Some of us eat once a day, some of us eat ten times a day and some of us sit in between. Depending on the size of the meal, what the meal is made up of and depending on how healthy the meal might seem to be, the person eating could be chumming. Chumming is a method to draw out a shark from deep within the ocean, but people who are eating foods of different sorts may be chumming for something far different than an ocean shark. They might be chumming for a blood and organ pathogen. Bugs make up a large swath of sickness in this world, bugs such as EBV and Shingles. These bugs have an appetite for certain foods and these bugs can be dormant for quite some time, or out and about already wreaking havoc, and then comes the food—food that pathogens really enjoy. As we go through life, we end up chumming our bugs if we are not wise to what they eat. We strengthen our bugs and make them grow as we chum. In this episode, learn how to protect yourself and what steps to take to not chum your bugs into proliferation, allowing sickness to worsen. Learn how to thwart sickness and live healthier. Listen to this advertisement-free podcast on Apple & Spotify. In this episode… • Learn about chumming and how you might be doing it without even realizing. • Discover what Public Medical Research & Science does and doesn't know about viruses and pathogens, and what secrets Classified Medical Research & Science is keeping. • Uncover what the public has been kept in the dark about for over 100 years. • Learn about the bug assembly line and how eggs played a huge role in its development. • Discover the most common ways in which people contract new bugs and viruses. • Uncover the reason why some people go from never craving eggs or other foods, to suddenly craving these foods out of nowhere. • Learn about one of the first organic and wild food grocery stores in the U.S. All this and more, tune in and don't miss out on this important episode. In this episode we go hard from the beginning, chumming the water at every opportunity possible. In the prelude we talk shit on Bill Nye the non-science guy. We chum the water with a quick call out of Jeremy and his absence. We then chum the water by calling out the ineptitude of the Secret Service and what the world witnessed during the failed assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump. That leads us to talk about mental preparedness and the key role it plays in being quick to action when action is needed. We call out Blackrock and their deep state ties, including their possible hand in the attempted assassination. (Remember, we are happy and healthy and of sound mind and body, and would never commit self-harm...) We delve into some of the "conspiracy theories" surrounding the attempt to take Trump out, or as we like to call them -prognostications- due to many theories being proven true as time passes. We tell stories of: - A Super Cougar - Nudist Ninjas Fighting Pirates - Jose Cuervo rectal shots Jake tells a story of an encounter he had on them Skreets that tested his mental preparedness. And a lot of other stuff. Listen in to hear it all. We have new merch on the site. Use code SAVAGE for 15% off domesticatedsavages.com Always remember... In part 2, we talk about the other fish that come up in the live chum slick along with Kingfish. Inshore, it sounds like the wet weather that moved through the area last week and the summer pop up thunderstorms helped to get the bite fired up. Those showers cool the water temp down quickly and create oxygen in the water. Sometimes the fish respond well to little those rain events, so don't let a little rain send you to the dock, sometimes that's what they are waiting for.

In this episode, we test out a chumming trick that had us catching speckled trout (aka seatrout) almost every cast. It worked so well that both live bait and artificial lures were working. Best news is that you don't need a fancy boat do do this. If you want to have everyone on your boat coming home with a smile on their face, this is one of the best ways to catch tons of inshore saltwater fish!

Maryland Fishing Line - Production of Chesapeake Angler Magazine

Welcome to the Maryland Fishing Line Episode 06 - Your one-stop weekly fishing report podcast for the Chesapeake Bay and Maryland.Today is June 30, 2020This is the podcast where we talk about fishing throughout the great state of Maryland. The Maryland fishing line is a production of The Angler Magazine, Chesapeake Edition. The Chesapeake Angler can be found throughout southern Maryland, Anne Arundel County, and the Eastern Shore. If you would like to see it in your area and it’s not there let us know!Let’s take a look at what’s going on around the state.Free fishing day in Maryland comes up July 4th.This license free day allows you to enjoy everything Maryland has to offer.Chesapeake Bay surface water temperatures have jumped to the upper 70s resulting in low oxygen areas are appearing from Swan Point down to the mouth of the Potomac River. The eastern side of the bay will have unsuitable oxygen conditions for fish in waters deeper than 25 feet. With river temperatures approaching the mid-70s, striped bass still remaining in the spawning rivers to feed near channel edges and points will begin to move to cooler river mouths or main bay structure. Surface waters are about 4 degrees warmer than bottom waters. White perch have moved out to tidal creek mouths on mud, sand, or clay bottoms near structure in waters less than 25 deep deep. Adult spot continue moving towards the upper Chesapeake Bay mainstem and tributaries in areas with salinities greater than 5 ppt — currently south of the Bay Bridge. Spot will be found on oyster bars, sand, and mud bottom, feeding on benthic worms and small clams.Upper Chesapeake BayThe Conowingo Dam at first light is prime topwater action for striped bass. This action continues down the river and out along the edge of the Susquehanna Flats. As the morning hours progress, switch to soft plastic jigs and work the edges of the channels leading to the lower Susquehanna and Elk rivers. All types catfish are providing plenty of action for those fishing cut bait, clam snouts, or chicken liver in the channels and edges of the lower Susquehanna and Elk rivers. White perch can be found in the tidal creeks and rivers.Trolling along the shipping channel edges and Swan Point offers some success for striped bass. Most anglers are pulling umbrella rigs behind inline weights down deep along the 25-foot to 30-foot channel edges. White bucktails or swimshads as trailers have been popular. Spot and white perch can now be found in the mouth of the Magothy River, the shallower areas at both ends of the bridges, and in the water off Sandy Point State Park. Bottom rigs baited with pieces of bloodworm have been preferred. Middle BayLive-lining spot and white perch is popular at steep channel edges. Most are holding at about 30 feet and are also being caught by those chumming. Cownose rays are becoming more of a problem in the middle bay and chum slicks tend to attract them. A mix of channel and blue catfish are also being attracted to chum slicks and will often pick up baits lying on the bottom. Anglers using live bait or cut bait are reminded that they must use non-offset circle hooks at all times.Trolling has been a good option when fishing for striped bass. Most anglers are targeting the shipping channel edges with umbrella rigs pulled behind inline weights. Often the fish are suspended at about 30-feet along the channel edges. White tends to be the most popular color for bucktails dressed with sassy shads or twister tails. Storm-type swim shads are also working well. The shallow-water striped bass fishery in the lower sections of the tidal rivers and bay shore areas provides a fun and exciting way to fish with light tackle. Water temperatures are in the mid 70s so striped bass are feeling comfortable moving into these shallower areas in the evenings and lingering till the mid-morning hours. Topwater lures are one of the best choices when fishing over grass and submerged rocks. Crankbaits, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, and swimbaits can be good choices in deeper waters near shoreline structure. Zara Spooks and poppers are a great choice when fishing with spinning gear, and skipping bugs are a perfect match with a weight forward floating line and a mid-weight fly rod.White perch are spread throughout the region’s tidal rivers and creeks and will stay put for most of the summer months. Fishing for them is fun and easy from docks and piers using grass shrimp or pieces of bloodworm on a simple one-hook bottom rig. A good tide is desirable and the best place to fish in deep water is right next to the pilings or bulkheads.Lower BayFishing for speckled trout has been extremely good along the Eastern Shore marshes in about 5 feet of water over grass beds. Speckled trout are also showing up on the western shore near Point Lookout and Cornfield Harbor and the mouth of the Patuxent River. White and pearl sparkle combinations of soft plastic swimbaits and MirrOlures are working well and scented Gulp baits are always a proven winner.Sight fishing and casting live eels or large, soft plastic swimbaits and jigs is a popular way to target Cobia. Chumming is an old standby but with the abundance of cownose rays being attracted to chum slicks, it can be a difficult proposition.  Spanish mackerel are becoming more common for those who are trolling at a good clip with spoons. Trolling at slower speeds with large spoons in the general area of the Target Ship north to the Little Choptank area can result in some exciting catch-and-release action with large red drum.Striped bass are mixed in with the speckled trout in many areas and provide plenty of fun fishing action for light-tackle anglers. Topwater lures are a favorite way to fish for both species during the early morning and evening hours. Jigging along channel edgeswhen they can be found suspended. Trolling is a popular option along channel edges using umbrella rigs with inline weights to get them down to where the fish are holding. Some are chummingwith a mixed take of striped bass, bluefish, and blue catfish, while others are live-lining spot with good success.Spot can now be found in the mouth of the Patuxent River, Tangier and Pocomoke sounds, and the shallower areas off Hoopers Island. Most of the spot are small, which is good for live-lining, but not enough to eat. Flounder can be found along channel edges in the Tangier and Pocomoke sounds. White perch are holding in just about all of the tidal rivers and creeks of the region and will hold there through the summer months. Abundant numbers of blue catfish can be found in the Nanticoke, Patuxent, and Potomac rivers. Fresh cut bait and clam snouts make excellent baits.Recreational crabbers are working hard to catch a good bushel of crabs this week. The best catches are coming from the lower bay region, especially on the eastern side. One can catch a full bushel of crabs per outing in the middle bay region but it just might take a little longer. Razor clams are the most popular bait since they do pull in crabs, but chicken necks can work just fine. Many are reporting that the crabs tend to be deep.FreshwaterLargemouth bass are focused on grass, spatterdock, and lily pads.. The early morning and evening hours are the best times to fish shallow grass with a variety of topwater lures. Waters are beginning to warm and as the day wears on largemouth bass will seek shade under thick grass that is growing in deeper waters. Docks, fallen treetops, and sunken wood can also provide daytime shade. Dropping weighted soft plastic or stick worms down through the grass mats is a good tactic.Northern snakeheads are holding in shallow grass in the tidal rivers, and those fishing for largemouth bass will often encounter them. Snakeheads are finishing their spawning and will be feeding more this week. They can be found in every tidal river now that flows into the Chesapeake Bay. The greatest numbers are found in the tidal Potomac, Patuxent and Nanticoke rivers, lower Dorchester County, and farther north in the Susquehanna Flats.Blue catfish have also spread to every tidal river in the Chesapeake, and in the tidal Potomac, Patuxent, and Nanticoke rivers they are the dominant catfish population. A simple bottom rig baited with fresh cut bait, clam snouts, or chicken liver works well. YouTube catch upDon’t forget to find and comment on the Mallows Bay Snakehead and Bass video - when we get to 350 subscribers on YouTube we will be selecting a random comment from that video to win a Bass Pro Shops eGift Card.If there is something you would like to see covered on the YouTube channel let me know an we will see what we can do about that.Magazine Catch upWe are already looking for bragboard photos for our August issue - you can send them to theanglerchesapeake@gmail.com and make sure to include a by-line and that you have attached a high resolution image suitable for printing.  If you send them from your phone make sure to send the largest file size possible.July magazine has arrived and distribution has begun so be on the lookout for that.

Chumming for fish is one of the best if not the most effective technique you can ever learn or master as an angler. I heard another local paid for subscription fishing source state that chumming is a waste of time and money. Now that is 100% completely wrong. The only way I could say that has any truth is, if you don't know what your doing. So I am going to correct that statement this entire show!  Chumming is also the most widely underused and underrated tactics by many anglers. Learning to chum helps catch fish, learning to chum correctly helps to catch a lot more fish. You don't just randomly chum. You target an area of habitat that is likely to hold the species of fish your trying to catch and create your own feeding station. Chumming can be so effective, you can chum grouper, snapper, amberjack and so more from the deep bottom to the surface and then catch them on topwater or fly.

When I get calls from clients in the winter months and I tell them the patch reefs are offering some great fishing I get asked these questions: What is Patch Reef Fishing? Florida Keys Patch Reef fishing is a local term for fishing shallow water reefs, rock piles, coral heads and small ship wrecks inside the Florida Keys reef in 10-40ft of water. What Can we Catch When We Fish the Patch Reefs?  The big coral heads, smaller reefs, rock piles and shallow wrecks in these depths inside the barrier reef will hold numerous Snappers, groupers, mackerels, barracudas, jacks, mangrove snappers, hog fish, porgies, cobia, sharks and more. I always try to get my clients a couple very big Mutton Snappers on the patch reefs using a trade secret technique.  Check out the pictures below of the big Mutton Snappers my clients have caught in 10ft. of water on the patch reefs off Key Largo only 3 miles from shore.  When is the Best Time to Fish the Patch Reefs?  Patch reef fishing can offer action year round, but when in the windy and cooler months (December-February) in the Florida Keys the patch reef fishing is at its peak. The best days to fish the patch reefs are on cooler windy days when we can not get outside the reef.         What Tackle Do We Use? We use ultra light spinning rods on the patch reefs, similar to pan fish and walleye rods to catch these fish making it the ultimate in light tackle fun fishing. For my light tackle set-ups I prefer to use lightest weight reels I can afford with powerful drag, I prefer using Shimano Sustain 2500-5000 class reels paired with my favorite light tackle fishing rods made by St. Croix. The spools of the Shimano Sustains are filled with 10-15 lb. Power Pro Braided Line.  To the braid I connect a 6ft piece of 15-20 lb. Fluorocarbon Leader using Double Uni Knot. I love using small 3/4-1oz size jig heads on the patch reefs. The best colors for me are Pink and Super Glow DOA style Jig Heads with sharp hooks I target larger Mutton Snappers and Groupers on the patch reefs using Shimano Twin Power 8000 spinning reels paired with custom Adrenaline Live Bait Rods. The Twin Powers are spooled with 40lb. Braided line connected to a 6ft piece of 40-60lb. Fluorocarbon Leader using a Double Uni Knot. Freaking fun fishing! We can catch lots of fish and maybe a few for the frying. If you enjoy casting and hooking fish this style of fishing is similar to walleye and bass fishing up north. Clients are casting the entire trip and hooking their own fish.   Water Quality(Color) For me, water quality is the more important than current when it comes to fishing the patch reefs in the Florida Keys. When I arrive at a patch reef and find  "backcountry mud" water quality  I will either run north or south 5-10 miles to find a cleaner water.  My water color preference for patch reef fishing is "powder blue" or "green".   Snappers are not big fans of eating in muddy water. Current As far as current goes, learn to fish whatever current you are dealt with when fishing the patch reefs. Wind against the tide can be frustrating conditions for most anglers including myself,  but remember you are not "feel lining" baits for Yellowtails on the patch reefs you are "casting" jig heads tipped with bait. Make long casts with the wind and let the current bring the jig head back to the boat.   Also make long casts out the port and starboard sides of the boat, this technique works well for my clients when faced with wind "against tide conditions". Chumming and Shrimp  I like to put a lot chum in the water when patch reef fishing.  You read a lot about "not using chum" on the patch reefs.  Don't believe what you read. I bring the same amount of chum as I do on my Yellowtail trips which is 100 pounds or more. This guarantees me action and quality fish for the box and allows me to fish each spot effectively sometimes I will fish 3-5 spots per charter in 5 hours.   In the chum mix I like to add some dead shrimp.  Just this little bit of crustacean scent fires up the snappers on the patches. How to Find Patch Reef Fishing Spots in Florida Keys If you can afford to do so I would recommend purchasing an Atlas Trax (https://atlastrax.com)but if not use Google Earth. This is not a paid promotion or marketing scheme. Atlas Trax does not pay me to speak about their product, I really just like using it. Here is a tip for those that don’t already know this, but as you are scouting at home on the computer using Google Earth, make sure to learn how to use the time slider took to your advantage. Scroll back through the time slider and look for scans that google earth completed on days when it was nice out for fishing around the time you are planning your fishing trip, look for the boats fishing a patch reef fishing then drop a g.p.s. location pin and save it to your GPS on the boat. I included an example of a what you should be looking for when you are scouting for lobster, bait or patch reef spots using Google Earth. When you find a spot you want to check out just drop a "pin" on the spot and put the coordinates into your GPS.   Use the historical data as your personal log book. You have to put in the hours to find the data, but it will be worth it if you find a good fishing spot.   If you want to target large sea trout this spring, then use Google Earth to help you find a few spots to try out.  Below is an image of a "sea trout" fishing spot just outside of Flamingo (Everglades National Park).   Another tool I just recently started using is Strike Lines Charts. These are 3-D Sonar Charts. I really prefer fishing patches with grassy mud/sand bottom surrounding them, not hard rocky bottom. Thanks to Strike Line Charts I can now tell what type of bottom surrounds the patches.   Mutton Snappers like to roam and eat away from the patches, they love foraging on the crustaceans that live in the grass surrounding the patch reef.  The trick is to find a healthy patch reef that is holding fish with some nice sea fans and grass surrounding it. Below is an image of several patch reefs. This particular location is off of Ocean Reef. The Ocean Reef Patch Reefs offer some awesome fishing. It is worth the trip to fish these patches off of the Ocean Reef Club in the Upper Florida Keys. Hook and Cook(Shore Lunch) It is a tradition in the Florida Keys for charter clients to take their catch to a local restaurant so they can prepare you the ultimate hook and cook experience, my northern clients call this a “shore lunch” experience. Lazy Days http://www.lazydaysislamorada.com in the Islamorada offers the absolute best hook and cook experience in the Florida Keys. You have to make reservations well in advance not to mention the view of the Alligator Reef Light house is awesome. Highly recommended. Seakeeper, a Luxury Comfort Fishing Experience for my Clients Another patch reef windy day advantage has been our new Seakeeper 2. It basically shuts down the 15 knot days on the patch reefs into crazy comfortable fun for my clients now. We have the advantage over all the smaller boats in the Florida Keys fishing fleet without a Seakeeper. Anchor fishing on the patch reefs now feels like fishing from the dock. Not to mention getting to and from the spot with ease in gusty breeze as Seakeeper works wonders while underway to and from the fishing spot.  My clients are left speechless at the end of the day.  I am very grateful and lucky to have 1 fo the first 10 Seakeeper 2 off the assembly line! I want the best for my clients, I can’t control the fishing but I can offer the best possible ocean fishing experience with quality equipment.  Learn more about how the Seakeeper 2 works at https://www.seakeeper.com. Check out the demonstration video on our website (insert website page with video) We are very lucky to be the only 24ft boat in the United States with a Seakeeper 2. I will talk about anchoring secrets, baits and reveal a secret fishing chumming tip and a trade secret for catching big muttons on the patch reefs. If you fish the patch reefs in the Florida Keys or can relate to this style of fishing in your areas I highly suggest you stay tuned for future Podcast about how to fish the patch reefs in the Florida Keys. The SEC warns of cyber risks to the financial sector.
