Send us a textIn this special joint episode of *2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates* and *Big Blue Avenue*, hosts Drew, Rob, Tom, and Sam dive deep into the latest Giants news, roster moves, and the crucial matchup against the Seahawks. The Giants are shaking things up, and our hosts are here to break it all down and discuss how these changes could impact the rest of the season. The Giants recently signed CB Greg Stroman to their practice squad. Stroman, a 28-year-old Virginia Tech product and former 7th pick, brings experience from his time with Wash, Buffalo, the Rams, and most recently, the Bears. With 65 tackles, 3 INTs, and 2 QB hits across 29 games, the hope is that Stroman can bolster the Giants' depth in the secondary. In other roster news, the Giants released S Alex Johnson and TE Joel Wilson, along with reaching an injury settlement with tight end Lawrence Cager. How will these moves impact the Giants' defense, and what might Stroman bring to the team in the long run?The hosts also dive into the upcoming Giants vs. Seahawks matchup and break down what the Giants need to do to come out on top. The Seahawks defense has been efficient, particularly on third downs, ranking 4th-best in the NFL in third-down conversion percentage. Their pass defense also stands out, allowing just 6.4 yards per pass (9th) and 167.5 passing yards per game (7th). However, their Achilles' heel seems to be in the red zone and stopping short-yardage passes, areas where the Giants have struggled but may be able to exploit. Will DJ finally find his rhythm against this Seattle secondary? Can the Giants' struggling run game get back on track against a Seahawks defense that ranks 14th in yards per carry and yards allowed per game?On the defensive side, the Giants will need to focus on stopping a pass-heavy Seattle offense. The Seahawks boast one of the league's top passing games, with Geno Smith throwing for over 1,100 yards and DK Metcalf, JSM, and Lockett forming a dangerous receiving trio. However, Seattle's offensive line, particularly the right side, has struggled, offering a potential opportunity for the Giants' pass rushers to shine. The Giants' defense, which leads the league in allowing just 0.3 rushing touchdowns per game, will also need to keep Seattle's rushing attack in check, especially with Walker III and Charbonnet posing a threat on the ground. As the hosts discuss the keys to victory for the Giants, they stress the importance of dominating the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. DJ needs more time in the pocket to make plays, while the Giants' defense must pressure Geno Smith and not allow him to get comfortable. Additionally, the Giants need to generate some big plays downfield. Without those explosive moments, they risk falling into the trap of relying solely on field Bad Dadvice PodcastNew Dads giving hilariously bad advice about fatherhood, life and current events.Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Send us a Text Message. In this episode of "2 Giant Goofballs: A New York Giants Podcast," Drew and Rob dive into the latest updates from the Giants' injury report as the preseason intensifies. Tyrone Tracy Jr. had a scare during training camp when he went down untouched after muffing a kickoff. Initially feared to be a season-ending injury, it's been confirmed that Tracy Jr. is dealing with an ankle sprain, and he's expected to be sidelined until late August or early September.Dante "Turbo" Miller's availability for the upcoming game against the Texans is uncertain due to a hamstring issue that limited him in practice on Tuesday. Malik Nabers is also facing a low ankle sprain but remains optimistic about his readiness for Week 1. He hasn't ruled out playing in the preseason finale against the Jets, but the hosts ponder whether missing time in camp could affect his start to the season. They even draw parallels to Odell Beckham Jr.'s explosive rookie year after returning from injury.Lawrence Cager is dealing with a groin injury, and head coach Brian Daboll has indicated that Cager will be out for a while, listing him as week to week. Jon Runyan Jr. also got banged up during Monday's practice, hurting his shoulder. While the injury doesn't appear serious, the Giants are taking precautions by likely keeping him out for a bit, prioritizing his health for the regular season. On a brighter note, Evan Neal and John Michael Schmitz are back in team drills and seem to be on track for Saturday's game. Andru Phillips missed practice with an ankle injury, but Daboll assured it's nothing major. Gervarrius Owens, however, missed Sunday's practice due to a knee injury, and while the severity remains unknown, a long absence could jeopardize his spot on the roster.Lastly, Drew and Rob discuss the implications of Vikings QB JJ McCarthy's season-ending surgery on the torn meniscus, making it official that he won't be facing the Giants this season. The big question now is whether Sam Darnold will step up as the starting quarterback for the Vikings or if they might look to bring in a veteran like Ryan Tannehill as a stopgap solution.#giants #nygiants #giants100Support the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. DJ organized an off-season workout in NC, taking several teammates with him for both training and bonding. Joining Jones were quarterbacks Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito, wide receivers  Slayton, Nabers, Wan'Dale Robinson, Hyatt, Ford-Wheaton, and Dennis Houston, tight ends  Bellinger, Theo Johnson, and Lawrence Cager, and running back Dante Miller. Beyond their football drills, the group engaged in team-building activities, including jet skiing, a moment captured and shared on Twitter. This workout tradition dates back to 2011 when Eli Manning initiated it, bridging the gap between OTAs and training camp.Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers didn't shy away from calling out Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs during a Bleacher Report interview, saying he can't wait to match up against him. Diggs responded on Twitter, referencing the Cowboys' dominance over the Giants with a taunting message. Nabers retorted with a coffin emoji, intensifying the rivalry. The Giants face the Cowboys in weeks 4 and 13 this season. While Diggs is recovering from an ACL tear, Daron Bland has emerged as a strong contender for the Cowboys' top cornerback spot. The burgeoning rivalry echoes sentiments expressed by last year's Giants first-round pick Deonte Banks, who vocally celebrated victories over the Commanders. The "Hard Knocks" trailer featuring the New York Giants offered some intriguing insights. Giants GM Joe Schoen was seen discussing Saquon Barkley's contract situation, stating, "Can you give us your word on that or are you not going to give us a chance?" This followed reports that the Giants never made Barkley an offer during the offseason. The trailer also captured Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll deliberating a trade for Brian Burns, with Schoen noting the high cost: "We would have to trade, like, two twos, and then you'd have to pay him $28-$29 million." Ultimately, the Giants acquired Burns for a second-round pick, a fifth-round pick, and a swap of fifth-round picks. The trailer hinted at the Falcons' interest in trading down, sparking curiosity about what the Giants might have gained if they had traded the sixth pick. The Giants have opened their first training camp session to the public on July 24, continuing through multiple dates in late July and early August. Joint practices with the Lions on August 5 and 6 will also be accessible. Fans can look forward to giveaways, autographs, and various activities. While attendance is free, tickets are required and will be available soon on the Giants' official website. With Darren Waller's retirement, tight ends Lawrence Cager and rookie Theo Johnson have stepped up. ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported that both players received first-team reps during spring practices. Head coach Brian Daboll praised Cager, calling him “probably one of the most improved players throughout the offseason.” Cager's increased speed and understanding of the system have been highlighted, suggesting he could play a significant role this season.Pro Football Focus ranked the Giants' defensive line 18th in the NFL. Dexter Lawrence's dominant pass-rushing skills set him apart as a unique nose tackle. The addition of Brian Burns in the offseason bolsters the Giants' edge-rushing capabilities, but the team is looking for further development from Kayvon Thibodeaux.Support the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. OTA 9 RecapThe offense looked very crisp during OTA 9. Starting with 7-on-7 drills, Daniel Jones went 5 of 6 with four touchdowns. The first TD was to Jalin Hyatt, followed by Malik Nabers, another to Hyatt, and the fourth to Wan'Dale Robinson. During the team portion, Drew Lock impressed by going 9 for 10 with two touchdowns to Malik Nabers and another to Isaiah Hodgins during red zone drills. Tommy DeVito connected with Allen Robinson for a TD, while Lawrence Cager and John Jiles caught touchdowns from Nathan Rourke. On defense, Dane Belton, Jason Pinnock, and Jalen Mills all batted down passes, with Jordon Riley deflecting one at the line. Boogie Basham could have had two sacks, once sharing with DJ Davidson. Azeez Ojulari forced a quick throw by getting into the backfield, and Kayvon Thibodeaux disrupted the QB's timing multiple times.Art Stapleton praised Malik Nabers, saying, “I have not seen a receiver have a practice like he did today since Odell. Wish I could give you more than words and the video is the team opts to put out. Jumped off the page, so to speak. If this were training camp, my word.” Stapleton is a respected columnist and podcaster who has covered the Giants for many years. There has been a lot of hype surrounding Nabers, but should we believe the OTA hype? After all, Darren Waller was called a unicorn and Tre Hawkins was deemed the steal of the draft last year, and we know how their seasons turned out.Sterling Shepard signed a 1-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, reuniting with his college QB from Oklahoma, Baker Mayfield. The Bucs have star WRs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, along with young talents like second-year receiver Trey Palmer and rookie Jalen McMillan. It will be tough for Shepard to make the team, but fans still root for him. If he makes the squad, the Giants play the Bucs at MetLife in Week 11 on November 24th.Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni stirred controversy by telling Giants fans, “You know, we got your best player,” referring to Saquon Barkley. The Eagles signed Barkley on the first day of free agency tampering to a 3-year, $37.75M contract with $26M guaranteed. The Eagles are currently under investigation for improper contact during the tampering period. The Giants didn't even make an offer to Barkley, whose departure leaves Dexter Lawrence and Andrew Thomas as arguably the Giants' best players. Some argue that Xavier McKinney, who is younger and played every down last season, was a more significant loss than Barkley. Barkley ended his Giants tenure 4th in rushing yards and 7th in total yards, playing in 74 games while the team went 34-64-1 since he was drafted second overall in 2018.Giants to Wear New 100th Season Century Red Uniforms Week 1 Against the Minnesota VikingsJalin Hyatt expressed confidence in the Giants making the playoffs, saying, "Just looking at our team, looking at what we got -- for goals, I just want a team goal. We have a playoff team. That's what we want to do. That's our focus and we're gonna get there." While there are low expectations around the league, it's good to see players aiming high. Although the Giants making the playoffs seems unlikely, stranger things have happened, as evidenced by their unexpected playoff appearance in 2022.#nygiants #giants #nfSupport the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Shaun Morash and Paul Dottino are back in to break down the Giants 24-16 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday. While the scoreboard says this was a one possession game, this one truly never felt in doubt. Saquon Barkley led the way with a career high 35 carries- which he converted into 152 yards and a touchdown. Cool, calm and efficient is how to describe Daniel Jones performance. He made to throws when it mattered and continues to be a leader for this team. Paul takes a victory lap on the Lawrence Cager prediction, yet another TE stepping up for the Giants. While Kenny Golladay came up short in his return, recently acquired Isaiah Hodgins counties the hot streak for GM Joe Schoen - finding contributors for this team where others may not see value. It goes without saying that now at 7-2 the Giants can dispense with the questions about their quality of play. The defense continues to make key plays behind Dexter Lawrence and all signs point to a team ready for a second half run. BLEAV In Jets podcast hosts Andrew Golden of JetsXFactor.com and former Jet running back LaMont Jordan return to analyze the Jets' 53-man roster after the final round of cuts. First, the pair discusses what it's like as a player making the team, while watching some teammates fail to do so (00:50). Next, LaMont looks at the Jets' running backs, and the surprise of undrafted free-agent Zonovan "Bam" Knight making the team over veteran Tevin Coleman (05:20). Afterwords, Andrew looks at the tight ends, and specifically, receiver-turned-tight end Lawrence Cager sticking on the roster (10:25). Next, the duo turns their attention to a player that didn't make the team, but one that both Andrew and LaMont wish did, cornerback Javelin Guidry (23:25). Later, preseason folk-hero quarterback Chris Streveler takes center stage as Andrew and LaMont discuss the importance of Streveler making his way to New York's practice squad (32:50).
