In this bone-chilling episode of "Into the Unknown," Brian narrates the extraordinary firsthand account of a man who survived multiple encounters with Sasquatch in the remote Alaskan wilderness. Brian brings to life the story of a former architect who abandoned city life in Anchorage to build his dream home on a hundred-acre property in the Kenai Peninsula, only to discover he had unwittingly entered territory claimed by creatures most believe exist only in legend. Through meticulous research and exclusive interviews with the survivor, Brian reconstructs this harrowing tale of territorial conflict and survival. Listeners will hear how the man's experience began with mysterious knocking sounds in the forest and quickly escalated to an orchestrated campaign of intimidation—rocks hurled at his trailer, destruction of construction equipment, and ultimately, coordinated attacks by multiple Sasquatch displaying disturbing levels of intelligence and strategic thinking. The narrative details the physical characteristics of these massive bipedal beings, their communication methods, and their apparent ability to remember specific humans and hold grudges against those who intrude on their territory. The survivor's account of narrowly escaping death during a night-long siege provides some of the most credible and detailed testimony ever documented about Sasquatch behavior. This hidden conflict has remained largely unknown to the public due to skepticism, misclassification of deaths as wilderness accidents, and potentially even governmental reluctance to acknowledge the existence of another intelligent species with territorial claims to North American lands. The episode concludes with sobering reflections on what these encounters suggest about humanity's place in the wilderness—that in certain remote regions, we may not be the apex predators we believe ourselves to be, but rather intruders in territories long claimed by something more ancient and unwilling to share. Whether you're fascinated by cryptid phenomena or a committed skeptic, this meticulously researched account will make you reconsider what might really be watching from the shadows when you venture into the deep wilderness. Content warning: This episode contains descriptions of violence and situations that some listeners may find disturbing.

Season 5, Episode 230 Local Alaska Pilots and the National Guard Saved a Family from a Frozen Lake The Heart-Stopping Rescue of a Pilot and His Daughters on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula According to the Associated Press and OutdoorLife.com, a dramatic rescue unfolded on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula this week after a pilot and his two daughters were stranded for hours on the wing of their half-sunken plane in a frozen lake. The family's plane, a Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser, crashed Sunday evening during a sightseeing trip. As night fell, the pilot and his daughters, who have not been identified, were forced to cling to the wing of the plane, waiting in the freezing cold for help. It wasn't long before the tight-knit community of Alaska's bush pilots sprang into action. When the plane was first reported missing, local pilots immediately rallied to join the search. By Monday morning, a group of volunteers, including pilot Terry Godes, took to the skies in their own planes, hoping to spot the wreckage. Godes, who had seen a Facebook post about the missing family, was the first to spot the plane, with the family waving from the wing, signaling they were still alive. After Godes radioed in the location, the Alaska State Troopers and National Guard were quickly alerted. The National Guard sent in a C-130 transport plane and a helicopter for the rescue operation, but conditions were challenging. The ice was too soft to land on, and the rotor wash threatened to blow the children off the wing. Despite these difficulties, the National Guard performed a flawless, one-of-a-kind recovery, saving the family from the icy wilderness. The pilot and his daughters were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The rescue, which involved the quick thinking and coordination of local pilots, the Alaska State Troopers, and the National Guard, was a testament to the strength of Alaska's community and the courage of those who risked their lives to bring a family home safely. The Conservation Club started small with just a handful of students but has grown into a vibrant 180-member group. Full-fledged members earn a school letter at Waconia High. These students take part in activities like hunting, camping, and fossil hunting, all while giving back through cleanups at local lakes and parks. Waconia's strong community support, from donations to volunteers, helps make the club's work possible. If your school wants to make a difference, consider starting an outdoor club! It's a great way to connect students with nature, foster teamwork, and give back to the community. Waconia High School's Conservation Club shows that, with passion and support, great things can grow. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Muslim militants kill 9 in Congo, Africa Muslim militants from the Allied Democratic Forces, a terrorist group, launched a brutal assault in North Kivu, Congo, Africa on March 8th, killing at least nine people, reports International Christian Concern. The attack began at dawn, catching villagers by surprise. Armed with guns and machetes, the Muslims targeted the farming community, swiftly overpowering the residents. The assault, which included the destruction of homes, left dozens of families displaced, worsening an already dire humanitarian crisis in the region. Eastern Congo remains plagued by violence, with more than 100 armed groups vying for control of the region's valuable resources. The innocent civilians continue to bear the heaviest cost. Despite repeated calls for action, the Congo government has been unable to protect its citizens from these frequent raids. According to Open Doors, Congo, Africa is the 35th most dangerous country worldwide for Christians. King Charles hospitalized from cancer treatment side effects Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles III was taken to the hospital in a car yesterday after suffering predictable side effects from his cancer treatment, reports The U.S. Sun. He has had to cancel a string of engagements set for today in Birmingham, England. And he was unable to greet Ambassadors of three different nations yesterday. The King was at home at Clarence House last night where he was said to be in good form and continuing to work on State Papers and making calls from his study. (Look at the rooms inside Clarence House). On January 17, 2024, Buckingham Palace announced the King was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate. Then, on February 5th, the Palace revealed that the doctors discovered that he had cancer while operating on his prostate. Please pray for the full recovery of King Charles with minimal side effects. Trump affirmed two God-given genders, opposition to transgenderism President Donald Trump criticized gender ideology during a recent Women's History Month event held at the White House on March 25th. He reaffirmed the two genders created by God. TRUMP: “On Day One, I made the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders: male and female. Is there anybody that disagrees with that in this room? (laughter)  I was thinking, maybe somebody from the press might raise their head. I don't think so. “For four long years, we had an administration that tried to abolish the very concept of womanhood and replace it with radical gender ideology. They destroyed women's spaces and even tried to replace the word ‘mother' with the term ‘birther person.' A mother became a ‘birther person.'  “Under the Trump administration, we're ending the Marxist war on women, and we're protecting women's rights, defending women's dignity, and standing up for the American moms and daughters.” Trump also made a definitive statement about men who pretend to be women. TRUMP: “No matter how many surgeries you have or chemicals you inject, if you're born with male DNA in every cell of your body, you can never become a woman! You're not going to be a woman. (applause) And that's why, last month, I proudly signed a historic Executive Order to ban men from competing in women's sports. And it was very popular.” Trump withdraws Stefanik's nomination to be U.N. Ambassador President Donald Trump has withdrawn the nomination of Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik of New York to be U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, reports The Epoch Times. Trump announced the move on Truth Social on March 27th, citing the narrow majority that the GOP has in the House of Representatives. He wrote, “As we advance our America First Agenda, it is essential that we maintain EVERY Republican Seat in Congress. I have asked Elise, as one of my biggest Allies, to remain in Congress to help me deliver Historic Tax Cuts, GREAT Jobs, Record Economic Growth, a Secure Border, Energy Dominance, Peace Through Strength, and much more, so we can MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. With a very tight Majority, I don't want to take a chance on anyone else running for Elise's seat.” Trump said Stefanik will join his administration in the future. Manhattan's Planned Parenthood closes after years of pro-life prayer After years of monthly prayer processions, often led by a pro-life activist priest named Fidelis Moscinski, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York has announced it will be selling its SoHo building and shutting down its Manhattan abortion mill, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Wendy Stark, the New York abortion giant CEO, claimed the decision was made due to “the gap between inflation and stagnant (Medicaid/insurance) reimbursement rates.” Christian pro-lifers, like David who fought Goliath, know that you cannot continue to mock the living God and expect to be victorious. Psalm 34:16 says, “The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the Earth.” Three survivors of Alaskan plane crash rescued And finally, fearing the worst after a prop plane was reported overdue for landing in Alaska last Sunday, search and rescue volunteers searched for the pilot and two children of elementary and middle school ages who had been on a sightseeing tour, reports Good News Network. Dale Eicher was one of the locals who heard the call for help. EICHER: “I saw the Facebook post about the missing plane and decided to go look for it.” Providentially, that singular Facebook post about the missing father and kids had been re-shared 420 times. John Morris, the father of the missing pilot, told CNN affiliate, Alaska's News Source, that his son's cell phone sent its final ping at about 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening over Tustumena Lake. Within an hour of flying, Eicher saw them. EICHER: “They were walking across the lake when I flew over the plane.” The Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser had crash landed on the frozen surface of Tustumena Lake. EICHER: “I was really shocked. I did expect that we would find them, but I didn't expect that we would find them alive, for sure. I've done a little bit of search and rescue before, and it doesn't always turn out this well.” The three survivors were taken to a Kenai Peninsula area hospital and treated for “non-life-threatening injuries.” When the reporter asked what motivated Dale Eicher to search for the missing plane, he said this. EICHER: “It's the right thing to do. I do volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol some. And I have my own plane.” Indeed, it was the right thing to do!  After all, as Genesis 1:27 articulates, each of us, including those three plane crash survivors in Alaska, have been created in God's image and are worthy of rescuing. She sheds light on overcrowded classrooms, controversial age-inappropriate content, and the district's failure to address teacher burnout or conduct exit interviews to understand why educators and families are leaving. From her regular presence at school board meetings to her role in launching a statewide legislative committee, Donna explains how Moms for Liberty is mobilizing concerned parents, grandparents, and even dads across Alaska's four chapters (Fairbanks, Mat-Su, Anchorage, and Kenai Peninsula) to demand transparency and better outcomes for students.   Listeners will gain insight into the challenges of curriculum rushed into implementation, the financial waste of unused materials, and the broader cultural and policy shifts needed to retain both students and teachers. Whether you're a parent, educator, or citizen seeking solutions, this episode offers a candid look at the state of public education and a roadmap for getting involved. Contact Donna at moms4libertykpen@gmail.com or 907-252-7207 to join the effort, or visit momsforliberty.org to connect with a chapter near you and “find your people.”

Show Notes:  https://wetflyswing.com/674  Presented By: Togiak River Lodge Sponsors: https://wetflyswing.com/togiak  George Krumm, editor of Fish Alaska Magazine and all-around fishy dude, is going to share his experience on Alaska grand slam catching all five salmon species in the same day on a recent trip to the Togiak River. You're going to find out which technique he used to make it happen; where some of the other great trips are around Alaska and things you should be thinking about; and what he thinks is the best thing to help turn around the Chinook decline for the Pacific rim. Plus you're gonna found out how you can plan your Alaska trip easily with a resource at Fish Alaska Magazine. Episode Chapters with George Krumm on Alaska Grand Slam 3:06 - George began his journey into fly fishing when he was about seven years old. His dad gave him a small vice and showed him how to tie flies. The very first fly he tied was a gray hackle peacock. George became truly passionate about fly fishing when he started catching fish with the flies he had tied himself. 5:08 - He shares a bit about how he began his career at Fish Alaska. Melissa Norris and his brother, Marcus, founded both Fish Alaska and Hunt Alaska magazines. For Fish Alaska, George primarily writes about fly fishing. Additionally, they have a "Fly of the Month" column, which is sponsored by Mossy's Fly Shop. 8:12 - George first connected with the Larsen brothers, who own the Togiak River Lodge, during his visit in 2022. His goal was to explore Chinook fishing and write a story about it. Unfortunately, the trip wasn't very successful due to poor water and weather conditions. Despite this, George believes that the Togiak River is a standout location for Chinook fly fishing, as it still boasts strong runs of fish in various sizes. 11:48 - George visited the lodge in mid-August this year, aiming to catch coho salmon on a fly. He successfully caught all five species of Pacific salmon—Chinook, coho, sockeye, chum, and pink salmon—in a single day on a fly rod. His cousin Tom achieved this feat twice in one week. 13:39 - He describes their success, noting that on an average day, he and Tom caught over 75 salmon of various species. Although their main goal was silvers, they caught multiple types of salmon, with the King salmon being the most challenging to catch at that time of year. Interestingly, they managed to achieve a "grand slam" of catching various salmon species by accident. 15:40 - We discuss sockeye salmon, which are less talked about in freshwater fishing. George mentions significant runs in areas like Naknek and Kenai. Sockeye are valued for their red meat and while they usually feed on plankton in the ocean, they can become territorial and bite more when in large groups. For Chum salmon George mentions that they are strong fighters, often leading to broken rods, though they might not look impressive. Pink salmon are smaller and change color quickly, causing them to be underrated, but fresh pinks are tasty, similar to trout. 20:31 - George enjoys the methodical aspect of spey casting, especially for winter steelhead, where catching even one fish is rewarding. He contrasts this with the excitement of fishing in the Togiak River, where large fish are caught more frequently. 26:47 - George highlights the Togiak River Lodge's multiple packages for anglers. He also notes an important change in their policy: during the first few weeks of the fishing season, the lodge will limit the number of anglers from 24 to 14. This adjustment is aimed at providing a better experience for those specifically interested in fishing for King salmon. 27:34 - We dig into the evolving perspectives on fishing practices in Alaska, emphasizing a shift away from the traditional "whack them and stack them" mentality towards more sustainable approaches. George highlights the importance of targeting abundant fish species such as sockeye, pink, and coho salmon, while questioning the necessity of taking large quantities of fish home. Our conversation highlights the need for anglers to adapt to changing times and prioritize sustainable practices. While Alaska has been perceived as having unlimited fish supplies, current trends suggest a need for caution and conservation. 33:36 -We discuss the current state of fly fishing and the associated challenges in different regions, including Alaska and the Skeena system. Fishing restrictions, such as closures on Chinook fishing, are not only happening in Alaska but in other areas as well. 38:50 - George recounts spending extensive time fishing on the Kenai River and now frequently visits the Naknek River for its excellent rainbow trout fishing opportunities. He also highlights the overlooked potential of stillwater fishing around Anchorage and the Kenai Peninsula. He notes that many lakes in Alaska are stocked with fish and, unlike in the lower 48 states, they are not heavily fished. This means that these lakes often contain multiple age classes of fish, some reaching up to 30 inches long. 43:53 - The Fish Alaska website provides a free trip planning service. This service allows users to input information, after which they receive details and recommendations about where to go. George explains that the service typically recommends lodges or outfitters in the area of the user's intended destination. Additionally, when users submit their information, it is shared with these recommended operations, who may also contact the users to offer further assistance. 44:40 - George addresses the challenges facing the Chinook salmon fishery, particularly the commercial troll fishery in Southeast Alaska. A significant issue is that the fish caught are often not native to Alaska, and the average size of Chinook salmon along the west coast is decreasing. This size reduction is attributed to the fish being more vulnerable to overfishing in the ocean before they can return to spawn. He suggests that Chinook salmon management should be coordinated along the entire west coast, acknowledging their migratory and feeding patterns rather than being limited by political boundaries. 49:08 - George also expresses concern about the potential decline of Coho salmon in South Central Alaska, noting low returns in areas like Anchorage and Homer. He speculates that if Coho face decline, it might not be due to trawl fisheries but rather the impact of pink salmon hatchery operations. 53:43 - George clarifies the difference between trawl and troll fishing, emphasizing the impact of the former on marine environments and fish populations. 56:44 - He describes the experience of visiting the Togiak River Lodge, detailing the journey and accommodations. He also highlights the excellent food they have in the lodge. Show Notes:  https://wetflyswing.com/674
