Mor that he met Moira, who later became his wife. Eventually they chose to settle on Mull where they live to this day with their family in Tobermory. Our conversation moves between Seamus’ love of geology and the land, and how that journey started for him in the Ochil Hills, how landscape gives off certain feelings, Gaelic music and culture, his working life here on Mull and the geological make up of our islands and why they are so interesting. At the very end we also talk about Seamus’ father in law, the late, much missed Duncan MacGilp. We also have a wee natter in Gaelic at one point in the conversation for a couple of minutes. In Episode 18 the D6G crew puts on their brown coats and discuss the Serenity RPG in detail, after giving an overview of the concept of Role Playing Games for folks who've never had the pleasure of trying them. But that's not all.  We also get to interview Jamie Chambers, of Margaret Weis Productions (yes, the Margaret Weis from Dragonlance).  Jamie designed the Serenity RPG, and developed their upcoming Cortex game system, the same system used for their Battlestar Galactica RPG.  We have a nice long chat with Jamie about how he got involed in the industry, what it's like to design these games, and what future products are coming out. All that and our usual 'not too horrible' humor, with features such as: - When Wives Attack - Rapid Fire - The Hollywood Minute - Contests- & More If you'd like to discuss the show with us and others in our forum thread: .
