Matt considered himself a casual runner, completing one or two half-marathons a year. He was raising a family, advancing his career, and staying healthy. His outlook on life was that it was chugging along, and Matt was content. As far as he was concerned, he “had it all figured out.” However, as life often does, it threw Matt a tough curveball with what seemed like an unsolvable problem. His balance was off, he was constantly exhausted, his vision was blurry, and so on. After months of doctor appointments, ER visits, and no answers, Matt was left with a sense of bewilderment about the changes happening to him. After collapsing on a work trip and being rushed to the hospital by his work colleagues, he was finally diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and told he would be wheelchair-bound within five years. Today, we'll hear about Matt's journey since the diagnosis, how he got back into running, and how he set his goals far beyond what he imagined before this life-altering news. This leads us to what's next. Starting June 15th, Matt is planning to run from Lincoln, Nebraska, to Casey, Iowa, in an effort to raise awareness and funds for MS Run the US. You can follow along with his journey here. Be sure to watch Inches to Miles on Tuesday, June 4th, at 8 pm EST here. Our ambassador applications are open from now until June 7th. Joe Knaggs spent many years at PRS, contributing guitar designs that came to be classics. So, of course, when he left those hallowed halls, Joe fired up his own shop and hung his shingle on a whole new family of instruments, this time bearing the name Knaggs Guitars. On November 17, Cappella Records is proud to present the world première recording of DANIEL KNAGGS' TWO STREAMS, performed by the GRAMMY® Award-winning Houston Chamber Choir led by Robert Simpson, with string ensemble Kinetic and world-class soloists. With musical threads dyed in Medieval, baroque, and contemporary colors, Knaggs' 2021 cantata weaves a breathtaking tapestry, an exploration of love and mercy that gives profound meaning to the transitory nature of life. Two Streams is structured around the words of Polish nun Maria Faustina Kowalska (1905–1938). From a poor family that struggled during the years of the First World War, she joined the Congregation of Sisters of Mercy where she received heavenly messages to share with the world, inspiring this sublime music by Daniel Knaggs.Available on SACD and produced by multi-GRAMMY® Award winner Blanton Alspaugh and the team at SoundMirror.TracksDaniel Knaggs (b. 1983)Two Streams Prologue (3:39) Thick Darkness (6:14) Song of Mercy I (3:11) Invocations (5:42) Only Love (3:32) Song of Mercy II (3:10) Merciful Heart (7:24) Meditation (6:11) Song of Mercy III (4:37) Mercy to Others (4:49) Mother of Mercy (6:15) Song of Mercy IV (4:32) Come, O Earth (5:08) Epilogue (5:29) Help support our show by purchasing this album at:Downloads (classicalmusicdiscoveries.store) Classical Music Discoveries is sponsored by Uber. @CMDHedgecock#ClassicalMusicDiscoveries #KeepClassicalMusicAlive#CMDGrandOperaCompanyofVenice #CMDParisPhilharmonicinOrléans#CMDGermanOperaCompanyofBerlin#CMDGrandOperaCompanyofBarcelonaSpain#ClassicalMusicLivesOn#Uber#AppleClassical Please consider supporting our show, thank you!Donate (classicalmusicdiscoveries.store) This album is broadcast with the permission of Sean Dacy from Rosebrook Media.

Charlie Knaggs leads the Climate Change and Energy teams at Point Advisory, where he works with corporate and government clients to help find and implement decarbonisation solutions that are economically sensible and environmentally robust. He specialises in greenhouse gas measurement, management, reporting and auditing, and was recently engaged by TICT to undertake a report that would provide insights into what it would look like for the Tasmanian tourism industry to be carbon-neutral. In this episode, TICT's Emma Azon-Jacometti chats with Charlie about the findings of that report, beginning by exploring what it actually means to be carbon-neutral. Charlie then explains how he went about determining the size of Tasmanian tourism's carbon footprint, and how it compares to other Australian states' tourism industries, as well as other industries within Tasmania. Charlie suggests that we need to look at achieving carbon neutrality from a top-down approach as well as a bottom-up approach, and talks through the differences between both approaches and how you might apply these considerations in your own business.Ultimately, the big question is whether the Tasmanian tourism industry can achieve its bold ambition to be carbon-neutral by 2025. And, if it can, what measures does it need to take to get there? Listen in for Charlie's take and to understand how you can make a difference.Today's episode is brought to you by our partner, VXT. VXT is a purpose-built organisation with one purpose - to train a hospitality and tourism workforce to deliver the Tasmanian workforce. VXT offers an array of industry-led, outcome-focused training courses both online and around Tasmania. Thanks to VXT for their generous support of TICT and for helping to make this episode of Talking Tourism possible.
Audrey Hepburn, a Screen Legend and a truly iconic beauty, said “The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years.” I was reflecting on previous discussions I have had on ageism as I read yet another comment on beauty and aging youthfully. The debate centered around the question of whether we should accept and indeed celebrate the aging of our appearance as a reflection of the wisdom gained as we grow older, or whether, as I believe, we should do all we can to delay the wrinkling, dryness and loss of radiance that naturally accompanies aging, and endeavor to look vibrant and healthy as we age. Our appearance, the quality of our skin, hair, teeth, eyes, is as much a window to our overall as is our posture, gait and mental acuity. Choosing to ward off dull, wrinkled skin and thinning, lack-luster hair is not a question of vanity but a celebration of our inner vitality. Today's conversation brings to you an expert in the biology of skin and hair, to discuss how our outward changes of aging may reflect our inner state of health. Dr. Helen Knaggs, is the Vice President of Global Research and Development for Nu Skin. With over 30 years of experience in skin research and product development, including years spent specializing in acne research, her expertise in skin and hair biology has led to numerous publications and patents. Dr. Knaggs earned bachelor's degrees with honors in biochemistry and pharmacology, and a doctorate degree from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Leeds, England. She spent several years as a research biochemist in the dermatology department of Leeds General Infirmary where her work involved clinical and lab research, interpretation of trial results and data reporting to corporate and scientific communities. As vice president of Nu Skin Global Research and Development, she works closely with the Nu Skin Scientific Advisory Board to identify the latest research and trends in skin care for the Nu Skin brand. We discuss how lifestyle as much as inheritance affects the aging of your skin, and what you can do to preserve both the health and the beauty of your appearance from inside out and outside in. To learn more about the nutritional and skin care products that will promote your youthful aging, schedule a Living Younger Discovery call with me at https://calendly.com/askdrgill/discovery-phone-chat To discover how you can create your personal lifestyle roadmap to Growing Older Living Younger, visit www.askdrgill.com to order your copy of Growing Older Living Younger: The Science of Aging Gracefully and The Art of Retiring Comfortably, and schedule your Discovery call at https://calendly.com/askdrgill/discovery-phone-chat

At age 11, ERIC STECKEL recorded a live album. A year later, a legendary British blues bandleader heard Steckel and was so impressed he took the young guitar hero on a tour of Europe with him. (Which British bandleader? Let’s just say Steckel is now an official, pedigreed Bluesbreaker.) In this episode, Steckel plugs in one of his favorite Knaggs guitars, demonstrates approaches and riffs from his wide catalog of “blues metal” (as he calls it) songs, and discusses his new line of Seymour Duncan signature pickups. Hosted by JUDE GOLD. This episode is presented by BLUE MICROPHONES. The perfect mic awaits you at bluemic.com.

As many of you know, I like to host intimate little house shows in my back yard each summer. This episode of the podcast is the recording of one of the sets from our most recent back yard gig. This is a set by the show's headliner, Australian avant-cellist [Rob Knaggs](http://www.robknaggs.com/). Rob was back in Manitoba for the first time in quite a while (hear him talk about going home to Oz on a [previous interview](http://witchpolice.podiant.co/e/36da6f44a8cef6/) podcast), and he played a deadly set in the light of day – just Rob on the deck with the cello and no visuals. As mentioned in the intro, Rob's set was considerably louder than the others I recorded that afternoon, so there's a bit of clipping at times, but it doesn't take away from the Arctic-inspired beauty of his compositions.
