Our conversation today with Olivia Hilton, Director of Strategic Initiatives for the Town of Strasburg gave us all the details for Vintage in the Valley happening April 1, 2023. The 4th Annual Vintage in the Valley Festival will showcase nearly 100 vendors of vintage goods, antiques, and handmade crafts. Joining us for the chat were two vendors who are participating in the event as well as small businesses located within the Strasburg Emporium. Jamie & Jonathan Fuller (and their children) with Meliora Vintage / Meliora 3-D told us about their business, their 3D printing, and how excited they are to be part of VIntage in the Valley this year. Todd & Julie Bodnar from Bodnar Family Farm are first-time vendors at this year's event and brand new businesses in Strasburg Emporium (booth 23) and told us about the types of things you can find in their space and at their booth during the event. The event kicks off on Friday evening, March 31, 2023, at Box Office Brewery with a Decades Dance: Prom Edition from 7pm - 10pm - costume contest included. Start the day on Saturday with a visit to the Strasburg Square to pick up your event map, sip on a glass of Virginia wine from Star in the Valley Winery, and listen to a DJ through the decades. There will be a bounce house in the Wine Garden for those young at heart. Carriage rides will be offered so you can see how BIG the event spans. Make your way to the Strasburg Town Hall lot to kick off your shopping! The Strasburg Emporium is a HUGE partner for this event, hosting half a dozen live demonstrations, 40+ vendors outside, food trucks, and more live music (not to mention the 60+ vendors inside!) A Vintage Car Show will be parked from 10am - 3pm on Holliday Street! Proceeds benefit the Shenandoah Alliance for Shelter. A highlight of the festival is the Vintage Fashion Show hosted by Lydia's Clothes Closet. Their fashion spans from 1920 to present day and hosts over 50 models representing several generations and walks of life. Local restaurants will be offering daily specials along with downtown businesses hosting sidewalk sales. The day will wrap up at the town square where Shenandoah Film Collaborative will be showing a 'Movie Under the Stars' at 7pm: Little Shop of Horrors. There will be an Ol' Timers baseball game on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

Jonathan FullerEver since laying his first Lego brick, Jonathan has been fascinated by world-building. This passion grew during his younger years in the Midwest, leading him to study English in college. After graduating, he experienced the usual existential crisis of English majors who don't want to be teachers and bounced through several professions including a stint in the military. Throughout this journey he worked closely with his dear friend, Kristina Kelly, on a science fantasy book series that has, after over a decade of labor, finally found a home. The Etherea Cycle represents many things to him, but it is first and foremost a testament to the power of friendship and the beauty of life in all its forms. An ardent fan of science fiction and fantasy, Jonathan can talk about anime, cars, and RPGs ad infinite. He is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and currently resides in Texas where he enjoys playing flag football and attending all the concerts and festivals he can.Kristina KellySince childhood, writing stories on her parents' typewriter or cataloging her own books like a library, Kristina has been in love with storytelling. A writer of poetry, short stories, and novels, her SFF series, the Etherea Cycle, is written with her friend, Jonathan Fuller. What spawned out of their mutual love for science fiction and fantasy books, shows, and video games, blends what they love from both genres. Kristina currently resides in Indiana with her husband, two sons, and black lab. Her undergraduate pursuits focused on Psychology, Music, and Computer Science. With trumpet as her main instrument, and a connection to nature, Kristina often works music and visual landscapes into her writings. In her spare time, Kristina takes photography, plays video games, and tends to her flower garden. She loves going on new adventures in the great wide somewhere (sometimes just by picking up a new book).

Episode #28 - Amazing Mask Maker Jonathan Fuller - Another amazing episode of Channel Weird with Clyde Lewis from Portland, Oregon.
Protection of electrical circuits can be tricky to understand. Jonathan Fuller is an expert in these devices and breaks down how to differentiate between short circuit and overload protection. He points out that it starts with understanding what the upstream potential is that could damage the equipment from a huge inrush of instantaneous current. The short circuit device is the equipment that springs into action in these instances and can save end users a lot of headache, damage and potential downtime when configured correctly. As equipment runs the loads can vary. Sometimes the mechanical load varies or there can be other items that impact the current of the load. When that happens knowing how to select and configure an overload device can add significant run life to the assets. Jonathan unpacks the different types of load classes for the devices and even gives some advice for those that run into the "just turn the overload up" situations to keep production moving. Technology is changing fast in the world of circuit protection and this idea episode is designed to connect the dots for anyone in industry. To have a circuit that you can have confidence in takes proper design of both short circuit and overload protection - take the steps now to ensure the equipment meets your expectations of production, reliability, and safety. By focusing on the one-line Jonathan walks us through the different items that are generally found in industrial settings. Knowing the difference in switchgear, switchboard and panelboard is an easy area that trips people up. Have no fear as he points out how to take the fundamental understandings of drawings and correlate that to what you see in front of you. If you've ever been tripped up by hearing someone say draw out breakers this is the episode for you. Jonathan covers terminology terms that maintenance use when discussing this type of equipment. The world of power is exciting and Jonathan's passion for sharing his knowledge is helping many people grow in their own development. In preparation for the world premiere of Fangoria's remake of Castle Freak at the Chattanooga Film Festival (April 16-19), today's episode is about the original Castle Freak from 1995, directed by Stuart Gordon and staring Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, Jessica Dollarhide, and Jonathan Fuller as the title character (the castle freak, that is). Castle Freak is drastically different in tone from some of Gordon's more well known films (such as Re-Animator and From Beyond), but it is still just as memorable! Rather than fun, over the top, campy gore, Castle Freak is more of a family drama that focuses on themes such as addiction, isolation, grief, and despair....that just so happens to also have a disfigured monster of a man terrorizing the inhabitants of a castle. And like any great horror movie, the monster is representative of something much deeper and serves as the personification of other underlying fears (but, there are still enough scenes of gore to make the monster terrifying on its own...even without the deeper meaning). Regardless of whether you have seen Castle Freak before or not...with the world premiere of the remake right around the corner, this is a perfect time to revisit this 90s gem!! This film reunites genre legends Barbara Crampton and Jeffrey Combs as Susan and John Reilly with Jessica Dolalrhide as their blind daughter Rebecca and Jonathan Fuller as the monstrous Giorgio D’Orsino. Our friend and guest preacher, Jonathan Fuller, from the Wesley Fellows program at Floris UMC, appropriately collaborates with RISE in offering our sermon today focused on the second word in our Advent series, "Collaborate". Apologies that the first few moments of Jonathan's sermon was cut off in the recording. This podcast picks up very early in his sermon as he's discussing the need for teamwork in sports (an analogy he admitted was cliche, but still very helpful).
