The No Guitar Is Safe podcast, hosted by Jude Gold, is a must-listen for any guitar enthusiast. With a library of 17 episodes and counting, this podcast offers a unique and educational experience that sets it apart from other guitar theory casts. The highlight of the show is undoubtedly the opportunity to listen to masters of the guitar play and describe their thought processes, providing listeners with a mini masterclass in each episode.

One of the best aspects of The No Guitar Is Safe podcast is Jude Gold's skill as an interviewer. He conducts engaging and informative interviews that rival those of full-time journalists on television. His ability to bring out the best in his guests through his questions and jamming sessions sets this podcast apart from others in the genre. Additionally, the relaxed atmosphere created by Jude's laid-back approach allows for genuine conversations that feel more like friendly chats than formal interviews.

While there are many positive aspects to The No Guitar Is Safe podcast, there is one criticism worth mentioning. In one episode, Jude expresses his belief that it is not polite or acceptable behavior for guitarists to play their instrument while having a conversation with someone else. While this viewpoint may seem harsh or judgmental to some listeners, it does bring up an interesting debate about etiquette within the guitar community.

In conclusion, The No Guitar Is Safe podcast is an amazing resource for guitar players and enthusiasts alike. Jude Gold's informative interviews and jam sessions create a truly unique listening experience that goes beyond basic interview formats. Whether you are interested in learning from masters of the guitar or discovering new artists and groups, this podcast is professionally produced and will leave you wanting more. Don't miss out on this fantastic forum for all things guitar-related!

And in this interview/jam, Ned shares exactly how he'll approach his solo sets opening for the two superstar guitar heroes. Whether it's on the first two BOSTON albums or on releases by his latest group, BARRY GOUDREAU'S ENGINE ROOM, guitarist BARRY GOUDREAU brings the world a soaring, blues-inflected sound that has been part of our collective musical psyche ever since he threw down the monster lead on Boston's 1977 rock radio smash, “Foreplay / Long Time.” I was thrilled to have Barry not only visit us backstage at a recent JEFFERSON STARSHIP gig I played in Beverly, Massachusetts — where Barry plugged in his beloved '60s Gibson SG Junior and did this interview (during which, as you'll hear, he discusses everything from working with Boston's brilliant mastermind/chief composer and multi-instrumentalist/producer TOM SCHOLZ to collaborating with the late, great Boston singer BRAD DELP to creating music with his other bands, including RTZ, ORION THE HUNTER, and, of course, the Engine Room) — but also have Barry sit in with us on stage! That's right: During our encore later that night, Barry joins us for an extended jam where he starts off with a big solo, and then we trade licks back and forth, and you'll hear it all go down at the end of the episode. Whether she's talking about the playing of great guitar players she has known (everyone from her legendary Airplane/Starship bandmates to other heroes, including Jimi Hendrix and Jerry Garcia) or tackling any other subject under the sun — sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll; '60s counterculture; DeLoreans; Miles Davis; '80s pop culture; hilarious drummer antics (yes, your ears are burning, Donny Baldwin) — Grace is gloriously unfiltered and a true musical treasure. As guitarist of Jefferson Starship since 2012, I was thrilled to finally dive deep into these topics and more with Grace, who — along with her and Paul Kantner's daughter, China Kantner Isler — I've been lucky enough to call a friend for a decade now. More than just an interview and jam with the great guitarist DAMON WOOD (currently of SEAL PARTY), this episode is also a portal back to the amazing "thrash funk" era of San Francisco Bay Area music, an exciting time in the late '80s/early '90s when live bands pushing an infectious new genre of music ruled the clubs. Some of the acts coming up in this scene — Primus, Limbomaniacs, and Fungo Mungo come to mind — lived up to the genre description by alternating danceable funk grooves with heavy, head-bang-able rock riffs, typically within the same song. However, SMOKING SECTION — Damon Wood's immensely popular Bay Area dance band — truly delivered the "funk" half of the thrash/funk equation. And in this episode Damon relives those unforgettable days — and Smoking Section's unforgettable grooves — in all their glory, and celebrates the fact that Smoking Section's album "Smooth & Nasty" is finally (after over three decades!) available for you to hear on Spotify, Apple Music, and just about every other streaming service. Sure, during the pandemic, guests on No Guitar Is Safe played a ton of guitar for you and showed you a lot of playing approaches over Zoom, etc., but the latency and other restrictions of internet audio meant there could be no real jamming between guests and me, your humble host. Now that the world is opening up again, we can do in-person episodes more and more often, and the jams can resume. And what a perfect guest JEFF TAMELIER is to kick off the return of the jams with.
